Sorry if this been asked?   What is so great about nevermind go?  I tried it but all I see are nevermind put into my camera's view on my phone.  I see no way to catch them or do anything else in this game.   What am I doing wrong?

Don't be mad, I was only joking. Can't play anything go, as I can't afford a cellphone. Surprised there aren't more people that could answer seriously here though, seems to be everywhere these days. Maybe too busy rendering skimpy vickie in the tower with the sword.

Didn't mean to offend. With all the stupid goings on with this game, I was just being tongue in cheek with the reply. .I actually had to kick a few kids out of one of our stores because they were just wandering around being a nusiance with this game.

A certain cellphone game based on a very popular concept geared towards young audiences, but is mostly being used to block trafic and start digital gang wars... :)

    Not offended at all.

I just thought that this forum was the wrong place to ask that is all.   Since no one knew how to play the game.

The fact that so many people are using their smartphones slavishly and absentmindedly chasing virtual Pokemon characters into stores, through cemeterys, into people's yards, across streets, to the amusement, shock and annoyance of sane people is a telling commentary on human nature regarding idiotic fads.

Actually it wouldn't be a bad thing if the developers had figured out some way of restricting where the creatures spawn and run off to... If it were in parks and safe places, then score one for good ideas, but as it is, it's open to overzealous individuals following the creatures out into traffic and other risky situations.  In New York City already several people have been hurt playing the game and tripping over stuff, in either Bosnia or Croatia the government has issued warnings to remind people not to wander into old minefields while playing the game. In upstate New York, some idiot was driving and playing and got out of his car to chase a creature and was struck by another vehicle.

One may argue it's just Darwin's theory in full operation, but sadly even the most idiotic actions often end up being someone else's problem... I'm sure the guy who ran over the numbskull getting out of his car, didn't need the headache of dealing with that incident.

Not to mention you already have many incidents with people wandering into unsafe properties and industrial areas and possibly needing to get rescued because they fell into an abandoned septic tank or rock crusher, now not only is the player in peril, the rescuers must place themselves in danger.

Then add on top of that, the predators that will learn what players look like or where they tend to go and use that to their advantage to rob or injure people who are not even bothering anyone.

Sure, there are disclaimers about not doing anything stupid, but most people treat stern warnings like optional suggestions or like EULAs and never even read them... Parents may warn kids, but if you have ever tried to get kids to shut a damn light off or close a door behind them, you'll know how far that goes... I think the developers either live in a perfect vacuum or don't really care about the possibility of someone foreseeably being injured or killed due to being immersed in the game.  Realistically, parks and large open spaces are the only ideal setting for this game and free roaming urban environments are just asking for trouble.

I'm also sure there a plenty of places in big open country where there will never be a problem, but just going by past incidents and things of similar nature, it's just a matter of time till some person is horribly killed, kidnapped or maimed while playing and then there will be an outcry to ban or limit the game... And rather than face further problems the game will be cancelled and any similar games in the future, even if well thought out and safer will get blacklisted and have to overcome the stigma of the original.

I find that nobody in charge of the game thought of the problems players could face, to be rather naive or myopic at best.

I missed the movie Tomorrow Land, and about a week before this game came out I saw it... In the movie, the Tomorrow-landers use these holographic pins to recruit freethinking candidates... The pins give the holder the ability to walk around in and experience the futuristic city, while wandering around in the real world... Only problem is, they can wander into swamps, walk into walls or fall off cliffs while doing it... The first thing that came to mind when the main character walked into a wall was "boy, what a bunch of idiots... Nobody would do something like that... You'd kill off like half the people you are trying to recruit, before they even realized what they were doing"... and the same goes for some pizza pocket commercial where these guys are falling all over the room and tripping all over each other while playing a virtual reality FPS game... I saw that and I'm like, "that's idiotic, nobody would make a game like that"...

Well, so much for that sentiment.

I think the game in the right circumstances is a good idea, but as it is it's a little too open for misunderstandings and dumb mistakes.

I'm not arguing your point, just offering a different perspective... Well, I gotta go bury some bodies... I mean... Move some shrubs... Yeah... Shrubs.

    Bye.

I don't disagree with you entirely. However, I do believe that a majority of the responsibility falls on the end user to pay attention to their surroundings, use a fair amount of common sense and not play the game while driving or engaging in other activities. But we all know that people will do stupid things no matter how obviously dangerous they are. Like texting and driving, everybody knows you're not supposed to do that and yet they do it anyway.

And good luck moving the shrubs. ;)

I personally saw where the app pointed to a park where pokemon's were (the software called it "park") and the kids playing wanted to go there. Turns out the "park" was the campus around the building I work at, and we have armed guards who patrol there. So I'm inclined to believe there needs to be some geo-aware update needs to happen.

Yeah, what he said.  (about the games, not the bodies... er, shrubs...)

And for future game inventors, remember what H.L Menken said: Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.

or more accurately: No one in this world, so far as I know — and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me — has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.

I do like the concept of the game... It's just the kids I'm worried about.   Dumb adults are just a nuisance... (Well, actually much more than that) but even good smart kids can do dumb things without thinking.

Earlier this week as I was driving my daughters back from swimming lessons, there was a group boys probably between 8-10 years old walking along the side of the road... They were kinda huddling around a kid in the middle on a bike and even from a distance it was clear they were not paying attention as they were weaving to and fro... The speed limit in the area is 30 mph, and I was doing about 25, but people routinely go down the road 60+... As I got closer it looked like the kids were watching a video or something on the kid on the bikes phone, as I got closer I noticed they all had phones and were glancing at their own phones and maybe each other's too... (Whenever I'm driving anywhere near kids I'm instantly cautious)... When I was about 100 ft from them they all seemed to go off to the side on a lawn for a moment, sorta like they sensed the car and were moving wide off the side of the road, but as I got a little closer,  one (maybe two or three... I think the were five, counting bike boy) of them ran onto the lawn and then about four feet onto the road, well enough to get struck by a car... Good for him I was watching and ready for stupidity, and better still, it seemed like one of the kids who didn't run seemed to be an older brother who was yelling at them for running... I felt stupid because I didn't realize what they were doing, even as the kid started running, it looked like he was taking a video or picture of the street... I felt double stupid because my more observant daughter was shouting something about "go" from the back and I didn't make the connection, to be honest I got mad at her because I wasn't paying attention and thought she was saying "go" as in "go run them over" because I heard her say one of the kids names... Turns out she was actually saying something like "hey that's whathisname and they are playing go... Look out they are playing go"... But given that her and her sister were arguing a moment before, it's hard to pick out sentences directed to me most times...  Point is/was I swerved and hit the brakes and nobody was run over, or really close to run over.  About a quarter mile later it dawned on me what I saw (and then I had to hear "that's what I was telling you Dad") and I got really annoyed about the game... The stupid kids that were there are not bad or even overly stupid (according to my daughters who say at least two of them are/were in their classes and fairly decent/nice kids)... They were just doing what kids do and since I know what kids can be like I was alert... I have seen many situations on the same road were people blast by pedestrians walking along the road, and God forbid that person trips, they are road pizza... Too many drivers don't look, don't slow for kids or care... They are headed where they are going and damn everyone in between, and even when one is paying attention, the difference between disaster and a close call can be a matter of a second or two... In the U.S. there is a legal term, which I forget the exact term, but means making something potentially dangerous, attractive to children... A bad example would be a bucket of lollipops next to a running unattended wood chipper on your front lawn... And even if the game is geared towards young adults or teens, the very nature of the cartoon characters and other merchandise, is geared towards kids, most too young to think rationally about safety or potential dangers... Thus it's allure is almost lollipops... And the potential dangers could almost be be as bad as the wood chipper... like StratDragon said, without the game being more Geo-aware (nice word), there is a lot of potential for disaster.

Young people huh? I know more than a few over 40 players. I play and it gives me an excuse to go out and get some exercise. For some reason I feel less guilty about taking 45 minutes off from work to go walk and hunt (and my but the time flies) than I did when I was just walking and listening to pod casts or walking and watching movies. I live in a college town and when I go downtown to walk and hunt I see scores of people my age and even older mixed in with the younger folk.
