  • Abbott and Costello-ish characters

I'm not sure where to put this post so please forgive if it's in the wrong place.

Our theme for this year's Halloween season (yeah - I know it's only June but we're THAT house in the neighborhood) is Abbott and Costello Meet the Monsters.  I'd like to create some Abbott and Costello-ish Daz characters, maybe even animations.

Does anyone know how to create a short and plumb man or how to morph faces to resemble real people?  Alot to ask I know but any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Any Japanese Male Characters for Genesis 2 or Japanese Male faces for Lee 6?

There is a lot of variability within all ethnic groups and, as a result, many members of that group don't fit the stereotypical representation of that group. For example, one of my best friends is Chinese and well-meaning non-Chinese strangers assume she is Korean (and possibly half-Korean at that) because she is almost six feet tall and they think she could pass for a K-Pop singer. Yet she is Chinese through and through. She just doesn't fit into their box of what a Chinese 'should' look like and that's OK. We're all individuals.

I agree with the other posters that dial-spun morphs are usually the best solution if you want to create a certain "look". You can start with a packaged morph that's in the ballpark of what you're looking for and then start modifying it to get closer to what you really want. Doing that and experimenting with different characters' skins and textures can help you to create your own unique characters that won't look like anyone else's.

  • Gen3 'Growing Up' - Hideous deforms after new DAZ update......

Looks like you might possibly have a morph loaded alongside growing up that has not been rigged with bones to follow shape on that character. As Richard said, can we see the currently used list in Parameters? It will list all the morphs being used on the character and we could try and see what one is causing it.

Thanks guys, I'll get onto the 'currently used' asap and let you know what I find there, I'll try and get a screenshot if necessary.

You can actually achieve a great deal with the face morph packs if you work at it. This guy is Korean, not Japanese, but I got a fair likeness working off photo references. This is mostly dail-spun with only a couple of small d-former tweaks.

  • V4 face morph not working

    Hi all.

I bought a V4 character - Sabby Topaz - while the body morph applies correctly in Carrara, the face morph does not - it just remains as V4 basic face

I have applied V4.2++ morphs and Elite. no joy - have tried applying both the poser and Daz studio morphs that come with product, have plenty of other Sabby characters that work ok in Carrara

I tried applying the morph in DAZ studio and that works ok in there, so exported scene to carrara but now find that some of the morph sliders - arms up down for example,- stop working in Carrara for the imported file

Any ideas much appreciated. Carrara 8.5 pro latest build

  • What male is this?

    I think it's M7 with a little bit of Lee7.

Oh damn ...I think you might be right. Good eye you have!

That really sucks though ...I can't afford one new "7" figure, let alone TWO. I was hoping he was a G3M unique morph figure. Poop! But yeah, I do think it might be M7 and Lee7 combined.

Oh well, here's hoping I don't have to wait TOO long before they get a deep discount sale. lol

Thank you, divamakeup, and sorry for you if my guess should be right. smileycrying  But if you are a PC+ member, you always have nice discounts on the DO figures and you can use the monthly coupons on them. Then, maybe in two months' time, the two gentlemen could be yours. I must admit it is fun to make your own 'dream boy' blushdevil. I dialed a very handsome one last week from Kimo 7, Makani and some other 'ingredients'. So handsome my husband was not too amused when he saw him... wink

  • Gen3 'Growing Up' - Hideous deforms after new DAZ update......

This type of deformation occurs when scaling morphs are no longer "in sync" with the joint parameters. I just loaded g3f amd applied Growing Up preset 5-6 (note that this is not so much "adding" new morphs as setting existing morph values to be non-zero.). I then saved the file and reloaded, but I don't see the problem deformations. I am using DS4.9.2.70. Probably, as Richard indicated, one of the other morphs you are using is causing this effect. Have you made your own morph in Zbrush or similar program? Normally if you use GoZ it takes care of these issues. However if you exported a scale morphed figure as an object to another program to make a new morph and reloaded the obj file as a morph, then the scaling info is lost and results in the joint parameters being wrong and causing the strange deformations.

Try zeroing each morph you have applied one by one and see which one causes the problem. (the fingers should snap back to normal if you zero the guilty morph)

As far as I am aware, I haven't added any other morphs, all I did was load up a Gen3, added Growing Up to the figures and the changed them around to alter appearances with all the sliders available in posing/shaping parameters. It would probably be more understandable if this was only happening to one or a couple of figures but it isn't, it's happening to every single one but only the ones which I've added Growing Up to, and as I said before it is all the Growing Up presets below 'older teen', older teen and adult (of course) are not affected at all.

  • Trying to make G3F hips and knees more rounded with morph kit

    Here's how...

I exported G3F at base resolution, with Navel and Mouth Realism at 0% in obj format.  Then imported that into Blender with keep vertex order checked, used the Sculpt mode, Inflate brush with symmetry ON (x) to scuplt the hips a bit rounder.  After that, I exported an obj from Blender, again Keep Vertex order checked, then in Studio, used Morph Loader to load it as a morph to G3F.   That doesn't save it, so you will need to save a morph asset (File > Save As > Morph Asset).

Once loaded and dialed in, because it has gone through Morph Loader and isn't a radical full body morph, weights are going to be fine.  And it will load and export like any other morph.

  • Carrara 8.5 and Genesis - Please Help!

Finally got around to installing C8.5 (non-pro, Build 19). I still don't see any of the morph controls even though they have been installed, so Install Manager swears & Carrara updated. (Genesis Evolution Head & Body, G2 Female Head & Body, G2 Male Head & Body).

And no, I still don't have the smart content because I have to have D/S installed. The C8.5 smart content tab saith, "The connection to the Daz Content Management Service cannot be established. Make sure tha tyou have installed the latest version of Daz Studio and that the service is running. You will have to restart Carrara to take the changes into account."

Must I install D/S 4.9 just so Carrara can use the new content? I really don't want to deal with it.

  • Will Genesis 2 characters with M4/V4 to Genesis 2 products, GrowingUp product, work in Unity?

I'm developing for Gaming. I wanted kids and teens for genesis2. The product that saved me was Growing Up for Genesis 2(male/female). And i also wanted to use Genesis 2 for Unity but i didn't want to buy a whole new set of clothes and character textures and shapes so i bought the products for allowing me to use V4/M4 clothes, textures, even shapes and morphs of V4/M4 in Gen 2.  Yet I'm not sure if it will translate when i take it to Unity(3D game engine). Anyone know if it can?

I have the MegaDAZ plugin for Unity  and it works with Genesis figures. But the thing is, Growing up and the other product i mentioned aren't exactly straight morphs(Megadaz does bring in morphs to Unity). These Growing up etc products  are some kind of system. So i was wondering. If these complex systems can create MORPHS that i can use.  For example does the growing up create a full body Morph for the original size Genesis 2 figure?  Or at least does that created Kid, Teen or whatever that you made with Growing Up become a contained character itself or is it a morph?  If it was a contained self sufficient character then, i wouldn't even have to worry about selecting the Full body morph when i use Megadaz in Unity

These are the products i'm talking about and which i have:

  • Trying to make G3F hips and knees more rounded with morph kit

    Hi,

I've been working on this model and trying to figure out how to make the hips more rounded and the area above the knees more "meaty".  In the first picture i outlined on the left side about how much further out i want the hips to be.  I've looked at all morph/shape settings for hip, legs, back, chest and waist but i cant seem to get the right combination to get the look i'm going for.  Should i be in the Actor section of the Shaping editor? that one that has sliders for bodybuilder, bodybuilder details, body size, body tone, emaciated, height, voluptuous etc? use those to round out the hips and knees a bit more then trim it down with the hip/legs/back/chest/waist sliders?

I see other people working with Daz bodies and they are able to get their hips more rounded than i am.  So i wonder if i'm just doing something differently or if i'm missing some plugin or morph kit (i only have the body morph kit for 19 dollars).

  • RRRR Twisted Lyrics Contest

Hey, folks, I could use a bit of help here....

I'm looking for a celebrity look-alike morph, specifically Michael Jackson (later years, preferably).

I tried Googling, and even searched within there forums here (hoping for a few hits in the 'Celebrity Look-a-Likes' topic), but I'm getting a whole lot of nothing -- all I'm getting from Google are YouTube videos of his face morphing through the years, and the forum search keeps tripping over the 'Michael' part, returning crap-loads of references to Michael X.

Has anyone come across anything like this?  Or offer a better search term?
