34th Daz3D Bryce Render challenge ■■ Robots and Robotics ■■
@hansmar...Robotization in Ag... it is a great success... really like the perspective of the road in the distance
@sray.... No Man's Land is a great almost photographic image
@henryhor... The Offering.. Great image... very exotic hydroponic setup there lots to look at
@adbc... FAmily Gathering beautiful image...love the sun ray effectthis is my first entry... I've been playing around with this in that all the makeup that she has applied was via several spot lights...just imagining in the future makeup being applied using lasers.. instead of smearing on a physical material of some sort.
Title: Getting Ready for a Hot Date!
used: Cyborg Generation 8 Female, Victoria 4.2 (face only) from DazIt Problem to Install "Anatomy Pro Bundle"Actually I just switched on my other PC (where DAZ Studio is installed) and looked for myself. I can find the Michael 4 Skeleton, Internal Organs and Muscle Maps, Victoria 4, her Skeleton, Internal Organs and Muscle Maps and the DAZ Brain in Smart Content. The only one that is missing is the Michael 4 character.
V4 and the Skeletons appear in the "Figures" category, the Organs and Brain in the "Anatomy" category, the Muscle Maps in the "Materials" catergory - are you not seeing them there?
Export from Daz (.dae) with UV mapsHello guys,
Goal: export Victoria 8 (Marigold) with UV Map to blender
I can view UV Maps of Victoria 8 on Daz (attach 1).
I export as .dae (collada) with settings (attach 2).When opened in Blender, UV Map is not there.
Do I need to configure anything before experting UVs?
Thanks
"Fundamental" Genesis 8 ProductsG8 head and body morphs for male and female, of course.
200+ Head Morphs - for more morph dials.
Fit Control - I find it particularly useful to use items from older generations, or to kit-bash.
V4 & M4 Clones - There's a way to auto-fit M4 and V4 items to G8 without additional products, but I find that this product handles some items better. I hear that the recently released clothing converter for M4 and V4 works even better still, but I don't own those products so I can't confirm.
Hair, hair, hair... but needless to say, it's highly subjective which ones.
Personally I found the V4 and M4 clones product gave horrible results and had to return it. Same for the riversift art conversion product. I get a much more perfect fit autofitting to G3 first and then saving that version to fit to G8.
Other than the G8 head and body morphs for male and female, there is nothing on your list that I would consider essential or fundamental which is why it's hard to give answers to questions like this, eveyone has their own preferences and the list can get really long, real fast.
It Problem to Install "Anatomy Pro Bundle"I'm pretty sure if you installed it via DIM, its going to be found in your Smart Content. This product is only compatible with Michael 4 and Victoria 4 character bases, so if you have another character selected that is from a different base, it probably won't appear in your smart content.
Assuming you have one or both of the aforementioned character bases, try going to your Content Library and looking for the components. Don't try to look under "A" for Anatomy, because it is a bundle of different products. For example, Michael 4 Internal Organs, I would look in the "M" folder contained under the Products folder in your Content Library tab. I could be wrong as I do not have this product, but that's one of the first things I would check.
The problem is not gone. I've tried it and I think it might support older daz3d versions.

Limited Time Freebies Discussion Thread... attempting to drag this discussion over here.
I agree that the most recent batch of DAZ freebies isn't particularly useful (at least to me), but let's not look a gift horse in the mouth.
Amongst the more recent DAZ freebies were things like Victoria 4 and V4 Morphs++, Hiro 5, and a number of cute haircuts (bubblegum, sassy, paradise bird, nikkou)...Thank you for your attempt! It was worth trying ...
Bridget 8Thanks @xyer0 I’m guessing the HD is not that strong because she’s supposed to be young. Usually the HD shines the most on older characters which is probably why they were included in the pro bundles for those. For me it’s way more fun to just use the DazO characters as a base and play with mixing morphs to create something new. I don’t think I’ve ever used a DazO out of the box except maybe Edward and V7 but soon realized that V7 was way too recognizable lol, so you really HAVE to mix morphs if you want to do something original. I think people who are upset about lack of different ethnicities might be more upset about the CONCEPT of exclusion because it’s so easy to create different amazing ethnicities yourself with just a few spins of dials or mixing skins. There are soooo many great morph kits in the store to create with! This is supposed to be art, not just playing with dolls lol.
I concur. But I rely upon Daz Core characters and their HD morphs from which to build in order to overcome the blank sameness of the Genesis 3/8 Base. Only a relative few PAs make characters that are sufficiently distinct enough from the Base (for my needs). I need for each of my characters to look DIFFERENT from each other, not related.
Victoria and Michael 7 were so cute-iful, that they made a nice starting point which I would later need to dial out a bit. But Victoria and Michael 8 were too gender dysphoric to provide the same thing for this generation, and it threw me (and some character-making PAs) off for awhile. So, I've had to wait for Genesis 8 Core to mature (get enough diversity) so that morph dial twisting isn't the only basis of my characters' differences from each other.
I've found that the more morph dialing I do, the more custom expressions I have to do (because store-bought expressions often fail to emote enough---right up to the point in the dial where they turn into toons or distort---there' no sweet spot). I'm glad to do this for my protagonist, antagonist, and love interest, but I don't want to have to do it for supporting character actors as well. I recognise that my needs are the tiny minority position, but I'm always glad to get regular-looking girls like Tasha and Bridget and seasoned gents like Christian and Vladimir so everyone isn't instantly identifiable as Daz.
Bridget 8Get this https://www.daz3d.com/skin-builder-8-for-genesis-8-females and any of the many morph kits or mix characters you already have. Why do people want their personal ideal characters out of the box? Seriously, the fun is creating your own...
I couldn't agree more. I was going to shy away from this part of the conversation, but I think I will lend my short two cents about it. We all know DAZ is in the business of making money. They will diversify if they feel there is a need but the bottom line is money. Earlier, I made a comment about this one being lackluster to me. She still is to a degree because...well...she a bit ordinary. Most of the Genesis 8 bases that I love have been a little different, especially the POCs ones.
However, at the end of the day, those of us who are POCs that wish for more representation in the medium we love know that the sad truth is...there's not many non POCs that like diversity, which may result in low sales for someone like Lee 8 or Darius 8 (I don't know how they did sales wise, but I'm going off a comment I read earlier that stated there were 38 Daz Originals, 32 of which were white, 3 black, 3 asian. Broken down like that, it pretty much speaks for itself).
I started doing this thing back in 2004 (15 years ago, whew!). You know how much diversity was out here for Victoria 3, Michael 3 etc...not a whole lot, that's for sure. With the Generation 4 stuff, there were some in-roads made, but still not a lot and as a POC myself, I simply did not want to make all my art with just one type of character. We don't live in a world like that anyway.
Fast forward to today, and while there is still no where near as many diverse characters as there are "white" characters...we've still come a long way baby. These characters should really be blueprints for our imagination anyway, a starting point toward something greater, not the measuring stick.
I agree that I would love to see more diverse and more fantasy type characters. I'm tired of the werewolf, vampire, zombie, witch, sorcerer, sorceress, superhero stuff (and I like all of those genres) but would love more diversity. However, while Daz continue to make strides in this direction, we really do have enough resources to make almost any character we want, so IMHO, we POCs (and others too) really have two choices...
1.) We continue to voice our opinion about the "lack of" diversity amongst the Genesis 8 and beyond line and hope DAZ listens...maybe...if the interest is there and the sales show it. Or...
2.) We can make use of all these wonderful resources and craft our own unique characters (which is probably what we should do anyway) and who knows...turn around and sell them (while still voicing our love for more diverse characters, but not just characters that look like us)?
Again, just my opinion. Take it with a grain of salt. :)

Is Poser worth it?I started with Poser back in 2005 and unless you are dead-set on using products no newer than Victoria 4, it's not worth the money. Poser is a good program most of the time, but it hasn't kept up with more modern offerings. It has the best (IMHO) interface if you've never used a 3D package before, that same interface is very different from everyone else's UI, and it can cause problems if you're an old fart like me trying to use other programs. Add to that the fact that most content providers have moved to providing products for Studio, you're left with outdated content.

L'Adair's WIPsThe second "Abstract & Odd" image I created was inspired by the first one. While positioning the cube to replace the pond, with Draw Mode in Nvidia Iray to see the effect of the water on the bottom and plants covered by water, I unintentionally moved the cube too high. The resulting reflections of the sky on the sides of the cube, as well as the top, had their own abstract look.
Before the power went out, I had spent a significant amount of time creating an HDRI to provide the reflections. It was a hybrid image of a purchased HDRI and a spherical render of KIngdom of Marrakesh. Not only did I end up having to layer images in Photoshop, but the resulting HDRI didn't produce the look I was going for. I did learn, however, how to create a custom HDRI for future use.
Anyway, after the power came on, and finding I couldn't get the effect I was trying for, I went back to the first image. In spite of using the same set, I wanted to make the second image look as different from the first as possible. I hid anything I didn't think I wanted to use in the new image, so all that was showing was the terrain props from Muelsfell Hagswood and the cube I'd used for the pond. I added a bright red to the Base Color of all the vegetation and I moved the cube up, resized it and changed the proportions. I also tweaked the tiling of the water shader.
And of course, the result was lacking something. So I decided to add a tree, one with a lot of leaves, and ended up with the Willow tree. That left the right side looking a bit unbalanced. I immediately thought of the tall base from Jepe's statuette series. I found it in volume 3. I tried creating several instances and spreading those out, but in the end, I like the single "monument" better. It's both taller and much larger than the default load. I positioned the prop at the very edge of the terrain, intersecting slightly in the front, but there was still a very unnaturally straight line, so I used the weed prop to soften that line.
Happy with the scene, I tried numerous HDRIs for lighting and color. I settled on the a sunset image from the Skies of iRadiance products, because I loved what it did to the leaves of the willow tree, and the red glow it gave the image overall, as well as the contrast with the blue-black sky. But once again, I was left with large area of a single color. I made the TerraDome prop visible and tinkered with the morphs to create a completely, more rugged distant terrain than in the first image, with empahsis on how the light hit and highlighted the peaks.
Here's the final image:
And finally, I decided it needed a little something in the water. I thought about using the new goldfish product and filling the pond with Koi, but decided to use only one fish, the salmon prop from AM's Brown Bear. It adds a bit of interest where the large stone is light behind it, without interferring with the reflections where the pond is darker.
Bridget 8I've been really stingy on getting the main gen 8 figures. Monique was a deal that had Monique 8,7, and 6. Edward was a trigger for something else, and Victoria probably was too. Aiko & Josie because they're used in other figures. The only figure I actually got for herself was Zelara. I've bought plenty of side characters, but not so much on the mains.
But I really like Bridget, and will probably get her. I like the Blair and Riley hairs and Urban Adventure Outfit too, so I'm thinking about a bundle. Maybe - that's not much from the bundle.Export from Daz (.dae) with UV mapsHey guys,
Im exporting Victoria 8 as .dae.
But...
When I open in Blender, there is no UV map.
Are there any special setting I need to have UV mapping?Changes to Infinite Skills Carrara TrainingThank you both UB and Bunny
Maybe it's just me.
In Phil's top left pane under the General tab one can see a heading for Morphs (and in this case since he has Morph++ installed, that as well) as well as Subdivision heading and more.
I have none of that.
Even after adding an INJ icon over the Victoria 4.2 instance in the lower left pane no heading with its controls appear in the top left hand pane.
Of course Phils version of Carrara is different since DAZ have added Paramaters and Controllers tabs, which I hve also looked through.
If this is something I overlooked to do in the setup of Carrara I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Cheers
Anthony

Amongst the more recent DAZ freebies were things like Victoria 4 and V4 Morphs++, Hiro 5, and a number of cute haircuts (bubblegum, sassy, paradise bird, nikkou)...GoZ wierdnessI'm not using GoZ anymore but I know of some issues I had in the past. ZBrush can't handle geometry issues like ngons or unconnected vertices while DazStudio simply ignores them.
My suggestion check that you "unfit" any geografts, hair and clothes of the Victoria 7 figure before using GoZ. Also if the figure is parented to a prop the whole thing gets imported to ZBrush.
If some figure attachments have issues in the geometry like ngones or unconnected vertecies GoZ dosn't work at least its giving you an error because vertex count dosn't match anymore if you try to get your sculpt back to DazStudio that is very frustrating at some times. On the other hand with quality assets there shouldn't be any geometry issues.
Need the name of the modelThank you, MimicMolly for your answer.Yesterday I was looking on the main discussion forum thread for Fantasy Skins for Genesis 8 and there CakeOne mention about Tara 2 (Tara 2 HD for Victoria 7 & Victoria 8 ).It seems that the woman character that I was looking was Tara 2 by Kayleyss.Your answer was very close and perhaps even Aurore by the same artist Kayleyss is use on the other promo images for Fantasy Skins for Genesis 8.Yes, Cake One was the author of the image, and I think she told me it was a figure by Kayleyss. I think I remember she mentionned the name of Tara... Not 100% sure but this rings a bell to me.
Changes to Infinite Skills Carrara TrainingIf you own Morphs++ (these are the main V4 morph injections), it absolutely does appear in both Content and Smart Content, if you are set up correctly.
V4 also comes with basic morphs. Those can be found in the parameters tab on the top right. To see them, you first have to click on Victoria 4.2 in the instances tab (lower right). There are only two basic (male) morphs there. But if you go further down and click "head," there you will find a bunch of morphs.
Basically, if you want more than head morphs, you will need Morphs++.
Changes to Infinite Skills Carrara TrainingAnthony, I believe that you misread what Phil said.
He said that the DVD's included "working files." These are files that help with constructing things while doing the the tutorial. Personally, I never used those files, yet didn't have any issues.
Phil did not claim that the V4 morphs were no longer available. In fact, the morphs are in the store here:
https://www.daz3d.com/victoria-4-2-morphs
Hope this helps! Phil's tutorials are the best.
