  • Rune 7 - looks same-old-same-old disappointing

I think you guys are being a bit harsh.

I'm seeing some nice muscle tone and vasculatrity here. Maybe not the exact vein you where wanting but adding that in is pretty easy. And I think with the right settings the veins and muscle-tone will really pop and take a more center stage. I'm kind of loving this figure. I just wish I could aford to get her. lol

    Not really.

More of the same; I haven't bought the last few as they didn't bring anything new. I bought the first 6 bundles for G3, after that it was more of the same and 7 series characters are expensive.

The only Genesis 3 items I have are the head and body morph packs and the super cheap Victoria 7 Pro Pack Promo and even then I have not used any of the characters that came with the pro pack..  The last thing I bought here was the G3 to G2 Autofit clone product and that was nearly 2 months ago..  There has been very little that floats my boat on here now and with all the latest G3 characters having very little variation in them makes you wonder if they have run out of ideas..  About the only ones that seemed to have any originality as were never done before (I think) are Kalea 7 and Kimo 7, but even with those I do not plan to ever go all in with G3..

I'm gonna agree here. For the G2 figures, there seemed to be a significant difference in body/facial structure to justify the additional figure purchases. But for G3, all the characters look very similar to me.

Yeah never thought about that but they all do look the same with very little to differentiate between them..

  • Rune 7 - looks same-old-same-old disappointing

I never partake in these discussions but have to admit I fought my urge to buy the bundle because the items that come with her, and even Rune herself, are not appealing to me.  As mentioned, the 'sub characters' are...well, meh...nothing special, already have a bunch of clones with the only thing different between them is a slight difference in options.  I'd much prefer to buy packs of LIE presets so I can build my own "look" for a character, then a couple packs of head and body morph packs again for self made characters.  Then I get the look I want every time.

I didn't even buy any of the hair or outfits from this bundle cuz been there done that with Olympia and Gia and another bunch of 'whatzername' gals.

Last pack for the gals I bought was MeiLin 7 ProBundle, cuz Hello!!!!  She's gorgeous and the outfits and hair were awesome and she's ETHNIC, not another plain vanilla girl with the same bored look on her face!

Didn't buy Kalea, but bought Kimo Pro bundle cuz it's a good looking ETHNIC character with that gorgeous big fluffy hair that I can also use on my gals!  His clothes are good for other guys too.  So give me a 'Build a Bloke' pack that was mentioned in another thread and I'll be on my way!

  • Where to find expression controls on genesis 2 and 3?

I will keep digging through the morph dials. I DO have the head and body morphs for both G3 and G2.

The expressions aren't under morphs. Go to the Parameters pane; you'll find Pose Controls near the bottom. If the Parameters pane isn't showing, right-click in the gray border where the other panes are showing, and select Parameters from the drop-down list.

  • Custom morph files under Shaping / Posing tab?

    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/interface/panes/shaping/start

    Permission Denied

Sorry, you don't have enough rights to continue.

    ______

I'm googling about and found this thread and that link above. reading this thread and it's just not sinking in.

I made a clothing item in Hexagon sent to DS with the bridge. Got it set up as a figure saved using Save as -> Support Asset -> Figure/Prop Assets

Now I made several morphs for it using Hexagon and sending them back to DS with the bridge.

I just noticed the dozen morphs I made are in the Parameters tab but are not showing in the shaping tab.

Is there a way to just go into the data folders morph folder and copy all those morph files and paste them into a shaping location? if so where is it?

If I got to do all this manually would someone please give me a few screen shots with instructions on how to get my morphs from the parameters tab to show up in the shaping tab?

    thanks in advance

  • Caveman Loincloth

I used the destroyer loin cloth in a project, but there's also the freya one which I've not used yet.

Anyway, the best way to handle these is to take an item like the GenX dress (I specifically use this one because it has seperate bones for posing along the front and back flaps) and do a rigging transfer from the dress to the loin cloth.

Then what I did was parent the loing cloth to the hip of the figure, scince it was going to be posed seperately anyway.

Otherwise, if you do an autofit then you are likely to end up where the sides of the cloth are "stuck" to the legs and the middle warps as you pose the character about.

  • Childe of Fyre - Freebies

Gosh, I guess I've sort of neglected this thread for a while - sorry, folks. I've got a bunch of new(ish) stuff that's been added to the website in the last few months. I figured I would just resurrect this thread, rather tha posting a whole bunch of individual threads for everything. Anyway, that said... I shut down my Content Paradise store a few months ago, as I've been transitioning to another place. In looking at what I had over there, a lot of it was much older items for things like the Gen4 figures (V4/M4). A lot of these older items are in the process of being moved into my freebies section now. I've gotten three of them moved, and others will come soon as well.
For the sake of convenience, the item names will be links directly to their own individual download pages. Download links are always located at the BOTTOM of my item pages on my website. If you want to actually get to the main door of my website, you can just go right HERE. My site is coded in frames, and while the individual item pages will get you the downloads you want, you won't be able to navigate around the rest of the site without first going back home. I keep meaning to update the item pages with a home link, but well.. after 10 years, it's a LOT of pages to update.... LOL.

A quick note on the navigation of my website:
Those who are familiar with it already know this, but for new folks who maybe haven't seen it before - the category links are all located on the left hand side of the page. You click on the category, and then the thumbnails will load into the right frame. Newer items are always added at the BOTTOM of these category pages, so if you're looking to see if I've added something new, just scroll the category page down and you will see that the younger items are located further down. Item pages themselves, when clicked on from the thumbnails, will open in a new window/tab in your browser, so that you don't lose the navigation of the main site. I know I really need to update my site, but I just haven't had the time, and there is a LOT of pages and such to build/update. It's an undertaking that I just haven't had time or energy to do yet. LOL

My standard Usage Rights/Terms of Use are as follows :
    - Commercial renders are perfectly OK.
    - NO redistribution of the original zip file contents. (Your own original texture add-ons are fine, of course, since they're your work.)
    - NO usage allowed in Second Life for ANY reason, or in ANY way.
    - If an item has a different set of Usage Rights associated with it, I'll make a note of it when I post it. Otherwise, you can pretty much assume that the above are what I would expect for any of my items.

So, in the group of things that have been moved into my freebies from the old store content (these are things that I didn't want to completely retire, but just couldn't consider being market quality nowadays for one reason or another) :

    1.) Nathaniel for M4
    - Full character package. Skin with multiple options, and INJ/REMs for morphs.
    - Located under CHARACTERS on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Requires Michael 4 and his Morphs++
    2.) COF Village Variety
    - This was the commercial pack of the Village Girl dress textures that I did.
    - Located under CLOTHING on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Includes 14 dress textures.
    - Note : Some will work better than others inside of Studio. These were made back when I was using Poser 7, so some of them do mix in Poser procedurals, and DazStudio artists will need to manually adjust those parts of the materials.
    - Second Note : I did, way back when, do a smaller freebie pack for this dress also, which contained four different textures. You can find that older freebie HERE.
    - Requires Evil Innocence's "Village Girl" dress. (I've been told the textures work on both the V4 and Cookie versions of the dress.)

And then some of the newly added items...........

1.) Zero Poses for M4, V4, and K4 (Poser Version)
    - Includes 17 full and partial utility reset poses for all three of the Gen4 figures.
    - Poser format; files are .pz2
    - Located in POSES, on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Requires M4, K4, or V4.

2.) Zero Poses for M4, V4, and K4 (Daz Studio Version)
    - Includes the same 17 full and partial utility/reset poses.
    - Located in POSES, on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - I know Daz Studio has the easy to reach "zero figure" thing in it's interface, but sometimes I just want to rest a single hand, or one leg... so I made these for my own use and I figured I would share them in case others find them helpful.
    - Files will only work in DS 4.x; they are in .DUF format. If you use DS3, just grab the Poser version.
    - Requires M4, K4, or V4

3.) Zero Poses for Hivewire's Dawn, Dusk, and Baby Luna (Poser Version)
    - Includes 14 full and partial utility reset/zero poses for each figure.
    - Located in POSES on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Files are in Poser .pz2 format.
    - Requires Dawn, Dusk, or Baby Luna.

4.) Zero Poses for Hivewire's Dawn, Dusk, and Baby Luna (Daz Studio Version)
    - Includes the same 14 full and partial utility reset poses.
    - Located in POSES on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Requires Dawn, Dusk, or Baby Luna.

5.) Christmas Turtleneck for the Genesis Family of Figures (Daz Studio ONLY)
    - Includes 1 conformer turtleneck for Genesis 1, G2F, G2M, G3F, and G3M
    - Includes 7 textures, multiple opacity presets (they affect ONLY the opacity channel), multiple material zones for customization, and 29 adjustment and fitting morphs.
    - I originally made this turtleneck as part of Fantasy Attic's Chrismtas Giveaway this past December. You can find the other Christmas freebies HERE.
    - Located in CLOTHING on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Files are in .DUF format
    - Requires Daz Studio 4.x, and any one of the Genesis figures.

6.) Christmas Turtleneck for the Hivewire Figures (Daz Studio ONLY)
    - Includes 1 conformer turtleneck for Hivewire's Dusk and Dawn. Conversion from the original Genesis family item.
    - Includes 7 textures, multiple opacity presets (they affect ONLY the opacity channel), multiple material zones for customization, and 29 adjustment and fitting morphs.
    - Located in CLOTHING on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Files are in .duf format.
    - Requires Daz Studio 4.x, and either Dusk or Dawn.

7.) Hanging File/Mail Holder (Daz Studio and OBJ)
    - Includes one Daz Studio prop, and 1 OBJ, MTL, and UVs
    - Located under PROPS in the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - This is a LOW poly prop for background use; it was just practice for me as I keep working on learning how to use Blender.
    - Has multiple colors.
    - Requires Daz Studio 4.x for the DS prop, or any software that can use OBJ files for the .obj mesh.
    - Note for Poser users : The label inverts itself when the prop is brought into Poser, so make sure you select "Flip Normals" in the material room. Also, for some reason, any text I put on the UVmap for the label displays itself backwards in Poser. It does not do ANY of this in Daz Studio, and I have no idea at this juncture on how to fix it.

8.) Tutorial : Saving Pose Presets in DS4
    - This is a tutorial that I originally posted on a forum, and have since converted to PDF format.
    - Located under TUTORIALS on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Requires DS 4.x, and a figure or pose that you wish to save to the library.
    - Level : Beginner
    - Usage Rights note : I do allow redistribution of my tutorials, provided the content of the tutorial remains unchanged.

    9.) Tutorial : Basic Lights in DS4
    - This is another tutorial that I had originally posted on a forum, and have since converted it to PDF format. It covers the basics of working with DS standard/default Infinite and Spot lights.
    - Located under TUTORIALS on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Requires DS 4.x
    - Level : Beginner
    - Usage Rights note : I do allow redistribution of my tutorials, provided the content of the tutorial remains unchanged.

10.) Tutorial : Using the Gen X Plugin for Daz Studio
    - This is a very big tutorial. Comes in two formats : Screenshot JPG's, and a very long .RTF text file. Screenshot version will be faster; rtf text file is a LONG read.
    - Covers the following : CR2 export, Converting from V3/M3 or V4/M4 to Genesis 1, Converting from Genesis 1 to G2F/G2M, Converting from G2F/G2M to Genesis 1, Converting morph dials only.
    - Located under TUTORIALS on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Requires DS, the GenX plugin, and any additional add-on packs for the conversions you wish to do.
    - Level : Beginner, possibly on the lower end of Intermediate.
    - Usage Rights note : I do allow redistribution of my tutorials, provided the content of the tutorial remains unchanged.

    11.) COF Earthen (Merchant Resource)
    - Includes 6 raw photos, 6 seamless tile versions of the photos, 6 bump maps (for seamless tiles only), and 6 normal maps (for seamless tiles only)
    - YES, these can be used for commercial products, as part of a UV map
    - YES, these can be used for FREE products, as part of a UV map
    - Located under MISC. TEXTURES on the LEFT hand side navigation menu.
    - Requires any image editor that can work with jpgs, pngs, etc.

Whew! Okay, uhm... I think that pretty much catches up with everything I might or might not, have or have not remembered or not remembered to post in here. LOL. Some of these items are newer than others. Sorry, guys. I'll try to stay more up to date with this thread in the future. LOL

The item names will take you straight to the item's own download page. I attached the main item images for a few of these freebies.
My main website, for those interested in what else I have beyond the things listed here, is located here (just click past the splash image) :

    Have fun, folks. :)

  • How to manually upgrade a manual installation of Studio 4.9?
When the new version uninstalls the current version, will it record and transfer preferences and content locations, etc, to the new version?

There's nothing to record or transfer — the new version uses exactly the same settings files that the older version created. And yes, this is why uninstalling/reinstalling is almost never the solution to any problem involving settings glitches; the uninstall doesn't delete the old files, so they pop right back up again when you reinstall.

  • Locking a morph

I know you can lock perameters so they can't be accidentally changed, but what about a morph or dial-spun character? Sometimes applying a pose messes or even erases the morphs and I'd like to prevent this because sometimes I don't even notice for some time.

  • Shoes morphs help

So you want it at 0 at 52.5 and 1 at -40? That's a little trickier - you constant would need to be adjusted to 1 - 40/(52.5 - -40) then your scalar to -1/(52.5 - -40) (you want to work out the range of values over which the morph is varying, 52.5 - -40 which 52.5 + 40 which is 92.5) then you want the sum of the two links to be 1 when the rotation is adding -40 * -1 / (52.5 - -40) so you take that off the constant value).

  • Gen3 'Growing Up' - Hideous deforms after new DAZ update......

This type of deformation occurs when scaling morphs are no longer "in sync" with the joint parameters. I just loaded g3f amd applied Growing Up preset 5-6 (note that this is not so much "adding" new morphs as setting existing morph values to be non-zero.). I then saved the file and reloaded, but I don't see the problem deformations. I am using DS4.9.2.70. Probably, as Richard indicated, one of the other morphs you are using is causing this effect. Have you made your own morph in Zbrush or similar program? Normally if you use GoZ it takes care of these issues. However if you exported a scale morphed figure as an object to another program to make a new morph and reloaded the obj file as a morph, then the scaling info is lost and results in the joint parameters being wrong and causing the strange deformations.

Try zeroing each morph you have applied one by one and see which one causes the problem. (the fingers should snap back to normal if you zero the guilty morph)

  • Cookie and Chip

With these pre-genesis figure types, I don't think the transfer utility can be used at all. What I remember is that to make something conforming (or Unimesh fits as they were called in the day for the DAZ standard figures' morphs), you had to somehow copy the figure's morphs to the clothing item. There are two ways to do this. 1. Use a tool like Morphing Clothes at rendo. This is actually one of the better solutions as you can continue using the old formats and the morph transfers work really well. 2. Right click on your figure in the viewport and select "Transfer Active Morphs". The problem here is that it'll only transfer ACTIVE morphs as the name implies. I don't think DAZ ever bothered to change this to transfer all morphs because a figure can have a LOT of morphs and figuring out which ones to transfer would be tedious I guess. Oh, and there's a bug in DAZ Studio (at least every time I tried it) where you can only transfer active morphs if you have a single clothing item fitted on the figure. If you have two or more clothing items, unfit them first. And even then, there's no guarantee it'll work. But it at least has a CHANCE of working. You have nearly zero chance of it working with 2+ clothing items.

I wonder if it's possible to convert the figure to a newer type of figure and have morphs automatically be applied like in G1+ figures.

Is it not possible to make conforming clothing in DS for Cookie & Chip? The transfer utility doesn't recognise the figure and I don't know enough about Studio's arcane functions to go beyond that point.

Thanks, guys. I really like Cookie & Chip so I was thinking about making a bunch of outfits for them but wow what a headache. I guess I'll just stick with making one off items.

  • Peach Fuzz! Facial Vellus Hair for G3F (Just Released)

    Bee,

I just tried using the autofit and it did not give an option to choose the original G3F character. So I would imagine you would need the G3F mannequin for G2F in order for it to fit properly?

I caved in and bought it, but unfortunately, the transfer from G3 to G2 is not working, even with the mannequin. sad

I'm not sure I will keep the product under these circumstances, like I said, I am doing mostly G2 renders, and don't plan to go to G3 any time soon.

Other than that, the hair is a really great idea, and a great product from what I can see. On G3F, it works beautifully.
