  • Making a Roller Shade prop for Daz3D Question

    PerttiA said:

Why not make the part going up/down a primitive plane and hide the part above the roller inside a wall, giving the impression that it is rolling around the roller.

or, assuming you are wanting the bar at the bottom and the loop, model it as a separate piece and use a morph to slide it up and down.

  • Help with G8 Eyelash Morph

This is usually done by creating a property on the figure with the same name as the eyelash morph - then setting the figure slider also triggers the eyelash control. Note that it's the name, not the label (the bit visible on the slider) that must match. You can do this by putting the Parameters pane in Edit mode (right-click menu), then right-click>Create New Property, give it the correct name and limits, done - it doesn't actually do anything to the base figure, it's just to drive the eyelash morph, but it still needs saving as a morph asset.

  • Stripes on face transfer

    Hi,

Because Daz has not compiled an Linux version (it's made in QT, so why not ?) I run DAZ Studio Pro with wine (and it works well)

    But...

I try to use face transfer and whatever I do I've got this result (see attached file).

Can you please tell me if I missed something ?

    Thanks !

  • Apply Face Transfer texture to rest of body?

    warwolf1951_ec9fcbfbd4 said:

I was just running an experiment with Face Transfer and using a painted face as my face transfer and it really came out well, was just wondering if there is a way to apply the texture from the face to the rest of the body or does FT do that automatically and I'm just not seeing it and if so if you can explain to me how it is done:) Thanks in Advance.

You would need to work on the additional textures in an image editor that can work with layers.

As it is using the real textures for the figures to make its copies from, be careful which folder you take copies from to make your new textures. If you want to use FT to make a starter set of textures to begin the journey yes there is a way. It is a little convoluted, not a 5 minutes 2 click task. When you've got the day to carefully think what you are doing and backing up files etc. doesn't bother you -- there is a tutorial by yours truly: Using-the-Face-Transfer-Plugin-in-Daz-Studio

  • Help with G8 Eyelash Morph

Yes a morph for G8's eyelashes would have to be on that geometry. And saved to it as well AFAIK. But then an additional file type can be made that requires G8 to be selected in order for it to work. Those file types are "hierarchy" ... some people really like these, others really do not.

  • How does RSSY Clothing Converter from Victoria 4 to Genesis 8 Female do with converting dynamic clot

Wow, 2 days no forum, 502.

I've been wanting to drop in here and say that, do NOT buy the old dynamic for D/S clothing items IF wanting to convert them BECAUSE they do not hold morphs. You can think you've made the morph, you can see the file that is the morph in the data folder BUT it would not display with the garment it was made for. Totally weird. I've made a lot of morphs and given all the exporting/importing/exporting/importing steps I went through to get  a nice "Angel Gown" over to G8F ... it simply would not accept/recognize any morphs. So I moved on to Plan B which the OP is in receipt of [I hope] so BuggaBoo has a gown. A gown that will hold/recognize morphs and can be used with dForce.

  • Making a Roller Shade prop for Daz3D Question

I’m taking my first baby steps into 3D modeling with Blender to make props for Daz3D. I have an idea for a prop I’d like to make but I’m confused on the Daz3D part.

I’d like to make a simple roller shade where I could be able to control the shade going up and down using a morph.

So I thought I could “morph” the shade part by making it smaller or stretch it out, but it would me a thin cube, how could I do this and would the mesh be either stretched out or smashed together which would screw up the texture??

I’m googling to figure this out but I thought I’d ask you guys too.

    Thanks...

  • What is the difference between an INJ, Shape and Morph? And how do you convert M4 INJ to G8M?

They seem to be the same thing and yet named differently. My "understanding" is they give the base figure a unique form. For example:

Lizardian sku: 10706 have the Lizard M4 INJ which applies the "lizard" form to the body.

Orken HD for Genesis 8 Male sku: 79995 has the Orken HD Character Preset (the icon says Orken Shape) which you apply to a selected G8 male giving the appearance and musculature.

And just about everything has Morphs which are sliders that apply shapes be it individual parts or entire bodies such as XTransfer Sku: 65431 . So what's the difference, if any, between the wording?

Also how do you transfer INJ, shapes and morphs from M4/V4 to G8M or G8F?  I was thinking something along the lines of:

Generation X2 (short GenX2 or just GenX) SKU: 18321 -->XTransfer    ie M4-->G3M-->G8M? Assuming you can do that to an INJ?  I'd like to try and move the Lizardian from M4/V4 to G8 model. Would this be the proper first step? And you got to convert the Mats as well. But I'd like to start with the INJ first by clearing up this question.

    Sincerely,

    Jacob

  • Website Improvements and Updates Incoming

    [moved from another thread]

...well they better get these bloody servers working better.  I'm sitting here with a perpetual swirly with the word "Loading" that's been going on for nearly ten minutes now after I clicked on the "Place Order" button.  There are only 23 minutes to go before Daz "zero hour" hits.  I haven't even been able to enter my card number yet and finalise the purchase.  To put it mildly, I will not be a very happy camper if this doesn't clear up before Daz Zero Hour (which is 23:00 where I live) and I lose the discount.

    ETA

All totalled it took about 18 min for the swirly to finally clear and let me make the purchase.  Definitely not on my end as I have a 400 mbps transfer rate.

BTW, is it just me or are the forums really, really slow all of a sudden?

  • How can I use the Dusk S.E. figure to make an auto-fit clone for G3M, G8M, & G8.1M figures?

    Eustace Scrubb said:

    scar_hand said:

My Dusk figure has auto-fit clones for Michael 4, Genesis 2 Male, Genesis 3 Male, and Genesis 8 Male figures. Is there anything I can do with these to solve the problem that I have written as the first comment in this thread?

    1. Fit the DAZ figure (G2M, for example) to Dusk per its associated "clothing" clone as a full-body garment.
    2. Zero-pose both Dusk and the targeted G2M figure.  Zero out all morphs on both except the clone morph on G2M.
    3. Hide everything except G2M.
    4. Reduce him to base resolution and SubD 0.
    5. Export as an OBJ.
    6. Unparent G2M and Fit To None.  He shoud now revert to his original shape.
    7. Load the exported OBJ as a morph target and make sure it works.
    8. Set up the new MT as a clone.

OMG! I did not know I could do this!! I have just followed your instructions and I can now use my extensive Dusk and Dawn clothing collection...thank you!

  • Help with G8 Eyelash Morph

When I create G8 eyelash morphs, I have to select the eyelashes to apply them. It doesn't work if I select the main figure.

This isn't the case with other characters I've purchased. Their eyelash morphs can be applied to the main figure without any issue. I'm pretty sure this is because their morphs are saved as part of G8, but I can't figure out how to do this with my own. Whenever I import/save the morph, it defaults to the eyelashes, not the main figure.

    My workflow:

    – Send G8 (eyelashes attached) to Hexagon

    – Modify and send back to Daz (Create a Morph)

    – Adjust settings, save as Morph Asset

Any ideas as to what I should be doing differently? I feel like I'm missing something, but I can't figure out what it is.

  • How does RSSY Clothing Converter from Victoria 4 to Genesis 8 Female do with converting dynamic clot

    WillowRaven said:

The tut Catherine3678ab sent me via PM covers what to do with V4 conforming clothes (huge help ... pictures and all). I still need to successfully convert the Angelic Gown dynamic prop to a V4 conforming dress so I can get to that step. Again, I am willing to gift the gown to the person confident (although I know there is no guarantee) they can both convert and rig the gown and provide dummy-proof instructions so I can repeat the process. I'll add Bugga Boo if you can take it the whole way and show me how.

Plugging in my Thinking Cap; I'm willing to give it a try.

    1. The Dynamic Prop for V4 does NOT have to be made into a conforming dress. Nope. I don't know how it looks when just loaded on V4. Like if it's in the air, or looking nice on V4?

If it's in the air, then run the Dynamic Clothing Control to drape it onto V4.

Then HIDE V4 {and everything else in the scene except the one clothing piece}. Export that out as an .obj file -- use the Carrara export settings. No groups are required.

Clear the scene, import in that new clothing .obj file using again the Carrara import settings, Load in G8F, NOW if you want to find that hidden V4 morph and dial it in, go ahead. Select the .obj clothing piece and from the hamburger menu on the Scene Tab, select the Transfer Utility ... Donor is G8F, "current shape" - target is the clothing .obj. Put a check mark in the option to REVERSE SHAPE or whatever it's called {D/S and browser no play nice together on my system}. Down at the bottom, check mark to add a smoothing modifier, check mark for to get some bones there - from the drop down list of every option under the Sun, pick something sensible like for "wardrobe" "full body" ... click Accept.

Select G8F, dial OUT that V4 shape, the clothing should be following and now shaped for G8F's body. Select the clothing: File > Save As > Support Assets > Figure/Prop > ... give it whatever name you want, saving it to an appropriate location: People > Genesis 8 Female > Clothing > Conversions? your name? whatever.

You have then made one gown for G8F. You can try adding a smoothing modifier and running a simulation -- hopefully it will drape nicely for you.

When you lift the arms up without a simulation, it's going to look yucky. Needs pJCMs for the armpits. And yes I know how to make those. And yes I would require the gown and Bugga Boo IF you would also like some shape morphs for Bugga Boo in the gown.

eta: a couple of pics - I tried this with a Poser Prop file that I think we all got free sometime ago in the weekly give aways.

  • How to export an obj depending on the model's software

This is just eporting daz figure obj, modeling item around figure, importing modeled item back into daz, does this mean that there is  no need for same preset in the OBJ export from Daz Studio and the Import/Morph Loader correct?

If there is no morph loader invloved then what settings need t obe the same, can you please explain it more clearly

any scaling or orientation changes are correctly reversed-can you also please explain what this means-or his is for making a morph and does not apply

the main reason I needed to know was often times an item is exported frokm  daz then out of modeling program and comes in away and small without having touched scale or orientation-that is the main problem we are trying to get over

  • How to export an obj depending on the model's software

If he is modelling around an  exported figure then he needs to use the same preset in the OBJ export from Daz Studio and the Import/Morph Loader dialogue - that will ensure any scaling or orientation changes are correctly reversed. In Maya don't make any chnages to scale or orientation in the import/export steps.

    Catherine3678ab said:

Hope you've checked your PMs by the time you see this. If that didn't help maybe consider these guys. They are for Genesis and all [well most of them] the clothes for M4 and V4 will auto-fit to Genesis -- however there is this inexpensive set which is for Genesis and it has a tunic. The sandals were in another product and the free Genesis beard is another product. Their hair comes with the characters - simply colours.

Pardon the atrocious lighting. {and the fact that these were using 3Delight Shaders and the render is in Iray}.

    https://www.daz3d.com/chibi-bundle

    https://www.daz3d.com/defiant-for-genesis

Bugga Boo is the body style of the character needed for this client. I still have to figure out how to dial her in using GM8 for the male characters. So I'll be converting the man's Angelic Robe, too, once I figure this out. This is a biblical storybook. That particular dress with wide sleeves is the style I need. Plus, I've already invested more than he paid for the project. There has to be a way to figure this conversion out and I am sure I'm the one doing it wrong.

    Tiffanie Gray - IDLM said:

Doesn't SickleYield have a V4/M4 shape for G8? Wouldn't you then be able to put the dress directly on the dialed in shape? Other shenanigans would still be needed, but that might cut out a step or two.
And I may be completely wrong/crazy!

I have a clone but am still being taught how to use it. It isn't just the clone use that's the challenge here. I have to convert a v4 dynamic dress prop and rig it to v4 first so either the RSSY script or the transfer tool will allow it to eventually 'fit' G8F, then ... that dress has to morph with the figure into the appropriate poses during an animated drape transitioning from G8F shape to Bugga Boo character and interacting with a dForce veil from another set. And I'm already late with the project and am feeling the beginning stages of panic, lol.

Y'all are being great and so very patient with me. It just sounded so doable at first. And I realize I'm asking a lot of y'all.  I'm willing to gift the Angelic Gown & Bugga Boo to whoever can pull this off and describe to me in detail how to do this myself so I can do it again for Joseph. But first, I need to check out Catherine3678ab's PM, who's generously sent me a tutorial. Let me try that and get ya'll an update.

  • Where to start with building your figure collection: MetaMixer or buy characters?

Most of my main characters are custom built using a variety of assets including the afroementioned head and body morphs. I also do have a lot of characters that I mostly use for the materials, but also for my "gene pool" when I use the sliders in the shaping pane to mix attributes without getting to the granularity of using the morph kits or assets listed below.

Outside of the head and body morphs, the main products I use are below. I did not get this all at once, but built up the collection over the last few years by wishlisting them and waiting for good sales.
