I suspect that as an official DAZ release it has no issues (was tested by DAZ as recently as 2 days ago).
I'll keep you updated.
LasloMy purchase will be pending this resolution. I will say that the tutorials look great and it seems you are close to realizing such a long dreamed of "make myself in Poser" product. I hope you great success with this product.
OK, we definitely tested HeadShop 9 with the public release version of DAZ Studio 4.8.
It works fine:-)Attention: Please make sure that DAZ Studio installs on the C: drive. We had a customer who had issues when installing on an other, auxiliary drive.

Of course I would prefer if it would work... (Hi Laszlo... :) )(By the way - of course I am working with the actual DAZ 4.8 version; Windows 7 64bit on a state-of-the-art-system :))
There are some caveats:
1. Both DAZ Studio and HeadShop need to be installed on the C: drive (HeadShop creates temp files on C).
2. I had one case where the net framework was not updated (DAZ 4.8 requires update). My suggestion is:

I would like to know this, too.Thanks.
No Need to Buy HairShop Separately, It is Included in HeadShop 9! (Commercial)I was waiting for this product since the announcement in February and I purchased it today. I admit I was sceptical because the "solutions" so far were not very convincing... To be honest - they did not work...
My first impressions now are unfortunately a bit "mixed" :) I started with the stand-alone icon/program on the desktop. My first irritation - is there no way to load a profil photo to setup the profil modification? This is the common standard in poser and in all products which tried to deal with the "photo-to-3D"-task in the past - I have no idea how I could manage to setup the profil line without the photo reference... Perhaps I overlooked something?
Anyway - I did a first experiment with only the frontal view and saved/exported the result as *.obj
Then I started the plugin in DAZ as it is described in the manual - when I selected "load existing *.obj" and selected the *.obj I produced before I got the error message: "The selected *.obj-File was not created by HeadShop. Using this file may still work, but it is highly recommended to use .obj files created in HeadShop." Aha.
Then I have to select a texture map - I select the one which was created before. Error message "One or more of the files had no effect." / "An unexpected error orrured while creating this morph." Aha. Finito. End of show.
Another try. I select "Create New HeadShop OBJ." I select a *jpg source, a new directory. Error message "DAZ model not found." OK. The photo appears. I select "Female" - Button "Next" - error message "Exception error in application..." "File name may not be zero". Ok. The HeadShop program window appears, on the left side a white area with diagonal red cross. Fine. If I try to load the *.hds file I produced in the beginning another "exception error".
That's not bad for a product which costs 70 $... :) Fortunately I can give it back within 30 days :)
Of course I would prefer if it would work... (Hi Laszlo... :) )

Studio 4.8 is not officially released and so still has a different file structure, which will not work with HeadShop.Actually, Studio 4.8 is no longer in Beta. It was officially released about a week ago.and is the only version of Studio 4 now shipping.. Studio 4.7 is no longer available even for those of us who previously had it and upgraded.
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/56756/Will HeadShop be updated for Studio 4.8 in the near future?

Studio 4.8 beta has a different file structure, which will not work with HeadShop. If you have issues with Studio 4.8 Released, there's a fix suggested by a reader:
"I updated “frame dot net”(through Windows update), and HeadShop is working normally."
No Need to Buy HairShop Separately, It is Included in HeadShop 9! (Commercial)HeadShop 9 is finally shipping at the the DAZ store - complete with DAZ Install Manager installer.
It also features HairShop included: use and fashion hairs within HeadShop!
FaceShop is now called HeadShop - Shipping at DAZ (Commercial)I just purchased HeadShop 9 at Daz3d.com and installed.
When I ran HeadShop 9 in the Daz studio 4.8(stable official, not beta) after loading Genesis 2, a popup window poped up, saying "No surface configuration has been recorded for this figure. Surface selection will need to be applied manually".
I clicked "OK" and HeadShop window came up.
Then I assigned a Morph/Texture name and selected "Face" and "Lips" in Surface selections, and "Head" in Geometry to morph settings, and click "Accept". (I read your manual)
Then again a popup window came up saying "HeadShop closed before it could creat the necessary files..."
I clicked OK, and the popup disappeared, and nothing happened.
Please let me know what to do.
Thank you in advance.
=======================I found the solution.
I updated "frame dot net"(through Windows update), and HeadShop is working normally.

Thank you.
FaceShop is now called HeadShop - Shipping at DAZ (Commercial)I've upgraded to Headshop and read the manual but it doesn't say whether I should uninstall Faceshop 8 before installing Headshop. Can I install Headshop without removing the previous version of Faceshop? If I have to remove Faceshop 8 how do I do this and which files do I need to remove? Thanks for your help!

In fact, they're pretty much the analog equivalent of the DAZ store...And are usually next to day care centers because Houston doesn't believe in zoning laws :)

HeadShop does quite a bit of "sculpting". Admittedly very experienced sculptors can do impressive sculpting - HeadShop is for the rest of us. It provides a very easy way to get good results in a short time.

Creating a realistic Face from stock photos in 3DParadigm6790 said:Hi!Back in highschool I worked at a place that worked on a facial-recognition software that mapped faces to 3D heads. My job was to put weight points on critical areas of the face: tops and sides of the eyes, corner of the mouth, each peak of the lips, the eye brows, the nose, the ears... You get it.
Anyway, as others have said, the quality is very much based on the resolution. When I worked there, best results were a face dead on, blank stare, and the same pose from both sides. It's going to be a waste of time to try it unless you have all of these requirements.
This software was very, very expensive. But this was also ~9 years ago.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c2Yvd2DaiDgCreating a realistic Face from stock photos in 3DWelp Facegen, Faceshop/Headshop, iClone and Poser faceroom basically do the same thing.
Poser uses a form of Facegen but it only works on its own included figures however in Poser you can swap heads and load the other expression variations as morph targets, you even if you have iClone 3Dxchange pipeline could export iClone heads and stick them on Poser characters and use the morph brush to shape the neck join but is an awful lot of fluffing around. Prob Simon your best choice as in iclone itself the head texture has a UV option for him.
None of these give as good a result as manually sculpting the mesh though.Creating a realistic Face from stock photos in 3DIClone you would only be able to export a static mesh and facegen would be superior to it anyway
Faceshop now Headshop by Abelone is another choice but honestly hand doing it will prob give much better results be it with morphs or say sculpting base mesh with out changing vertex order in Zbrush, Blender or Sculptris, last two free first very expensive.FaceShop is now called HeadShop - Shipping at DAZ (Commercial)Abalone LLC said:Abalone LLC said:Enchanted Pixie said:I bought this directly from Abalone's store and I am running into nothing but errors even following the tuts. LasloPixie,
I appreciate your call today. I further appreciate your remarks of continued loyalty to FaceShop/HeadShop and that you like our products.
The big missing link here is that you are trying to use HeadShop with DAZ Studio 4.8 Public Built, which is a beta product. Currently it creates separate folders that exist next to regular DAZ Studion 4.7 folders with the added moniker "Public Built".
I spent some time trying to figure a way around the issue and came up short. It is clear that DAZ built the beta with file structures that will be changed with the regular release.
My advice is NOT to attempt to use HeadShop with the beta software and wait for the regular release of DAZ Studio 4.8.
We will be happy to refund your money if you like - or alternately just use Studio 4.7 for the time being. (It is preserved and you will find it untouched in your Program Files/DAZ 3D folder.
LasloThanks for posting the results ... always happy to hear of happy endings :-)
