Reinstalling DAZ Studio because of corruption
Yesterday, in this thread ( https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/584691/released-environment-set-splitter-commercial#latest ) I mentioned the product was crashing when I tried to excute it. Luckily, I have a secondary computer which I use for rendering without slowing my workflow on my main computer. The product ran flawlessy and so I determined the problem is related to my DAZ Studio installation.
I tried uniinstalling a plug-in that was mentioned in the on-screen crash report, but not related to the product at issue. Next, I re-imported the content library metadata. After that I uninstalled DAZ Studio with DIM and removed the download package, which tripped a DIM script infroming me to install DAZ Studio. I allowed the script to run.
Once DAZ Studio was reinstalled I ran the product again and everything crashed just like before.
So now with the background explained, my question is how do I properly uninstall and reinstall DAZ Studio so there is a fresh (uncorrupted) copy.
Do I need to unistall all of my 16,424 packages installed with DIM?
or instead do I need to unistall all the DAZ Studio plugins? If so, what do I filter just uninstall all the plugins?
I could attach the crash report file, but it is just 4259 lines of messages like this:
2025-02-26T17:24:15Z Error in metadata for product 'D-Force Crop Jacket for Genesis 8 Females' (104602), metadata for file '/people/genesis 8 female/clothing/a97/crop jacket/materials/jacket08.duf' has no corresponding file
I have not used or loaded that product in many months.
The XML file in the error reporting zip file just lists modules installed.
I have attached a screenshot of my installed plugins
import filesHi,
I used a website that generates animations from a video (plask.ai).
After generating the animation, it asks me the export format and gives me these options
glb, fbx, fbx (game engine), fbx (enhanced), bvh, bvh (with finger)
I tried to export the first two and then import them from DAZ with the Import command, but the result was terrible.
Could you please tell me the correct import procedure?
Thanks in advance.Diffeomorphic Add-ons Version 5.1.0 Releasedupdate: i tried blender 4.2.4, managed to get the shape keys and the eyelids to move with the eyes but it takes an awful long time (over an hour to import into blender), now instead of the previous issues, the weights are broken on my characters face when posing the eyes. i just want to clarify i do have 4 years experience in blender & about 2 years experience when it comes to converting daz g9 to blender, so im not a newbie... but i am at a loss right now.

So far, there isn't anything that really does it for me. Lots of female genesis 9 content and a male mohawk. Tons of that stuff already in the store.
Look at "What's Hot". Female genital anatomy morphs and pubic hair - multiple of each. I guess we are no longer their target customer.
When they released those during the Valentine's Day sale I was most displeased. Then I forgot about them until I also saw them in the What's Hot section. It'd be nice to have an option to hide products I don't ever want to see, like these. I'd rather not have this store become Renderotica 2.0, and I just find it really weird to have several products of the same type like that thrown in the banner where I can't hide them at all.
My reaction is the complete opposite. I'm glad to see this content, especially when it's done with a high level of quality. I'm glad that I can now buy this content here and have not only the discounts but also the QC and product support DAZ offers.
You and I have very different experiences with DAZ QC. Look at the number of stray files and mis-named folders in my root DAZ DIM folder.
I don't think Daz QC has ever been "good" from a customer perspective. path inconsistencies, folder and file naming inconsistencies, metadata errors, corrective morphs applying to more than the intended character, occasionally even missing files, have been happening for years and continue still.
Uh oh. I hear echos of Don McLean in my head. "They would not listen, they're not listening still. Perhaps they never will."+1

If you keep hitting next button it eventually tells you that you do need a license key to actually be able to fully install the product to your previous drive location..and the manual i downloaded that they gave to me ALSO states in the installation instructions that it needs a license key...Lol...I really hope they hit the next button a few times WITH a new install when testing the product on their end (and not using a preinstalled version they may already have on their computer which might have had a license key already) ...after you hit next, after it saying to install to your cdrive...because when you first double click the .exe file for the software (it's old software and the download file is manual installation..)...Yes..it opens, they are correct about that part...but...!...hitting next It eventually leads to saying it needs a license key before it can fully install the software and i'm personally unsure how someone could forget that their own software needs a license key? ..unless they sold their stuff for someone else to take over and something happened to the original owner? or the original owner hasn't messed with the product in so long they forgot about that, to be fair again...10 years lol...But here i wait...i hope they'll respond again soon....it's just...currently as of so far today...i can't use it yet since the install won't continue until i have a license key...I do hope the issue can be resolved, i'll update if it is...i was certianly hoping to use the product to help get the objs started to then import them into other software to make things easier/faster in the hair creating process and save a bit of time in that if possible. I purchased both the 3dprinting License as well and not just the Standard License.
If you purchased hair shop 1.0 before now as of this post today...(2/25/2025)
Did they give you a license key? if i can just use the software i literally will just let them keep my money because i really wanted to test the software out lol

Hi,
Maybe you should import the custom expressions from DAZ Posing Panel(Right Side) by Diff Import Custom Morphs
So how would I do it? I don't know how to add those .duf expressions so that they appear there in the pose menu as in the image you are showing me.
Another thing is that the expressions only work if I apply them to the face rig, because if I double click on them with the character selected, it just doesn't do anything, so I have to join both (?
They're Pose Presets rather than Custom Morphs... and in DS, those GFC FACS Pose Presets only work on Genesis 8 Face Controls node rather than G8 figures per se. But in Blender, you can directly select G8 armature to apply the pose presets ~~
Edit: BTW, though they're named as "FACS", they have nothing to do with FACS on G8.1... but just push values to joint rotations on G8.x 's face rigs.

Ok it seems my Daz Studio is the culprit and the only thing I can think of uninstall and re-install which does not make me a happy camper. My question is should I also uninstall DIM? Could uninstalling and installing content through DIM over the years have contributed to the corruption of DAZ Studio?
I tried the splitter on my overnight render PC and it works just fine. 116 sec to complete Street of Utopia.duf
Intel i7 4790K - 32GB RAM - Win 10 64-bit - Nvidia 4060 Ti 16GB
It is very unlikely that DIM would be the cause. I've been using DIM since it first appeared, and it never corrupted DS. The only thing that might get borked is the database. You could reset that, and then re-import the metadata. However, you may need to wait for Totte to say if a corrupted database could be a cause as I don't know the inner workings of Set Splitter.

Key Frame Glitch?Unfortunately, all the user complaints I encountered several years ago are present in the product today. There are an insane number of bugs and unpredictable behavior in the animations. The DAZ Studio timeline is a total nightmare to use and I believe the only solution is to use independent programs to create the animations and then import the result directly into DAZ Studio. Cascadeur has this function, but unfortunately only for the paid product. There you can create the animation in a functional interface with Genesis models, and then click on “export to DAZ”.

How can I import expressions?Hi, I'm having a problem when I want to use custom expressions in Blender.
I'm using Genesis Face Controls specifically the .duf expressions from the FACS + Phonemes folder and in Daz3D they work fine, however, I can't find a way to use those expressions in Blender.
I am using Diffeomorphic, and what I want is to convert these expressions to shapekeys format that I can use comfortably in my model.
Is this possible?
Shape/Morph not shownGo to the installed tab, select everything or just that product, right click, then select Re-Import Metadata and see if that works.
Mac OSX: Missing files even though Content Manager is set up correctlyI am not sure why the error gives an absolute path, buit I can see issues with your content directories (you have the data and people subfolders selected under Other Import Formats as well as their parent My Library folder) and in your content itself (I can see a My Library folder in the My Library folder) - nested content directrories are always a bad idea as DS can use the wrong one as a starting point for relative paths (which may be the issue with the paths starting with iMac Storage if its parent was set as a content directory on the old system) and opening an item in the inner My library folder will mean DS won't know to look in its data or runtime folders for referenced files - but that would throw a mising file error, which you are not getting in the video. The video looks more like a Connect instal (through Daz Studio) that did not decrypt correcly, so the file is found but cannot be read. Attaching your log file would help.

I have given DAZ3DIM, DzInstallHelper, and DAZStudio full disk access and check it each time I have an OS update. This is similar to what happened when I attempted to install an outfit by Lully a week ago.
After a successful installation of Content it is at Install Smart Content I have had issues. I have attached a snip of part of the Content Library's files, so they do appear. Just without metadata.

How to move file folders without borking future Content Searches? The data and Runtime folders are essential, the actual user-facing files list assets there (starting with the Data or Runtime folder) and DS uses that, with each content directory added in front in turn, to find the files needed to load the product. The People etc. folders are not vital if you use the Content Library>Daz Studio Formats (or Poser Formats) tree to load the content but are needed if you want to use the existing metadata to access content through other panes/containers.
I suspect that the video creator unpacked all the zips into a separate folder, as you are, which can be anywhere as long as it isn't a folder Daz Studio is set to use as a content directory and then they copied the Runtime, Data etc. stuff across into an actual working content directory named for the project (e.g. drive:\My content Dirs\Nearly naked Vicky in a Temple\) and set as a DFFaz Studio Formats (and/or Poser Format) content directory so that they merged together to allow everything to be loaded correctly (but without metadata-dependent features, unless they also reimported emtadata) - the advantage of using a separate drive here would be, on WIndows, that everything would be copied by default (assuming you want to leave the categorised file library alone for future projects) but as long as you use copy/paste, right-drag the folders and select the Copy option on dropping them, or hold down the ctrl ket while dragging and dropping using locations on the same drive would be fine. If the user files for the project were also placed in that folder then the whole thing colud, space permitting, be archived so that the project could be accessed easily in future.
If I were going to do something like that I would probablt also create a content directory with the base figures etc. in place to avoid having to copy the same few folders over at the start of every project.
How to Place Multiple Mixamo Characters in Single Scene (For a Dance Party)WendyLuvsCatz said:
expand the timeline and check all the filters to see if the roots are animated (usually are not)
then move those root bones to move the figures
I didn't think you could rig multiple figures at once in one file
there is usually an extra uneeded bone hierarchy you don't need to in a DAZ FBX import from Mixamo and also under display you must hide bones
Thank you WendyLovesCatz (Nice Name!)
Re-Authenticate???Ah, this is an easy one... log in to Daz Studio, I also update metadata at the same time, and Daz Studio authenticates, grants access to new free figures etc. Personally, I sign out again after that. You have to do it periodically and when you have a big system update.
