Hallo zusammen,
Beispiel: Genesis 3 geladen ---> Pose: WSV7-P08 --> Wonder Sheet 08 --> parent to...und nix. Was mache ich denn falsch? :(

A Victoria 3 pantsuit for $8 is a good deal?
If it were $5 I would likely have bought them. However, prices were once quite a bit higher than today; DAZ from 2001, thanks to the Wayback Machine...
Wow, and considering inflation that was a LOT back then. Dang, this hobby was pretty much a rich person's hobby back in the day. lol
Well - you would have to buy a computer that was able to render - quite a lot of money in those days too.

Michael and Friends Appreciation Association [Lots of images, please.]Okay, that pose was really hard. It is designed for a man who is tall 104% and a woman who is 96% and I found that most of the male clothing distorted during such a simple back arch which was a disappointment it really isn't that extreme of a stretch. I'll touch this up a bit later, but that is the closest I could get to doing the kiss.
Oh, I like that, especially the touch with the hat! And the percentages make sense from what I was working with before; Suleiman was 107% of scale and the other guy is based on Lee 6, who is 95% of scale. I only needed to do small tweaks to make them work together.
I like the expression on the lady in your picture, vwrangler. That makes the picture for me.
Thank you very much!
But, seriously, that's a great render, vwrangler. I'll let everyone else do "the kiss". Shore leave has finished and my sailors are headed for exotic foreign ports. But, for exercise on the ship, they may take dancing lessons
Slow slow quick quick slow slow quick quick...
Thanks for the nice forum and gallery comments, too :)
Thank you, and you're welcome!
I'd actually like to know what vwrangler used to make the comical old lady and the sailor with oriental ancestry. They are good.
The old lady is just Victoria 6 with lots and lots of Aging Morphs. And the sailor is just FW Ja-Long for Lee 6 in Slosh's naval uniform.Flash Sale Alerts IINew things in fastgrab: http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/
WTF? Victoria 3 clothing for around 8 $ each ... in Fast grab ... they are kidding right? If this would be the regular price it would be high....
Different strokes... . .
I would have been happy as Larry to see any John Malis M3 products in Fastgrab any time in the last couple of years. 70% is pretty good if you want stuff from an artist whose work is seldom on sale.
This sale may have made a V3 and Uzilite fan or two real stoked.
Pretty much all of John Malis's store was 83% off a couple of days back (if you bought a new release), and I grabbed a stack of his stuff for just a few dollars each.

A lot of items are naturally more expensive due to the market back then. If it's any consolation, they were just on Mega Fast Grab...

With the PA sale going on, there doesn't seem to be too much attentoin on FastGrab items. The previous items were in fastgrab for several days without changing.
Which is okay for me, we have a couple of 80+% off sales during the festival, so a 70% off sale is not a big deal now. :)
I hope we'll see a better selection of items in fastgrab after the PA sales.Flash Sale Alerts IINew things in fastgrab: http://www.daz3d.com/fast-grab-3d-models/

Flipping hands on White KnightYou'll thank me once we have a working gauntlet.
Alright, now the tricky part.Save the Scene cause this might mess up the glove. We do not want to repeat this from the beginning.
1. After saving the Scene, select File - New to work on a new file.
2. Load Gen 3 Female figure into the scene. Just Gen 3 Female, no Victoria, no nothing.
3. Go to File - Merge. Select the Scene with the gauntlet. That will bring the file into this new scene, but the original Scene should be safe.
4. Go to Edit -> Object -> Transfer Utility.
5. There it will open a new window. Select Genesis 3 Female as the Source. The Mirrored Gauntlet should be the Target.
6. Select "Show Options" to see more options.
7. From "Projection Template" choose "Gloves".
8. As "Content Type" at the very end choose "Follower/Wardrobe/Glove/Left/Right" depending on whether the glove is left or right.
9. Choose Accept. DAZ will do calculations. Now try posing the hand. Check if the glove functions correctly. If it works, do this:
1. Go to File - Save as -> Support Asset -> Figure/Prop Assets.
2. Name it so you recognize the file for future use. A window will pop up now.
3. As Vendor Name, input the name of the Vendor that created the original Item.
4. As Product Name give it "White Knight for GF3 Mirror Gauntlet".
5. As item name you can give it any name you wish it to have.
6. In Metadata, set the Content Type as "Follower -> Wardrobe -> Glove -> Right/Left (depending on hand it is for)"
7. Set Category as Default/Wardrobe/Gloves (just copy this text and input it there)
8. As Set Compatibility Base choose "Genesis 3 /Female". You will have to search for it a bit, but its there.
9. Set Compatible With the same as above.
10. Unmark "Compress File".
11. Accept. In case you have Poke-Through happening with the glove:
1. Select the Gauntlet.
2. Go to Edit -> Figure -> Geometry -> Apply Smoothing Modifier. Then just save the prop.
Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2Is there a Victoria 4/4.2 character that resembles Polly Walker (Rome, Mr. Selfridge, Caprica, Restoration, etc.)? She has such a striking face (not to mention figure) that it'd be odd if no artist had yet essayed such a project. Actually, I do seem to vaguely remember some V4 characters that have her general facial look, but I can't remember who they're named, and a search of the forums didn't turn up anything.
iray skin needs its own base mixing....So if you put a diffuse map in that channel and then leave the color white, because you expected the map to be providing the color, your transmitted color is effectively white, because Iray hasn't got any color information to work with.
Transmitted Color, I'm gathering from the preceding, should be an RGB value (or whatever that decimal number that Iray uses is) that approximates that character's skin tone, or as close as you can get.
The decimal number is the color in linear space, its range from 0.00 to 1.00 is larger than that for the common RGB from 0 to 255. If you've got both a linear space and RGB value for a color, the linear space one is the one more accurate. DS's color picker tends to round linear space values, so when checking your color in that don't klick on "OK", or you might get slightly changed linear values in the process. Negligible if you receive a linear space value from directly putting in RGB color values.
It's even worse... Even if you have a specific color defined, Iray seems to get confused about to find a texture map where there really shouldn't be one and seems to use the default values instead.
Below a little render example: I removed the face's diffuse map and set Translucency Color and SSS Reflectance Tint to neutral (255-255-255), Glossy Layered Weight to 0.00 and Translucency Weight to 0.98 to get the normally faint transmission more visible.
SSS-1: the figure's color is now only of the color defined in Transmitted Color.
SSS-2: plugging a diffuse texture map into the Transmitted Color texture map slot the figure's color changes to white, since now albedo, translucence and SSS are set to white; for comparision SSS-3 shows the outcome if someone would set the Transmitted Color to 255-255-255 white in the first place.
Yes, too much grey on the back character in such a brightly lit room.
The "too much grey" is the result of too dark (wrong) Translucency Color, SSS Reflectance Tint and Transmitted Color for the default Genesis 3 Iray materials. Depending on the lighting, the "too much grey" can turn into "too much green". Which would be okay if you'd do a render of Star Trek's Mr. Spock, which's hemoglobin is based on copper instead of iron.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. That is what I was talking about; translucency weight maps(b&w) have such details as veins. I just thought Laurie had removed them.
I guess you're talking about those texture maps which carry a "SSS" in their name, which do have those blueish veins painted in. That are no "Weight Maps", that are additional texture maps (some are simple "Mask Maps", which's dark parts are thought to prevent that darker parts of a Diffuse Map (hair, hairstubs, brows...) getting tinted by Translucency Color). And most of them are not B&W, they're RGB color maps. You can't put blueish veins on a greyscale B&W map.
Except for very few exceptions (Victoria/Michael 5's and Genesis 2 Base Female and Male's "Bree" and "Phillip", and Stephanie 5's "Michelle", named texture sets) DAZ's Base Figures and Characters aren't shipped with a special "Translucency Weight" map (carrying a "TL" or "T" in their names) anymore.
What you get with a Genesis 3 figure/character nowadays is Diffuse Maps ("D"), Bump Maps ("B"), Specular Maps ("S"), Translucency (Mask) Maps ("SSS") and normal Maps ("NM"). And some Transparency Maps ("T"/"TR") for eyes and eyelashes. Which are currently created to work in both 3delight and Iray, altough current Diffuse Maps are now free of additional lighting, reflection or shadow content directly painted in. Specular Maps still don't meet PBR requirements (wrong colors, too bright, so they're abused as "Gloss Weight" maps).
A PBR renderer doesn't work very well with "traditional" texture maps, and altough I understand (and stronlgy support) the OP's call for a skin-specific PBR shader, without appropriate Specular, Gloss/Roughness Maps we'd still have to counteract wrong outcomes by tweaking and fiddeling... sometimes including a "primal scream therapy" and/or almost eating your keyboard.
