Background image??

Don't know if I'm just missing it but I do not see the section where we were able to add a background(2d) image on the scene before rendering. Can anyone help? Thanks

Yeah, this presented a problem for me too when I first started as most of the tuts are for earlier vers of Daz and things have been moved around.

Windows /  Panes (tabs) /  Environment [click the drop down arrow and choose Background]  then browse to the location of whatever background image you want to use.

  • Oh thank you so much! I thought I was going crazy looking for this feature. I see what you mean. It used to be so much easier the older way

    Thanks again!

Are there any controls for this, like scaling or rotation?

If so, I haven't found them yet.

You can always load the image as a map on a primitive plane, cube etc, then scale and rotate. As always, your results may vary, particularly for scaling.

You might prefer to render it without, save as a png, so there is an alpha channel; then add the background in Gimp or an alternative.

You can flip horiz or vertical and the menu option on the tab lets you change the ratio to the render ratio.

If you're using iray don't waste your time. You cant see the background until you render. Sometimes it's necessary for your composition to actually see the image. And the resulting render doesn't have the alpha channel for the objects in front of the background..to do that you need a second render without the background.

3Delight works great with backgrounds. But they messed up the alpha channel and I have yet to get a clean one. The image itself looks fine.

I can see the background even when not rendering. I use Iray.
