Shaolinquan (少林 拳, Wade -Giles : Shaolin Ch'uan ) (literally "Young Forest of Boxing") is a style of traditional Chinese martial arts which was originally practiced by Buddhist monks of the Shaolin Monastery in Henan Province, China. For some, the Shaolin style, as well as being considered one of the most effective and oldest styles of Asian martial arts, is considered the progenitor, having influenced directly or indirectly the birth and development of modern martial arts.
