Yeah, the team's really doing us proud this year!

If it's not pouring rain (as it is right now) the usual summer celebration stuff, snags and burgers on the barbie, ice cream, etc.. When the kids were small, we'd pop down to the lake and lounge on the beach for a good part of the day. There'll be fireworks everywhere as well.

This year, weather permitting, well be grilling on my daughter's firepit (her place is a five minute walk from here, the perfect distance for this newly-minted septuagenarian).

  • Render your buys! Use buys from the current month and the previous month of sales

This is mostly composed of items from the Robin bundles.

As for the "Classic Straight Hair," it was just my favorite of the hair products I picked up in recent days.

There's a guy in the background at the video game with new clothes and hair, but he's not nearly clear enough in the final version of the render to count those ...

Spent money for DAZ items the first time since the end of January yesterday and today, as finally something appeared as Daily Deal that was ready to pay for - a cemetary, non exclusive for G9 - while my favourite's artist was eligible for the wishlist and 70% off featured artist sale. I hope all the big spenders here make up for my stinginess and buy many items made by Chris Cox at full price, as the products would be worth it.

Does anyone buy at full price?  The store is designed to focus on "sales" and prolific artists like Cox are almost constantly on sale.  That said, yeah, Chris Cox is one of those PAs who don't get enough appreciation, but as they're one of the handful of vendors who still consistantly supports G8 at DAZ, I've bought out most of their DAZ catalog (all but 9 out of 140) as well of most of their products at Rendo.

Chris Coxr's costumes are almost all removable and can be transformed in various ways, making him a highly commendable artist. Unfortunately, most of his costume designs don't suit my taste; I prefer styles like Sue-Yee or Lilflame.

The cover design is also an issue. For example, this one (https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-sunrise-robe-for-genesis-9-and-8-female) has such a plain cover that, frankly, it's easy for me to overlook it. But the actual garment features a variety of vibrant patterns, even offering clean and stained versions, and comes in various lengths. This is definitely a product I'd regret not buying.

As you said, these are overlooked gems of artists. Heaven knows how many other excellent artists and products are being overlooked here. This makes me feel obligated to check out the contents every time a new product launches, even if I'm not interested in the cover.

A couple things Daz could do is requre any gallery images to have links to items used, not optional, but required. A gallery image can't even be posted if it doesn't use any Daz content in the image from this site and also require a wireframe image to prove it was made in Daz, like Renderosity does for contests now. And then anyone violating this is banned from gallery posting.

I would prefer not to make the gallery submission process any more awkward than it currently is, and instead incentivise users to include product links rather than force them to. (As, indeed, the product listing tools are actually quite horrible).

This isn't particularly difficult to do, even without getting into Rendo's approach of trying to give you store rewards for doing it. If you integrate gallery posts into store pages (although probably in a separate section that makes it clear they are user-submitted content) - much like Daz Deals currently does - then people are naturally given a bigger and better audience for their work, so there's a good reason to want to list products you used.

Expecting people to submit wireframe images and the like would just make the gallery more hassle to use, when the real thing Daz should be trying to do is make it more used and more popular to inspire people to use their products and post more works to inspire others.

    This.

I would stop posting in the gallery if all that extra stuff was required. There's really nothing in it for me except a hope that seeing one of my pictures makes somebody smile. Requiring a list of all assets? For most of the settings I have kitbashed together, that woud be incredibly time-consuming. I'm not going to spend all that effort proving my art is actually MY art. I'd rather spend it making some more art.

I had no idea I would be grateful that my son was 1.5 years to almost 5 when we lived in Athens Greece without AFRTS TV (American Armed Forces TV) forbidden by the Greek Government. Until VCR/Beta machines came out, no mindless programs in the homes. For entertainment we had books and we went to movies at the base theatre. Or visited with folks or toured ancient Greek sites, the beach, or bistros. And played/watched T-Ball and laughed when the outfield ran off for a bathroom break on their own. (1979 to 1982) Of course his teachers hated it. He hadn't been turned into a mindless drone by the time he hit public school in the states. Had no idea of Ronald McDonald or Big Bird. He did know some Greek which flummoxed the teachers.

I dunno, I never put screen limits on Teen Kiddo, and last fall's standardized tests (beginning of 8th grade) they scored at the end of 12th. Some of the scores hadn't changed from the previous year (beginning of 7th) because they'd topped it out. They're also writing college level papers (one of the ones for English was a critique of some of Edgar Allen Poe's works through a feminist lens). And Little Dude does get a lot of benefit even out of the shows that annoy me. So personally I don't think the screens themselves are bad. (And even some of the shows I hate aren't horrible content, I just can't stand the voice acting.) And in a situation where going places just isn't an option, it's an absolute sanity saver and window to the world.

I do draw the line at shows that glorify being mean, though. Normalizing that is so, so not okay.

The one thing that would have been really useful, and that could clearly be achieved given that the coding information is already being used in the store, would be for the product library and wishlist to be sorted by product categories like Hair, Environments, Props, etc.  Also, though probably not as easy to implement, I'd really love to have a way to display the store and hide all the products that are texture only.

I think it's about time your neighbour farmer bloke installed a retaining wall laugh

The hill is rather steep.  I don't see how he could have a productive farming arrangement on his property.  But perhaps he could learn a thing or two from Andean terracing & hillside sculpting.enlightened  It's not a real farm with herds of cattle or vast fields of crops.  He has an old barn, and a couple of large gardens behind his house, and some small barnyard animals. (Thank god he got rid of the pigs)  He used to have horses which he kept in the long steep yard front of the house that runs down to the main street, right past my kitchen window.  I think the horses were in deference to his teenage daughter's starry eyed obsession.  Someone just happened to point out to town officials that farm animals cannot be kept within pooping distance of houses and roads within the town, and the horses went away.  That lot is now used as parking space for his various small trailers that come and go during various times of the year.  He does mow & trim weeds in the front yard (it's a BIG yard) every week and it looks OK even with the trailer(s) parked there.  Nice guy, but I do think he needs to rethink his dirt situation.indecision

An Observation:  For a couple of weeks I haven't seen the feral cat that lives in the drainage ditch on the other side of his property.  Nor have I seen the cat lady leave any food at its typical haunt.  The last time I saw the cat up close, it looked pretty ragged.

    Heya :3
Lately my PC had a lot of problems with the windows thing because I still have windows 10. After I made recovery for my files when I try to open the saving file or render it that makes a FATAL ERROR. Can I fix it?
And question two I want to buy NEW PC. What the best way to save my models with how I made them? (Body Shape/Face and everything)
    Thanks!.

For the first one, if you hit "More", it it an Access Violation issue?  Daz throws them a lot.  You can google "Daz3d access violation crash windows 10" and you'll get many threads on the topic - one might be the solution for you.  Geometry Sculptor loves to throw that error for me even with win11, as does working in large scenes.  How big is your scene?

As for saving your models for a new PC, you can just copy whatever folder you have them in currently to your new PC (as long as it's in a folder in your library) and it should be fine.  I did that with mine with no issue.

Ok thanks everyone! about the saving I always save Character Preset and wearble preset. I have the texture in saved folders to make sure it won't get damage as well :3 So hope I do right.
About my files I'm very creative person that love to put a lot of details on her art so I have big files , But even some small files wont work.
I thought maybe better update my DAZ3D? didn't updated it for half year. and also maybe move to windows 11, Update thing.
    Thanks everyone!!! :3

Is just me or does DAZ Install Manager automatically install DAZ Studio 6 without being told to?

Install Manager doesn't automatically install any downloaded packages incl. DS 6... unless you check the option Install After Download in Ready to Download tab.

It must have been under the list of "New" downloads instead of the "Updates" and I didn't notice it there. I wanted to avoid updating/upgrading DAZ Studio so I wouldn't lose access to the 3Delight renderer and all of the products related to that I purchased over the years. It caught me by surprise when a popup appeared asking for my preferences for DAZ Studio 6 and I hadn't seen it in the list of downloads selected. I'm glad that I didn't lose the version of DAZ Studio 4 that I had installed but I did notice in the "Installed products" tab of DAZ Install Manager that DAZ Studio 4 disappeared and DAZ Studio 6 is there only.

DS6 is a completely separate version so installing it won't affect your DS4 install.

Did you maybe hide DS4 in DIM so you wouldn't risk installing the update?

No. I did not hide anything so I find it odd that it's not listed under the installed tab.

  • RTX 5090 and slow daz

I think you'd need to provide more information - is there anything in the log?  What is the crash information (Hitting the 'More' button)?  What are the steps you're performing - how big is the scene, etc.  Limbs can move really slowly for a lot of reasons - including a lot of smoothing on the characters clothing, etc.  There's also a few bad hair products on the store that make characters almost unusable if they have it.  Does it happen if you just load a basic character into an empty scene and just fiddle with it for a while - does it crash then?  Does it get slow/laggy/crash in Iray Preview or is it other things (texture shaded, etc.) as well?  Viewport is definitely slower in Daz 6 than in 4.24, and Daz 6 crashes more than 4.24.  I have a 5090 as well and in large/complex scenes, or with a lot of characters, I do most of the work in 4.24 and only use Daz 6 to hit the render button because of that (both can be installed together)

One thing to check too is to make sure it is set up and recognizes your 5090 in render setings, and that the checkbox is checked to use it.

Correct, DS6 shouldn't be under "Update" unless you've installed it before. But DS 6 is installed separately into the dedicated folder of its own and has a different SKU# rather than DS4's, so you should be able to find both of DS4 and DS6 under Installed Products. Check the screenshot down below.

Besides, better always back up the old DS packages / installers, just in case...

I bought the https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-eg-dress-04-for-genesis-9 today and tested it [...]

It really is frustrating the number of products with promos that expect us to guess what the product looks like from the sides or back.

Very often, I will straight-up refuse to purchase a product, even if I theoretically like it, if it refuses to show it well from all angles.

+1 -- if I don't know what I'm getting, I don't get it. I seriously don't understand how people can put such effort into making the product, then not even spare a couple extra shots for a full 360. I'm not even asking for anything fancy. Just... /something./

re the dress: I wouldn't have figured that was a slit, either. I figured the dress was just a bit more sheer and that was how the light was hitting it.
