New Addition Living Environment  Adore this set. It's huge. The vendor has all the lights done for you as one of the options. If you have trouble doing indoor lighting with Iray, this is a great set for you. (And even if you love doing lighting. And even if you don't care one way or the other. Or even if...)

I love the look of the materials with the lighting- they look very real. The floor, the furniture- everything.

Harley is wearing Anny Hair, Sunday Casuals: Basics   Which NOTE- the actual  outfit is NOT LOCATED IN GENESIS 3 FEMALE. It only has the materials there. You have to go to Genesis 2 to find the outfit. That seems like an error to me in file structure? If not, for sheer convenience if used for more than one generation, it should be in that generation.

Myrina for Olympia 7 is H&C Tight Sportswear shirt kitbashed with Business Suit pants. She's wearing Christina Hair.

I don't know that anyone has gotten around to making morphs for any of the new figures. Latest figure I have any morphs for are the first Genesis and taht's for the TOS and TNG crew and I think 7 of 9. I remember a Janeway morph but I don't know if i's still out there or not. It was for Victoria 4 and I know there's a program that let's you transfer morphs from V4 to the first Genesis, I don't know if there's one that will move them up to the G3 figure yet though.

Same program that moved them from M4/V4 to Genesis also does the latest figures G2 and G3.

    Thanks guys!

Yeah, the generation X2 has been updated to work with G3 models. But I am holding off buying it, untill I find something I can convert. :D
I think Hoshi Sato will be a tough one to find though :/

  • Victoria 7 promo image with white hair and cheek dimple...what character is this?

Hi. Recently I have seen a lot of victoria 7 promo ads, but the model has white hair and a huge cheek dimple. It looks a lot like Jennifer Garner. Anyone know if this is a morph or another character?

    Hey Guys,

I appologize in advance if I am asking something that's redundtant or has been answered a million times before. I just joined the forums a few days ago and tried searching but did not get anything. I have done modeling in maya and max before so modeling it and bringing it into Daz is my last resort.

I am working on some sort of series of renders for the 50th anniversary (no sure to what end, but looking to create montages of popular characters). Is there any face/body morphs for Janeway and/or Hoshi Sato for G3 figure out there?

I don't know that anyone has gotten around to making morphs for any of the new figures. Latest figure I have any morphs for are the first Genesis and taht's for the TOS and TNG crew and I think 7 of 9. I remember a Janeway morph but I don't know if i's still out there or not. • Headshop weirdness

Let me start by saying that I really love Headshop 10.2 for coming up with new characters.  But, it is a very glitchy program.  One of the really strange effects happens when using HS on Gen 3 faces.  For whatever reason, after exporting the head back to Gen 3, the teeth get really weird...often sharp and pointy, or with big gaps.  This doesn't happen when using HS with Gen 2.

Another oddity is the tendency for HS to create a near exact head shape with a photograph within the plugin, but not nearly so close when exported back into DS.  I usually have to do a lot of post HS tweaking with other morphs to get the right shape.

Also, on some head shapes, I'll get weird ripples in the surface of the mesh.  I'm not sure where they originate.  Likewise, you can get some really lumpy noggins if you place a shape dot in the wrong spot.  If there were some sort of averaging tool (similar to the Smoothing dial) for the Autodots, it might insure that you don't get a dot out of a smooth curve.  I've notice that if I get a lumpy area, it is near impossible to fix it.  Most of the time, it is easier to just start over.

After reading and looking at all the various tutorials available, the interface is still somewhat a mystery.  I can find no explanation as to what the "Copy" arrow does in the "Profile" tab.  Whenever I try to use it, I get an error that HS could not execute the command and will try to continue.  Everything seems very straight forward in the tutorials and menu.  But, what actually happens compared to what I'm attempting to create are often very different.  It would be nice to have a thorough explanation of how the shape and texture dots affect the mesh.  I mean, the dots don't seem to actually match specific mesh points.  So, I'm not sure when I change a point on the jaw line, if I am pushing the mesh back or out on the x or z axis.    Also, I have yet to figure out what the heck the neck dots actually do.  Messing with them is usually a bad idea.

Perhaps some sort of specific point reference chart would help...i.e. "dot x defines the position for lower junction of the ear." or, "dot y must be positioned at approximately the lower corner of the jaw."  It would just help to know what I am affecting when I move a dot.  You can get very strange results if dots are moved outside their intended parameters.

I'm using a fairly robust system...current generation i7 with 16gb memory and GT970m graphics.  But, I still find that the line tool will hang the system.  And, the smoothing control will fail to function at all.  Half the time, when exporting, I'll get an "Export Successful" message, then a "Headshop has ceased to function" message.  Sometimes, the exported face works fine, regardless of whether or not Headshop ceases to function.  Sometimes, HS just crashes and no morph is exported back to Daz.

Also, instead of using "custom obj" to model Gen 3 figures, why not just make each variety of Genesis (or Victoria), a check box selection?

I fully realize that HS is not supposed to be a competitor to ZBrush, or Blender...etc.  But, I do think that it has room for improvement.  Perhaps, dropping the hair and 3d statue sections would be a good idea for DAZ users.  I don't know how many overall...but, I'm guessing that very few Daz users have a need for the statue add ons.

I really enjoy creating characters.  And, HS10.2 is a great alternative to full blown modeling programs.  I do hope that the developers continue to improve it.  I would suggest to Laslo and the other programmers at Abalone, that a much more detailed manual would be very helpful.

I'd be very interested in hearing from other users that have experienced some of these issues with HS, especially if they have worked out how to fix them.  I certainly haven't ruled out the possibility of my own ignorance causing my troubles.

Hopefully you grabbed the Glamour Bedroom while in Fast Grab. I know it's hard to look past some ultra bright colors, or perhaps textures/materials you may not like, but just try to see the structures/props and think "SHADERS."  So all I did was change out the wall colors and textures (I just went into Textures and into different sets, these walls are actually a CARPET. )  The chair is part of the Glamour Bedroom props.

The wall on your left is the one with three blobs, I simply filled them in with the same texture as the wall, did about a minute of streaking postwork and done.

That's FWSA Finley (And Her Jewelry) wearing Vidra Hair, Fun Saturday Outfit (pants), Men's Shirt.  She's trying to figure out RW Classic Chess.

TIPS: Remember to change white items to gray in Diffuse so you get prettier shadows and avoid washouts.  Also, use Rotation when seating your figures in these kind of chairs. I tend to forget and use only translations. She is rotated slightly back into the chair.

EDIT: Looking at that shirt, it would be good for a server at that Steakhouse.

Lighting is Dimension Theory's DAZ Studio Iray HDR Outdoor Environments, using Maui. Environment Intensity 1.93, Environment Map 4.09,

Film ISO 297.66, Exposure Value 12.65     In other words, crank it up on this one.

    Where?

    Try: http://www.daz3d.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=pro+bundle

Then click 'Show All' next to the top set of results, and scroll down to see the 70% off bundles.

    Currently, I see Leo 7, Olympia 7, Michael 7, Arabella 7, Teen Josie 7, Scott 6, Karen 7, Bethany 7, Eva 7, Victoria 7, Ninive 6, Callie 6, Monique 6, Darius 6, Keiko 6, and Supersuit Pro Bundles.

The 70% off pricing puts the pro bundles at below the cost of the starter bundles (40% off), so if any of those are on your wishlist, get buying.

Thanks. I wonder if it will last or if it is an error that will tempt us and disappear.

There's now a banner that says "60% off featured pro bundles with any purchase over $1.00", 50% off without purchase.

Maybe the 70% off is for PC members only? Or maybe it's all a giant pricing mistake.

Update: for PC+ users, the final price if you add an item is lower still. Add, say, Edwardian Accessories for $2.99, and you can pick up a typical Pro Bundle for about $29.

Got the Eva banner. Yay, now since I haven't picked up her for 1.80 without additional purchases, I'm allowed to pick her up for 5.00 with additional purchase. Let me see, how big is the chance I'll take advantage of that? Oh yes, zero.

(For those who want to tell me I'm ungreteful: It's a great price for a DAZ character, but I don't see any advantage from her shape and skin, there are only two characters based on her, so I'll pass. If it would have been Victoria, I would have picked her up. There are waaayyy more characters based on Victoria, and they keep popping up in the store. Eva seems just like generic skin and shape, barely away from Victoria. Plus I just picked up Arabella, with her beautiful goth makeups. What else does a girl need?)

The front page new releases keep doing the swirlie thing for me. I think the site is ill. Probably due to the flu season starting soon. cheeky

Oh hey, I just got my orange banner. With TWO MINUTES left of the day. Thanks, Daz!

As we launch this year's PC+ sale, we want to extend a special thanks to those of you who have shown so much support for us.

Thanking us by slightly reducing the cost of an on sale item that most of your loyal customers who fit the criteria would have already bought - if they buy an additional bundle first?

I would have really liked this deal, so don't knock it! lol

As someone who only has Victoria 7, getting Eva 7 would have been really nice.

I think I mentioned this in the anniversary pc+ thread, but it would have been really cool if we could buy Eva at the offer price and then gift her to someone else. Would give at least some of us a reason to make an extra purchase and make someone who actually really wanted it happy.

To be honest I'm pretty sure I got her for less than that offer sometime earlier this year >.>

Really!? Sweet! That gives me hope! :) I have my eye on a couple of the "7" figures and Eva is one of them. I've seen some great renders with her and she looks pretty good, and I hear good things about her. :)

I was lucky enough to get the Eva 7 banner, and the figure for $1.80.

Can't figure out how I qualified, though. As a Poser user, I can't use G3, so I can't imagine that I've got 5 or more G3 characters in my purchase history...

I bet you do. That's, as far as I can tell, what makes one qualified - as multiple people said it's something to do with buying "five or more G3 figures".

Yeah, that's what I'm surprised about. My product library has Victoria 7, Katsu for Lee 7, and now Eva 7. That's all I can find. Certainly not five! :)

Hmmm That's very strange in deed. As far as I can tell you're the only person who I've been talking with about it who has gotten the $2 Eva 7 deal without having gotten the "five+ G3 figures" that has been mentioned. Did you spend a lot during the PA sale? Perhaps that's also a factor? *shrug*
