  • Daz Studio Postgresql And No Database Found Error

4.20(.x.x), not 4.2 (which was a really early beta version). Version numbers are not decimals.

If you install with Daz Central it may already have instaled PostgreSQL, and a lot of cotnent, as by default it works with bundles of products for daz Studio rather than a la carte as Install Manger does. Are the installed files showing in the Content Library pane, under Daz Studio Formats and/or Poser Formats? If not theya re not in the right place. Did you restore the actual database, as well as the content files? A restored database can cause issues, even if PostgreSQL is isntalled, due to permissions.

  • PostgreSQL CMS Error

Daz Studio wil not care if you move content directories, as long as you continue to point to the correct folder (the one that holds the Runtime and Data folders) as the content directory. Only DIM and Daz Central care about the absolute location.

  • SOS for my first render?

    Hello to everyone!

I am fairly new to DAZ although I wanted to get to it for long time and I have just begun testing waters with rendering after reading everything I could about it.

I was hoping to use some of  my renders  for prints (23 x15 cm ideally) so I decided to start adjusting resolution for renders as suggested in another thread for prints in similiar size.
I started with a scene with simple background and zero props but lots of magic lights... I expected fully the computer to work for overnight from what I read, for HD format, but now I am concerned that after one full day rendering is still up to less than 30% .

furthermore, the central figure dealing magic is quite perfect now, the but the rendering looks to be very slow on the very basic background ( that looks very badly cut in squares right now?
I am not sure if I have to consider this normality or not, or whether I am better off changing something in the rendering data?

Can someone give me some advice ?

You can configure where DIM places its files through Advanced Settings (and even if you then use Daz Central it should respect those settings).

  • Is it possible to reinstall daz with only the products that I use

You install and uninstall with DIM (or DAZ Central), or you install and uninstall with Connect (through Smart Content), don't mix the two. If you installed with DIM, you cannot uninstall from Studio in the Smart Content tab, and vice versa.

Smart Content will see the assets and provide the necessary associations and dependencies regardless of how it got the metadata, from DIM or from Connect.

If the icon is greyed out, Studio does not see the product as installed, so you couldn't uninstall it even if you tried, but it shows as available. If you are using DIM, do not ever install from Smart Content. I can't say that often enough.

To remove the greyed-out icon, go to the Content Library tab (NOT Smart Content). Select Products on the left. You will see the alphanumeric headings. Pick one. Wait for it to refresh the view. Go to the bottom of the list. Any uninstalled products will be there as greyed-out icons. Right-click on one and DELETE it (you cannot do that from the Smart Content tab). Studio will process for a few seconds and the view will clear. You have to pick the alphanumeric heading again and return to the bottom of the list if there are more to delete. Repeat for each uninstalled product you want to make disappear. I do not know of any way to do more than one at a time.

After deleting the product from the database, they should not appear in the Smart Content All or Available tab anymore. (I say "should", but I have never let Studio log in, so I cannot say for sure, but when I do this procedure on my Content Library, the greyed-out icons for uninstalled products in the Smart Content views also disappear).

Those are the locations for files isntalled through one of the isntallers - one folder (in Public Documents) is the default location for DIM to place files, the othe is the default for Daz Central. It seems clear that you have had both application isntalled, and used them both, and reset their paths to their defaults as otherwise both would, so far as I know, use the settings from whichever you used first.

That means you have the default locations for install manager and Daz Central in use, which as I said should not happen unless you reset the second one to use its defaults instead of continuing with the settings from the first.

Sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about. Are the files i download from the site stored in DIM? I really don't want to have DAZ Central because of its incapability of downloading all the files with one click. How can I check the default locations?

  • Uninstalling Daz Studio, But Keep my Library?

Hello, I tried to update Daz Studio today as I was using an older version and a product I purchased yesterday wasn't working (so I hoped it would fix my issue). After updating, I can't open Daz anymore, there is no shortcut on my desktop or way to open Daz other than through Central (but clicking it doesn't open Daz at all). Most of my library is third party, and it would take a long while to back it up to a different drive or redownload it all due to size. If I uninstall, and then reinstall, Daz, will my library remain untouched, or will Daz delete it all as part of the uninstall?

  • Daz to Blender not installing correctly?

I am having a huge issue with D2B bridge.  On Daz Central it lists version 2.4.0 'Daz 3D Genesis 3/8 transfer to Blender"
However, when I install it, Blender describes the plugin as "Import Export DAZ (.duf, .df) Importer" ver 1.6.2
I have tried to uninstall/reinstall but nothing seems to work.  Am I doing something wrong?  I can't import my Daz Gen 8 female to Blender on this current version.

The first is from Daz Central, the second from Install Manager - but the second to be isntalled should have respected the settings already made by the first, unless you went in and changed/reset them.

  • Why no "fit-to" option for this V4 hair?

After taking a break from DAZ Studio for several years, I'm now back at it. One problem I am running into is the apparent lack of "fit-to" options for various products. In this example, I am trying to apply a hair style to Victoria 4.2 but the hair has no fit-to option, just a parenting option. Why? Am I missing a step?

The DAZ product is "Army Combat Uniform for V4." The clothes fit fine, conforming immediately to Victoria 4.2, but not the hair. I checked the DAZ store if I could find more info, but the product is no longer available for purchase, though it's still available in my Daz Central library. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Installation Issue: Installation will begin after previous installations

    emre.bener said:

Hello, I'm also stuck at "Installation will begin after previous installations". I have no antivirus. Are there no solution for this problem?

It is saying it will begin installation after the previous isntallations have been removed. Have you checked the log? Daz Central installs multiple items when installing the Daz Studio package and at 83% it is likely that it is one of the add-ons that is sticking, not the application itself.

  • HeadShop installation update

That is the default using Daz Central to isntall, in order to simplify things for new users it taks only a single directory setting and places everything in sub-folders of that. This has been the case for quite a while now.

  • Daz Central breaks my databases

I don't know what CRM is (customer relationship management ???). I don't know how that would have anything to do with Daz Connect. I've never tried Daz Central, but it is basically a watered down DIM, so Content Gatherer should work with Daz Central content installations.

Another limitation of Content Gatherer is that it doesn't work with content installed with Daz Connect.

I know it doesn't work with anything CRM, which I think is more a limitation of Connect than anything else. (CRM files only come through Connect, right?)

I couldn't recall whether it works with Central, but not Connect... Or doesn't work with either.

I only use DIM and manual installations, so it hasn't been an issue for me.

Daz Central should respect the Install Manager directory settings - and show Managed By Install Manager in its settings dialogue - so unless soemthing is going wrong with the settings in DIM that is surprising. Are you using just the single, default profile in DIM or have you added and are you using a second profile?

Thanks for your reply. I'm just using the default profile in DAZ. I keep my assett libraries organized, i.e. sepperate asset libraries for Characters, props, environments, etc. which is where I imagine my problems come from. After my troubleshooting the other day I figured out that Daz Central was changing the default location of my Content Database Base path, which I have customized in Install Manager (not the default path). Of course, I hadn't made a note of where I had it (and forgot) so it took a while to find.

I'm not really looking for a solution. I was honestly just frustrated and needed to vent. DIM works great for what I need it to do. I was just trying Daz Central to see if there were any cool new features, and the nagging fear that DIM will be discontinued in the future (I hope they don't).

FYI, I keep my assett libraries seperate so that I can unload a library and speed up loading/processing times. For example, if my Characters library is open in Daz it can take 2-5 minutes to load a character (I have a LOT of assets in my library). But if I'm working in an active project and need animations and response times to be reasonable, I unload some libraries, load my scene, and get to work. There are more steps in there obviously but that's the jist of it. I'm not sure if this is the right way to work or if there might be a better way, but it works for me.

I do the same thing you do (re: segmenting the product installations).

I would suggest looking into Content Gatherer for archiving any projects or scene assets.

It's a stand alone product that reads your DS save file and produces a list of all the files the scene is using. It will then export the list to a text file or collect all the files into a zip file.

Then later you can unzip the archive and point DS to the content directory. You can open the scene file without having to reinstall anything because all the needed files are already where they need to be.

The caveats are...  the progam's author passed away, so it may very well stop functioning with any new DS updates... and it doesn't work on DAZ Connect / DRM / Central files. It will only work with archives that are manually installed or DIM installed.

It's saved me a lot of headaches by collecting texture, geometry, and temporary files that I would have otherwise lost.
