MEC4D's celebration ( with freebies ) [commercial]
I'm tellin'ya, it's a really nice car well worth the trouble!
The only bit that didn't convert cleanly where the springs, they had their normals inverted, the rest was fine (using SketchUp 8 and TIG's free .obj exporter).
Maybe it was the exporter I used, but when I tried it...not pretty, at all.
I did find another one, elsewhere in 3ds format that did convert a lot cleaner, for me.
MEC4D's celebration ( with freebies ) [commercial]Looking nice Eric !

Found a nice set of spoke wheels and wooden steering wheel on GRABCAD, things are looking better and better : )
Not quite finished yet though.
Cheers!

Happy anniversary Cath!
And thank you very much for the outfits, looking forward to see the 'Miami' suits!
Speaking of Miami, for all the tinkerers out there: here's a link to a rather nice Ferrari Daytona RagTop on 3dwarehouse (.skp SketchUp format) by B. Panyawat

Unfortunately it has been treated rather badly by its last owner, so it needs a bit of tender loving care to look right again.
Give it a new set of wheels, put the steering back to where it belongs, take off the added exhaust pipes, and get rid of the silenced .45 stashed in the boot.
Quite a bit of work, but it really is a nice car that's worth putting some effort in for some nice vice scenes : )
Cheers!
Erik
I passed on that one...it did look like too much work. Plus it didn't want to export cleanly for me, there was more than average clean up.

GENERAL FREEBIE REQUESTS Part 2I used to have a pizza restaurant in my previous runtime (computer then died). I think it was fully furnished and everything, but I can't remember who made it or where I found it. I've tried looking on ShareCG and Renderosity, but no luck so far. Any ideas?
Could it be that you got it from the Google Sketchup Warehouse since there are quite a lot of great restaurants, including pizza style. Sketchup models can be converted to .obj and used in Bryce, Blender, etc. If you have Sketchup try models by Cordelle but there are many other free ones too.
It wasn't a Sketchup item - in fact I'd forgotten all about Sketchup, so might have a look into it.

I also got a few restaurant models at a CAD site (freebie section) but can't remember the name at this moment. :( Just remembered: grabcad (also have sketchup models).
If I am not mistaken at Renderosity TrueForm has also a restaurant, but that is a paid item.
Star Trek Builders Unite 7: The Continuing MissionHere's a sample of what I was talking about. the floor doesn't show up till it's rendered. How do you place characters in the scene when you can't see the floor?
I tried Shetch-up. All the models convert in such a way that half their structure doesn't show up till they're rendered. How do you set up a scene if you can't see what you're working with?
I'll check Foundation 3D. Thanks.
Anyone know where I can find a good model of the 1701-E's corridor?
I know of a couple; one on Google Sketchup, which PDSmith had a Daz or Poser conversion briefly on his deviantart stash. The other one is a Lightwave section on Foundation3d.
Strange. I've never had that problem before.
Star Trek Builders Unite 7: The Continuing MissionI run into it off and on- and not just with Sketch-up. However, in this case,I did find this one at Sketch-up, but it needs work. All the doors are the same material zone. The blue intersection carpet is not supposed to be checkered and the monitor screens mounted along the corridor are mapped wrong- they're supposed to take 2 textures and the model applies one map to both. With work it's useable .

Show Us Your Iray Renders. Part IVFinally a change fo pace on this thread. Very cool creation, luv the colors/lighting, fantastic render.

Would be cool to see them making eye contact...
bloom needs to be "much" for the effect being noticeable.
anyway, don't care so much about that, that's why I hate doing full scenes, someone will complain soon or later.

btw I did a console game on Sketchup, maybe someone will complaint about the design too... :roll:DAZ 3D to Game Engines? Now that I have become comfortable with building simple 3D models in Sketchup, importing them into DAZ scenes along with marketplace content, and then rendering simple animations, I would like to add interactivity to my work.
My initial needs are for demo/prototyping purposes and I am evaluating some of the various game engines out there, including, Unity, Unreal, Coppercube, etc. Demoing a half-dozen game engines seems a bit daunting right now and I am hoping the great DAZ community out there can share their experiences and help me narrow down my choices.
This is what I am looking for in a game engine:
1. Make’s good use of my DAZ content and easily imports my stuff, including animations.
2. Intuitive to use, no coding, but still need simple physics based interactivity between objects/figures.
3. Wide range of publishing platform support, and of course freemium or low cost. Thanks!
Exporting figures to COLLADA (*.dae) but pose changes to defaultI am trying to export a posed figure to the COLLADA (*.dae) file format, but the result I get is the figure in the default arms out to the side pose instead of the pose I set.
I have fiddled with all the export parameters I could and no change. When I export in .OBJ or .FBX formats the figure's pose is good to go, no problems.
I tried Autodesk's free FBX converter but it hangs up when reading the .FBX files I create with DAZ.
Perhaps this has to do with the COLLADA format and/or maybe I could make my new pose act like a default pose? I am importing to Sketchup which has a default .dae import capability which I am hoping to use rather than purchasing additional .OBJ or .FBX import plugins/extensions for Sketchup.
Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong and/or work arounds would be much appreciated. Thanks!
