I have not been able to successfully convert any G8 or G8.1 characters to G9, despite multiple attempts. I keep receiving a pop-up message stating:
"Failed to save Morph Asset(s). See the log for more details."
When checking the log, I see:
[WARNING] :: /src/sdksource/fileoutput/dzassetoutfile.cpp(650): Failed to create file path.
[WARNING] :: /src/pluginsource/DzAssetIOFilters/dzmorphsupportassetfilter.cpp(936): Failed to write Morph Asset(s).I am using a Mac laptop with MacOS Ventura 13.4.1. I've attempted to set my output path to both a folder on my network drive as well as one on my local desktop, with the same results.
Happy to provide any additional information or run some more test conversions.
Thanks for any help!
Strange. Are you using the latest version?
I'm on Daz Studio 4.21.0.5. I don't see a version number listed for the character converter when the setup screen pops up, but I installed it using DIM and am current on all available product updates through DIM.
Absolute Shape Keys Don't WorkI am trying to use absolute shape keys on a gen 8 model for an animation. Relative shape keys seems to work just fine but when I try to use absolute shape keys the model refuses to change. This is both in edit mode and sculpt mode. I was thinking it was the restraints on the bones but that didnt fix my problem. Perhaps its something with the Gen 8 morph? I did not mess with the Daz to Blender settings so they should be default. Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing this?

Yes, I have all those shaders, what I need to know is which skin texture is under the shaders.
I need the textures with that makeup and the beauty mark next to the mouth.
Can we have a Genesis 9 male character whose between ages of 21-23?Daz characters have morph dials for a reason, so end user can customize their own character ideas. Just play with the percentages and generate your own unique characters.

I can't get it to work! :(
- I created a new scene
- Loaded Genesis 8 FM
- Loaded a dress
- Applied a pose to frame 20 on a 30 frame timeline
- Started simulation
- Started dForce2Morph
Saving the simulation as a morph works, but the application of the morph doesn't.
At the end it seems out of phase with the character's pose.
I've tried with different clothes and with different types of poses, but the problem is always the same.::::
Daz Studio 4.21.0.5
Figure: Genesis 8 without any morph applied
Dress: Bell Sleeve Shift Dress
Pose: Confident Poses and Expressions for Eva 8 and Genesis 8 Female - I
Can I see the results? The morph on the default posed figure and the morph on the posed figure?

Have to agree on the request in general though. But I must admit, Holden totally went beneath my radar. I suspect because the product page focusses quite heavily on the bodyshapes, which I find too heavily muscled (like sadly 99% of the male figures in store), unrealistic, and therefor totally unappealing. But, the head morphs do actually look useful, so I wishlisted it just now.
I'd really have to disagree on the unrealistic part. That's really a matter of opinion, and you shouldn't use your opinion as fact. As I advertised this is a "Fit, athletic shape" which I used references to create. So if I had a photo reference of a young male with an athletic shape (with thinner legs) and I made a modification on the glutes to make them bigger as a morph additive, that shape cannot be unrealistic because it belonged to an actual young male. I have too many anatomy books and references that I use in my products and it takes a lot of work to get them working on a base genesis figure. That's why my products have so many JCMs added so it bends correctly; QA and I go back and forth to make sure these bends work well for the poses users will throw at it
Also I don't make plain male shapes unless it's for my male teen shapes because those don't sell and you can get those by spinning dials ;)
the cloth to daz and transfer utility appear jagged and cracked, how to fix itYou will need to do some weightmapping after using the transfer utility. Because of the design, (and this is especially true of long sleeves far away from the figure or loose clothing) Daz Studio can only estimate which part of the garment belong to which part of the figure. So with long sleeves like that half of the sleeve will be set to the hips, some to the arm and then when you pose the outfit breaks because the face grouping is incorrect.
There are 3 ways around it - one is to simulate using dforce from a standing pose and a default figure and then transition on a timeline into your pose and shape, the 2nd is to do at least some weightmapping so that when you pose the figure the sleeves move with the arms and not the hips, and the third is to pose your figure and drape in MD and then bring that into DS, but that means you can only use it as a static prop.
I have some tutorials and videos on rigging clothing here, still a WIP but its useable :) : https://pixeldustvr.com/DazTutorials/
Looking at the simulation result - did you turn on smoothing? That will help with the jagged points

Is the dress modelled towards the base character?
The croth issue is seen reguarly, caused by projected morphs, i.e. when dialing another chcaracter (than the base) DS will create a projected morph, that can cause this. Can be corrected by doing a specific morph for that character, or Sickleyield has a morph-pack (at least for G8) that tries to minimize the issue.
Regarding posing, the default weightmap will mose likely be off and need adjustment if you want to use it as conforming. My expectation was that you intended to simulate it.
You're right, when I use basic character production, it's much better. But I found that sharp corners still appear at the seam line. I have set the thickness of the seam line to 0 and the mesh to a quadrilateral in MD, but it still doesn't seem to work. Is there a way to fix this problem?

Blender HD morphs for DAZ StudioSo lets face the reality. At Devision level 0 (at which DAZ alowes customers to make morphs with MORPH LODER PRO... ha ha) all figures look like fitureless plastic dalls. Not good.
At level 1 , which seems to be sort of basic level for DAZ to be shiping the figures, there is more details which accompained by bump and normal maps may make figures look more real...?
HD means level 2 and 3 or higher. Sculpting and morphing at those levels is realy interesting thing to do.
I realy do not understand the logic of prohibiting users from doing morphs at higher sub div levels. To do high res morphing, one needs to be quite fluent in many 3D techniques and i do not see in which way alowing it to general public would diminish DAZ revenues??? A fiew entusiasts perhaps? But even then waht? How many people will sudenly start sculpting own characters?
I think on the contrary, people would start buing more basic chracters to develop them in difrent directions. This would bring real diversity to so called DAZ lkook. Deviant art and other places are packed with this look and it is just boring.
I strongly belive DAZ is catting itself out form the market for artistic creators, modeling enthusiasts and other profesionals.
You are running behind e.g. Metahuman and all new AI driven human modeling apps to come soon. DAZ started long ego pioneering this technoilogy but those days are gone...

I'm excited about Oso Cat, but there doesn't appear to be a digitigrade morph, at least based on the promos. I haven't drilled into the item details.
yeah I like paws and cat legs too
3/4 Fingers and Toe MorphsI been looking for a 3 or 4 finger and toe morphs for Genesis 9.
There are so many alien characters with normal 5 fingers, and it would be more Alien to have 3 or 4.
It would be awesome to actually have a 3/4 Finger/Toe morph for G9.I been using @DarioFish "Ultimate Shapes" for G8 to use the finger and toe morphs, so I don't know if there is any hope for G9 morph set?
There is some cool shapes that would be cool for G9 too.

Problem With Hair HELP..Hi guys,
I just bought those hair here : https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-pitt-bull-hair-for-genesis-3-8-and-81-males but they look nothing like the pormos... The ''Brown'' color looks gray. The 2 hair strands are definitely not as thick as on the pictures and the overall hair are also so thin we can literally see through them.... The character looks horrible... I played with every single morph options and nothing change that... I don't understand... Can someone help me make the hair look like they should? :(
Here an example of what it looks like:
[Released] ManFriday’s Figure Converter for Genesis 9 [Commercial]Just checking in to say that with limited testing - two figures so far - I'm very happy with this product. I converted a G8.1 M with no problem at all; a G8.1 F just needed the "Adjust rigging" step done and seems OK. My characters are a hodgepodge of Face Transfer shapes and assorted morphs. Previously, I had been doing some testing with converting G8.1 FT characters to G9 via a long, complicated series of steps and this turns it into a breeze.
Julius 9Julius 9 mixed with Freja. 40% Freja/60% Julius - specifically the Julius Young Adult morph. Not bad ;). The skin is Freja's too as is the HD. I did angle her eyes up about 50% because the Julius morph pulled the outer corners down.
[Please Delete] Tech Spt Ticket Opened - Morph Error & DIM SyncWhat got messed up here? Moving upper arm towards torso on G8.x Female smushes the ribcage. Arm towards torso on G8.x Male does *not* smush the ribcage. 0_o
Tried uninstall/reinstall Genesis 8 Essentials -- same mesh deformity.
Messes up with G8 in DS 4.10 and G8.1 in DS 4.21
Tried copying "Currently Used" morphs from an old backup from 2021. Made no difference. : /
Known issue? Ideas? Hopefully can get some suggestions at forum before tech spt. ticket.
Edit: Attempt to attach file to DAZ. javascript Void 0 error in FireFox for Windows 10. Unknown Error, IPad OS 16]
Using remote site, Imgur until workaround or DAZ servers less busy...=========
Edit & Update:
Now a hopefully easier question.
A safe way to get DIM to recognize products that are already installed in the first path listed? The 'repair' reinstall of DS is under the second path showing as "Custom"
In DS itself, CMS needs that second directory-- otherwise continued mesh distortion oddity.
Hope that makes sense. Been at this for a while. ; )
PS: Attaching files still known issue, or problem on my end?
