My Project: Brash Lonergan adventures - Warning AI Discussion Possible
My very own Lorenzo Lorez, so to speak.
As always, suggestions welcome.
Good job buddy, getting better and better, I always thought that original story is always bettter with original characters ...
Seeing StoneMason's models and canned Victoria's with swords and dragons and same motion files used over and over again in so many different stories told is a bit stale.
As a 3D modeler I always remind people that modeling characters (or anything else fot that matter) in itself is an art and it's just like sculpting in real life and it can have its own "story", so model away, I't cool to watch your skills grow

Beautifully written, FifthElement! I agree wholeheartedly!
Thanks, lol, on this very subject I agree with myself too
Can Victoria 4 & 7 files for hair, wings, ect. work on Victoria 3 base or any Genesis base modles1. some items could be parented to Victoria 3 and Michael 3 but theya re very old figures and there are very limited ocnversion options (there are iconic shapes for Genesis that will allow the conversion of their clothing to Genesis, I'm not sure what options there are for the reverse.
2. the morphs allow you to chnage the shape of the figures
3. no
4. Yes - if correctly installed they will appear in the Content Library pane under Poser Formats
5. Generally human and clothing textures can't be used on most other models. Other textures vary.
6. Save as a supported format - .png, for example
7. I'm not sure what you mean
8.
9. No, Bryce items are specific to bryce - even with Bryce there are limits on what can be exported.
Anthro modelsok can stuff for victoria 4 like this http://www.daz3d.com/melody-2-0 be made to fit the newer models
Note that Melody 2 isn't really "for V4", it's a prop head that can be parented to any figure. The tricky bit is going to be getting textures that will fit both the figure and the head without too many awkward seams showing.
thanks for the info spotty, now I am steaming a little because I just found out there are a few antro forms for the gen3 male but no female version of them. Any one got hints or tps on how to make elebeast, crawk , rinehold or jawz look female?
Can Victoria 4 & 7 files for hair, wings, ect. work on Victoria 3 base or any Genesis base modlesHello every one, I am a NEWbie here at Daz & TYVM a head of time for your assistance in my questions :)
I did try to find answers to my questions on the forums & knowledge based n video areas here at Daz .. but i was unsuccessful in my search :)
over the Xmas freebies I got VICTORIA 3 & MICHEL 3 BASE, I also picked up the head & body morphs for them & other content, so my questions will based off of the content I have.
pleez feel free to provide any links to vids or articals, I really like to read n study this :)
My questions are:
1. Can I use a victoria 4 or 7 or any Genises hair, clothing, wings, textures for clothing I choose on Victoria & Michel 3 base models & ALL of the Genesis base models ? ( are these files back ward compatible ? ) & ( if all genesis models can easily be customizable can I use any of the other clothing, hair, wings, excreta) from the other models ? (like V & M 4 or 7 or Lilith hair or clothing ?) & ( if not compatible .. is there a way to do this ?)
2. Wat exactly do the head & body morphs do for V3 & M3 ? or any of the models & why are the morphs important or needed ?
3. Do the head & body morphs also make the models compatible wit other files that are NOT V3 & M3 (hair, clothes, nails, skin colors, excreta.) ?
or do this just give more options in face & body poses ? ( smiles, eye brow movements, mouth, arms, legs movements, excreta ) ?
4. Can I use Poser files in Daz ? & can they be used on any of the models or backgrounds, I choose/ purchased , excreta. ( like all of the G or V & M3) but NOT own the Poser program ? & if not wat do I need to do to use poser files in Daz on model or background I choose to purchase ?
5. Can any texture files work on any clothing or backgrounds, hair, excreta ? on any model or BG ? ( can i use a texture for a specific piece of clothing I did not purchased & use that same txture files on a different piece of clothing that was not originaly made for ?) & if not is there a way to do this ?
6. Will Gimp & Blender files be compatible wit Daz ? ( If NOT how or wat do I need to do to be able to go back n forth between them ) is there another FREE program that is compatible wit Daz that helps make this easier ?
7. I also picked up a free background during Xmas freebie.. can I use any other back ground files to give my background the look i want ? (colors, rocks, grass, excreta) n can I find any content that can work together on any back grounds ?
8. As I was researching n studying the info on Daz web site I saw a page that had LINKS to renderosity & a lot of other sites that gave free content, I went to a few sites (renderosity & ShareCG) I made accounts on both sites & I was trying to find content,
My problem was how do I put these files in to the CORRECT folders & is there a program that can help me with this ? (like the daz install manager) I have made a big mess of the files I DL'd from those sites n I like to keep them organized. lol.. if there is any way to fix this or a program to help me..
9. Can Bryce files work in Daz on the BG I purchased but NOT own Bryce ? if not is there a free option that is compatiable wit Daz to make the BG have the look I want ? & edit the BG ?
I am sorry for SO MANY questions..lol.& sorry if they sound redundant.. I am new here :)
I am currently trying to re educate my self n I'm taking online classes in this area again after a accident that caused me to be physically disabled, I unfortunately do not have the $ to buy Poser or any of the other programs. Pleez refer me to FREE options that is compatible wit Daz, & I am trying to relearn :)
I VERY MUCH APPRECIATE your help and your time :) TY
Happy 3D' ing :) every one
Question about Leo 7 MorphMonique 7 has no translation on hip or root. Neither does Genevieve 7, Teen Josie 7, Olympia 7, or Karen 7. Finally on Eva 7 I found a translation of 1.00 on the hip. Dialing Eva 7 body morph also seems to change the character's height a little bit, but nothing as drastic as Leo. I don't understand the need to make the body morphs behave inconsistently like that.
The deformation of Leo's fingernails is an outright bug and should be fixed. People probably haven't noticed, if it's not a huge deformation, because they don't necessarily pay that much attention to hands, depending on what the character's doing in-scene.
The height issue, unfortunately, probably won't/can't be fixed. Given that we're over a year in and I don't think Leo got any post-intro-period characters based on him, there's really no point. (I think, but will not swear, that of the males, only Michael, Kimo, and Lee got characters based on them after the first month. Not sure how far post-intro that Ragnar for Gianni 7 was, but he's the only non-intro-bundle Gianni guy. And he's an illustration of how things should work, because he's a wee tiny thing for a Gianni guy; he doesn't have any of Gianni 7's height scale.)
Eva was the first post-Victoria female, and Leo was the first post-Michael male. I wonder if maybe this was a change they were considering that got abandoned, since it never got picked up for any other figures.
I wish there were Dragons or Train stuff to trigger the Dragon and Trains saleThere's the Woman on a train Poses. I think that's the connection.
Imported .obj...where's its material/skin?So I'd like to use an item outside of the Daz store Install manager system...
I can IMPORT the .obj and see the object/file inside Daz Studio 4.9. Yay.
The object is grey and needs its skin/material. How do I get Daz to BROWSE for a skin/material file or also IMPORT files onto the selected object in my scene?
I googled this and I saw a reference to the library manager and adding directories so my new objects show up in the Smart content tab. Didn't add any new items...
I've moved all the files that came with the object into the "open file location" place that DAZ uses for all my other items. So I know it's within the Daz scope of things it could find in the runtime library. I want to manually add the material by navigating to it or importing it into DAZ.
There must be way to ADD material to Daz....but how?
-------------------------------------------------
Somewhat unrelated, but I don't know if it's proper etiquette to start numerous threads at once.....
I've edited...say victoria 7 into a brand new character. How do I SAVE that as an independent figure or actor so I can load her directly?
I googled this too and say the reposnse about Tri-weight etc....any new method so I can create people?
Merchants are selling "people" based on FIGURES so how is character creation handled?
I have poser too, but want to do everything is Daz...
Thanks for any help.
Compatibility with other modelsIf the requirements say that you need Victoria 7, that means you need it to make the shape look like in the promotion. If you use it without V7, then there will still be changes to the shape when you apply the character/shape, but it will look slightly different, as some morphed shape of V7 is missing. So, for example, the face might be wider without V7, or eyes are differently shaped.
So, if you buy A7, and have a charactter that needs V7, then of course you can use the shape dials to dial in A7, and then the character, but the result will look different then the one you get if you use V7. I'm not at my rendering-PC right now, or I'd give you an example.
EDIT: Found something... From this thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/1673176/#Comment_1673176
http://www.daz3d.com/hp-myrtle-for-star-2-0-and-aiko-7
The character Myrtle requires Star 2.0 and Aiko 7. The example shows the differences in the head shape.
Myrtle, Myrtle with no Star, Myrtle with no Aiko: https://postimg.org/image/91t6sge99/
EDIT 2: Here's a comparision - The character, Kelly for Aiko 6, requires Aiko 6. It uses the base dialed in at 0.5 (you can see that in the shape tab, body and head shape if you'd check).

The left girl is Kelly used on Genesis 2 Female base, with Aiko 6 dialled back to 0.
The girl in the middle is Kelly using the 0.5 Aiko (character preset load), which is as she's supposed to look.
The girl to the right is Kelly shape used in combination with 0.5 Victoria 6.
As youi can see, while the Kelly shape can be used without Aiko 6, each mixture brings different results.
Compatibility with other modelshey im wondering if i buy aiko 7 which is G3 and i buy a character that say its compatible with G3 but requires victoria 7 or any other model can i still use the same morphs on aiko or would the Aiko 7 and Victoria 7 model morphs would have to be applied to Gen 3 or how does that work?

Question - Poses, do you want specific shape presets or do you like to tweak? Thanks, zombiewhacker (love your name, btw.)
The current set I'm building will be confined to the base Genesis 3 Mlae and Female and Michael 7 and Victoria 7. It was going to be more, and I may add more couples as updates to the product as time allows. I'm just trying to get it into the store front first. :) (In all honesty, I'm really looking forward to giving out the George/Opal couple presets.)
And I'm looking into doing partial poses on this set as well. It won't be a straight chop and save operation either, because a) the nature of these poses are dependent on the hands of each model working together and b) I want to give you all the best product possible. Tonight will be ascertaining if chopping the poses into partial parts like I want will be feasible. If it doesn't work, then I'll try the partial poses on my next catalog set.

So, my New Year's eve pretty much sucked as my whole family came down with Type A flu, with me coming down with it first (and not knowing it WAS the flu at first). I spent the night alone watching Bridget Jones's Baby curled up with hot tea, my blanket, and a box of tissues.

Sheriff>>Was able to find a sheriff hat, and several police hats, but was particularly interested in finding a sheriff uniform for a Genesis 2 (male and female) charicter.
There is a law enforcement package, entitled Real Life Heroes, or Real World Heroes, DAZ product SKUs 4495, 9072 and 9085. They are orlginally for Michael/Victoria 4 and Hiro/Aiko 4. They can be fitted to Genesis 2 and Genesis 3 figures, with good results. There is a sheriff matte, but no sheriff's campaign hat, just the police officer's visor cap, with sheriff's matte.
Good luck!
Debbie
As the opening post said, those are not of the best quality. A new'er package for G2 & G3 is needed :)
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 7Here's your first look at BOO as a starting point and a couple additional Ghost lights. Will discuss those on the BOO thread here in Art Studio.
I will say I am not using Selena Hair much as that part in the middle wasn't fun to tweak. The part kept showing too much skin upon default load. Galene Hair (shown) is my preference. Same vendor. Outfit is Hot Topic and character (with greatly reduced lips, like 70%) is Brook however she is a bit chalky IMO. I reduced bumps and increased reflectivity and glossiness. Love the moisture in the skin now.
Jepe's BeddingZ for Victoria 7 tip: darken the bed covers if you have brighter lights (go to Surfaces and use Diffuse) You keep more detail!

3D Art FREEBIE CHALLENGE-January 2017- THE DAY AFTER HANGOVER -Main ThreadAlone with the flu...
So, my New Year's eve pretty much sucked as my whole family came down with Type A flu, with me coming down with it first (and not knowing it WAS the flu at first). I spent the night alone watching Bridget Jones's Baby curled up with hot tea, my blanket, and a box of tissues.

# Image used for the painting was created by meSurface Properties and Render Speed Question in 3delightWhat surface settings on objects, figures, environment, etc... can be changed to speed up 3delight renders? For example, I have found that raising glossiness to 100% dramatically decreases render time on that object. What other surfaces or settings, for that matter, can affect render speed?
I have also also noticed that figures in certain environments take longer to render than the same figure in other environments. What causes this? It's important to note that these environments are not iray and do not have large polly counts. By themselves, the environments render very quickly. When the figure(say Victoria 7) is by itself, that figure renders quickly. Put together, I have noticed that some environments slow the figure part of the render down quite significantly where other environments do not have such an affect. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any response:)
Genevieve 7@ALLIEKATBLUE: I run N.G.S. Anagenessis 2 - Revolution scripts on Victoria 4 first (for V4, I use Genesis versions of them)
and save resulting skin as a Material preset in Daz Studio.
Then I make a new scene, load Genesis 3 female and apply different shapes to her.
After that, I run two scripts from Cayman studios converter (Prepare G3F and Fix V4 UVs).
Finally, I apply previously saved V4 preset to the selection made by running the scripts.
That's it.
For step one, do you have to convert the V4 skin using the V4 skins converter or do you run N.G.S. Anagenessis 2 - Revolution scripts on a straight V4 figure because I have been using V4 skins converted using the batch converter. When you save as a material preset does that file automatically save as .duf?
