Ya know, it occurs to me that the V8 Pro at $66 with another 30% off is $46.  So, if you bought all the Victoria bundles in the past, you'd now save $20 off V8.  You wouldn't be getting a bunch more stuff because you already own it all.  However, if you hadn't purchased any of the items in the various Victoria pro bundles over the years (unlikely I know), and bought V8 at $66, now, you'd save around $300 and get a ton of cool items.

Overall, I'd have to say that the V8 Pro deal is okay for long term Daz buyers.  But, it's a fantastic deal for newbies that don't own any of that stuff.  Now, if Daz made it "Buy V8 Pro Bundle for $66 and choose 3 other pro bundles you don't already own (1 out of each previous generation, to be fair)," I'd be all over that deal in flash!  Right now, my discount is $6 off and I would get a few cool items that I didn't already have.  But, most of these are fairly redundant poses and clothing items.  So, I'm not hating the deal.  But, I'd really love to be able to take advantage of the same savings that a new Victoria buyer would get and pick out some full pro bundles that I haven't already bought most of the items.  For instance, I'd pick Ivan 7 Pro, Nineva 6 or Gia 6 Pro, and Aiko 5 Pro.  Or, if I have to do only women, I'd pick Anneka Demon Pro or Rune 7, or Josie 7, or Arabella 7.  All of those bundles, I only own a few of the items.  So, it would be a much better deal for me.

Anyway, just a thought.  I'm not poo pooing what's being offered.  But, a "choose your own" option might be good for those of us that already own all of the Victorias and the majority of their bundle items. It would certainly get me off the fence.

Agree with this so much. I've been watching the deals and the incentives to buy the new Victoria 8 for past loyal buyers isn't that great, compared to the incentive for someone who has never bought any Victoria Pro model to buy. As it is, when I look at what I paid for past Victoria Pro model packages, even with the additional 10% discount (I'm not sure how it went from me buying 2 past pro models to 3 while I was travelling the Western US...) at $46, that is still steep for a Pro package that doesn't offer a lot of content I am interested in. 
I think I'll be sticking with Gen3, Gen2, Gen1 and Generation 4 for the foreseeable future. As DAZ prices seem to trend up, my DAZ purchases have been trending way down. Haven't even been checking in while on this vacation out of fear of missing a great stacking sale, like on vacations past. But, on a lot of items that have been coming up, I've been finding myself thinking, "I wonder how hard it would be to model that in Hexagon myself..." Maybe I'll spend less time shopping and more time modelling going forward.  
 

I really like G8 so far.  But, it isn't a night and day improvement to G3.  Perhaps, we'll see more of what it is capable of being in the coming months.  On the other hand, the advent of G8F is driving some of the G3F items down.  The PC+ stacking sale has been the most interesting thing to me this past week.  But, I'm still wondering how much of it I actually need for my runtime.  I would have preferred not to have to pick 2 new items from only one day's banner.  It seems like Daz is trying to get people away from using new PC+ items as a qualifier.  They really shouldn't worry about that too much.  I mean, I tend to load up my cart when the deals are really good.  I've bought thousands of items and yet, I STILL have 800+ in my wishlist.  So, there's no need to narrow the deal qualifiers that much...LOL  I hope they go back to more of the "Any New Release" type sales.

Indeed... it might work after like 1 year, when you have enough content (Maybe) But perhaps you like do the same stuff with the same clothes over and over again. I know I don't.

And of course using the same forms of bodies over and over, with the only difference is like the head and some on the body. For me that is an anatomy expert it's just not fun. I create series, and games so I need tons of content and not just ONE thing that looks a little better. All rendering, and I mean ALL is about light effects, shadows and angles. I can make genesis 1 models to be close the same beauty as a genesis 3 with a lot of work.

And no, Victoria 8 does not look real. None does, that is what 3D is. They improved a little, but for me who knows how to put out lights not much was really that improved. The duck mouth you all are talking about is unexperienced anatomy mistakes. You can not make a 3D model smile without knowing the human anatomy of the body. So many factors are in. That you get a better smile with Victoria 8 is just because the morph is better then on Genesis 3. However, I do my own poses and face expressions so for me it's just blah.

Other than reimporting metadata (and I already saved user files) what should I do folks?

Look at the top and see if there is another page that you can access by pressing an arrow. I believe some panes can only show a limited number (256?) of icons per page.

in the Victoria 8 Goes Medieval promo that version of her reminds me looks so much like an actress I've seen a real lot of but I just can't think who she is but it is in someone I've seen a lot of somewhere

Y is Victoria 8 so Ugly... I did not want to get this one for the fact I dont want to work on somthing that I am not attractive to... I payed to have her anyways, but I will not do anything with her untill a Victoria 8 model comes out that meets my needs. I will say this is the worst face Ive seen so far out of the 4yrs I have been doing this..

I was inspired by this thread.

Courtyard came out in 2004, that's Victoria 4. Most of the building textures are Mec4D stone textures, though I had to preserve original stuff for the detailed reliefs. Getting the stone block textures to line up with the geometry of blocks along edge was a royal pain. I think it ended up tiled 4.57 or something, and then there was a building where the scale of two connected walls was different. NNNGH.

That looks great, @timmins.william! I can only imagine the well of patience you have to fidget with the wall until it was lined up so seamlessly! Which product is that courtyard?

Thanks for sharing your Old West Mercantile Interior  render here, @Greybro! I want to take a shot at this one next, because NGS handles wood so beautifully! Once I finish rendering and comparing the one I'm doing, I'll see if I can get some comparisons for this set as well :D. Did you convert it through uberbase or through shaders?

If you installed her with DIM, you can right click on her installation package in the DIM and have it show you where it installed her files (Show Installed Files). Did you install Victoria 8 to a content directory that you have mapped under Daz Studio Formats in the Daz Studio Content Directory manager? If so, try just uninstalling Victoria 8 and reinstalling her first. If not, then map the content directory you installed her into with the Daz Studio Content Directory Manager. If it still doesn't work, we probably need more details about your configuration.

Edit: Did you ever do the conversion from Valnetina DB to the PostSgre SQL data base? Did you install Genesis 8 Starter Essentials?

Real Curly does fit just fine!

Here I mixed my converted Karen 7 with Victoria 8. The skin is Karen's, but I modified the settings. The earrings, necklace, and dress are all autofit from G3F. The eye materials are from one of the G8F characters, maybe Duffy; I forgot which one i used. The dress texture is from PD Iray Shader Kit 2. The lighting and background are from a free HDRI from textures.com. I recolored the Real Curly hair, too, to coordinate with her brows. I haven't tried the Oh My Brows on G8F yet. Oh, and I used the G8F Great Lashes, too. There's always more to try and more to learn.

This looks great, what did you do with the skin? It's the best I've seen!

Well, let's see if I can remember/reconstruct what I did. I started with Karen 7 Iray skin materials. I corrected the SSS Reflectance tint for the fingernails and eye socket to match the rest of the skin. I lightened and/or reduced saturation on translucency color and SSS reflectance tint for skin, lips, nails. I changed the SSS Mode from Mono to Chromatic and added an orange/flesh colored SSS color. I fiddled with the other SSS/Transmission settings values until I liked the result. I adjusted top coat settings to add more gloss. I did not use Dual Lobe Specular Weight. I'm sure lighting has something to do with the look, too.

And if that doesn't work you will need to repeat the above but before the reboot delete

5a) delete C:\Users\<my user>\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4 and delete C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 and delete C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4 Public Build

or what left in those after the uninstalls. That is so you get permissions repaired if you installed 'as Administrator' earlier. They can be quite messy in Windows. 

Then after step 10 you will need to use DIM to uninstall and reinstall all of your DAZ model products (i.e. M4/V4/Genesis Essentials/Genesis 2 Essentials/.../Victoria 8 and so on).

Finally you may need to re-enter all the serial numbers for DS and it's plugins after all that.

All that could take you a few hours.

Yup- the bodybuilding and fitness morphs can be dialed out as well as Victoria's morphs if need be.
