Oh, Misty, I forgot my Complaint Thread
Maybe it's too hot for everyone. It got to 94 here today...and 87 inside...central air conditioning is dead.

My render looks weird (Help)and nothing on the chosen drive? Daz Central usually works, as far as I know (I have my paths set in Install Manager so they are in different places rather than gathered in a single parent folder as with Daz Central).
Installed all content to the wrong drive, need to move it.When moving content, you have to point Daz Studio to the right location. You must set the path in Edit > Preferences > Content > Content Directory Manager.
For the installation, I only use DIM, and the you can set the installations paths by clicking the gear wheel. For DIM (and Daz Central) it is the manifest files that tells the installer where the content is installed, so if moved the manifest files needs to be updated with the new path. Manifest files is text files and can be mass edited with something like Notepad++
Installed all content to the wrong drive, need to move it.I have a dual-boot system, with C: as my boot drive (SSD), and D: as my storage drive (HDD). I installed all my content to my new computer, only to realize after I was done that I made a mistake and put everything on my boot disk instead of my storage disk. I tried simply moving all the files out of the boot disk and into the storage disk, but that made Daz Studio unable to find any of my content, and there's apparently no option to have it search for my content in a different location. I could just move it all back, which would fix the immediate issue. However, more importantly, I want to be able to move everything from the boot disk to the storage disk. The easiest way I can think of to do this would be to just do a complete teardown, uninstalling and deleting everything, and just reinstalling everything from scratch. But it seems like the only way to do that would be to go to Daz Central, click the little arrow next to Open for every single piece of content, and click Uninstall. I'd have to do this for hundreds of products, manually.
Please tell me there's a better way. I just want to start from a clean slate.
My render looks weird (Help)Well I'm not sure what you mean by how I'm doing it... I just click on the ''install DAZ Studio'' button on Daz Central, it's pretty much the only option they give me. Then I just follow the steps of the installation which are some ''Next'' buttons for the most part. At some point they give me the choice of which drive I wanna use yet even if I select my :D drive, at the end of the installation everything is on my :C drive instead.
My render looks weird (Help)It still isn't clear what you are doing, and you didn't say how you were installing. Downloads, applications, and content can all have different locations - though with Daz Central you will set only a master folder that holds each. In addition, content installed through Daz Studio itself has another possible location (by default in your documents folder, which will be on C: if you haven't moved it).
Those who Beta-tested ParticleFX the last build you got still works in 4.20+ PC/macIf you copy and paste into the right folders it works..If you use dimm or central you have to adjust the paths to point to the DAZ root folders in Documents and DAZ Main folder it is in the readme...If you dont have the last zip file I will re-share the folder with you..Mac users need to re-test please...

Rendering 2-3 hours with an RTX 2060... Way too long... If the scene fits in your VRAM, it should render normal scenes in less than an hour. 2-3 hours means it is rendering on CPU which is about 20+ times slower.
The thumb rule about Iray is one should have RAM three times more than VRAM. In your case you have 6GB's of VRAM, which isn't much for Iray but your computer would also run way better if you had 32GB's of RAM (which I consider minimum nowadays)2-3 hours is the max for a complex scene with multiple lights and something like UltraScenery. Simpler renders take much shorter. But I'll look into more RAM, thank you.
Didn't find anything obvious as the cause for not being able to connect to the database. You didn't change the path in "CMS Cluster Directory" in Content Directory Manager?
Did any updates to Windows and/or the antivirus program happen at same time when you were making changes to DS?No, I didn't change anything, and there were no updates as far as I can tell. I have a vague notion that checking the download paths in DC might have caused that, but no clear indication why it would do it.
There is a database log as well, it's located in "C.\Users\xxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Daz 3D\cms\ContentCluster\dblog.txt"
When DS and DAZ Central is not running, open that logfile, delete everything in there and save when asked. Open DS and the dblog.txt should tell what's wrong.Well... After I cleaned the log (I probably should have saved what was there before I deleted it) it remained empty. The database error still pops up on the startup of the DS, but the log is empty.
The log file contains the following lines:

Several DAZ Studio features that require a valid PostgreSQL CMS connection, such as context aware content views and loading content installed using the Daz Connect service, will not be available. Check your network, anti-virus, and firewall settings for conflicts. Now, here's a question. With all the issues piling up (and the initial matter of the 101 poses still unresolved), would it make more sense to wipe the slate clean and reinstall everything? (it might take more of my time, but it should save yours)
And a bonus question: is there a clear list of the steps to take in the right order for the error-free instal and of everything (folders etc.) that needs to be purged before the reinstal?

Restarting the computer, closes all the applications that are running, therefore it also ensures there are no other instance of the database running/closing when you try to open DS - This has occasionally been a problem, opening DS while the database is shutting down after DAZ Central ot DIM has been used.
Still at work for about an hour, but two things did immediately jump out... Although they are not the reason for morphs or the database not working, they will have an effect on how DS in general is working and how responsive it is.
1. You have just 16GB's of RAM, out of which just 8.2GB's is available at the time you start DS (way too little)
2. Your GPU drivers are too old for the version of DS you are using, DS says in the log "Please update your display driver (current version 456.71) (www.nvidia.com) to at least 471.41"I'll look at the log more closely when I get home.
Thank you for having a look. I appreciate your help.
I had stuff running in the background when I opened DS, since I knew I wouldn't be actually using it. It's not to say that I couldn't use more RAM in general (I might have some spare somewhere), but I'm not too concerned, seeing as so far, DS is working an acceptable speed (no lags, etc.) and the renders are 2-3h long max. Often even faster if it's not something complex. Though, I'm sure, in the future I'll want more RAM either way. What's the optimal amount? What's the recommended minimum?
And drivers are now updated, thank you for the prompt (I'm bad like that).

User control of install location .. make it helpful! How are you installing? DIM first appeared about ten years ago, but it had to be configured manually to install to a different folder. Now it is a snap to configure. DAZ Central, not so much, but apparently can be done. Connect just needs a path.
For existing content, you can tell Studio where to look with the Content Directory Manager, adding folders as you wish. You can also move the content to the same relative position, or make more libraries as it suits you. There are ways.

Ok, whatever that's installed with DAZ connect, will be in those "Cloud" folders in folders named "1_XXXXX", the X's are the SKU number of those products.
you can check which products they are, to reinstall them with DAZ Central if they have stopped working.I would even go as far as changing the name of the existing "Cloud" folders to "No_Cloud" and inside DS use the "Refresh Database", which should refresh the thumbnails for the products as it now sees them in "D:\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Support" instead of the "Cloud" folders.
I disagree with Richard, even when having the same folder names would work (when everything is done right), it makes it so much more difficult to fix when things were not correct, especially when you are doing it blindfolded.
Double check that DAZ Central is using the correct path "D:\My DAZ 3D Library" to install content
Yes, as far as I can tell, DAZ Central is using the correct path, though it had to be set up via DIM for some some reason ("paths managed by DIM") and setting up a path through DC causes it to freeze to "no response".
I'm seriously at a loss. Both 101 Expressions sets were installed at the same time as everything else (after the move to the external drive), and since everything else is working correctly (if there were issues with the paths, wouldn't more content or all content be affected?), I'm not sure why this specific product isn't.

Is there a way to manually download the Daz to Blender bridge? Because I tried to use Daz Central and it installs the file and script into Daz Studio, but nothing goes to Blender.
Is there supposed to be a script that is needed for Blender? Daz Central does not download the zip file needed for Blender. Am I missing something?
You need to install and activate the Blender plugin. You can find instructions / tutorials on how to do this in multiple formats:

DazCentral won't install Daz studiomimameior said:
I had this hanging install issue and tried multiple suggestions from the forum and other sites with no success. Eventually I found that closing Daz Central when it stuck, reopening and clicking install permitted it to progress the installation. A couple of times and a long time later Daz Studio installed.
Thank you. Idiotic software, but this solved it for me.

If I hide some polygons, and set subdivision level to 1,

Any suggestions? thanks!
i've already reported this to david, this have something to do with the new system to make subdivision, something wrong is happening which breaks the mesh if you cut it into pieces when using subdivisions, the old way did not have this issue but only allowed subdivison up to level 1 the new one allow to any level but you can get this issue, david told which he gonna look at this.
This was actually fixed in June and merged into both the main Daz repository and David's fork. For this bugfix and several other bugfixes and updates, please download and install the latest version from the main Daz github repository: https://github.com/daz3d/DazToUnreal/releases
This latest release will be pushed to Daz Central / DIM soon.

[Solved] 101 Expression Library F/M not working - is there a trick I'm missing?First of all, I wanted to thank you so much for taking your time to help me. I really appreciate it, because after a few months of using DAZ, I still feel like I'm mostly walking blindly around, stumbling upon issues with no good manual at hand.
Reinstallation didn't help, because (most likely) you have your content installed twice at least some of it. Once by DAZ Central and the second time by DAZ Connect within DS to a completely different location and any DAZ Connect installed content steals priority over the other installation methods, even in cases when the DAZ Connect installed content is corrupted (not unusual) and the other ones would be working.
The default installation/start up process for DS and content is inherently botched and at no point is the user warned about the pitfalls... It's so frustrating...
Indeed. When I first started, the walkthrough prompted me to download and use Daz Studio while being logged into DS was a default option. Moving my content to an external drive was a nightmare too (though done prior to getting the 101 EL, so I don't think it interfered).
If one uses external installers (DAZ Central, DAZ Install Manager (DIM) or manual installation) for the content, one should never, ever log in to DS or let DS contact DAZ servers.
Stop logging in to DS and set your startup preferences as in the attachment
In SmartContent, uninstall everything - This will remove the DAZ Connect installed content (that's been installed twice)Close DS and start it again, did your morphs start working again?
I set up the startup preferences as you indicated, but I can't seem to find an option to delete anything in the Smart Content. When I right click on the content, I only get an install option (I attached the screenshot). I even clicked on it to check if there's an uninstall option hiding there, but no, only a prompt to log in.
