  • Star Trek Builders Unite 8: THE REBOOT

Although our Star Trek RP is set in the early 2380s (approximately "Lower Decks" era), our GM decided that one of the malfunctions our ship's computer was having on our last mission while passing through a large ion storm was that the replicators were frequently producing old equipment patterns.

Naturally, I had to have some fun with this, and rendered my character, the ship's CMO Lt Commander Harriet Christiansen, in a TOS-era skant uniform.

And following on from that silliness, I decided I'd have some fun by also dressing up my other character with that RP group - Mira Longbuck, a ratling from our Warhammer 40k/Dark Heresy campaign, so this one's definitely non-canon, I just thought it was funny to have a ratling in a captain's uniform.

I think it is the helm of the Emperor's Royal Guard from the last Star Wars movie series:

  • Planetary Smuggler Eyebrows and Mohican

Cool & gnarly looking fellows, both the G8M & G8F. Getting some great Star Trek Andorian vibes from them! laugh

I might be wrong, but the eyebrows look they might be Alchemist Hair & Beard for Genesis 3 and 8 Males, M3D Victorian Hair, Facial Hair, Hats, and Aging for Genesis 8.1 Male, or even Kurdan Hair for Genesis 9 (although, that's iffy, seeing as it's G9), while the mohawk could be M3D Krampusnacht Hair and Beard for Genesis 9, 8, and 8.1 Males, Viking Fiber Hair Set for Ivar 9 and Genesis 9, Sidd Hair for Genesis 8 Males, or outliers like Short Mohawk Hair for Genesis 3 and 8 Male(s), Asher Hair for Genesis 3 Male(s), or possibly others.

Or they could all be strandbased hair painted on the figures.

    Hope my suggestions help.

    Edit--

They both might be from this character: https://www.daz3d.com/dolb-hd-for-ollie-8

Yes, that looks like a possibility, too.

I may have seen him in person back when I was in high school. My drama class went downtown to Portland State University to watch a play that one of our high school drama class graduates had a role in, and my teacher, Mrs. Sparks, said the lead actor was a famous movie star. I wasn't familiar with James Earl Jones back then (this was in the 1960s) but I do remember how he looked and that voice. It was a play about gladiators, but that's all I can remember about it. But I'm pretty certain it was him.

...it possibly was Shakespeare's Coriolanus. which takes place in ancient Rome.

  • EULA Update & Editorial Licenses Coming to Daz

Yes, it looks like product testing may well need some additional checks or reminders if ELs are indeed not considered valid for promos of other products, as that's twice in rapid succession.

I also note that the Millennium Falcon is in one of the other promos, and while I don't believe it's a product from the Daz store, it should probably be assumed that it's just best to not use any Star Wars models in promos.

(Although we did recently get Leia's gold bikini as a non-EL product, but I believe that's a copyright/trademark that Disney/Lucasfilm are now distancing themselves from; it seems it's a part of the franchise that isn't the best look and which they'd rather forget).

  • New Year, New Sales Thread: Report Issues Here "Reporting Only"

I am loathe to disrupt the sales of a product during the critical initial sales period, but the promos from https://www.daz3d.com/par-sci-fi-shipyard appear to extensively use the Editorially Licenced https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-sci-fi-pilot-suit-for-genesis-9-rebel-texture-add-on, and my understanding from when I raised a question about use of ELs in promos the other day is that this should be reported. (And with the number of promos that are being reported, that won't leave a lot left).

I will also note that one of the promos uses a Millennium Falcon and Stormtrooper model that I do not believe are from the Daz store, so won't specifically have Daz's EL, but not mentioning their use when we're discussing the licence around Star Wars assets would feel inconsistent.

Complaint: Lead is really heavy. REALLY heavy. Had 3 days to rebuild my dad's house porch roof. It was rotten and letting water in. Had been part of a balcony, which my brother fell through due to how rotten it was. Brother not too badly hurt. Only way of doing in time with the tools I had there was to do a flat roof covered in lead. Had to buy 460lb/210kg and get the rolls on the roof before working the lead. Not something I want to do again! Regards, Richard.

Instead of complaining about the weight of lead, why don't you just change the Gravitational Constant of the Universe, as "Q" from Star Trek would suggest.enlightened

But, yeah, it is heavier that most other common materials.  I have a small mineral collection and have an eggsized piece of Galena (Lead ore), sitting in a bowl with some other similar sized "rocks" of mostly Silicon or Calcium or Carbon, or Chromium.  And yeah, the "lead" chunk is WAY heavier than the "normal" rocks.  Demonstrating that, is another party trick of mine.blush

But still..., a lead balloon will float in air.surprise

    ...

I tried changing the gravitational constant, but my cat told me he'd really hate me forever if I suceeded. So, I struggled instead.

    Regards,

    Richard.

    09-08-1965

Iconic series "Star Trek" premiered on NBC. The show lasted for three seasons and followed the crew of the starship USS Enterprise as it completed its missions in space in the 23rd century. Captain James T. Kirk -- along with half- human/half-Vulcan science officer Spock, ship Dr. "Bones" McCoy, Ensign Pavel Chekov, communications officer Lt. Nyota Uhura, helmsman Lt. Hikaru Sulu and chief engineer Lt. Cmdr. Montgomery "Scotty" Scott -- confront strange alien races, friendly and hostile alike, as they explore unknown worlds.

  • models from unreal to Daz

If the beta doesn't work for you, there's another tool I can suggest. This one is an FBX importer that's been built by university students under Prof. Jeff Salvage, he wanted to make an animation with Star Wars models in Daz Studio and found the importer lacking features he needed. Free to use:

Couldn't find the OP, but someone mentioned getting offered the same model repeatedly in LDs. Just happened to me! I have G8 Delilah Dress in my latest selection for the second time in 2 days.

That said, I do get a variety of generations from gen 3-4 to G1-8, usually in the same set. This one is two G8 clothing, something for Star! (1), and a V3 outfit.

I remember "gas wars" during the mid-to-late '60s.  The price of gas would sometimes drop to a dime.  Also, we had Buck Night at the drive-in.  You crammed as many people as you could into your car, and you all got in for a dollar.

Does anyone know where to find the Enterprise A or Constitution Refit? It seems like I've looked everywhere. I got the Miranda from Vanishing Point for free, but they didn't have the "A". I've looked here and there but have not seen the "Wrath of Khan" ship.

I have searched here. There is the SNW Concept ships one and two that sort of look like the A and there isn't any Enterprise A under TOS-TMP
