Animated Dynamic Clothing Technique (proof of concept)

Great work, Dart! Good to see you are still in the game. And I know, I haven't posted on a Carrara forum for AGES, but I still use our beloved program most days, mostly making stuff for DS.
Thanks! I go through long periods when I'm too focused on too many things to be able to browse the internet, but I'm Always in the game! :)
I took a look at your store when I got back and, Wow! Phil's been a busy boy!!!
I still (and always will) have my acoustic drums - love 'em - but for our shows I'm now playing a rather nice electronic kit using professional techniques and sounds so that our entire band can go 'in-ear' with an entirely silent stage. So we pump a few monitors onto the stage so it doesn't feel weird to folks that approach.
Anyhow, this gives our sound tech immense power to perfect the sound for whatever venue we're playing, and people love it so much that we've been just packed, show after show. Which, of course, means that our calendar fills up nicely! It's such a blast!
During the pandemic lock-down our city helped fund a new studio from which we can live-stream shows (for us and all other bands). A construction company had to run one of those massive pile drivers outside the studio for a time. My singer (studio owner) explained to them that this is a recording studio that cannot operate with that much noise. They had a deadline so they were working long hours. The company gave him a check with an awful lot of digits!
So our audio visual studio is amazing! Over 30Gs just in lights alone!
I'm getting more and more crippled (right foot) but my little dog, Chicha keeps me active. I'm amazed that it doesn't seem to affect my drumming. I mean... I pound those pedals with my feet! Live for four hours... just can't help but give it all I've got.
Anyway, I think it's time for you to fly to Wisconsin so we can jam!

Ok going to have a look and let you know what I find.
@Richard Please move this back to the blender forum since it's for diffeomorphic, I wasn't able to find it anymore after you moved it here.
Ok so i tried switching the Zola hair to base, changing to regular DAZ uber shader to each hair section and still getting the multi mesh.

Agreed. I'm seeing that the Hide items I own as well as the MAture cotnent flags don't seem to be consistently doing what they say they are on the search results.
Is your avatar from a coming Genesis 9 toon product?

Windows 11 working OK for you?I found a setting in Windows 11 professional where you can delay updates for up to 5 weeks.
Not sure if this is true for all PCs, but Dell has a setting in the BIOS called UEFI Capsule Firmware Updates, If you disable this, that is suppose to stop automatic BIOS updates. But people on the Dell forum say that it doesn't always work. They say their PCs still updated even with the setting turned off.
farewell carraraThank you Dartan I hope, as you do, that it will continue. There really are a lot of people who use Carrar and Bryce simply because they've learned the basics and will continue to use this for as long as possible. My opinion on this is simply that we should try to create the highest quality images here and show that it is possible. If there is interest from newcomers or users coming back. it was very similar for me. First Bryce, then Carrara, then lost interest simply because I couldn't take the chances. Eventually I found your Woodland preset. It clarified a lot of how and why something is done, then Lightdooms etc. Suddenly I had a real vibe. Then the hobby of photography helped me with the knowledge of light and shadow as well as image composition. Everything together led to the restart in Carrara, the results are impressive. Then there's the forum and everyone who's still developing plugins, which also gives some hope for the future. Because there are enough ideas and potential.
Tiger and leopard for FelidaeOr even a Maine Coon cat... ;)
It appears Main Coons are so much like lions that one was actually mistaken for an escaped lion in 2012 in Essex to the NE of London, UK - from this National Newspaper article: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2193984/Essex-Lion-picture-revealed-police-search-admit-probably-large-domestic-cat.html (full of ads, sorry).

Richard

I pinned and made the thread an announcement for you
@frank0314, there is already another pinned announcement thread. We didn't need a second one. It just causes confusion. The other one was started first. I suggest this be merged into that one.
The other one is not focussed on the PA freebies and is in the Freebies forum.
OK, thanks for the clarification. I was clearly confused by the two of them and didn't see a difference.

Ok, thanks, maybe they are just running late this year. I hope that they do one, I've gotten a lot of really cool stuff from it before!
At DAZ Studio forum on Rendo, there is a thread for it, but the link leads to 404
farewell carraraI often forget that English isn't your native tongue. Sometimes its fairly obvious, other times (like what you just said above) it's better than a lot of English speaking folk.
I'm very glad that you're here, doing what you do. You have an Excellent eye for your art. You also contribute really well with the community!
I completely agree about the control thing. That's one of my favorite things about Carrara. I mean, it not only gives the control, but the controls are right there, easy to use, and even better... they Work!
I know that there's a market for this software and for Bryce. The forum is one thing, but there are so many more people that don't even use forums, but have and use Carrara. My brother is an amazing engineer and his company sends work to a small animation shop to make videos for their presentations. He (my bro) thought that it looked a lot like the stuff I do, so he brought one home and showed it to me. I asked if they use Carrara. After asking the company, they confirmed it. It's such a magical suite of 3D tools and nothing else is quite like it, since they added support for Poser/Daz 3d figures, props, poses... the whole nine yards.
I know I'm crazy, butI'm still optimistic. I have this crazy gut feeling that some day Daz 3d is going to put Bryce and Carrara back into development. All I can say is, keep asking for it in surveys and polls!

My entry was a majestic mammoth.
Much appreciation to the good people in the Bryce forum who keep that gem of a program alive and thriving.
How do I import an underlay imageI'm looking to import a 2d underlay background image into daz to use as a refrence guide for posing a figure. After spending way too much time trying to find information on how this is done with no luck, I figured it'd probably be faster to ask the forum. Can someone either show me where to find the tutorial on this or walk me through how it's done?
Thanks

Recommended listening: The Crypto Story by Bloomberg's Matt LevineNo, the room's not empty... I was hiding in that crate of used sweat socks... I don't really reply to anything in this forum anymore because it usually goes poof...
I'm wondering if there is a particular section or episode that's more relevant to the "something behind the smoke and mirrors" part... At this point I don't think there is much more for me to learn about crypto that would change my (non-positive) opinion... but if it's a particular thing I could go to, I'd be interested, at least to see if it's something I'm not already aware of... at three or more hours it's a little long to sit through if it's all the same stuff.
I don't really think crypto has any great redeeming qualities, "blockchain" perhaps for other uses, but not whatever this incarnation of crypto has become.I'll leave it at that, as I don't think there was anything controversial in that statement.
No one asked me - Diomede screenshots on whatever - Warning AI Discussion OKModeling for a Targeted Shape of Genesis 9 - Marvelous Designer
I posted another screenshot tutorial in the Art Studio Forum. Before the release of Genesis 9, I went through an example of creating a skirt for Genesis 1 because G9 was rumored to be like G1 in a unified shape. Rumour turned out to be true. In this screenshot turoial, I use Marvelous Designer to create a simple loose skirt with many folds designed for the Victoria 9 shape. The resulting figure might be optimized for Victoria 9, but it can also be used with any G9 shape, such as a kilt for Michael 9, or a battle dress for a male demon. The tutorial also includes creating shader domains and UV Mapping in Marvelous Designer. I then export the OBJ to Studio where I rig from the V9 shape back to the base shape. Demonstrate a couple DForce posing and morph shape examples.
Might be useful for Carrara users intending to make G9 items for use in Carrara as conformers or with VWD.

Day 1 - Outdoor OvenI search all over for this Day 1, even under communities featured. Only to find it under the normal freebies posted yesterday already.
I thought it was Rendo's Christmas freebies but see now it's the creator's own Christmas freebies.
