I've added a sandy coastline (with a slight taper side-to-side0. I did look at adding some palms, bushes or rocks - but when the are scaled to the cityscape - they are nearly invisible and undistinguishable. I also added a 15% haze to the cityscape and sky. This really accentuates the foreground boaters. I think we are nearing completion... that is - I'm at a loss for additional editing direction.

Here it is now. Any thoughts??

I like your beach better. I understand your concern about insufficient details when dealing with grand scale but your viewer's eye is a wondrous thing and just because it looks like a blob of green your viewer will assume it is palm trees on a sunny Florida beach. Just one would be good. That is a long line across your image.

Hey Dollygirl, I added 5 palm trees to the central third of the beach. I scaled them at at 1.5 to make them more easily identifiable. While they're not overly tall... the trunks are still quite thin... but not too bad.

    Wow. Terrific information, Gentlemen.

Based on this, I am going to have my local shop (Central Computer) put together a bid, which I can share. Exciting prospect, this is, which will definitely temper the headache of dialing in a new machine.

Regarding: " make sure that you have a PSU and available PCI ports for 3-4 GPU’s. Because you can GPU render with both CPU+GPU together for a dramatic boost."...are you saying that the GPUs of the video card can be utilized for CPU rendering, as distinct from strict CPU or GPU rendering?

    Thanks,
    R

I am saying that some rendering methods of Luxus can run on both CPU+GPU for a maximum boost.
Octane is rumored to be updated from CUDA (NVIDIA only) to OpenCL which works on both GPU and CPU, but nothing confirmed yet.
Check the third image here, where you can add the CPU to the GPU's for OpenCL/Path method:
    http://carraracafe.com/plugins/luxuscore-for-carrara-plugin-unofficial-manual-2015-02-15/

Try the beta, it is free: http://carraracafe.com/plugins/luxuscore-for-carrara-plugin-unofficial-manual-2015-02-15/
Seems to work better with AMD cards so far.

    thanks for the replies, guys.

I've installed the pro version now. Sorry for being so noobish, but where do i find the joint editor tool?

When you engage the Joint Editor the Translation tool changes and gives you a red and a green gizmo. It is just case of moving these to where you want them, with your mouse, just grap and move and release.

Thanks it help my, but i have next questions.
    1) Exist here a tool (I now use daz studio 4,6 & 4,8) where i can set the rotation axis as center of gravity ?
I need rotate triangle (not equilateral) along a central axis, but it is difficult to find manually.

    2) Is here a hotkey, that adheres the object to integers of rotation . My english bad, i mean 0° 90° 180° 360° etc ...

    Thanks!

Sure :) I did the same thing- I usually check Members and Commons and if it's not there I'll post it. And I email the moderators first so they don't have to search for info like this that needs immediate attention.

As of 9:53 pm Central, it's still not fixed in the gallery. (cart is still doing okay I assume.)

    (just wondering)

Just over $2000, if you shop.

That's still 4-6 times worth (or more) of monthly rent for most of us here.

I wish I lived where you do. $500 a month here in the Seattle area is a garbage can. With no lid. Plus utilities. ;)

Tell me about it. I moved from central PA to western WA 10 years ago, which doubled the cost of housing.
I'm now about to move to the Bay Area... doubling the cost of housing again...

Arghhhh... Landlady collected rent today and indicated the renters in the other half of the house are moving out and that she might be selling the house I live in. I hate change. She said she'd try to put in a clause in the sales contract to let me stay at my same rent that I've been paying for the last 7 years but I can't rely on that.

I've taken a peek at possibly moving to a trailer in Florida but I'm allergic to hurricanes. But I am getting really really tired of snow up here. I hate to think about packing and transporting stuff 1200 miles again, and changing doctors and dealing with Florida problems like bugs, heat and rust. So I don't know what to do. Just when my life was beginning to run smoothly (except for the $@%##$#$ snow.)

...in the same boat here. However rents here in Portland are becoming outrageous considering that most people here don't make 40,000+$ a year. Even a shoebox studio can go for as much as 800$ sans utilities. Waiting lists for low income units are upwards of two years or more as the upscale developers see there is no profit in building them. One friend just moved out of his place where he was paying 850$ a month for a small slightly run down 1BR flat. He learned that not only is the landlord is raising the rent to 1,300$/mo but there is already a hipster couple already willing to pay that and move in. It isn't even in a fancy upscale neighbourhood.

It's no wonder Portland has such a large homeless population.

I've actually got a sweet deal here. It's the town I grew up in, the weather has snow and cold in the winter but we don't get major floods, major tornados, earthquakes, sinkholes, forest fires, fireants, poisonous snakes, alligators, sharks, hurricanes, or water or air pollution. We have plenty of water, and good Internet connections. If things get really bad there's enough land along with this house with rich fertile dirt to grow a real garden for food like everybody did here when I was a kid. I have a one bedroom apartment. My rent is only $400 with utilities (elec, water, gas) included. My biggest complaints are the cold and snow, no shelter for my car, dirt/mud sloping driveway, and parochial mentality of the natives.

The trailer park I'm looking at in Florida is really rather nice. My father and step-mother lived there before they died. It's neat, clean, paved streets, community center, swimming pool, within walking distance (2-blocks) to a medium sized shopping center for groceries, restaurants, bank, etc. No hills to navigate. I swore I'd never live among ancient people but now that I've been one for a while, I can see its advantages as long as I can avoid learning to play canasta. The park is not near the ocean so no salt corrosion to deal with, it's along the central ridge of the state so no risk of river floods or tidal waves. Orlando is only an hour away, Tampa is 1.5 hours away, Miami is 3 hours away. I have several relatives my own age already living in Florida within a couple hours drive. However, it is possible the Earth could open up and swallow me, or a hurricane could throw my trailer into the next county. I just need to finish my research to figure out my bottom line cost to live there and what it would cost to move there.

...hmmm after my experience living in the Midwest, trailer parks tend to have big bullseyes on them when it comes to those twisty funnels from the sky. Guess they're not so common in Florida, but aren't there gators, big cockroaches, poisonous snakes, high humidity, and isn't Orlando in the "Lightning Belt?

Don't want to end up in some assisted living "tomb" (even though a I do have memory lapses), or I'll most likely wind up up much like the character Tom Ballard from the series Waiting For God (just need to find a "Diana" to wreak havok with).

Spent time the past week or two finding temporary shelter for rough sleepers, you guys take care of yourselves please :)

Obviously they care little for 1st and 3rd shift workers. Even the Wife thinks that's lame.

    baldorvadras said:
Thanks again. It is a relief to see that, for what I need, I should only invest in a good CPU. 8GB RAM seems enough, but since it is cheap a little more can't harm.

What about the ability to work a scene on the laptop and then render it on the desktop? Is that possible? Is there anyway to share a scene between 2 computers?
The simple solution, but more time consuming, would be to save the scene from the laptop, transfer the save file to the desktop, open it there and render. But I would like a faster way if there exists one.

    Cheers

Faster way is to have all the content in a central location...usually a NAS (network attached storage) device. You have both machines map that as a content drive and use it to save scene files. Then it's just a matter of opening it on one or the other machine.

Another way, is to use the 'Export to RIB' render option, with the standalone 3Delight.

I always thought usefulness is worthwhile for artists to explore possibilities. Almost all of my sets have some individual component building blocks that can be torn apart, moved, repositioned, and used separately with each other or tossed into other sets completely. Not quite a lego set, but hopefully enough versatility to trigger some creative outside the original box visuals,

In this image, I placeed the central part of the Ridgewalk with the CaveWater entrance against the Secluded Shoreline.

Not just worthwhile. Mandatory, for those of us doing sequential art.
Just like doors that open so our characters can walk through them.
You make sets that a character can walk through whether interior or exterior.
All your work is must have for me.

That's the Central District Subway, which has an underground portion that has probably seen more render use than the above-ground portion. :)

I joined just a few weeks before that was released, and I think it was one of the pieces that led off my first March Madness, which is why it sticks out in my memory...

I could very easily get head-slapped by the admin again for violating TOS but let's see if I can walk the narrow fence.

The world is populated with plants, animals and Human Beings. Some animals claim to be Human Beings but their behavior says otherwise.

Exposing yourself on public sites like YouTube is like striping naked in Grand Central Station. You're going to get some applause, some whistles, some cat-calls, some laughter, some creep fondling you, and you may possibly be arrested (as I look around quickly for an approaching admin). Lowering your expectations to accommodate this spectrum of behavior is the only defense that won't drive you bonkers.

Treasure the few Human Beings you actually encounter in your lifetime.

I Would rather render than spend all my time looking through forum posts. But I can be lazy that way.
