  • Getting hair to fit LY Cayenne

The hair is for Victoria 4, you are using it on Genesis 3 Female. Are you using AutoFit to convert it (with an add-on for Victoria 4 compatibility, or by going from Victoria 4 to Genesis to Genesis 2 Female to Genesis 3 Female)? That will remove any special bones for posing the tail. A better approach is often not to fit the hair but to use its transforums to line it up with the head (or slightly clipping into the head), then parent it to the head - that way you still have the bones, if any, in the tail and can pose it to fit. If you set the hair so it fits or is slightly inside the head then select the hair use Edit>Figure>Geometry>Apply Smooting Modifier, then under mesh Smoothing in the editor tab of the parameters pane set the Collision target to Genesis 3 Female - that should pop any bits thata re digging in back out.

  • V4.2 Daz, saving morphs and Full Figure Morphs?

Victoria 4 is an older figure, using the legacy rigging system. You can do many of the things you want, but it isn't as automated. Your best bet is probably to use the ExP Exporter to save as a new morph expansion set.

  • What are your favorite pose packs?

There are just immense amounts of poses available on Daz with a lot of overlap between packs.  (Everybody probably owns 10 of the same "bored model" looks - hands over head, hands on hips..etc.)  The PAs that develop the poses and expressions don't always have the best renders to sell the pack.  So, I thought actual users could chime in.

I'm interested in which products people find most useful and well done.  And, I think others might be interested in some help deciding on what packs to buy.  Be specific rather than just saying, "Anything by such and such artist."  From what I've seen all PAs that do pose packs have both marvelous and meh offerings.  I don't want to be down on any PA's products.  So, I'd rather hear about which pose and expression packs you'd recommend by your own experience and why.  Considurations are 1.) How useful are the poses? 2.) How well done are they? 3.) How unique is the pack in its content?

For example here are a few that I really like:

DM's Sensual Aiko 6 - The poses are well done and seem balanced.  I can use them on all my G2 and G3 females (with Pose Convertor).  And, there is a nice variety of poses that don't overlap too much with the standard Fashion Model poses.  The poses do a good job of giving the character both a sexy and cute attitude rather than the bored standard.  I have both sets 1 and 2.  Both are good.  But, I find the first set to be most useful.

Pristine for G3F - I bought the set for the one really well done floor pose with the arms crossed over each other.  I found the rest of the set to be very well done with the fair amount of crossover with other pose sets being forgivable because the poses themselves look very natural.  It is a fairly small collection but with all usable poses.

I13 Manga Style for Keiko 6 - a really great collection that effectively echoes Manga and works well with both Keiko and other G2F.  The action stances really shine.  There are other similar sets.  But, this one is a real bargain for the number of usable and unique poses.

China Doll for Mei Lin 6 and G2F - This is a really nice set of demure, subserviant type poses.  And, it does not appear to have much overlap at all with other pose packs.  The pack seems really true to its title in that all the poses would work well for your emperor's servant, concubine, Lady in Waiting...etc.  In particular, the side reclining pose and the kowtow pose are really nice.  All the bends look natural, even in the extreme positions.  The folded fan prop is included and looks great in Iray.

These are just a few of my go to sets.  I have other sets that are also very good.  But, I'd like to hear about everyone else's faves as well.

What I'd really like to see in a pose / expression set - Expressions based on new morphs that really capture the subtlety of mouth movements.  I realize that G3F is supposed to be a pain to work with because of the facial bones.  But, I'd love to see more expressions that are a finished look, rather than settings based on existing dials.  I say this because the majority of packaged expressions that I've looked at still seem caricature like to me...  I can't help but think that some of these uber talented PAs are capable of creating something better.  Cartoony expressions are no problem.  I can give Victoria a big, goofy smile with a couple of dials.  But, creating an expression that has a warm, fleeting smile, is definitely a struggle.  I have yet to see a product sample render that that totally sells me.  That said, I am going to pick up the new Authenticity Expressions for Genevieve 7.  They are some of the most natural looking that I've seen so far.

Anyway, that's some of my picks.  I'd really love to hear what pose packs others have found to be really worthwhile and for what reasons.  There's no need to bash the products you don't like.  Just highlight the ones you think are really well done and or a good value.  Thanks!

  • Can Victoria 4 & 7 files for hair, wings, ect. work on Victoria 3 base or any Genesis base modles

    1. some items could be parented to Victoria 3 and Michael 3 but theya re very old figures and there are very limited ocnversion options (there are iconic shapes for Genesis that will allow the conversion of their clothing to Genesis, I'm not sure what options there are for the reverse.

    2. the morphs allow you to chnage the shape of the figures

    3. no

    4. Yes - if correctly installed they will appear in the Content Library pane under Poser Formats

    5. Generally human and clothing textures can't be used on most other models. Other textures vary.

    6. Save as a supported format - .png, for example

    7. I'm not sure what you mean

    8.

    9. No, Bryce items are specific to bryce - even with Bryce there are limits on what can be exported.

question 4 .. for poser files i got from daz web site that shuld work ? did i get that correct ? :) n they shuld be in the correct folders ?

but for a file i get on renderosity web site this will need to go into the MY LIBRAY folder ? did i get that correct ? :) n then i put them in a new folder i create to keep them orginized ? as i explained in my last response :).

    for question # 7

i got the castle creator  this is the link http://www.daz3d.com/castle-creator

then I aslo got this  http://www.daz3d.com/jungle-vines

can i take the vines and use them on the castle ? and i also picked up a few things from renderosity that gave me trees n grass also wanted to give the stones on the castel a old  broken down look like a lot of time had passed.

    i hope that i did a better job explaining question # 7

  • Millenium Dog Bundle

Yeah, you have to load the dog first and then (while selected) load the morphs (similar to how Generation 3-4 characters are loaded first before applying the morphs like Victoria 4.2 then load the Morphs++). They should be in the same Character folder or check the "Pose" section.

  • When New Characters Get Advertised...

I know that hair shows them off to their best and all, but I, for one, would really appreciate it if we typically had at least one promotional image where the character is bald. It's very rare for a new figure to come with hair. What you're paying for is the facial/body shape (along with any included skin) and it can be difficult to judge whether or not the character is sufficiently different to those you already have, unless you see them bald.

There are times I honestly can't tell if a new character looks different enough to Victoria/Michael/whoever to be worth purchasing. Especially the female characters, who are often shown with very lengthy hair which sometimes obscure a good portion of the face.

Rosie 6 for Genesis 2 Female

Okay, so I recently got Belle 6 for making my new Genesis 2 Female version of my Rosie action hero, which was working pretty well - yet something was still amiss. When I got Belle 6, one of those suggestions that pop up as I'm adding to the cart, which I usually ignore, was Elize for Belle 6, by Sabby and Seven, and it really looked a LOT like what I want except for some of the shaping, but the textures... yeah... I like them. I didn't think I'd use Elize's body shape, but when I dialled it up a bit I changed my mind. So I did end up using more of Elize's morphs that I had originally expected. Hmmm... I don't even recall the new recipe of shape dials.

Still using Arki's EYEdeas 3+. I just can't seem to get Genesis' eyes looking anywhere close to what these can do - but that's likely from me just being so used to using these now - shader-wise. I'm still messing with these particular shaders, however.

I did a little reshaping of the hair, but a whole new hair product for her is in the works - made just for Genesis 2 Female.

Mix n' Match approach to her Mystic Sorceress Fighter attire using Red Talon boots and arms, V4's Kazai skirt and belts, Arena Spectacle bra armor, lightly covered with the top from Grecian Goddess - all of which will still be getting massive shader tweaks.

Her face shape is getting very close, but still not quite there.

Man, these new character sets are really cool. I know Genesis 3 is even newer, but these Genesis 2 figure kits are really neat! I haven't been playing with them much yet. Just monkeying around here and there.

Just check out what they say about Belle 6

Look out boys, there’s a new girl in town who's looking to steal your hearts away. Meet Belle, an adorable, outgoing teenage girl who loves nothing more than texting her friends about every single thing she can think of. When she's not LOLing and taking selfies, she can often be seen spending time with her friends in the park.
With a small frame and beautifully striking features, Belle lives up to her name. Leverage the capabilities of Genesis to combine your favorite Genesis 2 Female characters' features and give her the perfect look for any of your scenes. Whether you want to see her become the beacon of hope for an oppressed civilization, or a screaming teenage drama queen, Belle has the qualities to enhance your renders.
Belle 6 measurements courtesy of Measure Metrics for DAZ Studio:

    • Height: 5'4" (162.56 cm)
    • Chest Circumference: 31.4" (79.8 cm)
    • Waist Circumference: 22.1" (56.1 cm)
    • Low Hip Circumference: 33.6" (85.3 cm)

I used the Height full body morph to bring her down even lower to 5' 2" - she's little next to Dartanbeck! :)

  • AIUTO...CHI CONOSCE L’ITALIANO? PARTE UNDICI

  • Remove ALL old versions...

Hello again... Hope all is good and gravy for you...

I want to uninstall and wipe TOTALLY clean from my harddrive any and all traces of both Carrara and Daz Studio. I want to install the newer versions, and take it from there. I want to remove ALL my Content archives, and start from scratch, I can always direct either Carrara or Daz Studio to my Poser Content library and re-install the few Daz Studio or Carrara presets I own without too much drama hopefully.

Daz Studio has 2 sets of "other programs", like animate, cr2 exporter, fbx exporter, joint editor, morph loader, skeleton set-up, and victoria 4.2 base, bodysuit, morphs ++ and daz studio morphs++. Do I need to uninstall all of these as well?

And what is the best way to delete the Daz Studio Content Library?

And how best to delete the Carrara content library?

Thanks for any help or advice, greatly appreciated...

If you're targetting video then it's OK from licensing standpoint.

Using Victoria 4 as asked from the asset creator what I'm loosing in term of character features?

V4 is skinned using old Poser method, when you export her into .fbx it will be converted into general weight mapped skinning by DAZ Studio and believe me - you'll not be pleased by results, especially in shoulder and knee areas. In regards of clothing Vicky uses tons of magnets to drive fitted clothing - they also will be lost in conversion resulting in more distortion and poke through. For movies it might be acceptable to just convert clothing to dynamic.

Genesis3 is also not problem-free. As I've said it uses dual quaternion skinning plus corrective morphs and game engines' implementation of DQ may be very different from DAZ Studio. UE4 droppped DQ support completely for that reason. Also Genesis3 has stone age old and erroneous setup of bones for limbs that sometimes drives simpler IK solvers of game engines crazy but again it might be not relevant for movie. I've finally ended up making my own figure from Genesis3 with different skeleton, converted to linear general weight maps and using constrained corrective bones instead of morphs - now she/he works fine in all software I use :) (well, not exactly - there is bug in UE4 bone driven components that sometimes cause weird behavior of corrective bones, but I gonna fix it and submit poll request to Epic :) )

I didn't want to create a game, but just a video using this assets. So I suppose there isn't license problems, I didn't want to redistribute any asset. My GPU being a HD7950Boost (about a GTX 660Ti) I'll try before investing in Decimator if I can use as is a model. Just all the Genesis and Victoria topic is still not clear, primarily I want to stay with a clean workflow with as few as possible steps. Using Victoria 4 as asked from the asset creator what I'm loosing in term of character features?

    War Times

    Challenge Requirements:

    • Minimum Ten Figures: four armored soldiers, six flying robot 'grunts'
    • Modeled Item: The flying robots were constructed using primitives and pieces made in the Spline Modeler (plus some elements from DZFire's Nurnies Greebles Parts and Pieces).
    • Use of Replicator: two surface replicators are used to construct the battle-damaged city, with randomly-placed walls and piles of rubble. One replicator is in front of the camera, the other is behind it; the rubble scape that it creates is visible reflected in the female character's glasses.
    • Show Climactic Part of Battle: this is the final 'push', the soldiers advancing with air support through the ruins of a city devastated by fighting.

It is Lady Rune (skin), but rendered with the old DS 4.8 optimized Iray shader in DS 4.9. That makes the skin a bit paler. The facial shape is 50% Rune Faceshape 1 and 50% Faceshape Victoria 7.

Thanks. In fact I need that kind of clothing since will be used for a '800 ballet intro. Being made for Victoria 4 I suppose I can't use Genesis character as V4 is pre Genesis from this map http://indigojanson.com/6544/victoria-michael-genesis-comparison/daz_figures_feb14/ And so V4 clothing will not be usable in Genesis? Also what about lip and eyes animation, V4 come with all is needed to animate them?

Well unless the poster of the information in the other thread was mistaken you can put V4 textures & clothing on Genesis without buying extra add-ons to make it work. I read that in these forums not even a month ago.

As far as the DAZ animate animations and animations made for V4/M4 in general they will work on all DAZ characters V4/M4 to Genesis to Genesis 2 Male and Genesis 2 Female as far as I've read and as far as my own, un-exhaustive tests showed me.

Anybody that knows better is welcome to correct me.

Still if you are going to buy V4 it's best to buy the V4 Pro Bundle pricewise next time it goes on sale.
