The new "blender to Daz plugin"
It works really well with KitBash stuff. You can download the native Blender files from Kitbash, and it keeps the textures without any additional work to import them individually. Definitely the coolest thing I've bought here in a long time.

Well, I got this Blender add-on nearly two years ago for Blender 3.6 from the vendor because I ever gave him some help through a coincidence. He's really a nice guy and has been making lots of effort on making this add-on... (nearly 9 Mil lines of codes up to now....)
You sound pretty knowledgable about this. Would this be the suite to use to move an entire scene from DAZ to Blender or would Diffeomorphic suffice?
I ask because I plan to upgrade my GPU in the future and would prefer to move away from Nvidia if possible, but I also like how iRay looks. Blender seems to be the best compromise for that since its lighting engines aren't reliable on specific GPU architecture (at least, last I checked).
Hah, it just integrates Diffeo as "its importer" to import scenes from DS... I suggest just stick to using Diffeo's panels to import what you need ~~ And still, Diffeo is the most powerful and reliable add-on for importing Daz stuff.
How much more does it actually have for $105? I've had mixed luck animating characters once transferred via Diffeo.
I have to say : too expensive ~~ I got it for free but I rarely use it nowadays. The vendor better gives a full introduction of the latest version for the potential users to watch before any buys...

if I one day can afford those KitBash3D sets, this could be useful for getting them into DAZ Studio
I have several of the Kitbash sets and it is an incredible pain to get them into Daz. I've pretty much given up. I also have some Evermotion sets that I would like to use in DS. If the import actually works...yay.
Quite a lot of kitbash sets were built with principle BSDF in shading, they can be well converted to iray uber with assigned maps as well as property values. Only some big scene may freeze Blender sessions when exporting.... that I ever encountered ~~

Oh, so even if they look like that in the 2nd screenshot, you should be able to filter them out. Pls try this way... I just reproduce a case like yours:
- Type in "xxxxxx to filter (screenshot 1)
- Or type in "keyword::xxxxxxx to filter (screenshot 2)See if that works for you ?
Dangit...searching the FULL filename with extension will return in the search. But none of the components of the filename return separately like they always had before, which completely defeats the purpose of naming my thousands of files with the keywords built into the filenames.
The only real difference between my two screenshots is that the untouched files that work had autogenerated not only "my_cool_filename.duf" BUT ALSO "my_cool_filename" as keywords when they were created, whereas the altered files where I had Edit Metadata regenerate the keywords automatically only generated the one with ".duf" at the end. Perhaps it can't parse it if it has ".duf"
It's looking like my only option is to go through all these files and add the string by hand without the .duf :( (and figure out some other way of reorganizing the rest of these folders so it doesn't happen again.)

For me, it works prfectly. I have tried to import free Blender scene with a character and animation and it worked. Anyway it worked with different animations and characters. I also tried to import static props and everything worked fine. See screenshots
Both renders in DS 4.24
This is a great! Is there much prep-work necessary in Blender?
Making morphs for figures with geo-grafts attachedI know I can export the Genesis models into blender as an .obj, edit their shape a bit, and then import the .obj back into Daz to serve as a morph. Is this possible to do if a geo-graft is attached to the figure? An example would be if a tail geo-graft is attached to the genesis figure, exported the figure with the tail attached as a .obj, edit the figure's and tail's shape together to make sure the design is perfect, and then import back into daz to serve as a morph for the genesis figure + tail geo-graft combo.
Is this possible?

Tags generated when updating metadata not working in searchImage1: old untouched file/folder. These were all auto-generated when the file was created initially. Every keyword listed there is found in search. (note by the way that I have NEVER had to use any wildcards or descriptors in search like key:: . Any keyword that appeared in the list always worked as is.)
Image2: moved file/foder. These are the keywords generated after redoing the metadata. None of these keywords pulled from the filename show in search, even with your key:: added in.

Then, as for auto words, you have to re-enter the original ones in Tag or enter Userwords in Content DB Maintenance (by Edit Metadata).
That's what I'm saying though. The keywords are back now after what I did in Edit Metadata, but they don't "work" for anything in these folders. I.E. If I look at the tag list for any of these files, they will list the keywords, but if I search the keywords, the files won't appear in the result list.

Tags generated when updating metadata not working in searchOkay, got it ~ So, after you renamed the folders, as I said, you just made all existing metadata Orphaned (incl. Content Type, Category, Compatibilities, and original vendor words / auto words of couse) ... The records of metadata are still in cms database but just with broken data links to the files ~~
Then, as for auto words, you have to re-enter the original ones in Tag or enter Userwords in Content DB Maintenance (by Edit Metadata).
Problems with Smart ContentThat's because those character products have wrong metadata, i.e. Figures category goes to non-default but Custom... then both Default and Custom are shown in Smart Content's category list at the same level.
You can fix them by following this thread in the same way: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/640661/solved-issue-with-category-classification-in-smart-content-tab-daz-studio-4-21-pro
Just assign: Default/Figures/People/... as needed.
UltraScatter2 - Now in store! On my MacMini M4 I have installed both the Millennium SubDragon, Millennium Dragon, and Millennium Dragon 2.0, but when I click on the SubDragon a window pops up 'The "SubDragon" support folder could not be found.' And then a window with PowerLoader : Import is there. The window is blank. Millennium Dragon crashes DAZ when you try to load. Millennium Dragon 2 is stable and loads. I do have UltraScatter2 Plugin. I do not have Victoria 4.2, Michael 4 or the The Kids 4 installed. Did not want to deal with the files.
Victoria 4 crashes Daz StudioI did not install Victoria 4.2 or Michael 4 on my new machines because of the massive number of files that need metadata, but with this issue, is it still possible for someone who wants to use the characters to move them up to Genesis or Genesis 2 with GenX? I am not sure, but I thought I had read GenX was not working any longer? But if you uninstalled your plugin long enough to load the character and move her up to a newer model, could you then reinstall the plug-in and use both at the same time?

I see they have a new Blender to DAZ studio importer
https://www.daz3d.com/blender-to-daz-studio-plugin
they should make a Carrara to DAZ studio one too, after all Hexagon has a bridge
instead we just got a duf slippery dip
from Studio I wonder if you save from Carrara to Blender boned then to DS.... looking at you Wendy

Dunno - probably FBX it, will need to solve this myself for the characters I will be modelling in Blender. Aim is to model and rig them in Blender then import them into Carrara for renders.
The new "blender to Daz plugin"Anyone tried this yet? it's kind of a big deal if it can just convert all FBX asset into daz with a few clicks and flawlessly retain most of its , material, texture and scale. these usually cause most headace if one wants do import them manually. And the animation tool too, using blender to animate Daz asset is much faster and easier.
Also, does it work on alpha public build? so far 90% plugins and scripts are unusable in Aploha 6.25 build
So I have two "My Library" Folders...I'm sure that I'm the only person that this has happened to, lol.
Still using Windows 10 for now. Problem happened some time around the Daz Central Connect era, which I no longer use, and made it a point to opt out as quickly as possible when I could. I am using both Alpha (I like what I see so far) and Public Beta 4.24. Both of them have content that is fetchable by DAZ, so it's holding together and I can use Daz, but....I like ot keep things simple, and would prefer a setup that Daz prefers.
Paths are:
C> Users > Public > Public Documents > My DAZ 3D Library (this is the oldest and with the most content)
C> Users > Public > Public Documents > Daz 3D > InstallManager > Applications > Data > Daz 3D > My Daz 3D Library (about a third of content, and seems to be newer)
Edit, actually I have 3 when I open up Daz itself under Content Directory Manager. I have an additional "My library" listed under Users > "my name" > Documents > Daz 3D > Studio > My Library (probabably really old, and I'm thinking very little is in there, and I have probably moved content from here to the second oldest ages ago), but there is a catch. I have some very new content in there populating from "Daz Alpha" it seems. It has grabbed some of my custom characters (morphs including files not used on the one scene I have edited and played with while testing ALPHA) and the only saved scene I've worked on while using Daz Alpha. Under DSON cache files, the location points to: C:/Users/"my name"/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/dson/cache. Should it be that way or should it be using C:Users/Public/AppData/Roaming/Daz. I think this might cause more problems. Daz4.24 turns out also using this path, but all of my old "saved scenes" are not at that location, but rather in the "Users > Public > Public Documents > My DAZ 3D Library > Scenes" location. I'm cool with whatever Daz wants to do, but I'd like to know the proper way if possible.
Using DIM, I have found that under "Basic Settings," Content Database Base lists the second path "Users > Public > Public Documents > Daz 3D > InstallManager > Applications > Data > Daz 3D > Content Database. Also "Content Base Path has Users > Public > Public Documents > Daz 3D > My Daz 3D Libarary"
The odd thing is, older DIM content is still visible and accessible (I'm assuming through a mapped folder (terminology?) line within Daz Preferences perhaps. I just want the application to be happy (bless the machine spirits) and maybe It will preform better for me on the machine I'm using until I put together a new one. Also, when I do set up a new machine, I will have a better idea of how to set things up so as to keep that version of Daz happy.
Is there a world in which I can just Copy Paste, from Old to New (I'm assuming that Daz3d prefers the second path(?) without any trouble? Update Metadata required? Or will I be required to re-install DIMs? I have a fair bit of 3rd Party content as well, but those should just be a matter of copy paste AFAIK. I can keep using both, but for the sake of simplicity, I'd rather just have the one "My Library" folders. I presume, if I can pull this off, I can also remove some line in preferences where it points to the first, and older "My Library," as a suplemental "mapped folder," pardon if my jargon isn't quite right.
Am I just asking for a heap of trouble by doing this. It's a bit broken but it works, should I avoid fixing it? Thank you in advance.

Renaming folders in Content Library don't wipe the metadata but just turn the metadata as Orphaned References... (as the white-framed exclamation mark on the thumbnail of files...) and it doesn't remove Userwords in Tag either ~~
So, how did you regenerate the metadata... ?
The folders were sorted by type and gender, so just Edit Metadata... Select All, set Type, Set Category, Set Compatibility, done.
