I generally prefer Genesis 3 overall, because I have the most stuff for it and I'm too lazy to move every single morph over to Genesis 8, lmao.

That said, what I use Daz for, I pretty much use everything I can get my hands on: Genesis 3, Victoria 4, David 5, Laura 3, Monique 8... (even non-Daz characters like Dawn and Baby Luna. Dusk is too much of a bulky butterball for me to use) I don't limit myself to just one generation or figure set entirely. And with programs like CrossDresser (which sorely needs an update, as it's showing it's age, bad), Marvelous Designer and Blender, fitting clothes not native to one generation to another is fairly easier, though not without its problems.

But I often prefer to use Genesis 3, simply because there's more variety and utilities out there for it. Time will tell if Genesis 8 has the same staying power.

I guess a lot of people think that way - that would explain why I often hear people talking the way they do about "base G8F" or "Genesis 8 Female" in general in ways that make no sense. lol And I think Agent Unawares is right - it probably mainly stems back from Victoria 4 days when V4 WAS the base female figure and all the characters were morphed from her.

You are correct. I was mistaken. When G8F was released I got an orange banner deal on V8 so I bought that and really never used either for much except a couple of renders. But somehow when I think of G8F I think of V8 since that's what I rendered and I don't care that much for her look. Some do, some don't.  I don't. That's all I meant.  My real point wasn't about the look of the model but rather the fact that I didn't see anyhting that made me jump up and say "I've got to start from scratch with a new model and re-buy all the stuff I bought for the old one because this is a feature I just absolutely have to have!"

I like both renders, but particularly the the second one.  It's lovely.

I wonder if posters might include info regarding what presets they used in their pics.  That could prove useful.

You're probably right about that. I create my own morphs so I'm used to looking at and working with the base Genesis 8 figure. You're probably right that many people probably don't use her very much.

Some folks are stuck in their ways, I suppose. And there are characters that do use Victoria, Monique, etc. as bases, so there is some basis for that, though it's still not entirely accurate.

That's not what I meant. :) Of course HD detailing should always be optional to use on a figure, because there are going to be uses for abckground filler and so on, where it just isn't needed (and for those whose systems wouldn't be able to use it). When it comes to Daz's own characters, however, they separate the HD morphs into a compeltely different product. To me, that feels disingenuous, because we're well beyond the stage where HD is being retrofitted. Victoria/Michael 7, much less 8, should have come with HD morphs included in one product, not forcing us to spend extra money on another product.

An idea came to me while I was working.  I saw a sign at work about Secret Santa and thought of offering a commission a 3D figurine printed via that 3D plugin offered free right now.  Of course I am not sure how to handle that as the gift is supposed to be around $20 and in my opinion that will cover the commissioned work and set up.  I know it is not enough to cover the 3D figures or the printing cost.

My question can I sell the 3D figures I either order via the 3D printer or when I get a 3D printer, stuff I print myself?  

Basically my question is what do I need to buy or get in order to legally sell a figuring of Lovely Monique in A Pose with a Clipboard or a N(early N)aked Victoria in a Temple with a Sword. (actually near an alter to make it look like she is in a temple)

I want to get a 3D printer but until then I have to get the primed 3D figurines about a hundred a pop.   Also what paint do I need to use for these figurines?  I got the paint brushes on the way but not sure what paint to get.

That will not be allowed.    At the moment the EULA stresses that 3D Printing is only for personal use.   No Commercial usage.

 There is a difference here; content by Josh Crockett or RawArt isn't the basis for a whole major character release, such as Darius or Monique, so they can afford to take the time to put in the details they want. DAZ has to have the main figure ready for people like Fred Winkler and others that want to create characters using that as a base before they can start, and the details that could be put into the HD aren't really needed for that.

No, I'm fairly sure most PAs don't bother. I'd be surprised if more that maybe 20% of character making PAs actually do make a majority of the characters they do with HD features. YOu also should remember that they can only sell any characters they make with HD here, and if DAZ turns down a submission, those that have stores elsewhere may want to be able to recover the time invested by selling elsewhere.

An idea came to me while I was working.  I saw a sign at work about Secret Santa and thought of offering a commission a 3D figurine printed via that 3D plugin offered free right now.  Of course I am not sure how to handle that as the gift is supposed to be around $20 and in my opinion that will cover the commissioned work and set up.  I know it is not enough to cover the 3D figures or the printing cost.

My question can I sell the 3D figures I either order via the 3D printer or when I get a 3D printer, stuff I print myself?

The genitalia are only included in the pro bundles. So for G2F you would need to buy the V6 Pro bundle

I have heard this posted in several places but I look at all the pro bundle includes, and genitalia isn't explicitly mentioned. Where do you see it detail that it will include this? Thud bundle is quite a bit of money to cross my fingers and hope. I want to buy three get 8 one, but as you can see, that is not an inconsiderable amount of money.

A G8 V4 clone is a highly limited morph of existing DAZ content requiring DAZ content to use, promoting the use of both older and newer DAZ content in conjunction, and seems to fall into this perfectly. But people are always kneejerk terrified of distributing clones. Does DAZ have a history of going after people who do this? Because I wouldn't expect it.

The shape cloned belongs to the creators, in the case of Victoria 4 Daz. A clone allows the use of content for that shape on another figure, it does not require the use of the original figure itself. So my reading of the EULA, which Daz has acted on, is that distributing a clone of a Daz shape for another figure (even another Daz figure) requires permission in advance.

I'm extremely disappointed to hear this. They should really clarify that since if something that only uses DAZ content to permit DAZ content to be used with DAZ content is unacceptable under that wording it casts doubt on what exactly is permissible at all.
