Can anyone help me find a suitable hairstyle for Genesis 8?Help identifying character used in Promo by XartShe looks like Victoria 9 or a mix with Victoria 9 to me. You could probably get something similar by giving V9 thick, dark eyebrows and then maybe adjusting the lips and nose. The [Disco Chives] Misplaced Parrot Complaint Thread
Popin' in here to drop off a ramble that I'd put into the wrong thread. That thread had mentioned Australia but I went way off topic and started reminiscing.
But figured the good folks in this thread would know how to properly ignore it, so here it is:Back in '95, I was in Australia for 5 weeks, mostly New South Wales and Queensland but some Northern Territories too, and I never heard anyone saying "no worries mate", they would however say "no woories maiyt".
I was afraid to go to Victoria because of the language difficulties.
All accent kidding aside, my host explained that the accent has mellowed in the last 50 years. To demonstrate, he introduced me to an old timer (veteran of WW-II) whose manner of speech was really difficult to understand. Sort of like running into a 90 year old West Virginia hill person chawin' tobaccy while 'splainin' history with 50% words and colloquialisms I'd never heard before.

Non-complaint: OK, talking about Austrialia again got my rememberin' meat (i.e. brain) humming. While in Austrialia, I stayed with a person who had come to Washington DC, back in the late '80s. We (Max & I) took him up to the Buffalo area on a few hundred mile drive through the Pennsylvania & NY forests, to see Niagara Falls and to my parent's house to see how typical country people live. After my Max had died, I returned the visit with a trip to Cairns, Queensland. At the time, I was on my year long motorcycle trip around the US, and was sporting a nice short Mohawk haircut, I was in the peak of my conditioning, big muscular biker in my 40s. My host took me to his local pub a couple of times but made sure that I understood that he would be introducing me as his "Red Indian friend from the US".

Um, OK, sure, no woories maiyt.

I'd feel better - not that anyone owes me that - about the purported versatility of G9 if promotional images for products showed how items can be used on both male and female shapes. It's supposed to be a big selling point, but it feels like it's featured to show how something can be used with female shapes more often than not. I wouldn't go so far to say it makes me feel unwelcome, more not cared about.
It's ok. I've not yet been wooed enough to even download the free stuff. If G9 doesn't care about me, I also don't care about G9. I know there must be at least point or two in its favor, but I don't need or want the complication. And this thread reminded me that I want to pick up https://www.daz3d.com/tara-sachra-hd-for-victoria-7 in the near future.
Looking for Middle Eastern characters, esp. masculineHey folks, I am working on a project with a large number of scenes set in the Ancient Near East, a.k.a. the Middle East, a.k.a. Southwestern Asia, from the Bronze Age up to the fourth century BCE (ending a little before Alexander the Great). I’m wondering what existing characters you might suggest to credibly represent persons in this range of haplotypes: Assyroid and Arabid especially, with Armenid, Iranid, and Anatolid not too far afield. Put in modern terms, I need characters designed (or easily adaptable) to look Arabian, Iranian, Iraqi, Turkish — not African, although South Asian (Indian/Pakistani) characters can work with some tweaks.
- Masculine characters I'm already using: Djinnoah, Nasiri, Ravi, Davit, Novak (G8); Arran, Enkil, Abel (G3); Sulaiman (G3); Ibrahim (G1)
- Masculine characters in my wishlist: Nahuel (G9)
- Feminine characters already using: Maryam (G9); Aakash, Ahmunet, Anat, Ara, Djinneah (just added), Elaheh, KemeMau, Khemsit (plus alt shapes), Nailah, Nenetesh, Rima, Twosret (plus alt shapes), Zahra (G8); Akasha, Amisi, Sushmita, Taia (G3)
- Feminine characters in wishlist: Yaelle, plus a few marketed as Arabian at a different marketplace
Can you suggest other characters — especially masculine — that work well to represent the desired haplotypes?
Content creators, you can consider this a request for more Arabian-appearing characters if you want to.
Character Converters, Legacy UVs …cheard said:
Hey folks, help a guy out here. If I already own a variety of character converters, assuming for purposes of this question that the converters work to my satisfaction, is there additional value for me in legacy UVs? Am I correct in thinking the value would be something like applying a legacy skin to a new generation (say G8/G9) without affecting the shape, and then I could customize the shape using various morph dials applicable to the more recent generations? If that’s incorrect, what (if anything) would the legacy UVs do for me that the various converter products don’t?
Gratefully,
Chris
As far as I know, anything that's being sold as a Character Convertor at any of the major commercial stores ONLY converts the MORPHS for characters to the new figure base, not to be confused with Clothing Convertors that let you convert the clothes from an earlier generation with generally better results than Auo-Fit. Legacy UVs allow you to use older skin textures on newer figures (or in some cases use newer textures on older figures like Genesis 8 to Genesis), so unless you have the time, inclination, and skill to re-map the old textures, you need both to completely re-create a character... unless the new figure you're transfering your morphs to happens to come with the proper UVs... as Genesis can also use the V4 Generation UV skins, G2 can use the skins for characters that used the Victoria 5 and Michael 5 UVs (but not Genesis), and G8 can also use the skins for the base Genesis 3 UV. Where it gets to be a pain is that DAZ used to try and use a new UV for every new Base figure starting with Genesis, so to cover the entire Genesis/V5 generation you also need UV convertors for Aiko 5, Gia 5, Stephanie 5, The Girl 5, Michael 5, etc., but by the time Genesis 3 came out very few PAs would even bother making anything for anything except the base UV, so a lot of thsoe Legacy UVs are unecessay unless you REALLY want to convert the skins for just one or two figures.
As to whether they're worth the cost, that depends upon how much old product you intend to convert. I find that I'm still using a lot of skins from the V4 era simply because there are so many of them and many work just fine when modified for Iray.

Don't miss the new banner, Extra 30% off three items (only gift cards excluded)
I saw it, but there's nothing I want enough with current promotion and without additional stacking.
I guess I'm subconsciously preparing for March Madness now. No matter how often people say it's March Mehness (just like PA sale back in September), there are always some really good offers worth waiting for.
I used it to get the Tara 9 HD Succubus Pro Bundle for $30.37 together with the Vick for Victoria 9 HD Bundle for $18.49 and the Demos Warrior Bundle for $4.53 when I used 8 tokens.
I have no tokens (except for one that I'll likely let expire), so my price for Tara 9 Pro was nowhere near that good.
With tokens reintroduced, I see myself shopping less if the discounts take into account people having them. I don't mind the "get points for purchases", but when the points expire so quickly, it's a gamble of "pay a lot to maybe find something you want to discount in 4 days", and I'm not a gambler. Most stores that I'm aware of don't have such a short expiration day on their rewards/points program. Even my grocery store gives 2 months to use the points up. But, I guess, I only shop for groceries once a week, and most of us are in Daz store daily...

Victoria 4 Morphs++ questionHi, I am a new user to DAZ4 although I used DAZ2 a few years ago. Recently I managed to load my Victoria 4 assets to the latest DAZ4.
Everything appears ok except some Victoria morphs. If you inject Morphs++ I used to be able to change Breast size. If I am in "scene" then there used to be a drop-down under "chest". Now there is nothing.
I was hoping that someone might know what step is missing.

But female skins' nipples do not line up with the male shape's pecs and look bad on them, as is.I know, but I did check before writting my answer and if you look at the files list, like most Daz Originals skins for Genesis 9 (exception are likely the teen / young adult skins who usually have no nipples textures), they are textures for masculine nipples in both the Succubus Add-On and the red skin add-on (but none in the icy skin addon which is more in line with most PAs works). So the skins will works (no idea about the rest of the content of the Succubus Add-on and the absence of an masculine AE textures as part of the Succubus addon mean fully naked render may be out of questions with that product).
You can check if you have an adult Genesis 9 Core figure: they are setting for the opposite gender included.
Here is an example with Michael 9 using his own skin and then Victoria 9's with the masculine nipples preset applied:

This is what I was afraid the answer would be. A really great four armed character would be nice. Oh well. Back to the drawing board!
Most "four armed" renders are actually two full figures, with one figure mostly hidden or set to transparent. You'll rarely see the joints/shoulders for all four arms, and when you do, you can count on the image being heavily edited after the render.
As much as I too would like to see four-armed genesis figures, do consider that such figures would need custom clothing. Some random jacket or dress or bodysuit won't automatically get extra arms or armholes to fit the additional limbs. So the only viable solution at the moment is strategic posing and clever photoshop tricks. Until you nail those two, animations are probably out of question.I do vaguely recall there being (or having been) a four armed figure or geograft on Renderosity for Michael or Victoria 4, or maybe it was even Genesis 1 or 2. It's really vague, so I can't really recall it well, but I'm pretty sure it also had problems finding outfits for it.
Tara 9, breaking your heart, stealing your soul. The wings are attached at the same place as on Tara 2 by Kayleyss, maybe it's just a nod to Tara 2 or maybe Tara 9 was created by Kayleyss too.

Unlike most other base characters released recently, there are no alternative shapes, although the pose set mentions a halfling shape, so maybe the shapes will come later.
I don't know why it's called Halflings Hierarchical Poses when it's pose for a succubus but it's just the name of a product: Halflings Hierarchical Poses for Tara 9, Wings, and Beleth Hair
V4.2 - What is this?I'm just beavering away in Blender with Victoria 4.2, and I've noticed a mesh that runs across the top of her eyes, and part of her forehead.
What is it, and what is it for?
AOBB's Marianne G9(F) head morph. No materials nor textures. Commercial use allowed!@richardandtracy - Thank you so much for appreciating my work. I use these shapes to get a nice figure for my G9 characters:

https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-9-hd (for the HD part - great detais!)
https://www.daz3d.com/z-petite-goddess-shape-and-pose-mega-set-for-genesis-9
AND under G9's Actor/Full Body/People/Feminine I find a slider named "Genesis 8 Female Body"!!!
That last one (I see in the Parameters Settings that it is in RSSY character converter from G8 to G9) should definitely convince you to use G9!

I usually also tweak the thighs' shape, so they are thinner and more toned, then I make the shoulders broader and that is my recipe for a super G9 figure!
Edit: I focused on making the most out of the G9 figure in the text above and didn't properly say "Thank you" for your lovely words about my work, richard. You always write such wonderful and heartfelt things to me and I am in turn always touched by your words. I am so happy that my work brings you joy and satisfaction. I do my best not to disappoint the members of the DAZ community. I am glad that this is being noticed. Thank you again for taking the time to share with me your beautiful thoughts and feelings about my sculpts. God bless. AOBB
Generation 4 assets in DAZ Studio 4.22My pleasure! I've been collecting aniBlock and animated pose collections since the Generation 4 days - so I have a whole lot of them for V4 and M4.
With Bone Minion being a thing, I don't have to use them on V4/M4, but I love it when I get a chance to. They still work great! I also have the RSSY 3Delight to Iray convertor. Some things from that era need to be converted, some things look great without conversion.
When it comes to conversion, I try RSSY and/or the Iray Uber and use whichever looks best - I usually get different result from both.
My Genesis 8 Female main hero uses clothing items and props from all generations except the older 1 and 2 Millennium stuff. I would, but I don't have anything she needs right now. But I use my Daz + membership to collect things from across all eras of figure, simply because the stuff is too cool not to.
Example from Vicky 3:
Liquid Knight On Sky 16 is freaking Cool!!!
So is the Liquid Halo On Sky 16
...and let's not forget the Ton of amazing artwork created for Aiko 3!!!
And that's a whole generation before Michael 4 and Victoria 4
The assets are great for current figures, but as we can see from the above promo, the figures themselves can look Fantastic as well!
So I just use whatever strikes my mood at the time.
I just bought the new one for Genesis 8 Male yesterday, but that still won't retire my use of DzFire's Cyborg Model 4 (Model 4 being a play on the initials: M4), which I use quite a bit. I have an Iray optimized version of him in my custom folder so I can load him in a heatbeat, and he's already holding a sword from Nightshift3D's awesome weapons bundle from that era
The point being, this stuff works great in our modern world! Especially since I also love to collect Iray Shader collections! :)
In the following video, I've replaced the swords with some really cool new lightsabers I got from here... but the cyborg she's fighting (toward the end of the video) is the one we see above.
Her guns are from Complicated Eve for V4 (by Uzilite - same vendor as the "On Sky 16" stuff above) as are her pants and boots. I enhanced them with added gloss and then also added some of JGreenlees Cybertronic Iray Shaders by making Geometry Shells, so I could use the 2 different colors, and the actual pants are glass from the Daz Iray shaders that come with Studio. The goggles are from Brazen for V4.
The robotic spider is Arachnoid, by Elele, which comes with aniBlock to put it in motion - a nice set of them! :)
Anyone able to identify this model? To me, she looks like a variant Victoria 8. Maybe one of the figures built off of Vic 8 or a V8 with some dialed morphs.
