We used to call some people celebrities but now they're "Influencers!"
We used to call people who made things hobbyists if they were just tinkering around for their own enjoyment, or craftsman (or maybe a trade specific name) or even artist but now they're "Makers!"
Now we have people describing (usually loosely) what they want. It may sound like hiring an artist for commissioned work or doing a Goodle search as someone suggested earlier in this thread. However, following this trend of ego stroking I suggest we call them "Imaginators!"
"Don't let people who actually did the work take credit for something you Imaginator'd!!"
Hopefully copyrighting "prompts" wouldn't hold up in court but stranger things have happened. Funny thing is even if it did it would just protect the bunch of words fed into the AI/ML image generator and not the image that pooped out.
Edited to fix a typo and add:
I enjoy watching some youtube videos about people making dioramas and doing other craft-type stuff. There's a few who use toys or models or scenery stuff like fake trees, fake grass, etc, add some lighting, etc and create some really cool things. It doesn't matter that they're using purchased props for at least part of the work. It's still very impressive and enjoyable.

I'm not looking for the hyper realistic, though I'd love to be able to do that, but for what it costs, I'd at least like it to look close to what I was meaning to buy.Holiday Giveaways 2022!barbult said:

Turbosquid has 2 pages free Christmas models too. We can't put links in here {because pages also have commercial items}.
They have wreaths, trees, socks for the fireplace, red hats, snowmen [and one that is very unfriendly looking with big black eyes and a stitched smile, and another one that looks like golf balls instead of snow], a Choco Santa Claus 6 {as in looks like a chocolate food item}, Gingerbread Cookies, a beautiful gold fashion cross pendant, etc.
Can you at least give a hint on how to find it? It's not listed anywhere on Turbosquid's front page and the first several pages on a google search only give links to marginally relevant "searches" for Christmas items on Turbosquid. I can find the item page for "Choco Santa Claus 6" but searching for other pages with a link to that page only gives one single "avent" page with only that one item on it.
Sign in first, then search for "Christmas" - then go to price and select 'free' ...
Freebies that are available year round don't really qualify as limited "holiday giveaways"
I've never heard someone complain that freebies were available for too long!

That's not what I said... I've been here for years, and every "holiday giveaways" thread was about givaways that were only available duiring the holidays. If someone wants to have different rules this year, that's fine.
It may be that putting a models in a group "kills" the shells (4.21 with Win 10)It may be that putting a models in a group "kills" the shells (4.21 with Win 10). I'm not sure but I can't find anything else which I did when the shells disappeared. And they did disappeared in *very* special way - they remained in the Scenes tab but were actually missing - when selected nothing appeared in the Surfaces tab and the effects from them were missing too (that's why I started to search for a problem).
(I have to remake a lot of scenes so cannot spare a time to confirm if it's correct or the reason is something else).
Edit: If someone really wants to try it - I forgot to write not just putting models with shells into a group but also exporting the group as a subset and then importing it into a scene (and there were two models into the group)
No thread on Michael 9. Really?Makes it easier to pretend the customer base is happy with whatever is released. Any time, and I mean any time, someone does not like these downgrades, there's a certain person I am definitely not criticising(as that's against the forum rules) right on cue, telling them that they're wrong.
Weird search results - please donateIn addition to the weird search results, I've noticed for sometime now that the "Hide Items I Own" has been excluding items I DON'T OWN. This has happened several times when I have searched the daily sales offers. I now turn off the "Hide Items I Own." Bests.

Will Daz studio 5 finally bes see the light of the day on Linux? I know that not many use it on Linux, but there are those who do through Wine or Lutris. Got Dforce running and everything. It's high time for that type of update. You'd see a lot of new users that way. Also, how about optimising the program, making it more stable. So it has less crashes and is able to perform smoothly on older rigs. Even if I had this years latest rig I'd still woulkd have liked for it to be able to not hog the resources so much. It's a postive that you will let us to keep DS4 . Given how each old version has been taken down as new one comes that's terrific news. That's what I applaud the team for it.
Daz is still stuck in the dark ages where Linux is concerend
...wouldn't mind having a third alternative. Sadly Linux has too multiple distros which is where the issue is. You please one group and the others will gripe.
Wish that wasn't so as it would be nice to have user control again.
True however a search of the most popular distros shows that the most popular are debian based, so a debian based version should cover a large portion of the most popular ones
Award for stupid problemMy search content does not work, (separate problem)....crashes system
Have 35 Runtimes
To find an item have to open each runtime... go to section etc
At the end have many runtimes open....which stay like that.
So.
How Do I collapse all of them when done!

Well I decided to try out G9 even though I am still using DS 4,15 and for the most part, I see no issues although I know I am missing some DS functionality based on other forum posts. Looks like it's time to maybe think about installing the latest DS,. LOL
My recommendation would be to install the Beta version and then you can use them both side by side. I use 4.15 too and the latest Beta of 4.20 and move between them There are some old scenes that don't render in the Beta for some reason that I haven't tracked down as I just open them in 4.15 where they do work :) Just make sure not to download the full 4.20 by mistake or it will delete the 4.15 version.
Thanks. Yeah, I am contemplating that. I wanted to do this with 4.15 and somehow it overwrote my 4.12 install, so I am very wary these days. Wish me luck! LOL
Here is another quick G9 in 4.15 with an Xmas theme, LOL
Carolers? You are right there doesn't seem to be anything in the store like these mid-victorian bonnets, if that is what you are thinking of?
But you might consider some other options though.
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-winter-splendor-outfit-for-genesis-8-females - its texture set is below, but you could expand it with shaders. Maybe the shoes from https://www.daz3d.com/mid-victorian-outfit-for-genesis-8-female-s ?
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-winter-splendor-outfit-texture-add-on
https://www.daz3d.com/winter-fantasy-for-genesis-3-females there is a G2F version as well.
https://www.daz3d.com/sensibility-expansion-2-for-genesis-2-females - this had the only bonnet I could find. But with shaders and bits of holly and flower props, you could dress it up?
https://www.daz3d.com/the-victorian-gown-for-genesis-2-female-s and team it up with a cloak and bonnet?
This was just a quick search in my runtime with 'Victorian' and 'Christmas'. I also bought the 'A Christmas Mega Bundle' in 2021 which is no longer in the store unfortunately but had a group of items you could use.
The I Miss the Old Days Complaint Threadkyoto kid said:
...a Question of Balance?
Non-complaint: Moody Blues.
One of the very few rock groups from the 60s & 70s that I actually heard live when they were at their peak.
Also, one of the only groups who enunciated well enough for me to understand the words and one of only two groups who's lyrics resonated with my brain (Simon & Garfunkel were the other). I had no interest in the tales of misery and spousal infidelity expounded upon by Country Western Music, nor the nuvo-adolescent mush from the pre-Beatles era. Nor the hard rock that came after. The Moody Blues were my introduction to the bigger picture; philosophy, spirituality, and cosmology illuminated by beautiful music. And they also have a few just simply happy songs too, as in the song belowFrom one of their early albums. "Nice To Be Here" from "Every Good Boy Deserves Favor".
Unfortunately, their earlier songs ("Be Now") and later albums wandered too far into the adolescent mush or rhythmic noise & mental fodder arena. So, I keep going back to the "great 8" especially the ones that included the Mellotron instrument that helped give them the big orchestral sound. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mellotron
The great eight early Moody Blues albums: (and to be honest, number eight ain't that great)

1) "Days Of Future Passed"
2) "In Search Of The Lost Chord"
3) "On The Threshold Of A Dream"
4) "To Our Children's Children's Children"
5) "A Question Of Balance"
6) "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour"
7) "Seventh Sojourn"
8) "Octave"
But here's a song from one of my rare, favorite Moody's sub-group albums titled "Blue Jays" put out by two Moody's members in 1975, i.e. Justin Hayword and John Lodge (the two "J"s from the Moody Blues, get it?
). Listen to "NIghts, Winters, Years". (very orchestral)

Thanks Barbult! Genesis 8.1 Female Vellus Hair came bundled with Victoria 8.1. When I went looking for a product page and instructions, it said Oops! Page Not Found. I stupidly stumbled upon this thread not even realizing it was a separate product. Small wonder the instructions were not helping.
Given all that, do you know where I would look for instructions for Genesis 8.1 Female Vellus Hair? In DIM the Information link also says Oops! Page not Found. On the order page it says this:
This is meant to be distributed with every pro bundle like the anatomical elements are.
Vellus hair page does not go live

2022 Christmas at DAZ & PA GiftsFor those of you that want your own creepy loved one picture in your locket I would suggest that you read redeyecat's blog post, here DIY Spooky Photos | RedEyeCat (wordpress.com). She got some of her pictures from this link here:Search Results: "" - Prints & Photographs Online Catalog (Library of Congress) (loc.gov).
I particularly like Miss Emma: [Emma Gillingham Bostwick, half-length portrait of a woman, three-quarters to left, facing three-quarters to right] (loc.gov). With redeyecat's direction she would be one creepy image. Happy Holidays everyone!
No one asked me - Diomede screenshots on whatever - Warning AI Discussion OKThanks, folks. Some good and some bad with Genesis 9. I am making some progress, but am also seeing some significant challenges. From time to time, the joints seem to go yucky. By yucky, I mean the kinds of imperfections that I put up with in my silly claymation-style figures because I am not going for realism. Scooped armpits. Distended elbows and knees. The kinds of things that a premium figure's wieghtmapping and JCMs should be correcting by default. Have not found a pattern yet. At first, I thought it might be because Carrara relies on blended weight so must lose something in the translation, right? But I have noticed it in Daz Studio as well. Have heard complaints in the Commons Forum which makes me believe it is not limited to Carrara. If anyone notices a pattern or has insights, please share.
