  • Would People Be Interested in Realistic G9 Bicep Morphs?

One thing that I do not like about Genesis 9 is biceps. When placed in the traditional flex position, the biceps just look completely off and rubbery. I have every single musculature morph on the market. Some help, some don't. I usually just pose the figure, export as an OBJ to blender, and sculpt away.

Then it got me thinking, there several "body part" themed morphs on the market. Some for smiles, some for tongues, anywhere from your nipples to your navels. Heck, a few for anatomical parts as well. So, why not bicep morphs? I am by no means good at sculpting, so I would not be the person to do it. I thought people could voice their interest and inspire a would-be creator to look into it.

Or this thread could offer suggestions to other users on how to "fix" their bicep problems.

  • I personally like to see more draconic options and add-ons for Genesis 8 and 9 + more tail options

SY Skin Blends and Transformations Genesis 9 can help you with taking full body scaly skins (don't know if geoshells will work with this) and limiting them to just parts of the body.  Second to last promo shows it being able to make patterns that could look like "markings".  I've used it with shaders with good results.  FenixPhoenix makes some cool skins that look reptillian, I don't have any of them myself yet, but I very much want them.

As for tails, wings, horns, etc., you might want to check out RawArt and JoeQuick.  They are AMAZING with creatures.  Take a look, especially, at Drago for Genesis 8 Male(s), I have that one and love it.  When looking, check the "What's Included and Features" section towards the bottom of the page, that will give you important info.  Drago by JoeQuick, for example, is all morphs, so if you change the morph around it will probably change the feet as well.  BlutStone by RawArt, however, shows that it has "Gargoyle Feet Geografts", which means that you can use those on other characters without affecting morphs (and they look like they'd be great dragon feet!).  However, it will be harder to get skins to match than if you used a morph.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi crosswind,

    your result looks great!

I dont need to go back to Daz from Blender cause I only need it for printing.

I try to sculpt it in blender but it looks horrible. Think I have to learn much more.

    Ralph

I couldn't share OBJ file or Blender project so I saved it as a modifier (morph) asset. You can extract the data folder within the attached ZIP file to the root path of your Daz Library where you installed this outfit.

Reload the jacket, you'll find the Jacket Close morph. Then dial the morph and export the whole jacket  to Blender for further refine / manipulation.

  • MimicMolly's Renders & WIPs

I am now going to try to draw another OC to combine with a DAZ render but she may be tricky because of her headdress. Her name is Aryanna, she works as a Court Mage. But her real job is being the previous character's (his name is Lord Ernest) partner/significant other. Her specialty is healing/regenerative magic, but visually her aesthetics evoke death/the grim reaper. She's supposed to have a cape and in combination with her headdress, she's supposed to resemble an iron maiden. Anyway, she is the OC to blame for me immediately buying Death 9, specifically the Apocalyse Add-On. And no, Aryanna is not a magical creature or fae, she is a regular woman who just looks like this.

Edit: I finished the drawing. But since the result is meant to be "pure" 2D and not 3D posing as 2D, I will just update this comment with the DeviantArt link (goes to my main/drawing account.) [x]

I actually like the base reference pose for her and may try to render it as is, since I may end up changing her leg pose to fit the reference sheet dimensiosn. I decided to put Olympia 9's eyebrows on her since they were of a similar thickness and it made her look like the Corpse Bride.

She is one of my simplest OC morph mixes. Her head is 50% V3D Nena, 25% HH Belle, and 40% Phx Flynn. Her body is also a mix of Nena and Belle, and a G8F morph I converted but what matters is that she's supposed to be slim but hourglass-shaped. I know Flynn has a female add-on, but I specifically mixed the original male shape to widen out the jawline and chin a bit. A lot of female DAZ characters have really small, pointy chins that not only look unrealistic, but when combined it looks "off." So that's why I either try to widen the chins or mix in a "masculine" head shape, like I did here.

Well, the initial shape of the sleeves (at least the right side) was not well set for being draped for sitting poses ~~ even if you gave them optimal settings on dynamic surfaces. As usual, I still suggest you reshape (grab / smooth) the sleeves (directly or after a simulation) in Blender. Then import OBJ as a fixing shape ...

BTW, thanks for the hot coffee !

Glad you liked the coffee! @crosswind

Does the whole sweater need to be exported to Blender with weight node?

Which Blender sculpting tools do you recommend using and are they used only on the curves parts of the sleeve?

How is the sweater imported as fixing shape,  not sure how? Can it be imported as a Morph using Morph Loader Pro?

I remember that the sleeves are not a separate wearable, so yes, you need to export the whole sweater. It doesn't matter if it is with or without weight node.

As usual, export the sweater with Base Resolution plus the figure (Filter Objects > Selected Roots).  In Blender, reshape the sleeves with Grab brush and Smooth brush... so as to align the sleeves to the figure to make a "draping result" as needed.

As usual again, Export the sweater to OBJ file. Import it in DS with Morph Loader Pro. Set Reverse Deformations as Yes, Overwrite Existing as Delta Only.

  • Problem adding morphs to "Idol hair"

Enable Smoothing on this hair is On. You just need to turn it Off before sending the hair to Blender. Then after importing / dialing the morph, you won't get the issue as you mentioned. Then set Enable Smoothing back to On, and set Smoothing Type as Generic.

  • Request - Rope for Climbing Props

    Hi,
There's one product I would love to see and that is a rope prop collection for climbing.
For example rope connected to a grappling hook for climbing a cliff for Adventuers, Spys and Agents, Cat Burglars.
And you can morph or move the rope around and make it longer for certain scenes, things like that.
Is that possible? Or is there something out there.

  • Hexagon 2.5.2.109, General Release!

    n.aspros123 said:

I understand that Hexagon was created by the marketing manager that was part of Z Brush and purchased by the devs of DAZ Studio?

No. Hexagon was the successor to Amapi and was developed by the French company Eovia (hence the name, hexagon being a nickname for France due to the country's main borders' shape).

Will Hexagon ever be updated from version 2.5.2.109?

I've used Hexagon a few times and it's a useful tool and it's easier to transfer characters and clothing to and from compared to Blender which throws a geometry mismatch if your don't get the settings correct for an export/import an .obj file.

A Morphing Mainsail for Yachts: A suggestion from this post: looking-for-small-sailboats-with-manipulable-furlable-collapsible-sails

    Attachments:

    Details:

    • Luff length as modelled = 14.15 meters:  Scale the prop to suit your purpose.
    • The Tack loads at (0,0,0): Parent the sail to the Tack attachment point of your mainsail boom.
    • Includes a morph to shape the sail for Port or Starboard tack.
    • Includes a morph for the Stowed shape (flaked onto your boom).
    • Includes a nice blue sail cover for the Stowed shape.
    • Not included: Mast, boom, standing rigging, running rigging, deck, hull, tropical lagoon, drinks, party guests...

    Hope you find it useful.

  • Can I Exclude a Camera from Undo/Redo?

Does anyone know of a way to exclude the camera (the one I'm viewing the scene through) from the Undo/Redo buffer?
I always create a camera and view the scene through that, when working in Daz Studio.  The problem is that every pan, rotation, and zoom of the viewport when looking through that camera, counts as an edit that adds itself to the Undo/Redo buffer.  For example, if I adjust a morph dial and then pan, rotate, and zoom the camera to view the edit from different angles, and then decide that I don't like the morph dial adjustment.  Well, in order to undo the morph adjustment, I first of all have to click to undo the zoom, and then again to undo the pan, and then again to undo the rotation, and yet again to undo the actual morph adjustment I made.
So I'm wondering if there's a way to prevent the (viewed-through) camera navigation, from being collected in the Undo/Redo buffer in the first place.  It's drivng me absolutely nuts, and it would be a real sanity saver if there was a way to exclude it from the buffer!

Using dForce, I have animated a sail being lowered, and of course the final state can be saved as a simple "Sail Stowed" morph:

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/7913246/#Comment_7913246

But it was very fiddly, and needed a lot of "dForce helper" nodes that were animated via script.

I'm sure someone with better dForce skills could simplify and improve on this.

Oh wow, that looks terrific! Which boat were you using, the yacht here at DAZ? Would you consider making the lowered / stored sail states into morphs and uploading them as freebies? - Sorry, don't mean to hijack OP's thread! But I hope it's okay, being in line with the original inquiry.

Thank you.  The yacht model is not available from DAZ or anywhere else - its a model I made based on photos of a particular real yacht, and I would not sell or give the model  without permission from the owners of the original design.

But I will see if I can make from this a freebie of a generic triangular sail, with raise/lower controls, which should be easily adapted by anyone via simple scaling, rotation, etc. - if the OP does not mind.
