Star wars clone wars/bad batch characterizerWith the new filatoon I have been inspired to play around with toon renders. That got me thinking about animation styles I particularly enjoy. One style I like a lot is the later seasons of Clone Wars/Bad Batch. I would like to see a product like Cartoonized by PFA, but instead would be morphs that can change any Daz character to a more Clone Wars/Bad Batch style character. Also it would include filatoon shaders that produce a shading style closer to those shows. Just my little product suggestion. Is AI killing the 3D star?

this the problem with the AI debate
the all bad v all good dicotomy
some try to address the ethical training issues only to be told it's giving big corporations like Getty Images using their licensed content leading to a corporate monopoly
or it's soulless, taking jobs etc
others like to push the democratising aspects saying it gives unskilled people an outlet for creativity like using 3D models posed in DAZ studio does to an extent and we all know the hate directed by pure artists at doing that
there are far to many layers to address and have a single debate
photogrammetry is probably the bigger threat to the 3D star specifically
AI + photogrammetry + 3D mesh creation from single images with AI assisted retopology will be the nail in the coffin for 3D modellers
I don't see that as a bad thing, it's a tool like the camera which was the first step towards capturing reality
the skill will always be storytelling, composition etc, having a phone camera doesn't make one Dean Semmler
enter ChatGPT and other large language models...

I've never heard of photogrammerty - but whatever it means - only YOU are going to be able to create your characters and your creatures - that exist only in your head. So it will be like everything else in the world - people will pay a premium for sometheing they really really like, something unique, and you can create that, and AI can't.
photogrammetry is what Quixel Megascans among others do, Dreamlight sells many examples in the DAZ store as does polygonal Minatures
it is basically taking lots of photpgraphs or video footage and joining it all together to create a point cloud (a lot of points in 3D space)
3D scanning is another name for it
the point cloud can then be made into either a guassian splat or actual mesh using various softwares to create faces between the points
one can then use retopology such as Zremesher in Zbrush to create clean meshes that can be UV mapped and Zproject the vertex colours from the original on to that
3DZepher is a photogrammetry software you can use on your own computer as is Meshroom
But it's not as easy as typing a sentence and clicking ENTER. These 3D models that you say are alreay being created and sold here - are they rigged, or rigable? Or are they just a static mesh?
can be either
DAZ uses Photogrammetry too, nothing new about it
there is a video of Reby Sky being 3D scanned for V4,
it's just that now one can use any camera including a phone because of software advances
partially aided by AI
the term AI does not just mean GENERATIVE AI BTW
or Diffusion models
Face Transfer plugin is such an AI assisted tool too
Pose Recorder too

I remember the '50s & '60s when margarine (aka: oleo or oleomargarine, i.e. puréed, flavored, animal fat), yuk,
was on the table, and butter forbidden. But these days I use real butter ("Land-O-Lakes") and sometimes hydrogenated olive oil ("Olivio") for spreading or garnish, and a quality, light, vegetable oil ("Crisco Oil") for heavy frying, but mostly butter now for table use and light frying. It's one of those simple luxuries that I treat myself to, like pure maple syrup, honey, pulpy orange juice, and dense, dark, whole wheat bread (Strohmann's "Dutch Country"). But butter has had a bad rap for decades, and if used in moderation (no snacking on sticks of butter) isn't significantly worse than substitutes. Over my long years of observing and trying to understand science and scientists, I've come to the opinion that nutritionists and psychiatrists still aren't much above witchdoctor stage. Good at the obvious cases, but otherwise fickle, and their pronouncements pontificous and "as weak as water".
...indeed, particularly about nutritionists and scientists (I also throw economists in to that category) .
I grew up in the late years of the "oleo wars" in Wisconsin when coloured Oleo (that which was made to look like butter) was prohibited in the state. This was a long lasting issue that dated back to 1895. The only kind of oleo allowed was white in colour (which looked like a stick of Crisco™ shortening). At the Wisconsin-Illinois state line there were stores on the Illinois side with huge signs advertising Oleo for sale which lasted into the late 1960s. after the "truce" was signed.

As crosswind mentioned, items parented to a character generally follow the character's scale, but some adjustments may be necessary.
Here's an example:
In this example, three props are parented to Victoria 8.
The robot helmet and star-shaped sunglasses are parented to Victoria 8's Head bone, and the gun is parented to the Right Hand bone.
These are just props, not follower nodes. In this case, these props follow the position and size of the bone they are parented to, but they do not follow the character's shape.
The ratio of the hand bone size to the shape size does not change much before and after applying the Growing Up morph, so the gun follows relatively naturally.
Since the size of the shape relative to the Head bone increases after applying the Growing Up morph, the helmet and sunglasses sink into the head.In this case, the size and position of the helmet and sunglasses need to be adjusted individually.
Congrats you're getting really close. Google child proportions. Their heads are a little larger compared to the rest of their bodies. Torso length matters. Limbs should be a little shorter. But get this their tongue is larger (from asking too many whys). Ribs are more horizontal. Also they are not toned. They have much greater flexability in poses. Tweens and Teens often reach adult height during puberty.
A Curious Christmas Competition (Entries Thread)Something's Stirring
In the quiet of an early Christmas morning, almost nothing is stirring. That is, until a very mischievous kitten decides to take the new floor cleaner for a ride. Little did he know that his joyride would awaken a mysterious visitor lurking unsuspectingly in one of the gifts.
I set out to see just how many past/present DAZ PA gifts I could managed to add to the scene before my computer would say enough. The following are in this render...some are a little harder to find than others. I offer my sincere thanks to all the PAs throughout the years for their incredible generosity. And also thank you uo KindredArts for this contest which inspired me to this insanity.

Sylvia 9Nice renders, Sid! I forget how tall Lianna is until you see her compared to someone else, too. I have the green skin from the Star Trek bundle released a while ago, but this one has different close up textures. Either way, I'm happy with her.
And I definitely don't think we need a newborn, but another African American would be a nice change. When was the last one we received? I think it was Xola (Daz Original anyway).

That series was really good, I have the complete series on DVD, the movie version was not at the same level as the original.
It is :)
I've got the complete series, too. I first watched it a couple of years ago. I'd always wanted to see it because of Dwight Schultz a.k.a. Howling-Mad Murdock. He played Reg Barclay in Star Trek: The Next Generation and I just wanted to see how different Murdock was to his Star Trek character. But I ended up loving the show. Although I'm still a little on the fence when it comes to season five ^^'

Been a while since Iast posted but here's something for all you ship lovers. I tested the new Blender-to-DAZ bridge which now supports rigged armature models as standalone figures. I tested it one of the Star Trek Online ships, since they are armature rigged and are standalone figures in their own right (or at least my setups of them are). So here we are.
The Odyssey Class starship which first appeared in Star Trek Online which was made fully canon by Picard Season 3 now in DAZ3D. The updated STO model is the actual model from the show by the way.
Neat. I'd love the Risan Luxury Cruiser (the original 2014 one) or the updated Constellation class.

Really nice use of filatoon shaders, Elor!
I missed your answer, but thank you

I'm kind of late to post this render too, I rendered it in August but waited, thinking I could add something with the CC Angelic thingies, but while I got it, I never use it on this render and I let it sitting unused. But as explained in the gallery, I had an idea for what's happening next, so I modified a couple of details to get a better continuity between this one and the next (I hope I didn't miss anything too obvious after taking the time to get the same material presets applied everywhere…)
And I think this render it's the first time I used the following four items, achieving the #4New challenge

- Millarose for Genesis 8 Female
- dForce Lady Justice Outfit for Genesis 8 Female(s)
- Morning Star Wings for Genesis 9, 3, and 8 Females
- The Alchemy Chasm
All other items are in the gallery, with a small very cliché story about the fight between Justice and Non Justice... Did the later prevail, is it the End of Justice?
Rigging Question: Connecting Follower Bones to Parent FigureAh, SickleYield! Your star shines ever brighter. I was going round in cirlces with an attachment bone that was not moving with the parent bone. And you gave the answer. The node name (not label) has to match and capitalisation is important. Thank you, again.

You are unlikely to find commercial sets, check the Star Trek Builders thread for a list of Star trek-related freebies. https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/271156/star-trek-builders-unite-8-the-reboot/p1 is the current series.
Star Trek TNGWhy can I not find Star Trek TNG uniforms anywhere anymore? They were here in Daz and in Renderhub a while ago. Now its all gone. I'm just wondering if any body konws.
