Posing Tip: Turn off figure limits... How?

Most of my i13 Genesis 3 poses have a tip that says to turn off figure limits for best results. I know how to turn off limits for individual body parts and morphs... but how the heck do you turn off the limits for the entire figure?

Select every bone you want to turn off limit in scene manager

    Edit > Figure > Limits

Are you kidding? That sure sounds like a lot to do just to be able to apply a pose and have it come out right.

Thanks so much for your help, Mythmaker!

As for all that work, forget it. I'll just apply the pose and hope for the best.

SMH.... should be an easier way....

I asume  you know about SHIFT+"Left Mouse Clicking" - This makes sellecting all the bones in a figure very easy...

Or are you talking about some other problem?

  • When you apply a pose that goes outside limits, you should get a popup asking if you want to turn them off.  Just say yes.

Right click on your figure root, Select children. Edit, Figure, Limits off.

Then wait for one second as DS does its thing...

TWO clicks in total.... omg.... lol

For those even more speed-obsessed than me... Mcasual a.k.a. Jacque does his magic

I also use custom action to put a Select children button icon next to the scene manager. More fun.

I also pulled Limit on Limit off out of the Edit menu>submenu and make custom action buttons for instant access.

If not go to Edit>Preferences>Content Library tab to set the behaviour.

There is also an option in Daz (cant remember where) that automatically turns limits off when a pose is applied that calls for limits off. Im not in front of my machine now so I couldnt tell you where...

Okay... so I was having a rough morning. Sorry 'bout that! My brain finally clicked and suddenly it all made sense, so now I've got it. Just seemed to me at the time that it used to be easier... but I guess it's easy enough.

@Mythmaker... sorry if my thank you seemed a bit snarky! That was not my intention... my thanks was sincere!

    Thanks again, everyone!

I use this so often, I'd like a button that turns off limit for the entire figure with just one click. Also, when I right click, I don't get the "select children" menu. I only get stuff like parenting, fit, delete and such. I have to go into the pane's menu.

I have already provided the one click option mcjunlockallbones a few posts earlier!

If you're like me, love to customize your workspace, you can also make those one click buttons yourself!

It's easy and fun once you get the hang of it!

F3, Base Layout, Parameter, Limits on/off, right click to get options to set your own button icon, drag them both to the right pane > Tool Bars. Put it anywhere in any one of the tool bar groups.

Apply, Accept. You should have your own one click buttons right where you want them!

Don't forget to save your layout using F4.

My Daz Studio UI looks like SketchUp addons galore full of one click buttons lol. Almost as busy with buttons as my ZBrush!

Your Select children is missing? That one is weird. Even my Daz Horse 2 has multiple Select options!

Did you right click on figure ROOT inside SCENE manager or viewport?

No prob mate. Trust me I'm as big a click-banishing freak as you are.

Daz Studio has a lot of "hidden goodies". Some of them took me like 2 yrs to discover!

And then I'd go Why noone told me that arrrrggghhh! lol

But then, I love tools that has depth. DS's UI customization is awesome and click-averse species friendly!

Another good thing, the devs also understand the language of hover mouse auto-expand sub menu so even for the deeply buried stuff it's less painful!

I have it set to Edit > Preferences > Content Library > Always Turn Limits Off - I don't remember setting that so I guess it's the default setting?

I'm not sure - mine is set to Always Ask but that's the sort of thing I would do so quite possibly not the default.

Wow, thanks to all for supplying info. Perhaps I overlooked this stuff reading/watching tutorials and such. I was going through the hierarchy and right clicking on each "bone" to select turn limits off. Very frustrating! I knew there had to be an easier way...even google couldn't understand my search question.

    Thanks, guys and gals. :)
