Ultimate dForce Bed - Render & Support thread [Commercial]
Good one. But i need a bed with mattress morphs or phisycs. Could anyone point me to something like that? Thanks a lot!
The problem I've found with beds, for the most part, is there aren't enough polygons in the mattress to support morph shapes. Here's one in the store, (Sleeping Late for V6,) that provides morphs for the mattress to work with the included poses for V6. I don't have this product, but I'd expect the mattress to have plenty of polygons to support the morphs. If I'm right, you could use dForce on this mattress or use dForms to create your own morphs.
Celebrity Look-a-Likes for 3D figures Part 2There are two Evangeline Lilly characters that I know of. Both are for Victoria 4 though.
1) Catherine by Ariah81 is free - https://www.sharecg.com/v/25277/gallery/11/Poser/Catherine-morph-(POSER)
2) There is a character by Mihrelle at Renderosity called MRL Ariana.
The only Hugo Weaving I have is for Michael 3. It is free if you want to check it out - https://www.renderosity.com/mod/freestuff/?item_id=71371
General problem with children's proportions in DAZ itemsRendering without clothes being problematic... this is where dForce items really help a lot. If it's not dForce/converted to dForce, or not specifically made for smaller child-like shapes, then I don't really bother trying to fit. There are plenty of dForce clothes and clothes that respond well to dForce.
As for body shape/dimensions, accumulate enough child shaping dials, and then it gets close enough. No different than bigger ladies or any other human shape that isn't Victoria-style supermodel. You just need enough dials and the mind's eye to put them all to use.
I don't render them often. AliveSheCried has a few dials at Rendo which help, as I recall. Getting the joints right, the torso shape - it's not just a dialed-down adult, but it gets complicated for many reasons to work in child shapes. Of course, with the clothes on, then getting the exact details right underneath is somewhat irrelevant.
My current running shopping list of boring thingsEDIT: Nevermind. I just did more perusal of Renderosity. Sheesh. I generally don't go there because I lurve the DAZ installer...but...dang...
A moderate car (think Honda Civic or Ford Fiesta) - Not a super car, not a collectable car...just...a car...like you gave a crayon to an 8 year old and said...draw me a car. That's what I want.
Paperback and hardcover books that have open/close morphs (along with the associated hand pose). I've made some but they're not like what a pro would do. Maybe a whole research set (notes/books/coffee cup/pens/pencils/erasers/etc.) There are ways to fake this but it'd be nice to have a set.
Bundles of boring clothes. Not sexy clothes. Just normal, boring, clothes. Slacks and a polo for men or just an average suit. For women, just some business casual options. Not going out for a hot party night. Just something plain. (I may just need to shop more for this).
Bundled collections. I'm looking at you Moonshine Drive in. Not even asking for a discount...just an option that says...would you like all the items that go with this? Obviously this wouldn't work for something like a Victoria but there places this would work.
Leather/hide armor (for my stone age D&D game).
I have others but this is my current go to list...
[Released] RSSY Ultimate Clothing Fixer [Commercial]Well, on that front, I converted V4 FaeRealm (https://www.daz3d.com/fae-realm-for-victoria-4-aiko-4-and-elite) using RSSY Clothing Converter Helper V4 to G8F. Then I tried to ran the Fixer script and it says that the top and skirt aren't clothing (see attached screenshot). Both garments seem to work fine and fit to G8F without any problems (not a sign of the hideous V-blotch on the skirt). It seems like all I need to do is manually add the metadata. But I can't figure out where to do this.
EDIT: I had another thought - I'm bad about reorganizing my Poser content since, for the most part, Poser wasn't terribly picky about where things were located. So the cr2 files for this set were in the Props folder instead of Figures. Would that have made any difference?
Look for the tutorial in my signature about BEWARE THE SOCKMAN and it will let you know how make an .obj file into a piece of conforming clothing. :)

No, the location doesn't make a difference for the metadata. Somemetadata is specified in the categories which you can set easily. Other metadata is specified by loading the item in a scene and setting Scene Identification and then resave the clothing item. The UCF will work on an item even if it is not tagged as clothing so it doesn't make a difference for this script.

Fixing Creatura - The Harpy to work on G3/G8 - What Do?So, since there's a sore lack of legit bird feet for G3/G8, I figured I'd try to use Creatura - The Harpy (https://www.daz3d.com/creatura-the-harpy-for-victoria-4) on G3/G8 (I'm using G3F here, since I don't have the V4/M4 Clones at this time). In a previous thread, it was said that to fix this, you'd need to adjust the Weight Maps in DS, so the talons don't overlap and then auto-fit doesn't overcompensate for any missing bones or w/e is lost in translation.

Well, here's my question: How in the fresh heck do you do that?
To be blunt, documentation for how to use Weight Maps is terrible. I've found Blender tutorials to be less obtuse than DS' documentation. I suppose if I was that desperate, I could attempt to MacGuyver and do a re-geografting to G3/G8 in Blender, but that's too much work to do and frankly, I'm lazy, lmao. If someone can help me (and anyone else who's Weight Map Tool Challenged) figure this out in as simplest of terms as humanly possible, please, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you!!
difference between victoria 5 and victoria 5 supermodeldifference between victoria 5 and victoria 5 supermodel? about six inches I think. ;)

ZDG random Daz Studio discoveries and questions.yeah, them opacity things, they keep cropping up. one thing I have yet to make any notes on other than 'it took forever that way', and another that is a WIP project, lol. AoA is further hindered by it being a Scripted thing, thus the CPU needs to compile at runtime each instruction, and I'm sure it's via a few levels of abstraction code levels. AoA can do cool things, it's just slow. lol. Mix in a few dozen layers of almost not their opacity stuff, and ugh.

As for that ^ project, I'm not sold on the wings. There was a nice set of dragon-like wings, however, it was Iray only, and I've had my share of Iray only stuff that just flunked hard at usability at this point.
P.S. did some digging yesterday night as I was sifting through looking at what elves were in my collection, I have confirmed that FW Neiva does include the DS file for the UVing thing (in her install zip, it's all there.). I had just been ignorant and skimmed past after seeing the lack of maps without knowing the UVing existed to use the other maps at the time. I guess 'SB8' stands for "Skin Builder 8", kind of cool. It's an interesting tool for mixing up custom maps from the included source maps (pros and cons with that, as I found out fussing in gimp a page or so back). If that is true where the alt UVing came from, then it would be super useful.

For my only other concern of not knowing and not having much interest other than knowing that it at least existed at one time, that's going to take a cup of coffee to write up. In daz, with the Daz equipment, FW Neiva is mostly all there and works as advertised. I just don't know about 3rd party stuff I haven't seen mentioned since about generation 5 I think, and I'm sure at the time it was limited to V4 stuff, I think, lol. It's not something I dabble in, so I don't know if gen8 3rd party 'equipment' exists and what map UVings it uses if it exists. If it uses the torso maps, your all set, if the default 'equipment' UV maps are needed, then you're going to have difficulties (or extra work making the maps).
(edit) one site appears to only list "the script" for applying mats, and nothing is mentioned as to what maps are used at all, only "use 'The Script' to apply the materials". almost reminds me of that toy story 3-eyed alien 'the claw' scene, just saying 'the script' instead, lol. Ohhhh, Aaaaah, The Script, use The Script. The script will make it all work. lol.
Show us your 3Delight rendersI was playing with Victoria 6 HD in 3delight. I use IRay with Genesis 3 and Genesis 8, but I like the look of 3Delight for some of the older generation characters.
Yes, Iray suit more for Ultra realistic render, in the other hand, 3delight is better for close 2D effect.
Remember, "There's Always Another Sale™" (Report sales errors here.)What am I missing? It says Extra 45% Off Legacy Items. I don't see where that is on the sale page, and I do not see a link once you click this box.
"67% OFF* These featured Genesis, Michael 4 and Victoria 4 Items from Featured Artist Catalogs above"
That's the default 40% off, plus the additional 45% off.
Okay, thanks.....thought I'd gone blind or something, lol

Improved Iray Uber ShaderI see the words "Improved Iray Uber Shader" on the product page for "older" Generation 8 models, like Victoria 8 and Olympia 8, too. What specificaly do you see different in the Daz Studio shader surface channels for Diego and Babina that aren't in Victoria or Olympia?
Don't see anything different, was just asking when it was introduced. I see it as far back as Darius 8. If you see it further back that's great.
Is there anything newer about Babina 8 that makes her look so much more lifelike from the product images than the older gens, or is it just a trick of lighting etc.?
That's what I was trying to figure out.
Is the new Iray Uber Shader backwards compatible?Thank you L'Adair, but I'm a beginner, so this sounds like Greek to me. Sorry about that. Are you saying the new and improved Iray Uber Shader for Genesis 8 can be applied to my Victoria 7 HD model?
The Victoria 7 HD model loads the Victoria 7 Iray materials for me.
The HD is an addon morph for the base figure, and requires V7 for both the shape and the materials. If it's loading without, check to see if you have the base. If not, you can apply any Genesis 3 female materials to the figure, but the shape isn't going to look much like Victoria 7.
Select your G3 female figure, (V7 or any other,) Open Surfaces. There are tabs across the top of the pane. Make sure the one labeled Presets is selected. In the right column, drill-down to Default > Materials > Iray > Feminine. With Feminine open, you will see a list of all the characters you own for Genesis 3 that include Iray materials. Select one and open to locate the presets to apply the various materials and options.
I hope this helps.

The following files could not be found........have you looked in the log file?
clear the log file to start fresh.
start a new scene and load Victoria 7. log file should give a clue
guessing is an erc that froze the morph in it.
