Instability Issues

I've been having a lot of instability issues with Daz Stuido lately. It crashes a lot lately and it rarely used to crash. Is anyone else having this issue? I'm not sure if it's because I upgraded to the latest version or if it's a problem with my computer. Is the latest version instable or is the issue on my end?

You are not the only one I have been having the issue quite often where it will either be that the renderer crashes, forcing me to shutdown Studio to just having Studio not behaving itself.

Hi Diva, usually the first thing i check when I get instability issues with daz is I will roll back my Display ir graphic card drive. or check to see if you got a new windows update . Many times lately NVIDIA will send out these new VR Updates and they are not compatible with the daz studio Iray render engine.  and sometimes rolling back the driver temporary fix that issues until daz got caught up with the driver technology in their new release.    I was having a lot of instability issues not long ago and that turn out to be what it was a graphic driver

Some models will cause that like the ivy on the pergola or DAZ Studio taking to much RAM or CPU time will cause Windows 10 to shut DAZ Studio down. You'll know it's not a DAZ Studio crash by whether or not DAZ Studio throws a dialogue up asking you to report the problem to DAZ 3D.

Thanks, Ivy. I tried updating my driver - was hoping that would help. I don't know how to "roll back" a driver though. I think it might be an issue with my new figure - seams to only happen when I have her loaded in the scene.

Yep! You're right! I tested it with several figures and it only seams to crash when I load my new figure in. :(  Thank you for helping me narrow it down. It's sad news though, as it's by far my favorite figure.

Well try that figure alone and naked to make sure it's not having too many models loaded the the scene, or the hair, or the clothes, or what-not.

I loaded her by herself with nothing else in the scene. When I try to add clothes or hair to her Daz Studio crashes. Poop. :( I love that character. This sucks. I wonder what about her is causing it. It doesn't happen with any of my other figures so far, so I'm pretty sure it's her.

Which figure is out.  Maybe if a couple of us have her we can test it out and see if we have the same issue

    It's a freebie character I got from here: http://bestmanpi.deviantart.com/art/Rebeca-Shhhh-3-DUF-File-556762621

I saved the base figure as character and for some reason when I try to put clothes or hair on her it crashes Daz Studio.

I found a way around it though. I saved her shape as a shaping preset and her mats as a materials preset then loaded the base Genesis 3 figure and loaded the shape and mats onto her and saved it as a new character. That seams to have fixed the issue. She looks exactly like the orginal but she doesn't crash Daz Studio now. :)

If it's Brooke 7 HD / Victoria 7 I found and reported a bug about her this past April or May but now that you mention this I have yet to receive a notice that Brooke 7 HD or Victoria 7 have been updated so the bug must still exist.

It had to do with loading Victoria 7 and then loading Genesis 2 clothing like the Cupcake Stewardess and also other outfits that are Genesis 2 although understandably I didn't test them all for DAZ and report them. Is that the bug?

It looks just like the original character but this version of the character doesn't crash Daz Studio. I'm not sure why the other one did, must be something to do with the base figure - since loading her shape and mats to genesis 3 base seamed to fix it.

I'm now able to get hair and clothes on her! Yay! :D

    Hey divamakeup,

Would you do me a favor and open up a support ticket with the link to the broken freebie and a description of how you could get it to crash every time. Easily reproducible bugs are quite rare these days so it would be nice to make sure whatever is causing this one gets fixed before it turns in to some weird frankenbug.

Sure, Rawb! I'll try and figure out how to write a support ticket. :) I find it completely reproducible for me. Trying to load any hair or clothes to the figure in this scene here: http://bestmanpi.deviantart.com/art/Rebeca-Shhhh-3-DUF-File-556762621 results in a crash.

If that link doesn't work, this one might: http://fav.me/d97hcsd

I just downloaded the scene, obviously I get erors for the stuff I don't have and also the face diffuse map (the figure uses the Victoria 7 textures), I put it in manually. I was able to load clothing and hair without a crash, saved just the figure as a scene shut down DS opened up DS opened up the scene and applied clothing and hair without any crashes.

I'm using DS 4.9.2.70, I do know there are some things that seem to be fine in 4.9 but crash 4.8.

Weird. I tried redownloading the scene and it did the same thing. I deleted all the items I didn't have (clothes, hair, accessories, etc) that showed up as big gray boxes. Then tried to load clothes or hair on the figure and it crashes. I replaced the face mat with the original Victoria 7 face mat. And then try loading clothes or hair to the figure and sure enough - immediate crash. Now the clothes and hair I've tried loading have all been the clothes and hair meant for Genesis 2 figures - so perhaps that's the issue? I'll try it with clothes made for Genesis 3 and see if it still does it.

Ok I just tested it. It's fine if I use product meant for Genesis 3 from Smart Content, however if I try to "auto-fit" a product meant for Genesis 2 that I have saved as a "wearable" (My Library > Presets > Wearables) then it crashes.

That's the bug I reported back in April or May it was, Request 216610.

It doesn't happen it I start with the Girl 7 for which I have no Girl 7 HD but it does happen for Victoria 7 or Brooke 7 HD (and probably others and also other types of Genesis 2 clothing then the sets for Callie 6 i was trying to use). You could probably skip the dialing in the body and face shapes too but I didn't extensive test that.

Here is how one should be able to reproduce it:

The bug happens with both Optiplex checked & unchecked so it must be something else.0. Start DAZ Studio 4.9.1.30 1. Load Brooke 2. Dial to 0% Victoria 7's Body 3. Dial to 100% the Girl 7's Body 4. Dial to 100% the Girl 7 5. Load the Captain Cupcake Jacket on Brooke that looks like Girl 7 5. a. (Autofit - Genesis 2 Female - Shirt) 6. Load the Captain Cupcake Skirt on Brooke that looks like Girl 7 6. a. (Autofit - Genesis 2 Female - Pants) 7. DAZ Studio CrashesAs I said both Optiplex & the Customer Improvement checkboxes are unchecked and also if I load the original Girl 7, this doesn't happen. It seems related to starting with Brooke. By the way, I just tested this with Victoria 7 and the same thing happens. I dial out Victoria 7's body, dial in Girl 7's body and dial in Girl 7 and then the 2nd article of clothing I try to put on the character causes DAZ Studio to crash. Other articles of clothing from the Callie 6 Pro Bundle will also cause this crash.

Oh good! I'm glad that it's a known issue. Hopefully they will fix it if it's effecting other figures other than that freebie one.

Well maybe it's fixed I haven't tested in 4.9.2.70 yet. What version of DAZ Studio is this bug happening for you?

I'm using the latest version that came out about a month ago or so.

I'm not getting these problems, don't have Brooke or the cupcake outfit, but I loaded V7 dialed her out and Girl 7 in autofitted several outfits al fine no crashes.

Loaded Rebeca autofitted G2 clothing - no crash.

Strange. *shrug* Don't know what the deal is then. I'm not the only one with the issue it seams, so, IDK.
