COMMENTS - Combined the three previous renders in Comic Life.
Carrara Challenge #66 - Jumping Off a Browser Scene Go Splat !No, I don't save there, thanks for the warning.. I almost never save anything on the C drive. But I am grateful for the file being there for obvious reasons. :)
Bunyip, thanks for the comment on the Lost World render!

Nice scene UB, had very much a Jurassic Park/Raiders of the last arc feel. That particular Scene in the Browser has so much to offer. From memory they were splats but of course as you say they are not !Much appreciated - glad the render gives that vibe. It's a different take on the classic 1912 story by AC Doyle, The Lost World. Professor Challenger was the protagonist.
Merge Cameras into Daz Scene from Poser ProductsThere are a few high quality older products out there that I would like to use. Now matter how I try to load the poser cameras, they overwrite my existing cameras. I tried choosing merge into scene, control clicking and alt clicking. Often they are saved separately, so I just want to load them all in and the switch. This product is great and I just need to update the textures.
off topic threadoff topic threadmight need to buy Alessandro's version

it will help Kendall's family too so good
but I actually wanted a Carrara terrain
Edit update
I have bought AM set, will see what I can do in Carrara later
I am off soon to buy some RAM sticks!
That is So Cool! I made an EnvironKit called Sky Pillars that is very similar to that. I'll have to see if I can find it.

ZDG random Daz Studio discoveries and questions.Well, cool stuff, really cool stuff, especially if there is some thought put into an OBJ with UV mapping export given put into it. I still want a 3D model of the Sekhmet statues that are more than a cube with a bump map on it. Ok, it wasn't exactly a cube, close enough, lol. And in faines, TurboSquid did try to work out some of the mesh difficulties, the 3D scan just needed to be way better.

Oh, and there are statues around that are not all broken up that could have been 3D scaned. Like this one from the Louvre Museum, what I actualy wanted in 3D land, it doesnt exist tho.

in any case. So, years ago I remember seeing Prof Phil Manning and crew lug around a LiDAR sensor set to scan dinosaur footprints (BBC, UoM). That was cool stuff.

The scans had some limitations, as some features didn't always get a good angle from the tripod and all too often there would be points out in space unattached to the actual geological site. A few days ago I had seen a documentary about some archeology in Pompeii that had taken place a few years back in 2016 I think. The handheld scanners were really cool, incredibly cool.
Think this was a Discovery documentary called "The Lost World of Pompeii", a tad difficult to find concrete credit for tho.
So, that scanner would use the camera and an infrared thing to scan the surface, then it would take the tablet some time to process the pics into a 3D model of the structure. A lot like something else I keep hearing rumors of, and TechGage has also done some preliminary trial testing and trying out of something that requires CUDA to process the images into a 3D mesh.
TechGage (web page link) Exploring GPU Photogrammetry Performance With RealityCapture, cool stuff. So, I can imagine museum caretakers with a steady hand using a normal camera to take many photos of artifacts from many angles, then feeding it into that soft to make 3D models of the artifact. There are just so many cool things that can be done with a 3D model that is nondestructive to artifacts. There is still a lot of 3D scan cleanup I will guess, however, it no longer requires thousands of pounds of equipment to scan something in situ. I think Sir Anthony Robinson, would be so impressed with tech like this, I suspect Philip Harding certainly would.

I do hope y'all have a great new year, it has been a somewhat busy month here. B)
Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2A very belated and reverse identification, this - 'reverse' in that when I saw the person on TV I thought 'Hang on, aren't you an old DAZ character I bought years ago'; and 'belated' in that it's from a TV show Wikipedia tells me was first broadcast 1999-2002, but I never saw it then (or whenever it's been broadcast in the UK) but only recently discovered it and have been watching it on Amazon Prime. (It's very cheesy, a real throw back to a kind of family advemture series that wascommon in the 60s and 70s, and the Australian actors trying - and failing - to do English accents are hysterical, but I am rather enjoying it despite feeling I shouldn't.)
The character Vanessa for V4 in the store here - the main head, not the two alternates - looks remarkably like Jennifer O'Dell as Veronica in The Lost World TV series. (I rather doubt it was consciously intended, or there'd be at least one promo of her in one of the 'jungle girl' type costumes no DAZ generation has ever been short of.)

Just here in the DAZ store, there are around a dozen pirate type outfits for M4 and V4 through Genesis 3, a bunch of skeletons(including one that can wear G3M clothes), 9 sailing ships, several islands, and tons of pirate accessories. You could also search at Renderosity and ShareCG. However, unless you want it just like the Pirates of the Caribbean, there should be plenty of resources for making scenes of undead sailors on a ghost ship. If you work on lighting, you could even make the sailors glow.
Edit: there are also kraken and sea monsters.

The Lost World (Missing Files)https://www.daz3d.com/the-lost-world
And so, this product is missing files. I have a short list of materials and they have the wacky scroll and tab (that I think indicates Poser files)
I found this list which states The Lost World needs DIM to install.
https://www.daz3d.com/forums/search?Search="The+Lost+World"
I uninstalled and installed it several times using DIM (with Daz closed) and the file system is still sparse. In renders I get the OCean and beach plane, but no shader loads to shade the water or beach.
Arggghhhhh,,,
I tried a manual install and slid the runtime over myself. Still, only three choices.

The product says Several shaders and such, but how do I get this working?
All help is appreciated.
Animation in Carrara - Let's Animate - Q&A - Come One & AllDAZ Studio. Rendering can run anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes per frame with Iray if I'm using the GPU. I briefly tried out 3Delight, but if I put a single Minotaur in the Lost World set, Iray finishes while 3Delight is at something like 7 or 14% (can't remember exactly).
I actually started an iClone trial for better animation capabilities and super-fast rendering (which they achieve by using a good video-game style rendering engine that makes tradeoffs I could live with), but it turns out that despite their advertising as a great way to animate DAZ content, they haven't put much effort into bridging from DAZ to iClone, and zero effort into getting DAZ clothing to fit and animate properly on the characters. I had my money all saved up and my credit card hot to buy, but if using iClone means learning how to make my own morphs in Blender or Carrara, then there's no reason to give Reallusion my money--I should just learn Blender or Carrara. So now that's what I'm doing.
Blender is attractive because of the upcoming realtime PBR rendering engine; Carrara is attractive because supposedly pre-Genesis 3 content just works. I'm hoping that Carrara is a great place to make morphs, but I haven't yet researched that point.
[Coming Soon] Epic Skydomes - Ocean Mountain Sunset HDRI (commercial)Any word on the lost world and this one being released?
It was held up in QA for a bit, but is due to release soon.
