It's always great to see a refreshing set of images in the Art forum. Clearly you put a lot of thought and energy in to your renders. Thanks for sharing them here!
I started my Daz3D journey about five years ago, and things picked up speed during the pandemic lockdowns. Not long after this, I learned to let go of the word "never" ... which, oddly, cropped up here in the Forum with folks dedclaring that they never post-edit their Daz renders. Once I got over self-imposed prohibitions like that my creativity off. I now find Daz3D one in a number of tools in my workflow. I'm open to exploring and combining different techniques.
There's a piece of advice I try to put in practice, something from way, way back when I pursued photography as a hobby. Beyond the technicals of handling a camera, of lighting and composition, the one source of inspiration in photography is learning about things wholly unrelated to it. Travel, culture, food, fashion, conflict and entertainment -- when we immerse ourselves in these topics, we pick up on a variety of things that we can turn into eye-catching renders, images that capture people's hearts. Our creative output stays relevant and we never lack for new ideas engage with.
Hope to see more of your work here. Best of luck on your creative endeavors.
Cheers!
thank you. i started using daz way back when it first came around. learned about daz through using bryce 3d. i've always been an artist. mostly drawing and tattooing. then my hands got shaky, and i just couldn't draw pen and paper no more. my wife a week or 2 ago gave me her Huion drawing tablet with the screen. and that's been a huge game changer. learning what and how to use the brushes, but i think i'm getting it. i've learned how to use 5-6 brushes, a blender, and an eraser so far.
How do "you" search the daz forums?Easy, I don't...
I type in DAZ, or DAZ Forums: "the issue that interests me" into google, and that's how I find anything as the forum's search engine is not that great…
How do "you" search the daz forums?choose your favorite search engine and type in daz forum then whatever your are searching for.
Finally understand Sketchy Iray toon shader -- with a better file structureYes, even with the pdf and the video, it still can be hard to figure out exactly how to use this. As several people in other forum discussions have noted, it can be somewhat confusing. I realized that some of the confusion is because the PA (who knows his product very, very well -- it's just the rest of us who need some help) combined different categories of files into the same folder. Once I separated everything out, it then made a lot more sense as to how, when and why to use each file.
How to use DIM and avoid a messI use a version of option 2, copying and pasting content into a completely separate file structure. It took about a week to get everything organized, and it does require updating files when I install new content. However, the time I save by knowing where my files are and not having to search through Content Manager is well worth it. I don't have to spend time trying to figure out which PA made which item or try to remember the (usually, oh-so-dreamy) name of a particular item.
I let Content Manager install everything into their default folders and have set up several new folders at the top of the directory tree. As DrunkMonkey indicated, DO NOT MESS with the default folders -- just set up new folders in whatever logic makes sense to you and copy/paste your content there. For example, my top level folders are people, lights, shaders, effects, cameras, architecture, nature, etc. Inside of those I paste content. One of the main advantages of doing it this way is that I can name things anything I want and place them into whatever categories I want. So, instead of a dress named perhaps "Calypso Blue", I can put it (and all of the files associated with it) inside the "dresses" folder and call it "light blue dress".
I can also put content into multiple folders. For example, I can put all of the content for an item into one folder, and then put any of its effects or shaders into the "effects" folder, "shaders" folder, or into both if I wish. So, yes, it's a bit of a chore to copy content into these folders, but the advantage is that files are organized for the way that I use them. As a result, I can find content quickly and not waste time searching endlessly for stuff and asking myself the question, "wait -- where is that item again?"
How do "you" search the daz forums?your search term site:daz3d.com in Google works pretty well
How do "you" search the daz forums?I do a site search in Google. Eh, so Google knows that I hang around here.
How do "you" search the daz forums?I use the Duck Duck Go search engine since it doesn't track. Usually a phrase like "How to do ___ in Daz forum"* or "Product Name Daz forum" gets me me to the right thread.
Also if I am looking for a Read Me, I search "Product Name doku." "Doku" is part of the url for Daz's documentation center entries. Often I get the Read Me link even without "doku" but including it means I'm less likely to see results for product pages or forum threads.
*Note: quotes not needed for the searches

I just Googled "daz3d forums chibi" and received a lot of wondeful links! Therefore, try Google :)
Yes. I usually use their Advanced Search though which offers more detailed search parameters.
I will give that a try! Thank you!

How do "you" search the daz forums? It's largely unsearchable for me, unless I have a very distinct search keyword. But for phrases or product titles, enclose it in quotes and it will only give exact matches.
How do "you" search the daz forums?I have a hard time finding threads I'm looking for as it pops up anything that has my search word in it. Looking for Old Western theme'd clothes semi realistic to real both male and female and I know theres a thread somewhere but the search engine is lack luster.
Purchases not appearing in my install managerI'm not sure that's viable for me unfortunately. With over 4000 items in my library and no way to filter them recursively by category it would be far too much of a headache.
The content pane doesn't recursively search through my installed content which means a lot of it can get lost in sub categories. Ideally I want to click "figures" and see all my figures, without having to go figures > feminine > realistic, etc where things are going to get lost.
I guess I'll just have to hope for an update somewhere down the line as I can't see a solution to this.
Starlight Gauze body suit from the VYK Starlight Gauze Dress makes the Genesis 9 model disappearYou could try asking in the blender forum.
But I would expect that they will recommend you to use Diffeomorhic to get your files into blender.
Website images failureYeah, I was hoping it was a known issue. Chrome says a form element should have an id or name attribute. If I go into Inspect the page, deleting this entire node from the page fixes the issue. I just checked in FireFox. No issues. Maybe I'll browse the store in FF today. :)

... still have a lot more to learn i'm sure. most work i've done in the past was just render. i'd never edit my work other then minor blends and putting my name on my work. recently my wife gave me her drawing tablet with a screen. so i have started doing post work on my renders. my wife also uses Daz, but this will be for my work. if your interested in how i did something, feel free to ask. i'll do my best to help. just remember i've learned 90% by just playing with stuff. so i may not have the easist or best solutions. or maybe i've learned to do some things, that nobody thinks to do or try.

In addition to the images not displaying properly in-post, you might want to edit the image properties to make the width 800 pixels with the padlock icon for height linking still closed, otherwise they will be resized to 800 pixels wide by the forum without affecting the height and will get squished to a greater or lesser degree.
hmm, i been putting 1400 width. seems to be fine...? didn't they upgrade the 800 width?
It may depend on browser width (or even on browser) but they are certainly squishing for me, using Firefox at about three-quarters of a 1,920 pixel screen.
alright, cool cool. thank you for letting me know. i'll fix them then.

Some very nice images you have posted here! :)
Just to let you know, there are about 8 images on page 1 which appear to have broken links on the inline image and so are not displaying. Not sure if you accidentally deleted and re-uploaded the attachments or it's some forum-oddness?
ahh yeah, i corrected some already. realized what i was doing wrong. i'll be fixing them once i'm done with getting my work done. i didn't realize i had multiple pages when i was correcting some XD. but thatnk you! :0)
