  • [Released] RSSY Clothing Converter from Victoria 4 to Genesis 8 Female [Commercial]

    Ok, I have found the way to convert the clothes from 3D-Age.

    Just uncheck the first option in the settings of the converter - "Check file type" or something and then "Force Convert".

    Below is an iray render of Victoria 8 wearing clothes from Office Suit IV by 3D-Age.

    Thank you for the list! Helps see things in perspective. It seems releasing a 3rd character in the same month will be unlikely. I just hope that whenever they release Gianni, that it will be unique from all other figures, with great deals and that it won't dissapoint. Here's hoping (fingers crossed).

  • New Smith Micro "La Femme" base figure for Poser at Rendo

    Can someone tell/show us how La Femme bends, please?  How is she rigged - Weight Mapped or like Victoria 4 and earlier?  Is she "better than" Dawn or V4 Weight Mapped?

    I don't think it would be too difficult to make a G8 clone of her.  I may make a $3.50 purchase from Rendo, so I can give it a try.

    Thanks for the list!
    It is interesting to note that since August 2018, Daz provides each month with 2 new figures: 1 male and 1 female. I hope Daz continues this way.
    I hope Gianni is the next male figure.
    He is always my favorite in all generations.

  • Anybody still use the older Genesis figures?

    Just asking out of curiosity. I really want to use Victoria 4.2 because of a morph that is made for it but was still wondering if these older characters like Genesis and Genesis 2 are used these days.

    And would love to hear your thoughts on them in general - as well as using them with iray- is it better to use 3DL with these older figures due to their skin textures being made for it or is a skin texture converter to iray script a better choice?

    Thanks

    Any older, pre GF3 figures I like, I just transfer the morphs using GenX and then use them on the newer figures. I stopped using non Iray skins since I never use 3DL.No matter how much I tweak a skin not made for Iray it never really looks that great IMO

  • New Smith Micro "La Femme" base figure for Poser at Rendo

    Like, for the record: I’m no program loyalist. I’ve tried Poser and actually own a copy. It’s not my preferred thing: I like the versatility of Genesis 3-8 and Iray. And dForce, though flawed, is much easier for me to grasp than the Cloth Room. But I’ll use it if it suits my need. Same with Blender and Marvelous Designer.

    And not to (completely) dunk on LaFemme and it’s creators:  it’s well crafted, but it offers nothing new to the table in my opinion. It just seems like Smith Micro is oblivious to the fact they’ve lost a huge amount of market share in the past 5 years, and are continuing to put bandaids on something that needs to be overhauled if not replaced by something new.

    Other Poser-exclusive figures that have tried to compete with Victoria 4 and the Genesis line -Dawn/Dusk, Scarlett, PE, Bella, et al- have had strong starts... but all have largely flamed out within a year (or less) and, outside of a few dedicated hanger ons, have virtually none of the major content creators supporting them, because -as is often parroted by PAs here- there’s “no market” for them. In that they don’t provide enough steady stream of revenue to justify the time/effort into making content for them. Which I do understand.

    In all fairness, I wish success for them and their efforts pay off. But as a new generation of content creators raised on Daz Studio grows and the Poser demographics shrinks, I think Rendo and SM are going to have to have a “come to Jesus” moment and wonder if it’s financially worth continually slapping bandaids over it.

  • How to remove Legacy UVs for Genesis 8: Victoria 4?

    I put Legacy UVs for Genesis 8: Victoria 4 on my character. It loads a white character with purple geografts. I decided I didn't want to use a Victoria 4 skin after all and deleted the geograft but I can't get rid of the white skin/shader. I made a materials preset file of the original base genesis 8 female skin and used it but it the skin loads overtop the white shader, doesn't get rid of it.
    Any help is appreciated. Thank you

  • How old does the Leony character look to you?

    I say 30ish. Anybody can have a toned body, There are female Olympians in their 40's, so body tone is not useful. Her face has harsh lines that are generally not related to youth.

    Did you know Amazon has an age guessing app? I didn't either but I found it. You need an AWS to use it. But I think the age range is stunningly spot on here and matches many guess here.

    I have to admit the "appears to be sad 56%" made me giggle a bit. Poor Loeny!

    Nice app!  So taking the median 34-ish seems about right to me.  I have not purchased this figure.  Even though she is beautiful, I was wondering if anyone noticed the weird barrel strap like indentations in her mid section? (see link)

    https://www.daz3d.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/l/e/leony-hd-for-victoria-8-05-daz3d.jpg

    Isn't that a bit odd?  Outside of that annoyance, her skin and body look great.

  • Looking for specific elf ear shape for Gen 8 project

    Select the V4 clothing. On the bar at the top of the program, go to edit->object->geometry->add smoothing modifier. Go to parameters. There should be an area for smoothing modifier. Go there. Go to where it says "Collision Object" and select Victoria 4. The pokethrough-the places where the clothing doesn't fit V4-should reduce. Go to where it says collision iterations, and click upward one increment at a time until the pokethrough disappears. Sometimes tweaking the number of smoothing iterations helps, sometimes it doesn't.

  • Matt Castle does some stuff
    Obviously you haven't browsed the site,  or even some of the Threads in this art Studio forum.  Your figure is quite well covered compared to some

    I'm fairly new, but I have browsed fairly widely; Still, I thought I'd err on the side of people not opening a completely new thread to "OMG, BOOBS!", even if there wasn't any doubt about whether it was within the rules. (After all, half the point is to have underwear that's more "plain" than what's sold in the store).

    However, if you think I'm being overcautious...

    ~~~~~
    Anyway, a test Charlotte 8 MCM. I haven't got the JCMs sorted yet, so the straps are a bit floaty, but the fit morph itself is fairly smooth. (Again, apologies for the rough render).
    What are the thoughts on the most useful shapes? I'm currently assuming the must haves to make this widely useful are the major body and breast shapes from the Female Body Morphs, and Victoria 8 (particularly as it doesn't morph very well by default on Vicky). I'm doing Charlotte 8 because I use her fairly regularly, but which other major Daz characters are particularly important? (Some it already fits okay on, some I don't have, but if people think there's shapes that are vital, I'll try to take a look at it).
    ~~~~~

    As far as texturing, I've elected to reverse the seams on the cups, as they felt like they were the wrong way around, which held up when I actually checked various designs.

    (And from this angle, you can better see I still need to paint all the stitching around the back strap, but I'm not sure whether I want to do that as straight stitch or zig-zag stitch yet. Thoughts?)

  • Looking for specific elf ear shape for Gen 8 project

    Do you know how to add a smoothing modifier? Do that, set the collision object as V4, and fiddle with the collision iterations until the pokethrough goes away. Widening the head on V4 is easy: select head with node selection tool, go to parameters, and x-scale until it looks right.

    There are plenty of other V4 skins, available either in ds/dsa format under Victoria 4/Materials or in pz2 format under runtime/libraries/pose. You don't have to use the base version.

    I don't know much about v4.  I only started with Da z in December and I pretty much stuck with Gen 8.  the only reason why I ended up with V4 is because a large v4.2 bundle that came with morphs  was offered in the freebie corner.  All I hahad to do was buy the base V4 figure.   So now I did that V4 comes up in searches and that was when I came across Lillith and she had the specific ears I was looking for.   Thusfar, I am getting used to Gen 8.  But it seems with V4 everything is totally different.

  • From Victoria 3 to Genesis 2

    Update: I've been able to transfer the body morphs using Victoria 3 SAE source and applying all head and body morphs. I chose to "Get Values from Figure in Scene", then clicked the usual "on for all non-zero values".

    The problem now is transferring head morphs as they don't register on GenX. There is no morph apply to drag to GenX, just a custom slider on the V3 figure.

  • is there a way to fit Genesis 3 Hair to Victoria 4.2 figures?

    Within the Genesis line, if I generally try to fit more advanced hair to a less advanced figure, I get a warning, I tell it I want to convert it, and generally it fits pretty well or I can figure out how to adjust it.

    But, I just tried putting Genesis 3 hair on a Victoria 4.2 figure, and I can't get the hair to the right spot. I know I COULD replace the Victoria 4.2 figure with a Genesis 3 one and the hair would probably fit fine.

    Is there any product that builds an invisible Genesis 8, Genesis 3 or Genesis 2 shell around a Victoria 4.2 figure that's already in the scene? Failing that, is there some simple adjustment that can attach the hair to the figure in the right place? (Y-Translation on the hair didn't seem to make any difference)
