  • Problem with installing the latest version of HeadShot

thanks for the workspaces comment. To get it to show for me, I had to go into Window->Workspace->Customize.  Then under the Actions tab on the left, open up the Edit tree and find "Start Headshop...". On the right side, switch to the Menus tab and then open up the Main Menu tree, then Edit tree. Now drag the "Start Headshop..." from the actions over to the Edit Menu tree on the right. Click Accept and you should see it on the Edit Menu Now. Don't forget to save your workspace.

Hope that helps. Not sure why they don't include information like that in their install PDF.

  • No Need to Buy HairShop Separately, It is Included in HeadShop 9! (Commercial)

Just to give more information, I am using a macbook pro, my system is macOS High Sierra version 10.13.3. My dazstudio is Version 4.10.0.123 Pro Edition (64-bit).

The locations of my headshop files are shown in the pictures. Essentially, I tried csrutil disabling, but my headshop still gives the same error: "Headshop closed before nessecary files could be created"

  • No Need to Buy HairShop Separately, It is Included in HeadShop 9! (Commercial)

I have all the files in the right place for headshop 9.2. When I ran the command as according to the installation manual, I got a different message, and I was not even prompted for my password, but at least in the end the terminal gave me a message that the process is completed. I thought to myself maybe it was because I have csrutil disabled before when I tried to install something else, but I never turned it on again. When I ran my headshop I got the message "headshop 9.2 closes before files can be created", so I tried going into safe mode and disable csrutil again, but to no avail, when my mac is rebooted, I still got the same error message... I feel so bad now, there doesn't seem to be many posts out there explaining how to resolve this error, can someone please help me? >_<

  • Celebrity model test. Guess who.

    I'll guess Emma Watson.

    Yep!

I'm glad it looks enough like her that people were able to guess. :D

Now. Does anyone have any tips fro what I can change or tweak?

Eyeliner seems overly aggressive, and eyeshape seems off, although if you are using facegen or headshop as part of your figure morphing process there's only a limited amount to be done with the eyes.

Thanks for the advice. I'm actually not using Facegen or anything like that. Just morphs. I'll have a close look at the eyes though.

  • Facegen or headshop kids modelling

If you are doing toons then FaceGen or Headshop won't be a huge help except getting that 1st step if you want to caricature someone to be a toon. I have both the latest FaceGen & Headshop & FaceGen is much better but you need decent source portraits that aren't too brightly lit or post processed for either of them.

For children FaceGen does say in their product description or faq at their website that FaceGen isn't that great at doing children's faces. I've never tried to do children's faces but you can be pretty sure Singular Inversions have tried that, to say that. At any rate you can go to Singular Inversion's website and download their FaceGen demo and try for yourself.

    Can anybody help me?

Do I need to say I'm not good at modelling? I'm not good at modelling. ;-)

    Thank you very much,

  • Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 11

Facegen gets so much shade, but it is so much better than Headshop - and the deal is this... the minute you put an expression on the face, you're going to see the likeness start to disolve, because while it can get a neutral surface impression from a picture, it can't figure out the underlying musculatur, skull and teeth structure, and just personality.
It does a very good job, overall.

Agreed with you there. Never could get Headshop to even work, whereas Facegen produces reasonably good results if you have a decent photo to work with and plant your reference points carefully. Adam Driver, Michael Caine, George Washington (from a marble bust), Random Italian Female Starlet nobody's heard of...I've had pretty good luck with it. I'm just saying that when I want to do, say, Lee Van Cleef or Topol, some additional nose dialing gets done in DS after I'm finished in Facegen.

  • runtime folders

    Hi all,

I've been using Headshop for a while and then installed Daz 4.10. Now, when I try to run Headshop, it fails telling me that the character doesn't have a valid runtime folder. Could someone explain what this might mean and what I might have to do to fix this? I'm trying to use it with a Gen2 character.

    Thanks in advance,

    G

  • "Get Them While You Can!" If Not… Well… "There's Always Another Sale™"

I REALLY like today's sale. I woke up expecting Day 3 of the Fantasy theme, but instead was presented with an opportunity to get the Gen 8 Pro packs that I didn't have, coming late to the party, at a very reasonable price. So, for me, it couldn't have been better :-)

You had me excited until I noticed that Edward 8 wasn't included... he's a bit newer, and the newer 8 pro bundles aren't included, but I was hoping.

I would have picked him up also. as is, not much in there I need or want, but I do appreciate the sale. It's funny how headshop is in the sale, but facegen isn't. To bad as I might of picked up facegen for 65% off, oh well.

  • Who's the Best Avatar Creator?

Obviously we sell a lot of characters here at Daz, but when things really get exciting is when you mix characters or morphs to create your own unique vision.  A lot of people even take a little different spin on that and merge elements of the world into their avatars by importing models and textures with products like FaceGen or Headshop.

So, who is your "Avatar", and what is their backstory?

We'll share some of the top one's to the Daz 3D Facebook page as well.

So, you see the characters we produce every day.  Let's see yours :)

Haha! Damn good back story though. cheeky

  • Creating a realistic Face from stock photos in 3D

As the developers of FaceShop and HeadShop we have 12 years of history with photo-to-3D software for Poser and DAZ. I agree with JMC that the biggest challenge is to get a good quality, well lit picture. One additional challenge is that very seldom is a portrait "full frontal", which means that the head is turned left or right, up or down. This problem bewilders photo-to-3D software, as is the issue of presenting open smile.

I am happy to report that we are getting close to the beta stage of HeadShop 11, which I consider a real breakthrough in a few respects; HeadShop 11 will:

    1. Unlike competing software where you have to manually pick eyes, nose, chin, mouth etc (about 22 points in toto), HS 11 will automatically find all points without the user picking a single point.

    2. We have also mastered the open smile issue, with real teeth derived from Genesis figures showing. Again, it is something the competition can't presently do.

    3. Most importantly, HS 11 will master the turning head problem and turn (pun intended) a bad problem into an asset. We will actually have better shape similarity with turned heads as with straight "full frontal" photos. It is an industry first!

    4. HS 11 will also address way better texture mapping, an area where we lagged behind the competition. No more!

Please stay tuned, we will need knowledgeable users for beta testing soon!!!

And, just teasing, but for HeadShop 12 you can go ahead and make SW that is accurate for all expressions and erases the expressions for a no expression while allowing the expressions to be converted to face rig targets.

    That's the goal:-)

    Cool! I will upgrade.

Not directly. Apple is to blame - they make it all but impossible to develop outside their "walled garden" appstore. It is possible that we will release a cloud version, which of course will be platform neutral (work on all platforms). We already have a cloud app called PrintAhead (printahead.net) that is platform independent and free to use.

Ps. PrintAhead already uses the open-smile code and handles open-smile heads quite well.

That's nice but will the open smile also be accurate with no smile?

I will beta test if possible.  I remember beta testing, I think it was FaceShop over a decade ago. It was quite fun back then  How time flies.
