I'm going to both and thought it would be cool to meet up with others on this site if they are going...

I'm skipping Siggraph this year but I'm doing Comic-Con yet again. The thing about meeting up with people at Comic-Con is that it's just a strategical nightmare, I have business meetings there every year and I've stood in a room less than two dozen feet away from the person I'm supposed to meet and we've eventually had to call each other and rebook because there are just so damn many people milling constantly. That said, I've always been surprised that DAZ hasn't tried to organize something for DS users at the big cons, the way that Smith MIcro and Brian Haberlin has taken over the 11:15 am slot in RM 2 at Comic Con. Of course, SM has really pulled back their SDCC presence over the last couple of years, so your best shot at finding like-minded types is over at the Deviant Art gathering in the aArtists Alley part of the Dealers room.
Here are the panels I suspect will be most likely to attract the interest of DAZ-fans:

The truth is, I rarely go to panels, it's all just too hectic... Unless a company is presenting that I want to meet. In the past I've gone as press which was great because I got to interview all the talent there upstairs at the Hilton away from the chaos and as a pro selling my art at a shared booth and was in the art show. This year I'm going as a pro again but I have no booth to sell from, I had a tough year with deaths in the family and made no arrangements for anything, so not really sure why I'm going LOL. I've been going since 2009 and feel sort of, been there, done that... I don't even know where I'm going to stay this year! I actually like Siggraph a lot better than Comic-Con as a convention, especially now with all the VR demos! The parties at Comic-Con are great, but I haven't arranged to be on lists this year either and it's getting almost impossible to get on many lists unless you have a publicist... And it's just insane to me that fans will sleep outside all night like homeless people when they have paid hotel rooms just to get into Hall H to see some celebrity panel in the morning... Not to mention, that it's become all about Cosplay and fans taking pictures of each other and themselves and the insane studio marketing with signage on every building, on every empty space, even the bathroom mirrors... Sorry, rant over LOL. Anyway, I've found it pretty easy to meet up with people as long as you text to confirm and keep your phone charged... And meet away from the convention center, the Omni or Hilton are good places to meet.
I will be back at Comic-Con this year.
