Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8
One order had 23 things and several bundles, the cost averaged out to 3.27 per item. There were large sets in addition to the bundles. The rest was characters, no hair. Another order had 15 things and averaged 2.89 and it was mostly Genesis and K4 (keep in mind this was years ago, they were the figures in use.) Funny to see all the Unimesh products, I had forgotten about those.
So this has been discussed elsewhere, but I'm curious. What was in your first order? Actually, your first three?
Leaving out the common ones like Decimator, Hexagon, Bryce, etc that were free at the time, here's mine:
The first order was: (Please give date, this is fun! Sept 10, 2012)
Aiko 3 Base Anime Girl
EmotiGuy
Millennium Dog
Millennium Horse
Millennium CatSecond order:
The Medieval series- the Tavern, Market, Shop, Docks
LeVillage
Predatron trees galore. I got all the Pred Packs.
And one of my favorite sets of all time Opus Magnum.
Willow Spring
Ancient PropheciesThird order:
Victoria 5 Pro Bundle
Full and Feathered Hair for Genesis
Pharoahs of the Sun for Genesis Female
Classic Rolled Hair for Genesis
Astral for GIS
Pajamas for Genesis
and more hair/outfits- all Genesis. So what are the highlights of your first three orders?
Questions about v7 and m7To be honest ... I'm quite new to this software and I'm not sure if I understand it too much but I got a Question about victoria 7 and michael 7. I read on some posts that the pro bundle which is like 140$ now has genitals... my question is the victoria7 and michael 7 simple pack which is like 40$ include this feature? And if I buy now only the victoria 7 and michael 7 ... later if I want to go to pro... i can pay the difference or I will pay the whole package?
Thank you!
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8What favorite vendors do y'all have for unique characters?
Chevybabe25 does really distinct characters; I particulary like Aibell, Draupadi and Vincenzina,
+1. That's who came to mind for me too (one of them.) Raiya was another, has a great variety.
If I were looking at my character images (when you click on characters under a generation, but the ones in the list won't show) the unusual ones I have are:Genesis 3 Females: Aibell Ceridwen Brooklyn HD (very fine eyebrows, different. PERFECT for a child) Monika (somewhat older, not old) Opal Vincenzina
I always remember Morris for a few of the other generations. Sulaiman for Michael 6 M4 Ethanique: Nathen I never bought the Lazarus one due to the vein, although the Poser version looks like it isn't there. Has anyone rendered him?
Please Help with Victoria 7 starter kitI would like to know if someomne could tell me if the starter kit of victoria 7 has talk and Expressions morphs. Especially the Nipples are needed.
The infop says that vioctoria has 36 headmorphs but i am not sure what all is supported.
Skin Builder 3 Merchant Resource for Genesis 3 Female (Commercial)It would be nice if you can add, or make avilible in the future, UV plugins, like Bethany 7, Aiko 7, TJ7 ect... Just an idea.
You can convert them to default UVs; I've never had an issue on those I done, although there might be a couple that would have issues.
How exactly are you doing that?
Usually, it's just a matter of applying a different material preset with a different UV map, like using the Growing Up skins on Victoria 7, for example.
I'm so confused.. lol... what? xD

Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8Yes, that drives me crazy too! I have one of that PA's characters and refuse to buy any more. Not because the product is bad. It's because I cannot tell the difference between the models in the promos and refuse to buy the same model over and over again. If they are different, that PA needs to change the promo pics. If you go to his/her store and look at them side by side, they look like clones.Although that is excessive by that one particular vendor, there are several other vendors who keep using the same materials and slightly tweak them, or slightly tweak the morphs. You know, when you can look at a figure and know immediately who the vendor is because it's a new release, and you think, "Don't I already HAVE that one?" With morph sliders, if I can create a similar look with one I already have, I only buy the character if I get it for $3.50 or so, because I showcase them.
Let's chat a minute. Genesis 4 may be due out this summer. I'm chocked full of Genesis 3 and Genesis 2, so I'm going to try to hold firm on not buying into Genesis 4. I can't justify buying more just to showcase it, I've got more to show you than I have time to render. I thought it would be fun to see what generation you own the most of. If you want to figure percents (in case it's a close call, and if you're curious) here's how to do that:
CHECK HIDE WHAT I OWN. Go to the main store page and under "figure" select everything that's applicable (Example, from Victoria 4 down, grab Michael 4, Aiko 4, etc. Be sure you scroll down the dropdown menu.) That shows a number- of what you do NOT own. (B)
Subtract what you don't own from the total. A-B=C, what you own. I"ve provided the (A) totals for each generation, below.Want a percent? C (what you own) divided by A (yes, divide the smaller number by the larger) =D, the percent of that generation that you own.
Here's the TOTAL number for each generation- make sure this is showing for you- (and double check me.)
Generation 4: 5106 Genesis 1773 Genesis 2 3328 Genesis 3 3492Wow, Genesis got the shaft. Some neat materials there- and the characters were not clone after clone.
So using my example: let's do Generation 4. Making something up.
Just use this:
Total (A) is 5106 (Total products) (B) is what is left (check Hide What I Own) so pretend it's 4976
So 5106-4976= (C) 130 products owned of Generation 4.
So then (C) 130 divided by (A) 5106 is 0.02 which means they would own 2% of all those products.Give it a try. Then you'll know which generation you need to concentrate on GenXing. Use what you own!
I can eyeball mine and see the glaring results. While I won't give total percents, I'll be back with the differences in percents from one generation to the next. I'm interested in what generation you've favored.
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8Ah that worked. And I do apparently own it but when I searched for it in my library I was searching for victoria or v4 uv because that's what it is lol. Thanks for the help! that would be why they are working lol.
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8Ice Dragon, it is definitely in the store. Unless you've already purchased it, in which case it won't show when you go to his store.
I don't know what that link isn't working. Maybe this: here
I"m unsure what batch conversion script you're using, but perhaps they are referring to this? https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-for-genesis-2-female
I have a quick question. I am batch converting v4 skins to Gen2f with the batch conversions script. It keeps saying I need the v4 uv's to Genesis 2F to use but I can't find it in my library and I can't find it in the store. And, they are working just fine on Genesis2F, no issues at all with seams, eyes, make up or anything else with the 5 I've done so far.
That link isn't working. I tried doing a search and couldn't find it. It doesn't seem to be in his store here either.

Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8Ice Dragon...
In your surfaces tab for the G2F character, go to UV, and see if it says Base of Victoria 4.
If it says base it *shouldn't* be working.
I just bought the M4 to G2M UV because I didn't have that, yet.

I will have to check when I get home. But I was not having any issues lol. I have the Michael 4 for Genesis 2 Male but I can't find the V4 to Genesis 2. Its not in the Daz store that I can see. I guess I will have to check the other place.

Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8I was sitting here trying to figure out how I was going to get a V4 skin onto a G3F character. I just bought Cayman Studio's Legacy UVs for Genesis 3, Vol 1, G2F a few days ago... but that wasn't going to bridge this gap...
So instead of trying to bring V4 to G3F or G3F to Victoria 4, I decided I'd have them meet in the middle. :)RRRR - It could be true - 5th anniversary contestOh gosh, I'm addicted! I couldn't resist the urge to do another pull!
Pull #2
Not sure I've actually used any of these in a render yet, so double yay!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Doh!
Pumpkin-into-carriage transfiguration is one of the hardest tests during the Fairy Godmother school final exams. Practice makes... oops, not so perfect.

...at least the new princess would be safe and secure, but going to need something bigger than few mice turned into horses to pull it.
Nice work.
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8Here is an example of how the UltraGenesis presets differ if you don't have the required character morphs. I have also discovered that the product requires Genesis 3 Female Head Morphs, which are not listed on the product page.
This is Edith, which dials in some of Victoria 7 and some of Eva 7 as well as various morphs that I believe are from Genesis 3 Female Head Morphs.
This is Edith, without Victoria 7 or Eva 7. You can see that she looks quite a bit different, but not bad.
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 8Ahh this one : ULTRAGENESIS : Faces of G ?
YES!!!
We have a winner!@Ferretmania I will PM you the GC code immediately. Please let me know if you have any problems with it.
The product is UltraGenesis Faces of G.I used the Gumdrop Granny preset. A double click on that preset automatically dials a bunch of morphs. That is how shaping presets usually work. That is why you see so many products requiring the Daz Genesis 3 Female Head Mophs and Body Morphs. This product dials Eva 7, Karen 7, and/or Victoria 7 morphs as well. But, as I said, I started with the basic G3F, not one of those characters. All the morph dialing was done automatically when I clicked the preset.
I got this product back in December. I think it was free at the time (or free with some purchase maybe??) I bet a lot of you have it, too.
Congratulations @Ferretmania! :)
One of the reasons I haven't bought this product and others--or guessed it in this contest--is the confusion (at least for me) between "compatible figures" and "required products." It says it's compatible with G3F, but V7, Eva 7 and Karen 7 are required. Just like I wouldn't buy an add-on unless I had the main product it extends because it would be useless, I don't own Eva 7 or Karen 7, so in my thinking it won't function without them.
If you look at the "Whats included and features" section, it only says it includes 12 face shapes for Eva and 12 face shapes for Karen. It says nothing about facial shapes for the G3F base, yet another reason I wouldn't think to buy it without Eva 7 and Karen 7.
I wish Daz would come up with a better way to describe exactly what you need to have in order to use it.
A lot of character and morph products work really well on the base even if they are listed for a specific character. They won't look exactly like the promo if you don't use the required product but you can get some really nice results that way. The best way to find out if something actually needs the required products or not is to ask in the Commons or even here in Novica's thread. Lots of people who have the product are more than happy to share shots of what a particular morph product will look like on the base figure without the required product so you can see what it would look like before you buy. Even some vendors are more than happy to show off what their morphs look like on the base figure. All you have to do is ask. There are plenty of people to help you out.
Or, they can just be clear in the product description. Something like "Although Eva 7, V7 and Karen 7 are required, this product will work great with G3F." That would nail it.
You are right that forums and vendors are super helpful. I do search the forums to learn about products before I buy them. Threads describing issues like "the product says it contains Iray materials but they aren't there" or "this product has a visible seam through the center of the figure" etc. have saved me from buying faulty products.
This is one of those RDNA products brought over from the other store. It was a pretty bare bones transfer for these products. They don't have readme files. They don't have metadata for Smart Content. The product page is minimal. The product promo images are not very good...
But some of the content has been pretty useful.
GenX2 Update / Genesis 3 Add-On [Commercial]I decided to tiptoe into this a bit and converted one V4 character to G3F. It also created a V4 clone, which doesn't look much like V4. The Victoria 4 shape that's in G2F is much better. But that was purchased content and there doesn't appear to be a V4 Clone for sale.
I transferred the one from G2F to G3F and she's much better than the clone that was created. The other interesting thing I discovered, was that apparently the character I saved has V4 aready "dialed in". When I turned off the Vicky 4 clone in G3F, the character looks much closer to the original. I saved her as a Single Morph. Is that how it's supposed to work?

Here is a super helpful statement for Hall of the Ancients. It says it is for Iray only, but since the vendor was helpful enough to clarify "Daz Studio Materials are in Iray format, but perform very well as is in 3DLight" I will be buying it because I like to render with 3Delight. I might not even have put it in my wishlist otherwise.
At the time of this post there are no forum threads (that I could find) for Hall of the Ancients to confirm that it indeed works very well in 3Delight. I have no idea how an Iray material can also be used in 3Delight whereas most other Iray products can't, so I can only go with what is stated in the product description.

I think the required products listed really are required in this case, because although I started with G3F base, the presets in this product dialed in some of Victoria 7, Karen 7, and/or Eva 7 morphs, depending on the preset chosen. So, those products are required and the result would not have looked the same without Victoria, Karen, and Eva. I agree, it is very confusing. Once you have the product and use it, you can see what it does and why those morphs are required. Before you buy it, the product page is very confusing. I got it free, so I didn't pay that much attention to the details. I do own Victoria 7, Eva 7, and Karen 7, so I didn't worry about those requirements, either. If you don't have those three models and the product isn't free when you consider buying it, I would not recommend getting it, unless you just want some different face shapes and don't care if they don't really match the promo images.
