  • Figure arm and leg bends - Are these getting worse?

As others said, you probably installed a faulty character that has hidden morphs engaging when they shouldnt. Since it's the most likely issue, you  need to rule that out by showing hidden properties in Parameters tab and then putting your figure into a pose that gives you the issue.  Then you need to scroll through the Current Active in the Parameters to find the culprit morph in the list.
Once found, you can uninstall the character it belongs to.

It's a genesis 8 figure. I'm noticing lots of issue with poses. hip creases in strang ways. I don't remeber hading to do this much fixing before...

Check your active hidden morphs; it's definitely not unknown for a character to go out without their JCMs being correctly linked to their morph, causing them to activate on all characters.

If so, uninstall them (or manually fix it, if you know how), then put in a customer support ticket to get it fixed.

(I tend to put in a few reports a year, even once or twice for core characters, but the way I work and the stuff I do makes it more normal that I'll spot these than many people).

  • Smooth chest shape for G9

I ran into some problems when mixing body shapes for a new character, so naturally I immediately set out to fix this in the most overkill manner available.

I present to you: A chest smoothing morph for G9. Comes with specific support for 116 masc characters & shapes at the time of writing.

Two nearly identical men standing side-by-side, one leaning his arm on the other's shoulder. The only difference between them is that one has defined pecs, while the other's chest is completely smooth and flat.

Download over on my blog, and do show me all the beautiful twinks you make with it.

  • How to edit duf file to remove phantom Face Transfer path

Doesn't saving a new preset with the adjusted path work?

Yep.  But the "Unable to locate..." messages still pop up when the character is loading.  It bugs me.  Why the tool doesn't offer a simple "save to" popup so that the generated mats don't go to a temp directory is puzzling.  Of course, going forward, I now save the material map jpgs to my runtime/texture directory when I save the character (but I still have to go to the Surfaces" tab and correct the location before saving.  Kludgy.

If you chnage the maps and save (as a character preset if that is what you use) then use that instead of the preset created by the Face Transfer save does that still give the errors? If so I would be interested to know what the problem sections of the .duf file are.

Noemi's smile has been my favorite. I also dial in dimples from Emma and Jordi's Head Morph package (now found at their gumroad store).

  • How to edit duf file to remove phantom Face Transfer path

So, for some reason, Face Transfer saves the material maps to "C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Studio4\temp\Face Transfer\Generate\968".  So, I take the time to move all these maps to another, permanent directory since the temp directory goes away when I reboot my PC.  But the duf when I save the character keeps throwing up errors, looking for the material map jpegs in the temporary directory that they are first saved to.  After I tell DS to ignore them, the figure loads with the correct maps that is pulls from the permanent directory in my runtime that I saved them to.  I want to remove any reference in the duf to the temp directory so I'll stop getting the annoying errors.  Can I just do a search in the duf file and remove any lines that contain "Fact_Transfer" in it and then save the duf?

  • Smiles, Everyone, Smiles!

What are your favorite DAZ character smiles? Any generation, Genesis or non-Genesis. It can be a specific character whose smile always seemed to hit the sweet spot with you. Or it can correspond to a specific expression/morph set designed to work on any character across that generation. Please post your renders.

Hopefully it'll lead to a healthy discussion, however subjective, on what makes a DAZ smile "good" or not.

  • BW Classy Vision Eyewear Set for Genesis 9, missing data from morphs

    Hello,

I'm speaking about the BW Classy Vision Eyewear Set for Genesis 9 by @Beautyworks.

When I tried 'BW CVES Glasses 02', I wanted to use the various adjustment morphs it is supposed to have to get a better fit on a character, but regardless of which morphs I was using, I saw no change at all on the glasses.

After checking that I was wearing my own glasses, I opened the Geometry tools, switched it to Vertex mode, then put the Parameters tab in Edit Mode to 'Select Morph Vertices' and, well, a whole lot of nothing happened.

I did re-check my glasses, and downloaded the package from Daz3D.com to get a look at the content of the .dsf files of these elusive morphs and while they are not empty, compared to the morphs from all the other glasses of that product, none of the adjustment morphs from Glasses 02 include data about delta. They are also all weighting around 1 kb.

Can someone who has the product check that I'm not particularly unlucky and see if they have the same problem with their version of this product?

  • Does someone know why auto-follow would put a skirt way inside a character shape?

Regarding the auto-generated morph, I saved it because I planed on fixing it if necessary with Blender (in end, nothing was needed: it is surprisingly good for an auto-generated morph for skirt), and since I didn't save the modified skirt (I don't know if something could go wrong or not so I erred on the side of caution), I used it to create a permament morph for Kelly's body which is now working fine with it existing, preventing Daz Studio to try to generate one that will be bugged.

Then, I opened a ticket, with a video of the whole process, from showing the problematic auto-generated morph to using Transfert Utility, then clearing the generated morph to allow auto-follow to generate a proper one.

Hopefully someone at Daz will have a better idea of what caused the problem (at worse, they can always ask the PA to do the rigging of skirt again).

If that video can be useful to someone else, I can attach them to a message.

Thank you for your help :)

Edit: I forgot about the Clear Generated Moprh tool.

Exactly ~ or you can use Purge Memory script from Default Resources product to clear the generated morphs stacked in RAM before loading the garment.

Besides, since it's an issue of rigging, you don't have to save auto-generated morph. As long as the rigging data is correct, this type of garment should be able to work with most of the characters' body morphs.

In my exp., that seems to be a rigging issue...

If you try re-rigging the skirt to G9 Base with Transfer Utility (Fit the skirt to None beforehand...), then dial the character morph, the issue should be gone ~

    It did solve the problem.

What was wrong when the PA rigged it and what solved that rigging problem when I used Transfert Utility (at least when I used it correctly, the first time, the source was the dress and the target was Genesis 9 blush) ?

I ever found the same issue from other products, however, I'm not 100% sure about the root reason....  I used to compared the re-rigged data with the original one, then I found skinbinding data are different.

Then, with Transfer Utility, Source should be G9 figure, Target should be the garment.

    What is TransferClone?

Maybe it could at least bring me closer to a kind of satisfying result?

Ah, a typo... It should've been "by using Transfer Utility with Clone", e.g. mark facs corrective morphs from the source figure as Favorites. Choose G9 Clone in Item Shape from Source. Then only transfer Morph Targets with Favorites option. (ss1)

The prerequisites is that there're expression / facs corrective morphs on the source figure. If there isn't any... this way won't work.

But I still have to say that in most of the cases, you won't get really expected corrective shapes. An example down below : distored shape in (ss2), after transferring and dialing the corrective morphs... in (ss3)

Fixing in Blender or other sculpting software can always bring you perfect results.

  • ERC Freeze Shrinks G8.1F When Applied To My Character Morph
Hello All! So I've made myself a character in Daz Studio, fixed up some mesh issues around the eyes in Blender. I have loaded it back onto G8.1F using Morph Loader, and after the niggles around that, got the morph to load and apply. The character is smaller than base G8.1F. I used Memorise Figure Rigging, then dialled in the morph to 100%. Then I went to the Jount Editor and did the thing where you get it aligned with the new morph's dimensions (I forget the official term just now). And then I go to ERC Freeze. Once it's Froze, the model shrinks a further percentage. I didn't check if it reapplied the morph... but this is the problem. Why has it shrunk? Should I not dial in the morph? What am I doing wrong? I know this gets asked a lot lol. I have had to use mobile data recently, so if I could get a direct link to a concise tutorial? Thank you.

I don't know how to check that, sorry.

    barbult said:

Is autofollow really checked (selected) in the skirt parameters? Is the skirt even rigged to G9 or is it just a dForce object not rigged?

    1. The skirt is still adjusting to the change of the shape, so I suppose autofollow is active but I don't know where to check to be sure.

    2. It has bones named as Genesis 9 bones are named so it seems rigged for Genesis 9.

  • Conversion G8>G9 eyelid closing misalignment

    Bejaymac said:

The problem is that the bones for the eyelids are in the wrong place, they need to be fine tuned to get them back into the optimum possition for your morph, then you need to "bake" the changes into the morph, otherwise you'll get a bunch of duplicate formula errors.

That is not really true ~ The issue we're talking about mostly come from two reasons:
    1) G8 has eight eyelid bones on each side while G9 only has two. The rigging as well as weight cannot be perfectly transferred;
    2) Conversion tools (no matter Shape Transfer or Manfridays' Figure Converter or RiverSoftArt's scripts...or manual conversion...etc,) either transfer no facs corrective morph or cannot transfer them really well.

Adjust Rigging to Shape or other ways of tweaking bones in DS cannot fix it.  Transferring corrective morphs from G8 to G9 by using TransferClone can do some work but cannot assure 100% perfect result  ~~

I have tried to use today coupon with the Thandey HD for Genesis 9 Character Bundle, it does not work.

Which coupon? I've not seen any daily coupon supposed to work on new items. The "30 Gives you 30" banner coupons work only on the featured artists stores.

I wanted to buy the bundle instead of the single item featured as the Golden Ticket Item, otherwise, I will not buy anything today.

Buy the golden ticket item first, then buy the bundle. You'll get a discount for owning one of the items of the bundle, as well as the discount for owning a golden ticket item.

@Halcon Bluesky might be referring to the Premier Free Character Bundle code. If so, the Thandey bundle isn't in https://www.daz3d.com/premier-characters. It might be added later today after Daz staff arrive, as with last week's Uksn bundle.

I can't speak for them, but the fact that the bundle isn't showing for the PFCB is what I logged in to ask about.  I've already owned everything they've listed this month and this SEEMS to be promoted as though it's an official DAZ set, despite the lack of the usual Premiere only bonus morph, and I'd really hate to lose this month's coupon if this is the last P-bundle for the month.

Not every bundle will be in that category. I don't know if there will be others, of the usual type or more like this, in the month though I would be surprised if there are no temptations waved under our noses. We can ask if it should be included, though.

That bundle has now been added to the selection of free bundles for Premier members.
