I spoke too soon.

So I want to start with Victoria 5. The icon shows the error exclamation point.

Turns out I had my directories pointing to the wrong folder somehow, so I fixed that and the icons show up correctly, but...

I still get the same error saying the file does not exist.

I navigate to the location I have installed everything to, and the files are there, so I'm having a brain fart as far as how to proceed to fix it.

When I was a freelance photographer's assistant in the 80s, I worked on a Playboy shoot in Venice for 2 weeks. I can honestly say they were some of the nicest people I ever worked with. Everyone on the shoot became good friends, and for quite a few years after it, the photographer and editor kept in contact with me through Christmas cards, etc. They used to talk about what a great family atmosphere there was at Playboy, and they genuinely gave the impression they felt lucky to be a part of the magazine.

And yes, there was some nudity, but no one made any big deal of it, and the finished pics were very tasteful.

Hopefully playboy is more tasteful than the porn magazine some guy showed me to prove that fat girls are beautiful but those images were not tasteful at all.  Where is the brain bleach as I need to remove memories of that guy and his porn magazine from my head.  Learned the hard way not to tell anyone in real life about my desire to use nude pictures to texture Victoria.

Tried re-installing DAZ again.  Then I started going through each category and installing any items that had the Download/Install watermark.  Now I have quite a few duplicate items showing up such as two of Victoria 5. I checked and all of my custom third party content is there, but none of it is searchable now.  So if I select and item by AlfaSeed, and select the Artist name it won't bring up any of the other items in Smart Content.

Any ideas?

How do I get the genetials for the Victoria 7 Pro model to appear and not be grey? I figured out how to find them and add them, but they are grey no matter what I do.

I've got a question - as I did not make the step to G8, I'd like to know if it's possible to use these pale shaders on G3 figures too, eventually applying manually or something ?

Maybe I missed some previous comment on that, but I thought it might be worth to ask.

Yes you can use the skin shader on Genesis 3 Female figures as long as the UV map is set to "Base Female" instread of their own UV! (such as "Victoria 7")

I think you can apply them onto the corresponding surfaces straight away since there isn't much changes on material zones!

Thank you both for the advice.  I'll check into that.  It's a learning process and like everything else, I still have a lot to learn.  I'll get there.  Baby steps. :)

So, what have I been doing?  Well, the writing is coming a long.  I actually had a good day yesterday and today.  Lots of good progress so I'm happy with that.  I finally figured out a part of the plot that had me stumped as to what the heck was going on with my characters.  I have to say that now that I know where this is going, I'm excited again.  It is amazing how figuring out one part of the plot will make everything else just fall into line and you suddenly know the whole story and it suddenly goes in a totally different direction than you originally thought.  Hopefully, that move will make it better.  At this point, I think so.

On the DS front, I picked up the Rarestone Face Morphs Collection packages for both male and female Gen 8 figures.  I had some fun playing with both in Simtenero Randomizer.  I managed to get some good looking guys who will make great cover models.  Just have to do some fine tuning on their morphs.  When I started with the ladies, I somehow had the morph percentage turned way up.  The first one I did of the ladies was downright scary.  @Isidorn thinks I should do a render of said scary lady.  I'm thinking about it.  However, it is a good idea to make sure you keep those morph percentages down or might get something totally unexpected.  Sometimes, that can be a good thing.  Before I turned the percentages down to a more reasonable 35%, I did manage to get this lady:

I love her chin and I think she would make a good witch.  Unfortunately, the only good old hag, witch type robes I have is for Genesis and they didn't exactly pose well with her.  I might have to try and either re-rig the outfit for Gen 8 or make an outfit and rig it for my witch.  I haven't decided which I'm going to do yet.  In the meantime, I put the Belle Dress on her and changed to more sedate materials and did a render of her before I do crazy things like add warts and give her a more witchy looking skin.  She Victoria 8's skin on her right now.  I went ahead and set up a regular promo test shot of her like I would every other character and I was actually surprised that she does have her own brand of beauty despite that pointy, witchy chin.

I see that there's currently a sale for Daz Originals and pro bundles (which I don't know how long it will last, if you have an idea please let me know) and I would like to buy a pro bundle and apply morphs to it, but I have no idea where to find these. For example I want to get Victoria 7, but find different body types / sizes and use them, any idea what should I look for on the store?

I already have one pro bundle and I am wondering if there is a point to buy more if I can just apply morphs to my existing character which will result in a completely different character.

Well, technically, she didn't start out that way. The original Stephanie was a female morph of Michael and was considered just another adult female (on who original Aiko was based IIRC). It wasn't until maybe Stephanie Petite 3 that she was considered a younger adult, and with Stephanie 4 was more or less considered "Vicky's little sis". I would prefer that she stay a somewhat younger adult, or at least a female that's a more normal height....lol.

Original Stephanie wasn't really less stocky. She and Vicky wore the same clothes IIRC :) To be entirely honest I don't remember for sure....it was the better part of 20 years ago and I have trouble remembering what I had for lunch earlier today. LOL

That was my recollection, too - different default face and different UVs, tweaked in the light of their experience with Michael, I think but same basic shape and rigging.

As far as i have readen the is no support for Genesis 3. Is it possible that i model the Morphs in Lite and then export it to another application like cinema 4d ?

There is an Victoria Model in the Package but they said there is no support for Genesis Models. Only the Standard Victoria.

I have G3 UVs for G2 and I like it (however to save a G2 character with G3 textures you have to save it as a Scene Subset instead of as a Character Preset  - which is fine, it works well - just different then the way I usually save characters and took some getting used to). :)

I've tried transferring character morphs from G3 to G2 via GenX2 and haven't had any luck - but I suspect that's because I have G3 saved to a different hard drive as G2 (I think they are all supposed to be saved to the same hard drive as GenX2). 

Here's Stephanie 6 with Victoria 7's mats (via the Cayman Studios product):

It seems to work best if you first save the Genesis 3 mats as a "Material Preset" and then the mats apply much easier to Genesis 2.

I heard the magazine was more than just pictures of nudes but had other content too.  Never got a magazine to find out.  Rather buy nude pictures that I can use for texturing instead of pleasure.  Basically rather have photos to help texture Victoria or Michael and gang.

Lex, I think you should consider releasing your outfits for us to use.  If you have a Daphne outfit for Victoria 4, that would be great.

I am going to do a simple circle skirt. To do this I need to know two things. First, how long do I want the skirt to be? From the 3D toolbar I select the Basic Tape Measure and measure down Victoria's leg from the base of the top.

So, I will go with 62 cm. The second measurement I need to know, is what is the circumference at the bottom of the top we just made? This will let me make a skirt that fits exactly to the top with no extra wrinkling. There is probably a better way to do this, but I take the Segment Sewing tool in the 2D window and hover over the seam lengths to tell me what they are, then add them together. I found that the measurement is 6.03 + 12.07 + 13.42 = 31.52 for one side. So both sides is 63.04 cm.

A circle with a circumference of 63.04 has a radius of 10.03. This is the waist radius. Adding the length of the skirt means the total skirt radius is 72.03. Select the Circle tool in the 2D window and click somewhere. Type in 72.03 (twice) for the radius.

Now there is a circle in the window. The waist has to be cut out from the center. Select the circle with the Transform Pattern tool (2D window), right click on the skirt circle and choose Offset As Internal Line. Offset by 62 cm (the length of the skirt).

The circle is the waist. Right click on it and choose Cut. Then delete the little cut out circle.

In the 3D window, rotate and move the skirt pattern so it is more or less centered under the top. Sticking a bit into the model is normal because this is a close fit.

In the 2D window, choose the Free Sewing tool and sew each top segment to its place on the skirt. I recommend starting at the front and working around. The Free Sewing tool should be used to sew the top to the bottom rather than vice versa, this will let you preview where on the skirt to stop the current seam and start the next segment.

Simulate and use the Select/Move tool (3D window) to drag the skirt out of her arms if it is stuck there.

Shape looks alright but very stretched out at the straps. This can be solved by using another fabric type. In the Object Browser (right of the screen) select Fabric, select the default fabric that is being used, and in the bottom of the screen select a different Physical Property (you can also make straps thicker by editing the pattern some more).

For this one I chose Wool. Notice that there is no longer very bad stretching all over, the fabric mostly holds its shape while still draping.

Next I will get into saving different fabrics so that DS will be able to use them as different materials.
