  • Kenji 7 - Discuss

Well I got off the fence and made my first ever Genesis3 purchase, picking up the Kenji starter bundle.  I also picked up the Gen X2 latest plugins for Genesis3, but I must be doing something wrong, since I keep trying to transfer the shape to Genesis1 but the only thing that seems to actually transfer is the belly button.  I've been studying the documentation for GenX2 but not sure where I'm going wrong (I already had GenX2 and the plugin for Genesis2, so I should have all I need in the tool to make this work),  I'll keep tinkering, and may end up having to post a query for help on the GenX2 thread.  But I'm stoked to have Kenji in my possession, even if I haven't quite figured how to get him onto my Genesis1 yet.

Congratulations on the move to G3! I think you'll be happy. I've enjoyed the small out of G3 content I have and definitely see myself moving forward with using more and more G3 content. I've been insanely happy with Victoria 7 and hope to get some of the G3F and G3M morphs as soon as they go on sale (assuming I have the money at the time lol). :)

As for the GenX2, from what I've read about the product, in order to go to G3 you need all three of these products:

    http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-generation-x2

    http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-2

    http://www.daz3d.com/genx2-addon-for-genesis-3

Sadly I can't afford to go that route unless these go on a deep deep sale some day.

Problem is me and Jon work in Carrara that is not able to use G3 yet.

  • How do I make a full body morph and save it?

    Probably a stupid question, but...

Trying to use Gen X2 to put the Kenji7 shape onto Genesis1.  The problem is there isn't really a shaping morph for Kenji 7 that I can find, instead there's a parameter inside of G3M to dial up or down Kenji7, and I think I need to save that out as a shapinp morph in the menu so that I have something to put into GenX2 as the 'shaping pose'.  Ironically I can already use GenX2 to save Satori (a character morph of Kenji) onto Genesis1 with no trouble, simply because in the character folder tor Satori there is both a head and body shaping morph preset.  But nothing like that seems to exist for the standard Kenji7, so I'm wondering if there is a way for me to save it/create it myself.

  • *How to Put a Morph (ERC) Dial on a Pose*

I think it's Enhanced Remote Control, and it gives the user a slider so that gradations of the expression can be attained (like a morph dial). This way many expressions can be combined with each other to get subtle nuances rather than being stuck with the usually over-the-top expression you get from one-click.

    Thanks.

  • *How to Put a Morph (ERC) Dial on a Pose*

    This is good news!

I have lots of useless expressions that either change the base morph, or apply so much of the morph that the character looks like a freak.

These dials can make the difference between a useful product and a waste of cash.

I hope this is a new trend!

  • Using GenX - How do I just transfer just a Head morph from M4 To Gen 3 Male?

I can't figure out how to get just the head morph and not the body.

The .PDF really does not fully explain what to do with the morph check boxes, or how to extract specific targetted morphs.

I am really baffled on how to transfer any Freak 4 or Girl 4 morphs, or how to use this tool with private parts.

This product really needs some decent, indepth, tutorials. I know it can be useful, but the order of operations is not intuitive.

Can anyone direct me to any useful tutorials, that could give me a clue on how to use GenX, for doing individual body part transfers, and not the typical, single, full character morph?

    Thanks!

Thread previously entitled "ironman13 Includes ERC Dials in New Expression Set"

That's right. The most prolific expression (OK, most prolific anything) artist included ERC dials on her latest expression set. Joining the ranks of Diane (who has been doing so for a long time) and Zeddicuss (who converted this year), ironman13 has given the user built-in flexibility with her expressions. You can always make your own, but it's a hassle. Here's hoping this is a new policy of hers and not just a one-off.

  • GenX2 Update / Genesis 3 Add-On [Commercial]

Hi, I have a (probably pretty stupid) question.  I'm trying to put take Kenji 7's shape and put it on Genesis1, but I'm running into difficulty.

Ironically I can put Sasori (a character morph for Kenji7) onto Genesis1 with very little problem, because there are poses for the shape in the Sasori character folder.  But since I can't seem to find any pose files for Kenji (except in the parameters within G3M itself) I can't seem to find any way to figure out how to transfer the Kenji shape.  The most I seem to get is that I when I max out the kenji 7 parameter dial on my Genesis1, that a belly button appears, not much else (I tried simply dragging and dropping the Kenji7 base character into the pose channel in Gen X2, which is probably not the way to do it).

Is there some way I can pull up a G3M, dial in the Kenji 7 shape, and save it as a pose file that I can then use in Gen X2 to transport into Genesis1?

I am interested in the Chase for G3M character but the store page says 3 other products are required, none of which I currently own.  Are these other 3 products really required?

Yes, you need all these 3 morph products to have Chase work correctly.
    Cheers

marktresidder_546a885e49: Open the DSF file for the morph in a text editor (you may need to uncompress it first) and look for the keyword "presentation". There should be a line "type" next, which has to be followed by "Modifier/Shape" to declare the dial as a morph.

Citizen217: The actual installers should be available both in DIM and under "product library" in your DAZ account.

Butch: The tutorial you linked to is about the transfer utility, not about GenX. When you transfer a morph with GenX, it is listed in the "Shape" tab for the figure automatically, no need to apply it.

  • Newbie trying to make custom Morphs

    Hello All,

Please Bear with me..im using gen3female little ones as a base for a character i wanna make...Id like to make the morphs in 3dsmax or mudbox...i Managed to do that and reimported using morph loader pro..but I thought that i could still use the Original Morphing Dial from Gen3 to make this character talk for example...obviously this has not worked at all :(:(..if you see i dialled "F" viseme but the lip goes berserk... Obvsiouly I didnt import correctly the Morph created in 3dsmax..i mean if i just want to CHANGE the overall shape its fine..it works..but i cant use daz visemes or any other morph to further tweak it shape...

What's the right workflow to make a Custom Morph and have that New Morph work correctly with existing ones? see file attached

  • Import two objs and turn them into a pseudo-morphing prop.

If the 'blades' only need to move along a straight line as they extend, then just use your modeller to put them all into one single object, and make a single "extend" morph.  If they need more complex motion, ignore morphs and rig them.

Maybe you're thinking of IgnisSerpentus' Mane Attraction here at Daz? http://www.daz3d.com/mane-attraction I don't have this product, but I know that IgnisSerpentus is a top-knotch vendor with remarkable products all the way!

I myself use Biscuits Hair Merchant Resource from Rendo: https://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/?ViewProduct=77613 Lots of fun, multiple high-res diffuse tiling textures, trans maps or alphas, hair borders, and $10.95 regular price.

    --MW

P.S. Thanks for your G3F nail shapes morphs. My G3F needed claws, and I couldn't transfer any morphs over successfully with Genx2, so your freebie package filled my need!

Unfortunately, the Biscuits Hair Merchant Resouce is unavailable.  It's still in the shop, but you can't buy it.  Not sure why.

I got the Mane Attraction one to try on my hairs.  I haven't actually tried it yet, though.

  • SimTenero Shape Reprojector [Commercial]

Hello All!  I need to get caught up on the thread :-D

The stuff about whether the plane or something is intersected or whatever happens because the default plane only has one face and so has no points or lines which can bend it around the receiving shape. This was happening to me at first until I figured out why, and someone on this thread (or the other one) mentioned it too. Just increase the divisions of the plane and the problem will disappear.

Thank you Astracadia, that's exactly right!  As Richard points out, ideally the receiver object, or the area of the object you want to affect, needs to have enough faces to describe the shape.  When using primitives, definitely experiment with higher segment counts.

Can the resulting morphs be saved as duf? Hoping results might be usable in Carrara. ????

Yep, you can save a morph preset as you normally would any other morph, but I don't own Carrera so I don't honestly know how well they import there.  I think some Carrera users have picked up the script, so hopefully we can get some feedback on this soon :-D

Just started experimenting but happy with this result:

If interested, the parameters I used are posted in a thread in Commons.

    That looks awesome, well done!

I feel that I really need to see something in the order of a brief tutorial, to answer questions such as these: (1) Just how would I select (for the example I gave above, of the wrestling claw hold) the hand or fingers or one finger at a time? (2) Could I choose the area of the chest or shoulder or stomach that I wanted the indentations to appear on? (3) What settings, for example, are used? (4) And, of course, what does the final result look like?

You can select different areas using the "projection bounds."  In one of the promo images on the store page, you'll see a small red box around Gennesis 3 Female's fist, that's the projeciton bounds.  Only faces inside that box are considered for the new morph.  Like Richard mentioned, the end result is going to depend on how many faces the area getting the indentation has.  Because fingers are small relative to the faces on the torso or limbs, you may not be able to get 5 distinct finger indentations, though it really depends on the area of the figure.

Has anyone else been getting the error "Wrapper CalculateOverlap Error: Error: cannot access member `getNumFacets' of deleted QObject"? Seems to happen when the target figure has a geo-graft in place.

ACK, that's not right!  eems specific to figures with a geo-graft?  I'll start experimenting to see if I can reproduce and fix the error.  Thanks for bringing this to my attention!

I haven't gotten that error but what I am getting really annoyed about is that, while the sim is running, Daz's load on my processor is about 15%. I don't know if it's a limitation of the script or Studio's fault, but knowing that I could get the results in a sixth of the time is really grating on my nerves.

Scripts, as far as  have been able to figure out, run single threaded.  Believe me, if I can find a way to coax them into taking advantage of multiple threads/cores I definitely will! :-D

  • Who uses Marvelous Designer and Genesis 3?

"Well, OBJ with a boatload of morphs, one morph for each frame. You export animated cloth from MD as OBJ sequence. Then in studio, import the first one only. Use morph loader pro to load all the rest of the frame sequence as morphs into that. Then using this script: http://www.sharecg.com/v/76477/gallery/8/Script/animMorph it should automatically sync up the figure and cloth animation. It's pretty neat."

Ok I understandt this is the same as the script from "mcasual"
that imports a series of obj files Exported from poser sims

I am using the unmentionable"rendo script" for my Cloth sims in Daz Studio

...nice, what base character did you use?

Uhh there's some Girl 7, Aiko 7, and many other dials, in there, but its mostly a custom morph I'm working on.

    the texture is aiko 7's

...created a pretty reasonable Merida primarily based on of all figures, Julie 5 with a bit of Hitomi and Kimberly mixed in.  May revisit her as I have a few new more toon like characters I've acquired since then.
