Anyone ever try the various Gen 3 morphs to add more to the base characters? - I mean aging morphs and such.....

I have seen people do things like 50% Star and 50% Victoria 7 (for example) to get a more realistic toon look

Uh, you are aware you can alter V4's features to look frightening, providing you have one or more face morph sets (either free or for purchase), don't you?  The merchant of that item just focused purely upon the conforming body parts, allowing the end user to choose the facial details he or she wants.

It's kind of interesting to see the complaints about her age and... well... realism.  And I get that.  But I'll bet you the more realistic figures sell like fekkin' hot cakes. 
I hadn't set digital foot in DAZ' shop to buy anything remotely human for ages, and hadn't really opened Studio more than a time or two, until I saw these figures. I was buying the new (well, to me) dragon for a client image, and I saw "LI Incandescent - Portrait Lighting for Iray" and I was stunned dead in my tracks. Wait, what?? Photoreal? Tiny little wisps of hair? WRINKLES!?! Has that model actually got little crows' feet!?! OMG, when did Victoria grow up?
And suddenly, bam! - just when I thought I was out, they Pulled. Me. Back. In.  I'd have to check my purchases history, but I don't think I'd actually bought a figure in... a decade? More?  And then, last year, I bought several. And I'm buying Sydney, for sure. Yes, I'd be a lot happier if they either all came or all didn't come with the HD add-on included, but hell yes, I'm buying it. 
And, I'm now interested enough in the software and market to be interested in making content, so I've purchased a busload of tutorials, as well.  Don't misunderstand - I have a lot of relevant skills and experience, but I'm also busy, out of date or new on a lot of it, and over-extended, and adult ADD as heck (which, to be fair, is good as often as it's bad, for my art) so I may never submit anything, and I may not ever have anything I submit accepted, but that's not the point.  
The point is these, older, more wrinkly, more realistic, and - to me - far, far, far more intersting and useful figures have, directly and indirectly, got them four figures in sales and a possible consignment partner, and that's just one person.  I think they're probably doing just fine with 'em, and I expect we'll see a lot more. 
And this pleases me, greatly. :)

I like her a lot, but if I end up getting her (depends whether we'll get better offers tomorrow, like it's happened at least once before), I'll have her ditch the rocker-biker look, and be Victoria's young-at-heart mom instead.

I am ready for G9 release next year. Can't wait. Seriousley, with all these "please don't upgrade, because I've spent so much money for it" you will end up in this Victoria 4/Poser trap, that allmost killed Poser. I do like it, how DAZ does it.

The "trap" as you call it, is all of DAZ's making to ensure profits. There is very little difference between Genesis 3 and 8 DESPITE the ludicrous number jump. Genesis was a major step forward. Genesis 2 was okay, Genesis 3 was needed, I feel and although they have there reasons to change the figure setup, I don't think the advancement was enough to warrant a whole new figure but.... salaries have to be paid.

IMHO Daz did not "trap" poser users into clinging to an eleven year old figure
Daz continued to move forward with G-1,2,3 etc and provided a FREE Posing and rendering application to enable people to move forward with them.

Some people chose to continue to pay another company for software  that did not support the improving Daz figures
and did not offer native figures that most of their users& vendors felt compelled to support with clothing and other content.

IMHO Daz does not "trap" people into buying the latest genesis figure content as Studio still supports Genesis version 1.

The Daz PA's move on to the latest version and eventually drop support for the older ones.

Anyone who does not wish to move on with the Daz  PA's have a simple choice.
Accept that you wont see any new content for your older figures
 
or learn to model your own content and support whatever generation you prefer.

..but any of the multi-control sliders don't - ie to close the eyes I have to move each eye separately the one to do both at the same time doesn't nor do any of the other multi-sliders like the one to change the features to Afraid or Angry - I have to find each feature and do it myself. Any more brilliant ideas, please

This is the first I've heard of this stuff.

Really? I've been using V4.2 in Carrara for years and all morphs work as expected. Strange. 

Back in the day, we had to load (and this only had to be done once - period) Victoria 4 into Daz Studio and, when doing so, select everything in the Powerloader, then click Okay. I don't even think she needs to be saved. It just fixed a problem where saving morphed V4 would result in morphs not working when reopened (in Carrara).

So for that, we'd just need to

1. Make sure we have Victoria 4 Power Loader installed
2. Open DS, load V4
3. Power Loader pops up automatically at that point
4. Select everything
5. Okay

 

it was broken later in the DIM files and morphs ++ does it

I broke it again recently adding new morphs and fixed it using my old Figures, Characters and avatars DVD files

I did put in a support ticket but it was deemed solved as I never managed to track down what file exactly is broken in DIM, it affects Poser too

nice blinks, timing blink rates a tricky bsiness, patience (sings guns n roses)

Well, I am surprised, but this is not a procedure I am familiar with - but I'm glad it works.

I don't think I will be able to provide the UVs for the regular G3F geografts because I made a lot of changes during their initial development, as they were the first ones I did, and it would be too much work to unpick it all and create a workable UV Set.

...yeah I got turned off by all the "Sexy Victoria" tutorials I kept getting emails about.  Still love the original Light Dome Pro and Light Dome Pro2 though.  Wish the later versions were still a generic lightset/skydome plugin that worked entirely within Daz instead of making it a layered system that required postwork in a 2D programme.

As for Iray there are a number of really good HDRIs available.  The best in my book are the IBL Skies series by Denki Gaka (I purchased the entire Perfect Skies bundle).  They work in either Iray or 3DL.

So How Does One actually Find Those darn 'Valid New Releases'  mentioned in the "Weekend Blowout Michael 4 and Victoria 4"sale on the main shop page ?

I can't find any way to view 'New Releases' (although in the past when I've had zero interest in them they were always in my face !)

The Lydia character for Victoria 7 looks really nice! I haven't tried rendering or gone through all of the possible character options/combinations yet, but one small thing I noticed for one of the Lydias when experimenting with some of the options:

Actor Loaded: Lydia 01(non HD)

Materials --> Iray --> Feminine --> Lydia HD for Victoria 7 --> Eyelashes: Lydia Lashes 02  -When using this option, the upper right eye lash and the lower left eye lash appear to be out of position on the Z-axis going in the + direction from the eyelids. Lydia Lashes 01 -After applying, appears slightly out of position only on the lower left eye lash, Z-axis + direction from lower eyelid. Lydia Lashes 03 appear to work fine.

Last generation, maelwenn released Lydia HD 3 days! before Victoria 8 came out. And now, having sold almost her entire store to Daz Originals, she releases Evelyn and Lynn HD under her own label with possibly 5 months before the next generation's expected arrival.

I conjectured that she is one of the nameless artists creating Daz Core characters. But if that is so, then why are her own characters superior (in morph and skin realism/detail) to the majority of Daz Core females (and arguably equal to the rest)? 

That topic may be verboten on this forum; thus, I will leave it there, and instead give a hearty round of applause, slobbering fanboy/girl thanks, big ups, and 50% of $14.67 to Maelwenn, Maelwenn, Maelwenn, Maelwenn! Evelyn and Lynn (which at first glance of the thumbnail I mistook for a Mousso girl---could be the hair) also include facial micro hairs so I don't have to use ThePhilosopher's Peach Fuzz! on every CU.
