Richard, I realized just now that I didn't post my query in the righ place. It should have been in the Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.21.1.13! forum. It was late.

When I try a full render, I get the render window with the transparent background and the rendser just stops. If I try ti do a preview with iray in the viewport, the figures turn white as they should and then just stay like that. The non-beta version  4.21.0.5 on the other hand doesn't produce that bug. I installed for comparison and ran the very same items in it without issues. 

What does the last section of Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File say, immediately after rendering?

I have discovered my ancient and unused Bamboo Create from 2012 has only a driver from 2015 and I believe that was so long ago it was still Windows 8. No new drivers specifically for Windows 11. When i start zBrush Core Mini I get a message "Wintab Services Unavailable". I search for that message and it seems that that means everything but the pressure sensitive features of the tablet will work. Of course the pressure sensitive features are exactly what is important in the learning exercise and digital scultpting as to draw everything at the same depth is not really going to look good. I will give it ago over the next couple of weeks anyway just to learn the basics and show the results here for a good laugh. I'll then save up the money in a few months to buy a table like this one:

I kind of like this tablet, despite it's price, because even if I wind up a bum digital sculpting; I can use it to write code with handwriting. Or at least investigate if that's possible. Another thing I want to try is to dicate code to the computer. I can one finger peck type fast enough (my code winds up better because I have longer to think about what I'm typing, and not just the 1st thought that comes to mind), I've done it my whole career, but I feel computer HW/SW should be fast enough and proficient enough to do those two things now.

Hi I have one layer that has been used to do an animation between several Genesis poses but I want to be able to add an independant control for moving the head to look at various things.

I created a new layer and puppeteered (recorded) the head/neck movement but now the character ignores what's on the other layer.

It would be really good if there was some proper documentation on this (I believe there was once upon a time ie. doku.php but it got thrown away years ago) instead of random videos which are hopeless as you cannot search them for content like a web pages.

Begging for help from any old school DAZ users that know how to use Puppeteer properly?

During both rendering and dForcing the surfaces are subdivided; the geometry is cut up into bits and those bits are handled separately.  If the amount of subdivision during a render is greater than during dForce, and sometimes if it is less, the render can end up with the subdivisions intersecting things that dForce would never have permitted.

dForce does not use the render settings.  Go figure.  So far as I can see it uses the "Viewport" settings; go figure!!!  Whatever.  I simply set the "Viewport" SubD (just search for "SubD" in the paramters pain) to the render level.  This takes several minutes of insane compute time but the dForcing I do (I always dForce on the timeline) gives me renders that most of the time are OK.  It also helps to turn off smoothing, or reduce it to 1/1 (experiemnt required for the specific articles) during dForcing.

Hello, old friends!  I'm glad to see the forum is still here and there's lots of awesome work being published.  My "artwork" and inspiration seem to come when I'm at a low point in life and...well, I started up Bryce again and have pushed my nose deep into the software and re-reading old tutorials.  I guess the advantage in being named, Art, is that everything I do is a work of Art, but that doesn't mean it's any good. LOLOL

Horo - I've picked up a few of your products from the Bryce-Tutorials site and really enjoy them.  Unfortunately, I was never very good at putting together landscapes so I don't use them as much, but I'm glad for you and David's resources.

Here's a few things I've been working on...not sure if I remember how to post them, so if I make a mistake, pardon me, please.   Right now, I'm on a torus kick.  It's amazing what you can get out of Bryce with just a Bryce torus.  Bump mapping can really make things look more complex. 

I hope to be more involved again.

I don't think it's trackers - the personal stuff (on-site messages, cart contents - also things like whether the product is purchased, but it draws the defaults anyway so that lack may not be obvious) are obviously not cached while the common page elements are so it's quite possible for most of the page to be done but the top-bar elements to still be working. Clicking to a new page will interupt that, as will a time-out, and then you get the message about the personal data not being current.

For forum slowness and  cloudflare error pages I assume it's lack of capacity on the DAZ servers. 

Also, when checking out I always see some message about an error (can't remember the text now) but I've learned to just count to 20 and usually the checkout process continues.

A while back Chohole explained how to make the forum fonts smaller than "Normal" size after a forum change that eliminated that option from the menu... but I forgot what it was and nothing I tried worked.

 I certainly can make them bigger on the forum and other sites (and have) in Chrome settings but not when typing a post

The top one simply allows you to treat older poses as if they were native G9 ones. The second one allows you to save the converted poses before using them.

I'm glad you stopped by and clarified things. I was going through everything to find where the nonexistent save pose option was - and never found it 

Anyway, I'm quite happy with Pose Convertor. The biggest difference I can see between the two is that Pose Convertor works for both Genesis 3 and Genesis 8/8.1 poses. I think Pose Companion works for only 8/8.1 poses??

Pose Convertor works well for me. If I hadn't already bought Pose Convertor, I'd still probably get it, since it converts both G3 and G8/8.1 poses. You can find more information about both in the PA Commercial Products forum.

I don't actually the understand sale. IIRC, last year it was 50% of everything except new releases. That was easy.

What I expected to see was that I'd go to my wishlist and see some amazing offers. When I look at my wishlist, almost everything is full price / intro discount. I look at the black Friday page expceting to see some products and there is less on it than usual. Something about a punch card which looked complicated and required multiple purchases to get 40% off. In Daz terms, 40% off isn't great.

As a customer, if the deal isn't obvious, I am  not going to spend time working it out. That money that I'd put aside lately for buying stuff is going to be spend elswhere. In previous years, I went to my wishlist, put $200 in the basket (let's give the number) and it was simple. Maybe the idea is you spend more time here and you buy other things? Maybe you have to buy things at full price (?) I don't know. But that's how I feel anyway.
