Badly Needed store feature - ability to manually mark products bought elsewhere as already owned
Between all of the RDNA product that has been moved to DAZ and all of the Renderosity artists who have have been moving products over to DAZ with minimal or no changes (some examples being Ironman 13, P3Design and ZevO), DAZ product that was sold or given away outside the store (as in magazines or in the DAZ books) and the funky way that bundles and sub bundles of products will show up as not owned even when you've already purchased them individually or as a larger bundle, it's been getting increasingly hard for me to track what I actually do and don't have. I just caught myself almost buying an item I already have for the umpteenteenth time this month and two weeks ago I did buy something I already had and had to get a credit, so it seems like it would be really helpful if there was a way we could go in and mark products as having been bought previously at another site.

How would DAZ keep track of purchases from Rendo? Maybe not allow a vendor to transfer their product from another store to this one would be a good starting point. I haven't had any issues with the RDNA purchases i had not showing up here.
You can use the "hide certain products" script from here: http://civilizationhunt.com/ds/ and hide the ones you don't want to see. Then they won't show up on the category pages. They won't be marked as "owned", they just won't be listed anymore.
Thanks this is great Ati
They wouldn't. I'm just talking about an option the customer could check to make the item not show and one of the scripts that Ati has might do the trick. That said, it would be nice if products that are being shuffled over from other sites were actually marked "previously sold at another site", but then you get the question of how to address things like all the Ironman13 sets that are being resold here that are the same geometry as the Renderosity versions but with Iray materials and Genesis 2/3 poses instead of poser mats and Gen 4s, or the weird cases like "A Bright Loft, where the product being sold by DAZ by that name now is a markedly different product from when I bought it from DAZ a few years ago.
Are there any stores that do this?
I think it would just be nice to have a hide button on items. That would cover your issue with items bought elsewhere as well as allow us to hide items we have no interest in, or items which were already purchased as part of a bundle for example.
It would also be nice to have mutiple wishlists, I have like 350 items in my wishlist, but a lot of those I just have in there because I think they are interesting, but not really something I'm ever going to buy. And then I have a must buy list, which I will get when they go on sale. It would be nice to have at least 2 lists for this reason.
Greetings,
I'm fairly sure...it's possible to do something like that. Your wishlist is stored locally, as well as on DAZ's servers. Changing the list locally is trivial, it's the ones on DAZ's servers that's hard to reconcile with, and keep it from overwriting your client-side wishlist. (E.g. if you had a browser extension that added a dropdown, letting you pick which wishlist you wanted to see right now.)
The total list would still be on DAZ's servers, but you could create 'subset' lists out of it...

I still like my idea of adding a couple of more icons to product thumbs. We've already got the:
How about:
There also needs to be some provision for updates. There are things I bought on that "trocity" site that are now in the DAZ store. What happens when the vendor updates the item? How do I get the latest fixes? I mean, I can still upload the original files from "trocity" because it's still in my product library, but is the vendor going to bother to update packages on a site they're no longer selling on?
I would love a hide option. I've been wanting to not see a certain sexy schoolgirl outfit for years now.
Now you have that option. :) I personally use it to hide starter packs when I already have the pro bundle, but you can hide anything for any reason.
@Ati could those scripts be made to work with Stylish, as that is the addon I use on Firefox to modify some of the websites I visit frequently.
I'm not familiar with Stylish, but from their webpage, it seems it only allows theme and design changes. These scripts add extra functionality, not just change the design.
You could use both though. These work fine in Firefox.
I must be weird. For some reason I'm able to remember that I've already purchased a product. I have a hard time remembering what I had for breakfast. Oh, wait, over 15 years, I've bought almost exclusively from DAZ3D! Never mind!
I used to be that way, but now I own over 6000 products from DAZ alone, and a lot of the products that have changed sites lately have had completely redone graphics.and fairly generic names.
