Product File Sizes?
No, there isn't. I tend to go by the number of texture maps (usually the UV mapping isn't optimized) or compare it to the size of other products the PA, in question, made. As for characters, unless it's some monster, I also avoid buying human characters with "baked-in" HD morphs.
Unlike other users in this forum, I do not want to waste my time with filing a ticket for a refund. I want to buy something useful, to actually use it, and not return it.
How do you use the LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer?Ok, I installed the DIM and was able to install the product through that, but could not find a way to install using the installer that came with it for manual install. I did have to uninstall the Catalyzer from Daz connect and reinstall it using DIM to get it not to crash. I originally was able to install that one with Daz connect, but maybe it wasn't installed correctly? Now wolf 2.0 and fox work! I might pick up the skunk, but I don't see a Catalyzer option for it.
For anyone that finds this post in a search, it does seem it needs to be installed using DIM and the download for zip with the .exe will not work on Windows 10 (as far as I can tell).
Daz Studio 4.21[.0.x] Pro, General Release!I'm experiencing issues using decals now. They are catching light in strange ways now and appear generally lighter than the surrounding surfaces. I am not new to using decals and have tried every adjustment I can think of and have the most recent Nvidia Studio Driver. This is perplexing. It's made using decals virtually impossible without compromising lighting/angles, etc to try to disguise the effect. I have seen only one mention of this in the forum a couple months back with no solutions. Has anyone else encountered this??How do you use the LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer?hmm, it does not ever show where it will be installed. I see only the location for the start menu.
The LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer shows up fine, I just can't find the LAMH player (which I think is required for the Catalyzer)? I think the installer isn't actually installing anything except the uninstall files. I'm doing a search on my computer for anything created today.

In all the years I have been here, I have never participated in a punch sale. Apprently I am not the only one. HINT HINT to Daz Marketing Department.
Daz had 1 or 2 many, many years ago. Most loyal customers - at least those who posted in the forums - didn't like them at all, even though those were clearly explained and actually worked. Daz, having a different customer service philosophy than now, didn't do any more for the longest time. They've had several in the last few years, however, and many customers are even less pleased with the return version, since the wording is confusing and oftentimes they don't work. But Marketing still uses them...
Presumably they actually do work, however little the particular subset of members who post to the forums on the topic may dislike them.
What an easy and unprovable assertion so often used when there is any criticism of DAZ: well the people who post on the forum (especiallly critical posts) are not representative of the customer base at large. Critics are merely a vocal "subset". OK, so it is not a tactic exclusive to the DAZ faithful - it is common in the business world in general and in politics and any other opinion-influencing environment but it is nonetheless questionable.
What is actually being said is "ignore the naysayers, they don't matter". Of course, I will not be at all surprised to see this post deleted.
But if the naysayers were reprsentative the promotions would not be working, would in fact be hurting sales. The amrketing team isn't going to keep doing something that leads to lower sales than not doing it (and there are enough different kinds of promotion that they wold know)
I dare say that if only 30% of customers were drawn into the complicated punch gimmick, DAZ would still be happy with the sales. We can't really say what percentage would more readily buy into a less serpentine, more obvious sale where discounts do not depend on conditional purchases. People who did buy some of the $3.99 grab bag items would clearly be more interested in looking what further discounts are available in the following days but what of those who did not? As for myself - I bought some of the required conditional purchases (because I wanted them, not because I might qualify for punch holes) but was still completely underwhelmed by both the products and the resulting discounts on offer the following day. Now, it is entirely possible that I am somewhow missing all the best discounts but the result is that I spend nothing. How is that good marketing?
How do you use the LAMH 2 Iray Catalyzer?First of all I would say that I have only ever installed these plugins using Daz Install Manager, not the .exe installers. However I think the end result should be the same:
For Catalyzer, did you enter your Serial Number? If not, you can Find it here: https://www.daz3d.com/downloader/customer/serialnumbers
The Catalyzer installer should have placed the following folders/files in your Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio4 wherever that is on your PC:
/docs/Plugins/LAMH2Iray Catalyzer/44935_lamh-2-iray-catalyzer.pdf
/docs/Plugins/LAMH2Iray Catalyzer/catalyzer-popup2.jpg
/docs/Plugins/LAMH2Iray Catalyzer/CatalyzerPane.jpg
/docs/Plugins/LAMH2Iray Catalyzer/LAMH2Iray Catalyzer.dsx
/docs/Plugins/LAMH2Iray Catalyzer/LAMH2IrayCatalyzerInlineHelp.dsx
/docs/Plugins/LAMH2Iray Catalyzer/reigstration.jpg
/plugins/LAMH2IrayCatalyzerAM/LAMH2IrayCatalyzerLogo.png
/plugins/LAMH2IrayCatalyzerPlugin.dllAre they all there?
The corresponding files for LAMH Player are:
/docs/Plugins/LAMH Player/LAMH Player.dsx
/plugins/initialize.dzime
/plugins/lookatmyhairAM/lamh_icon.png
/plugins/lookatmyhairAM/LAMH_Resources.zip
/plugins/lookatmyhairAM/resources/arrow_down.png
/plugins/lookatmyhairAM/resources/arrow_up.png
/plugins/lookatmyhairAM/resources/LAMH resources.zip
/plugins/lookatmyhairAM/resources/logo_icon.png
/plugins/lamhPlayerPlugin.64.dllAre they all there too?
By the way, if you run the .exe installers selecting the "Customize Installation" option, you will get a panel just before the installation starts which shows you exactly where it thinks Daz Studio is located, which may or may not be where yours is.
ETA: It's turned 00:40 here, so I'm about to turn in. I won't be back in the forum for at least 12 hours but if you have any more questions about what I posted then I'll try and drop back tomorrow.

Gogger you have removed, or the forum removed as you posted, most of your attachments so the images are missing (only those with a cached copy will see them).
Thanks, I know. I just re-added them, like FOUR TIMES! Hopefully they stick this time! Can you see them now? They are all there for me after a page refresh. Sorry everyone!Consecutive posts with attachments seem to be an issue, the previous attachments don't get properly cleared and so are lost on making the post. I have found that refreshing after the post, before making the next, usually works.
Thanks for the info - I was momentarily horrified that I would have 27 duplicate partial posts! (YIKES!) But like a monkey at the keyboard I persisted until I got it right. <LOL>

Product File Sizes?Nope... No obvious way... This in my opinion has been a huge issue for ages and I have no idea why that's not considered a basic bit of information... most sites let you know the file size... I have no idea why this was never a consideration.
Edit: actually I might imagining this, but I think back years ago (2012?) when DAZ switched over to a new forum and they redid the store too, I or someone else asked this question again because since they were starting new, why not add that tidbit of knowledge going forward, and the answer was basically "we can't go back and add all that info to every product" or something like that...
But yeah, probably a third of that stuff that was new back then is defunct, not big sellers or gone entirely now, so had they just started adding files sizes to everything new at that point and didn't bother with anything before The Purge, we'd have the benefit of knowing file sizes, which I've been told by my imaginary capybara, is a very helpful thing to know... especially for people who terrible or slow internet... which Kevin (the capybara) insists is actually still a thing in this day and age.
But what the hell does an imaginary capybara know?

What outfit is used in the product ?It's a good idea to try searching for the product name - just use one, distinctive word as the current forum search is not good. Aurelia brings up https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/339366/can-someone-identify-this-clothing-item/p1

I seem to have trouble rendering hair on this version of DS. Somehow, almost no hair will render or prerender, thus blocking a whole render for nothing. I tried reinstalling DS, I tried every render from 517 to the latest.
What happens when you try? Some OOT hairs are known to trigger a crash.
Richard, I realized just now that I didn't post my query in the righ place. It should have been in the Daz Studio Pro BETA - version 4.21.1.13! forum. It was late.
When I try a full render, I get the render window with the transparent background and the rendser just stops. If I try ti do a preview with iray in the viewport, the figures turn white as they should and then just stay like that. The non-beta version 4.21.0.5 on the other hand doesn't produce that bug. I installed for comparison and ran the very same items in it without issues.
What does the last section of Help>Troubleshooting>View Log File say, immediately after rendering?

Thanks. I will save that tutorial. I was planning on using the base "middle of the road" Genesis 9 Base as you did for you most recent head morphs. I will load the Gen 9 Dev Base (that grey one). Should I export if without the eyes & teeth? In Blender those are easy enough to hide, but I have no ideal in zBrush Core Mini.
I have discovered my ancient and unused Bamboo Create from 2012 has only a driver from 2015 and I believe that was so long ago it was still Windows 8. No new drivers specifically for Windows 11. When i start zBrush Core Mini I get a message "Wintab Services Unavailable". I search for that message and it seems that that means everything but the pressure sensitive features of the tablet will work. Of course the pressure sensitive features are exactly what is important in the learning exercise and digital scultpting as to draw everything at the same depth is not really going to look good. I will give it ago over the next couple of weeks anyway just to learn the basics and show the results here for a good laugh. I'll then save up the money in a few months to buy a table like this one:
I kind of like this tablet, despite it's price, because even if I wind up a bum digital sculpting; I can use it to write code with handwriting. Or at least investigate if that's possible. Another thing I want to try is to dicate code to the computer. I can one finger peck type fast enough (my code winds up better because I have longer to think about what I'm typing, and not just the 1st thought that comes to mind), I've done it my whole career, but I feel computer HW/SW should be fast enough and proficient enough to do those two things now.

How do you use/combine puppeteer layers?Hi I have one layer that has been used to do an animation between several Genesis poses but I want to be able to add an independant control for moving the head to look at various things.
I created a new layer and puppeteered (recorded) the head/neck movement but now the character ignores what's on the other layer.
It would be really good if there was some proper documentation on this (I believe there was once upon a time ie. doku.php but it got thrown away years ago) instead of random videos which are hopeless as you cannot search them for content like a web pages.
Begging for help from any old school DAZ users that know how to use Puppeteer properly?
Thanks!

it does have contact with the object and I ask me WHY? I mean... its a static object, dforce does see it, but why does it... ignore it? I saw that problem in many dforce situations and wanna try to find out, what cause this behavior.
During both rendering and dForcing the surfaces are subdivided; the geometry is cut up into bits and those bits are handled separately. If the amount of subdivision during a render is greater than during dForce, and sometimes if it is less, the render can end up with the subdivisions intersecting things that dForce would never have permitted.
dForce does not use the render settings. Go figure. So far as I can see it uses the "Viewport" settings; go figure!!! Whatever. I simply set the "Viewport" SubD (just search for "SubD" in the paramters pain) to the render level. This takes several minutes of insane compute time but the dForcing I do (I always dForce on the timeline) gives me renders that most of the time are OK. It also helps to turn off smoothing, or reduce it to 1/1 (experiemnt required for the specific articles) during dForcing.
Show Us Your Bryce Renders Part 12Hello, old friends! I'm glad to see the forum is still here and there's lots of awesome work being published. My "artwork" and inspiration seem to come when I'm at a low point in life and...well, I started up Bryce again and have pushed my nose deep into the software and re-reading old tutorials. I guess the advantage in being named, Art, is that everything I do is a work of Art, but that doesn't mean it's any good. LOLOL
Horo - I've picked up a few of your products from the Bryce-Tutorials site and really enjoy them. Unfortunately, I was never very good at putting together landscapes so I don't use them as much, but I'm glad for you and David's resources.
Here's a few things I've been working on...not sure if I remember how to post them, so if I make a mistake, pardon me, please.
Right now, I'm on a torus kick. It's amazing what you can get out of Bryce with just a Bryce torus. Bump mapping can really make things look more complex. I hope to be more involved again.
Thanks, Art
