Configuration of the system has changed - Every time I open DS?

Why do I keep getting this message?

2016-48-02 11:48:14.086 Configuration of the system has changed.  To use content installed using Daz Connect, the content owner must re-authenticate.
2016-48-02 11:48:14.102     Json Parser (1,1): Syntax error - expected '{' or '['

I got it every 2nd or 3rd time with the previous beta, so I downloaded the current beta. Since installing yesterday, I've had the message 3 times. And the ironic thing is, I don't even have any DAZ Connect products. I have no folders except for my own products.

One thing I have noticed is that the login box never remembers my password, so I have to type it in every time I connect.

  • Which other versions, if any, are you using? The system changed as it was unreliable so if you are using a release version from before the chnage and the beta from after you will get that every time you switch from one to the other. If you are exclusively using current versions (beta or release or a mix) then that shouldn't be happening.

Thanks for that, Richard. That could be the explanation. I use the 4.8 release for everything except rendering promos, which I do in the 4.9 beta.

I suppose I'll just have to put up with it until I switch completely to 4.9.

On a side note, if I save all my products in 4.9, will customers definitely be able to use them in 4.8? I know I can open 4.9 scenes in 4.8, but I won't move to 4.9 for products unless I'm utterly certain there won't be an issue.

  • Well, I was meaning 4.9 before the validation code changed - I'm not sure if 4.8 is expected to trigger a reactivation or not.

Yes, .duf is meant to be backward compatible though within limits (Genesis 3 won't open successfully in 4.5, I'm pretty sure). Scripts, if binary or encrytped, are the things that aren't backward compatible.

Ok, thanks. Since I only do props or articulated figures, Genesis isn't an issue.

Now that I think about it, I wasn't getting the error message during my last burst of using 4.9 (roughly 2 months ago). So it may not be 4.8 that triggers it.

Anyway, I only use 4.9 for about a week every few months, so I can live with it.

Maclean, how have you been?! Is there any reason you just don't switch totally to 4.9?!

    Hi Ron,

I'm fine. Still here and still making products (15 years at DAZ now!). Glad to see you back in the forums again. Hope you're doing good.

So why don't I switch to 4.9? Well, it's a good question, but I don't have a good answer. I've always stayed several versions behind for my products so that the late-adopters won't get left out. It wasn't until I started with 4.9 that I discovered 4.8 could open the files. In previous versions, DS always gave an error. So now that I know, I suppose I should dump 4.8, but I'm going to hang on a while longer - partly out of contrariness, partly just to make sure everythng keeps on working.

To be honest, there's hardly anything extra in 4.9 I need. I only use it for promos because of the increased render speed, so 4.8 is fine for me. But hey, I still use DS2 for all my importing and building. It's nice and simple, and that suits me. I also have DS3 installed, although I only keep that in case I need to check something in old products with DS3 scripts.

I realised a long time ago that upgrading software isn't always such a great idea. I hang on to all my old installers just in case.

    cheers

    mac

Mac, I continue to admire your work. You've always been willing to put in the extra effort on your products. It shows. I'm doing ok. I've moved back to Minnesota to be near family. I'm retired. I drop into the forums from time to time. But I don't stay too long. Even I can learn a few things! Take care!

We can all learn, Ron. 20 years in 3d and I still pick up new tricks from time to time.

Good to hear you're doing well!

Hey Mac, just know I'll always be a fan. Beyond that, I'll bow out of this thread. Take care!

The configuration of the system has changed

The problem is with every start of Daz 10,
and I should always be online with it.

    Please help.

One more question is the D-Force simulate only with very new graphics cards?

  • BeeMKayBeeMKay Posts: 7,019

It should only require one log-in, and then not ask again.

As for dForce, it doesn't need a graphic card, but uses OpenCL 1.2, so you would have to update your OpenCL drivers, probably. Check out https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/203081/dforce-start-here#latest the opening post explains things quite good.

I see this thread had popped up again. I thought I had posted the solution here, but it must have been in another thread. For anyone who has this issue, Tech Support gave me this answer and it worked. Never had a problem since.

Please uninstall Daz Studio and the PostgreSQL. Then go to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\cms and rename or remove the ContentCluster folder and the cmscfg.json file located there.

(If you can not see your AppData folder, type %appdata% in the Start menu and Windows will open the hidden folder.)

Once you have done that, reinstall first Daz Studio and then the PostgreSQL CMS (make sure you are not installing as Administrator). Then open Daz Studio and re-import metadata.
With the box checked that userdata overwrites product data.
To do this, right click on the Content Library pane, choose Content DB Maintenance, tick Re-Import Metadata, click Accept. Tick User Data and All Products and click Accept.

I just had the same message 'Configuration has changed'. In my case not exactly wrong: I've replaced mainboard, graphic card and RAM sticks. But I remembered that I've rarely used the 'DAZ connect' thingy and probably never used 'Connect'  - 'Log In' since my registration years ago :-) So I did that and some content was refreshed in an instant. And after a restart the message did not pop-up again.
