The default 40% off works. The extra 20% off for owning V8 works.
The extra 20% off on Gen2 compatible items does not seem to work. The extra 40% off Gen items does not seem to work.
Even if I add items from the Gen2 or Gen category, I end up with a 52% discount (40%+20%). They should be 61.6% off (40%+20%+20%) and 71.2% off (40%+20%+40%).Why Daz Needs to Release New GenerationsThe people who are complaining represent a minority of the shoppers at DAZ store. Most buyers never use the forum. Numbers will tell in the end, and I suspect Victoria 8 will be a big seller.
I have to say you are right, while the forum people are loud they need more number to really influence DAZ or Vendors, numbers are what drives the market. But I will say you had a win on the decryption stuff
Victoria 8, a bridge too far???I'm not sure why people are freaking out about it being so "soon". Did they do this to G2 and G3 releases as well? The figure releases are on a 2 year release schedule. G2 came out two years after G1, G3 came out two years after G2, and now G8 has come out two years after G3. If they stick with the same schedule as they have the past few figure releases, we'll be seeing G9 in June 2019.
Not looking forward to two years from now seeing AGAIN so many complaining posts about it being "too soon". Just get over it. Get on board with the new figure or pass it up. No one is forcing you to keep up with each figure line release.
Me neither. And, yes, they did. Genesis' "reign" lasted 603 days (October 25th 2011 to June 19th 2013), and people cried. Genesis 2's era lasted 732 days (June 20th 2013 to June 22nd 2015), and people cried. Genesis 3's "reign" lasted 722 days (June 23rd 2015 to June 14th 2017), and... well, same old. What they didn't seem to notice, there are still lots of Genesis and Genesis 2 products in the store, even the long time dethroned Victoria 3 is still around, and DAZ regularly gives bundles containing M4/V4 away for free. ["... too old!..."
]I'd guess even if Genesis 9 would be released in June 2020, there still would be lots of crying.
"Too soon... too late... too ugly... too cute..."
Does in the US DAZ 3D delegates stand in every customer's home behind your back, pointing a big gun on your head urging you to push that buy button...?
Lydia HD for Victoria 7 [Commercial]Hi everyone! This is my new character for Victoria 7.
Bring realism and uniqueness to your renders with this beautiful new character for Victoria 7!
Lydia is a high-quality character with HD morphs and two head and body shapes handcrafted in Zbrush, no additional morphs needed. This set includes face asymmetry for more realism and three Iray translucency options to choose from, as well as makeup, eyes, and nail materials for both Iray and 3Delight.

Why Daz Needs to Release New GenerationsSeeing a lot of people complainging that Genesis 8 arrived too soon. Its been 2 years and people need to realize Daz is in the business of making money. I'm sure they have a lot of data tracking what products sell the most and plan around an aggresive calendar release to keep consistent interest going. When you release a new generation, it sparks interest for lapsed buyers and brings them back. You see this in any industry. As soon as a company notices sales dropping, time to release something new. Does not have to be a signifigant improvement, as long as it sounds new you get peoples attention. Just like how Apple releases a new phone every year. A tiny improvement, but the new name draws in new buyers every year. Its like Apple customers complaing the 6s release was too soon because they just bought a 6 a year ago. If releasing new generations boosts sales, you can't blame Daz for doing so. Its how businesses operate and survive.
Where is the "Like" button when you need one?! Good speach.

But supposedly the Ugliest Victoria Ever will.
Victoria 7 didn't sell? I doubt that...

I really love Genesis 8!I am enjoying Genesis 8 as well, I still use all Genesis versions. I think a new figure adds more options instead of taking them away. And Victoria 8 is very sophisticated. I`m excited for things to come.
Why Daz Needs to Release New GenerationsSo lets look at what they're selling that supposedly isn't selling. Apparently Centaur 7 female, released two weeks ago, didn't sell. Neither did Ophelia 7, released about 2 weeks prior to that. But supposedly the Ugliest Victoria Ever will. So if I can't entice "Broadies" to buy Centaur 7 female, and I can't entice "Graduates" to buy Ophelia 7.. What is a trainwreck of Sandra Bullock and Geena Davis supposed to appeal to?
If Vicky is all that is selling.. DAZ, under this logic, would be better served to release a new Genesis every 6 months.
Victoria 8 problemSo, just to make sure:
- You must be using the 4.9.4.11 version of Daz Studio. This should be installed first.
- You must install the Genesis 8 essentials package first before installing Victoria 8. If you had downloaded it before, make sure you download again from DIM to be sure you have updated files. Same with the Victoria 8 files.
- Verify Genesis 8 is loading and working.
- Install Victoria 8.
- Double click to add a full Victoria 8 actor.
- If you're using Connect and got a bad installation of the Essentials package, Victoria 8 loads as gray blocks. Connect users would not in that situation get the expected "you need this product" message since they have it, just a corrupt installation.
- Reinstalling a good version of the starter essentials...and the Victoria 8 files should resolve the issue.
Victoria 8So what is this hair on Victoria 8? I thought it would be in the pro bundle but it doesn't seem like the same ponytail
looks like the twilight hairs Twilight Hair for Genesis 3 Female(s) https://www.daz3d.com/twilight-hair-for-genesis-3-females

I really love Genesis 8!I really love Generation 8 female as well. I think she is my favorite Victoria to date. I particularly love her expressions and the long eye shape. I really love her look. she rocks.
sad dayAt this point, V8/G8 is more of a curiosity to me. I'm pretty heavily invested in G2 and G3 (only been onboard with Daz since late January), and I expect that Genesis 3 will be relevant for some time yet. Especially since it's going to take some time for all of the Content Designers to update their characters to G8, if they are even inclined to do so (some will update, others will not). And Centaur 7, Ophelia, etc. just recently entered the Daz library, and the Genesis 3 library is pretty extensive at this point, so I think Genesis 3 has legs for some time yet.
Plus, it looks like a good amount of the Genesis 3 clothing and hair will port to Genesis 8 without too many issues, so you are good to go there. Don't feel bad about buying those because they are still useful.
Heck, we have people here that still swear by Victoria 4, and she's no spring chicken these days... So don't sweat it, man!
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 9I think she is my favorite victoria to date. Barbult's render is lovely, and just shows how realistic this figure is. I love the figure's natural fluid posing, and beautiful smile. I love that her eyes are longer and not big round things. I just wish that hair was less thin int he front. But even so, she is lovely.
why the heck did they skip so many numbers?I like that they did this. I've thought seeing "Victoria 7 for Genesis 3" was strange looking. It may not be categorically correct but, having the numbers match up is less confusing, in my opinion.
why the heck did they skip so many numbers?New people coming into 3D art here can get confused as to what figures are being talked about. Victoria 5 is Genesis 1, Victoria 6 is Genesis 2, Victoria 7 is Genesis 3. I think some people were getting confused when explaining what figures they're talking about because we tend to abbreviate the Genesis line with "G1" "G2" "G3" etc yet the official characters in those figure lines where a different number "V5 M5" "V6 M6" etc. This was headed for more confusion because people also refer to one of the really old figure lines as Generation 4 (which is abbreviated G4). Releasing Victoria 8 as a Genesis 4 figure (wich would, of course, be abbreviated as G4) would have gotten more confusing I think. Anyway, that's my theory. They finally simplified things by having the Genesis number coincide with the Victoria/Michael numbers.
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 9Here is a quick render of Victoria 8.
Essentially kept all at default for skin tones.
Victoria 8So what is this hair on Victoria 8? I thought it would be in the pro bundle but it doesn't seem like the same ponytail
DAZ Studio Crashes When Converting G3F Clothes for G8FI get a crash went fitting G3F hair to G8F with a face morph I transferred from G3F applied. That doesn't happen in prior version of DS (well for me not since March 2016 when I reported Cupcake and other G2F clothing crashing when I autofit them to the Brooklyn G3F or Victoria 7 characters).
Ice Dragon Art WIP'sSonja, Thanks for pointing that out. I left the updates un-downloaded. I did however grab Victoria 8 Pro bundle and some add ons since they are quite inexpensive.
Hopefully you have a backup of the previous or earlier version.
I can always download the beta and use that if necessary but this should happen. I have uninstalled and am reinstalling it now to see if that helps.
Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 9Here's a render of G8F default skin and Toulouse hair. I had fun with Power Pose morphing her face and giving her a smirky smile.
I've been resisting Victoria 8 all day but after another look I'm weakening. She is so beautiful and has fibermesh eyebrows!
RGcincy, I love the Economatics renders you have bee doing. I bought it when it first came out and haven't used it much. Great background trees and awesome grass!
