Now, if only If I can figure out how to merge  a diffeo rigified face rig with and auto rig pro body and keep my ability to import Facial animation from Anilip/Daz etc. I will be complete.

So does CC4 and Iclone not rig it properly or something?  I'm just curious.

    @SasquatchIsCool

No, the rigs work fine for animation  but there are no automatic Joint control morphs and you lose alot of the clothing details when you shape project a genesis figure onto an Iclone avatar in CC3/4.

Given all of the advances that Diffeo has made with retaining the fidelity of all imported daz content,

and the fact that I can retarget ALL of my various mocap sources directly inside of blender to rigified G8 figures,

I have no need to actually export a genesis to iclone/CC anymore.

Just got it and it works great with Modo.

I do have wish for a 1 button "Freeze smooth" also. We all know the problems when the figure intersect with clothes and other stuff when smooth is on. What I do now is export with smooth on. The turn it off and import the smooth OBJ and then I can pose the limbs without hands and feet get tangled with the clothes.

Would it be posible to add that?

  • Transferring Vertex Groups (Hair Particle System workflow)

Make your particle hair on a separate mesh and then wrap/parent that mesh to the character.  This is pretty common practice.  Many hair styles that you import will already have the hair attached to a separate mesh, often called the 'scalp' for head hair.  You can then import the 'scalp' mesh into another project and it will bring the particle system along.

Very nice, seen and bought! I make my (few) morphs in Hexagon until now because the fiddle-iness of the DAZ/Blender import has kept me away from really getting to know Blender, although I'm aware its features are far superior. So hopefully, this'll help me change over!

I move back and forth a lot to and from Blender, so trying to decide if this will be worth it for me.

I wrote it for that scenario mainly, so I would recommend it. But I'm slightly biased. :-)

It's useful for any scenario that involves OBJ export or import with Morph Loader Pro or both. It doesn't require Blender, but it's useful with it.

  • [Released] OBJ Companion [Commercial]

Hello everybody, I'm back with a new product!

The OBJ Companion is a plugin for Daz Studio 4.15 and above that makes creating morphs using OBJ files easier.

    https://www.daz3d.com/obj-companion

If your favorite modeling software (e.g. Blender) does not have an import/export bridge, exporting from Daz Studio and importing using Morph Loader Pro involves a lot of clicks. And if you get one of these clicks wrong, Morph Loader Pro will tell you "geometry did not match" on import. In the worst case, this can mean that hours of modeling work have been wasted.

The OBJ Companion adds a new pane to Daz Studio with two big buttons for "export" and "import", which can reduce the number of required clicks by a factor of 10 or more and greatly reduce the potential of getting one of the settings wrong. The workflow becomes very simple:

    1. Select scene nodes to be exported
    2. Press "export" button on "OBJ Companion" pane and adjust default options if necessary
    3. Work on the exported OBJ in your modeler (e.g. Blender) and export modified OBJ
    4. Pick modified OBJ in OBJ Companion again and press "import" - Done!

The OBJ Companion eliminates typical export errors that can cause import to fail later by switching to base resolution; hiding the Genesis "eyelashes" and "tear" nodes; hiding rigid follow nodes on clothing; hiding geometry shells and geografts. It also temporarily unparents the selected nodes.

You can even export multiple OBJs in one go with automatic naming by using naming templates.

This will make creating morphs for Daz Studio a lot more fun!

  • Transferring Daz Content To New PC: Can I Essentially Just Copy & Paste

You will lose any metadata until you reimport, and any custom metadata unless you open Content DB Maintenenance on the old machine (the Content Library option menu) and select Export user data before copying the folders from the old machine. Groups, such as the New flag, will be lost unless you copy the whole database across.

Dime stoes the list of installed files in - by default - the manifests folder in its Public Documents folder. Those do record the exact location of the files, so unless you are using exactly the same location on both machines it will not be able to uninstall the old files if you need to (unless you use a text editor to edit them)

    Hey thanks for the info.

Out of interest, what would be the downside of losing metadata?

You'd lose files showing in Smart Content, Presets tabs of property panes, Categories and Products in the content Library pane, at least some functionaility in AutoFit, and probably other things that I am not recalling right now.

Also I do plan on copying over the manifest folder from my old machine to the new one (to the same location etc). Will things work as intended if I do that properly?

The question is whether the content iss till in the same place on the old machine as it was on the old. It would be if you used the default location in the public Documents folder, but might not be for a custom location.

    Cheers :)

Thanks for clearing that up for me mate, really appreciate it! Okie dokie, I'll definitely try to export the metadata then :)

In regard to locations, everthing is in the default locations on my current machine so I'll definitely keep that the same for the new one.

    Thanks again :)

$900 USD initial buying for new users of IClone 8 &CC4( Both are needed for genesis "import"& animation)

And this is what you get with a Diffeo import to Blender verses an Iclone CC3/4 imported via the Blender pipeline tool.indecision

Are you still logging in to DS? If you are, DS is calling home on it's own, "updating" metadata on the products you have bought and judging by the amount of posts and problems, new users are easily tricked into installing the products the second time within DS => The DIM installation do not matter or work, as any installation done within DS overrides all the other installation methods, even when the installations done within DS are corrupted (happens quite often) and don't work.
Set your startup options as in the attachment, and if you have installed anything within DS, uninstall them all within DS.

Ok so I am on another round of complete uninstall EVERYTHING associated with DAZ and starting fresh...AGAIN...
I am going to try your post(or this new tower may become a new planter)
Also, I know 2tb is a snack. I have my old tower will all my old poser stuff and daz stuff and Ihave more than one external for it. That is just for the "gallery finished" folder of the folders with the finished jpg, the files for opening it in which ever 3d prog was used to create it etc. I have a external coming that is 5tb.
But for now, as a fresh new start(if it ever works) 2TB will do the job spiify for now.
    Finger crossed...Starting fresh AGAIN.....

EDIT: my main goal is to not be constantly connected to the net on the new tower. It is suppose to be dedicated purely for graphic work. I was told that DS can work offline.

  • Import animation from blender into daz

    Thanks.

I want to import daz characters to Blender, animate them and then export the animation back to DAZ studio for rendering.

So feet jittering is still an issue?

From reading the thread on bitbucket and here I got the impression that it was solved and only the issue with the feet not zeroed to the floor remained.

It's a shame that DAZ hasn't solved the issue yet. I mean the issue is several years old and they update their DAZ/Blender bridge regularly but seem to neglect the reimport function.

I am looking into Cascadeur now.

Maybe I don't have that reimport issue there.

@SofaCitizen, I did try another experiment.

This time around added some free props from Polyhaven, the ones I got I had to import the FBX files, these were at least no problem at all, the material could not be applied.

Then I tried to put an HDRI file via Daz Studio, I used Iray and previewed it, nothing in the background to see through the windows.

I can't undertand why it does not show up the image in the background.

Next time, I will tinkering with the image via GIMP.

If I remember very well, you got a Dog, a Girl and a autility car, the highway was probably a background picture isn't; your work ended up in the gallery.

I still got bad luck and no suitable work done for the gallery.

    Just let me know.

Check in the Render/Environment settings - there will be an option called "Show dome" or something to that effect that needs to be enabled for the HDRI to actually be displayed - I can't check properly as I am still at work.  By default the HDRI is only setup to provide lighting and so you do need to change the setting for it to actually appear in the render.

For that render I used the Forest Road environment product to provide the highway and trees etc and so I don't think there was a visible HDRI behind it. I have done a few practice/training renders with visible HDRIs in the background - I will post one in a few hours when I finish work.

EDIT: OK, the setting is actually "Draw Dome" - make sure that is set to On if you cannot see it in the render.

On the examples in stuff I have already done - there is a HDRI that is a little visible in the below render but only in the top-right corner between the trees.

There is a better example in the one I did for the freebie challenge as the HDRI is providing the view out of the window.

  • About shape keys slidebar's error

    Hi,
I import the character from "DAZ to blender", like the video below

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/1ENpJY5VzGfrV167S0okPblYo_6oIxqK9/view?usp=sharing

When I slide the bar, "can't edit drive number value see graph editor for the driver setup" will appear at the bottom.

Who knows how to solve this problem? Adjust in drivers editor?frown

    Thank you guyssmiley

Thanks, it has the same issue. When using with this code something from the default content folder in daz studio like the included shader:

    var sRelativePath="Shader Presets/Iray/DAZ Uber/!Iray Uber Base.duf";

It works and will find it.
But if searching for a duf file in a different content folder the return array is always empty. My guess is daz possible uses a database for each content folder with the asset manager from App.getAssetMgr(); working (at least per default) only on the first database.

The script will specifically find all products that contain an asset with a given relative path in the database, it will then iterate over each product the assets were found in to build a full list, then iterate over each asset in those products and dump information about any asset with the same relative path in the context of that product. If you read the code and the comments you should be able to follow what it is doing.

You could also use DzAssetMgr::findAssetsForFile() if you prefer to come at it from the other direction, yielding an array of database results - the context of the product a given asset belongs to is still important to understanding where a given piece of metadata came from.

DzAssetMgr is for working with database records while DzContentMgr is for working with paths on disc. The former will help only to find assets for files that have been added to the database.

  • General (*Is this program any good to use*)

I think Daz3D is a bit of a gateway drug, so to speak, that helps you get your feet wet and maybe understand some 3d "concepts", and make cool art as well.
Daz3d, in my experience, is kind of like getting a modestly stocked "Play Room"... you get an area to play in, toybox, a generic "boy" and "girl" doll, and some basic clothing.  You can make some interesting art, and do some customizing on how those dolls look within Daz (fatter, thinner, taller, shorter, bigger nose, pointy ears... ).
And you can find "free" assets, which are like different toy sets, to add to your collection.  Daz (and several other companies) act like gigantic toy malls were artist make things to sell and Daz is kind of like a middle man for that.
There are other 3D programs that act like more "toy factories" where you can make what you want... lets say, a backpack in the shape of an alligator, and then use it in that program OR import it into Daz3d to use.
One of the good things about Daz is its free... download it and run it to see what it is about.
Most of your questions can be answered here... my guess is a lot of them have already been asked, so you might look through the forums first if you have questions, but the forum-ites are usually a very helpful bunch.
