I never noticed. To me the characters don't look partiularly asiatic (I had to look that word up to even know what it meant :P). *shrug*
i mean i love me some dark hair beautiful women but if you dont see it i must be wrong
Nevermind. LoL !
I'm not seeing oriental; I love the dark haired beauties DT produces, but I won't buy em all as they have a distinctive look; I've got a couple wishlisted, to remind me, but not sure which I'll purchase yet.
I'll probably go for for the lower priced ones, considering what Brexit has done to the exchange rate.
I certainly wont be buying any today; two items to get the paltry 45%? pfft!
dont get me wrong the more divirsty the better imho makes it easier to buy new cloths and try them on( i know that sounded wrong lol)
DT's figures look more Mediterranean to me than anything (i.e. Greek). They're lovely figures though.
*I totally misunderstood your initial question because the DT was in lowercase and I just missed it. LoL.
Does anyone here with a few of the DT characters see that much of a difference between them. I was looking at the newest one and then went back and checked out the rest of the catalog and while I think they look good, I really can't see much of a difference. Using the same promo style/lighting/hair color doesn't help much either IMO.
They don't look Asian, some just tries to dress Asian. I feels like they all looks the same, with minor changes to the skin tone and faces. The body all looks the same?
A few of them look like they were supposed to be stylized asian girls to me but not all of them, certainly not the latest one.
Well Yurika sounds like a oriental name to me and they look to me to be maybe a mix between East Asia and European or maybe just heavily western style makeup which makes a big difference, but it's not like there is a huge difference in looks to begin with. I particularly like Yurika who for some reason reminds me of Marlo Thomas. LOL, even though I've haven't seen Marlo Thomas on a television show since I was a toddler.
To be honest if you took the names off and just posted the pics, I can almost guarantee you a few people would think supposed different figures were actually the same model. But hey, obviously it's a look that sells.
I see what you mean. They do look very similar in the promo images. The lack of facial closeups in the promos makes it even more difficult to differentiate them.
Not all of them have that "asian" look, however, some do seem to look more asian to me. But then all DT characters more or less look very much the same from one another, except maybe one has bigger breasts thant he other or another one has a much lighter skin...at the end of the day they all look the same. OF course, that is just MY opinion.
what is this question for ?
If you look at the characters close up, they actually do have different faces, eye brows, noses, etc... Not that much differentiation in the textures though. Only two looked Asian to me and were supposed to be, based on their names. They all have dark brows and best rendered as a brunette. The promo poses seem to have a slightly Asian flair to them however, the way the fingers are posed seem more delicate than American/European poses and the fact that they are all dark brunettes make them look similar. Beautiful characters, but I agree, maybe he/she should try a redhead with freckles or a blonde or... Actually it seems like everything has been done by someone or other. I'm actually working on creating a character hopefully for sale, and it is a challenge to come up with something completely original. There are certain standards of beauty and I think PAs are afraid to make an unattractive character because it wouldn't sell well. There is no reason not to have more variety in textures though, I do see the same makeup colors used over and over with only slight variations from most of the vendors though and I'm not sure why. The RDNA V4 characters that were ported over have so much more variety and V4 characters in general seem to have more variety and creativity than what I'm seeing with the Genesises and wondering if that has something to do with the mesh itself. The lips tend to balloon out like bad collagen lips and that never happened with V4. G3's body is much better than V4's, but I'm not so sure about the face. Anyway, I think if DT changed the hair color in the promos and had more variety in the promos and did some lighter colored eyebrows, they wouldn't appear so similar at first glance, because if you zoom in on the faces, they really are very different and beautiful.
I agree that DT girls look strikingly similar.
Now there's 9 different characters?! EDIT: And of course I messed up, and Melisa is there twice, so 8 different models. My bad
Are the models pretty? Yeah, sure, no question about that. Is the skin good? In my opinion yes. Would I buy them? Sure, but only 1, because I really can't tell much difference between them. Are there any differences? Yes there is, but the real question is, are they different enough?
I mean faces look like they are sisters. Maybe it's the makeup, lightning or something, or maybe it's just me. Skin, body build, curves and even navel look almost identical to me also.
Good thing of course is, that as a customer, I'm free to cherry-pick the one I like the best ( my personal favourite is Leah btw ), so no harm done as far I'm concerned. I'm just wondering if PA really profits by doing the same model over and over again with some minor tweaks? If new characters still sell and PA gets the bills paid, then no problem, but to me this kind of repetition ( this is just my opinion of course ) seems kind of waste, since obviously the artist has talents.
I think if there were different colored and styled hair on them and varied backgrounds and close-ups of each face showcasing different colored makeup and eyes in the main promo, they would look less similar... I have two of DT's girls and I know when I render them, they will look nothing like the promos. I always tweak the morphs though on all models I get, but I saw something I liked in DT's models, at least to buy two of them and some are in my wish list. I suppose if you want a pretty brunette with dark eyebrows, DT's store is the one to go to, but I do agree that there needs to be more variety in the eyebrow colors and skin tone as well as variety in the promos.
The idea is to keep a DT figure on your radar when you go to the store. They've got a figure that registers with the main Daz crowd, but Daz probably gains new users every day, who don't know who any of these PA's are. If they happen to come across a DT figure their first time in the shop odds are they're going to buy it. It's a smart strategy.
Chances are as a Daz user once you've bought a DT figure there's probably no need for you to buy that many more (unless you're simply a completist, or very lazy), but you're probably not the demographic he's aiming at to start with. There's enough variety in the store that I can get pretty much any figure type I'm looking for with a few exceptions, so I'm not going to get upset that DT is appealing to a niche market, or new users. The same can be said of many other PAs who have a "style" of character they like, but if you were to start to put them side by side, you'd see very littel variation in them except for clothing or hair style.
anyone know if digital touch is on Deviantart ?
Nevermind

I agree, I think there are things he could do that would make the characters look quite a bit different - as I think close ups of the faces would show their differences better. It doesn't help that it looks like he's used the same 4 hair for 9 different characters.
I think, over all though, that the thread is pretty harsh when it comes to their evaluation of his characters.
I agree. The criticism here does seem too harsh. I think the characters are beautiful, some are stunning, but the main promos could be better to show more variety. Look at the characters close-up. I may use one of the characters in an upcoming render to show how versatile the characters can be. Really, all the characters here can be made to look so many different ways depending what makeup you use, hair, kit bashing, adding your own morphs, etc... I look at the models here as just a base and use my own creativity to give them an original look. I rarely, if ever, use any characters as is, they are just a starting point for my own imagination and creativity. It almost doesn't even feel like art if you just use someone else's character without putting your own touch on it... It would be nice to see some of DT's characters with an option for lighter eyebrows though, because the dark eyebrows really force you to make her a brunette. That and variety in the promos would be the only suggestions I would make.
This thread made me look again at her store and I'm seeing some really gorgeous models, just added more to my wishlist. So, I guess, as they say, all publicity is good publicity...
