  • Released! - Draupadi For Genesis 3 Female (Commercial)

Also, this is veering towards off-topic, but Draupadi's morph looks great with your other skins too. This is her, very slightly tweaked, with Vincenzina's skin... Beautiful! Your characters render so well...

  • Jennifer Connolley Tweaks for MRL Andromeda (young version)

All I did was make the face more fleshy, turn the nose up, and provide an expression which helps with shaping. The mouth doesn't need to be open.

After observing young Jennifer, her mouth is often slightly open and she has a blank look which translates to sweet and innocent.

The expression tends to make the mouth a little smaller, and the nose might be a little wider in the tip and nostril area. I hope I got that in.

    Tweaks for young Jennifer:

Make sure you have DAZ Morphs ++ and MRL Andromeda morph applied. I'm not sure how urgent that one is, but do it anyway.

I used DAZ Long Story hair, but you might have better idea.

    Nose flesh full .580

    Face full .580

    Nose tip up/down .848

    Expression:

    Brow up-down .212

    Brow outer up-down .560

    Brow inner up-down -.482

    Eyes squint .440

    Mouth open .552

    Lips part .660

    Lip top up-down .448

I hope this works. I've never done this before.

Old Jennifer is also a must-have, and I'll get to it right away.

MRL Andromeda provides some expressions, but haven't used

    ALMOST FORGOT!

    Part 2, body tweaks-

Not usually useful if the body is clothed.

    Young .228

    Voluptuous .492

    Heavy .236

DAZ Natural Gravity Morphs for V4 could come in handy.

  • Via Serena in the iray, what do i do?

Via Serena predates Iray. Did you convert all the surfaces from 3Delight to Iray Uber, switch all the Starry Night lanterns to emissives, all that? (Oh, and don't use the Starry Night skydome in Iray; it's not built for that.)

For Starry Night, there are also a lot of lights that need to have photometric mode turned on. (a LOT of lights! but they're grouped, so you can just select the members of each group in the scene menu and do that all at once)  And then you'll need to tinker to see what level they need to be.

I'm tinkering with Via Serena now, just out of curiosity, and the surfaces transfer into Iray Uber just fine, even without Normal maps (although it would look better with them), but the lights need to have their strength turned way up.

  • Show Us Your Iray Renders. Part V

Just wanted to share this render as a heads up for a fantastic free morph for G3F. It's Tofusans' free anime head morph over at sharecg and I couldn't believe that it's free. I love her!!!

Is that on ShareCG or somewhere else?  I love how she looks!

  • Can't get NBM for V4 to work

I doubt they are merged because I see both original V4 files and NBM morph ones together in the same folder - in other words I manually extracted NBM into the existnig \Runtime\Libraries\!DAZ\Victoria 4 folder. If using DIM might be the key - do I manually delete those NBM files and use DIM all over agian?

  • What art softwares do you use?

I use Studio and Poser for rendering/posing/etc. CS5 for texture work, Blacksmith 3D for texture tweaking.  Silo, Sculptris and Carrara for modeling, Hexagon for morph making and tweaking models if need be.  Adding Substance Painter for texture work now, as well.

  • V4 bodysuit cloth thickness morph?

    Hi.

The V4 bodysuit has been described in several places as having a cloth thickness morph, but I'll be damned if I can find it anywhere. I've even looked in hidden properties. Anyone know where it is? I'd rather avoid smoothing and push modifiers if possible.

    Thanks!

  • Cloth Distoration When Appling Any Poses

You need to smooth the weight maps between the thighs and under the arms at the very least - although using a skirt template in the Transfer Utility may help. With loose-fitting clothing the automatic tansfer is never going to be more than a starting point.

  • Why should DAZ Studio User try Carrara?

And, my first full render in Carrara 8.5 following PhilW's tutorial for loading V4, adding a character morph, clothes, hair, posing the figure and using Point At.
I'd be disappointed if this were a DAZ Render. I suspect I'll be spending most of my time in Studio still... but I can see the potential for Carrara, for sure.

Those glossy highlights can be modified in the shader room but an easier faster way is to get Fenricks "shader Doctor " plugin which allows you to do the job in a flash. You will also learn Carraras lighting system can create some interesting renders. Here are a few of mine not claimed to be masterpieces but to illustrate the variety of work you can do. None of these have any post editing. Everything in Carrara.

  • virtual penny 4 yor carrara thoughts ?

What thread were you talking about the Minotaur in? I thought it was this one. Hmmm...

Anyways, with my movie back on track, I had to bring out Troglodyte, and I think you were showing interest in them, so I thought I'd show you some quick renders.

First one is the High Res version, just loaded in a quickly optimized the way I always start with shaders. The High Res version has some excellent morphs added to his face and works well in close-ups. He also has a bazillion Morphforms type morphs for individual movements of individual joints - dial morphs. So if we use, say, M4 or V4 motion file on him, and they just don't have the right bends, instead of using the graph editor we can use these cool morph dials! LR version has those too!

Second image is the Low Res version, which is really Low Res. He's sporting the curly horns, which I've added SubD smoothing to. The rest of him is just the way he is - except that I quickly optimized his shaders kinda the same way, but even quicker.

  • I have a question about transferring a part of full body morph from G1 to G2.

I bought a character morph for G1 that's called Iradian alien for Genesis.  I want to transfer only the morphs that are applied to the head, and not the rest of the body so I can create an alien that has the head shape of the alien but keep the rest of the body more human like.  I really like the aliens head and body but thought it would also look good if only the head shape was applied.  I have Genx2.  I load the morph and when I go into the individual body parts, I can't tell what parts are altered.  Is it even possible to isolate only one part of a morph from a full body morph?  I'll provide an image of the character and what I want to transfer.

  • Genesis 1 mouth won't close all the way...

How did you zero the head and expression?  Best way is Edit>Figure>Zero> and then it gives you several options.  If you only want the expressions zeroed, select Zero>Selected Pose and that should zero everything on the selected body part.  Sometimes there is an odd morph not zeroed if you used any of the shaping morphs to open the mouth.  If you zeroed with the what I just said and you still have an open mouth, I would double check all of the mouth morphs under shaping to see if any of them are keeping the mouth open.  It possible, though, that a stray posing morph is not at zero.  I believe there is a way to sort through them to show which ones are in use without going through the whole list because doing it that way makes it easy to miss one.  But, my DS is in the middle of a render so I can't check what that filter might be.

  • The older generation: Victoria 2/3, Michael 2/3 and their children renders

Can somebody tell me why Mike 2 seems to be missing half his eye lashes? I thought it was the morph but turning it off has no effect on them. The skin I'm using is from a character named Jeff that I bought when I first got Poser, back in 2004. Unfortunately, that is the only eyelash transmap I have for M2 and many of the free textures I've found don't include them. Heck, I'm lucky if any of them have MAT poses, let alone transmaps. Those must really have been exotic way back then.

Did you try adjusting the lash lengh and/or thickness morphs dials? The parameters should show up when you select his head. If you make the lashes longer and/or thicker and still can't see them then it might be a transmap issue.

All the freebies I have for M2 come with lash transmaps, but they do seem a little thin in the inner corners. If it helps any, I did a quick test with RDNA's free Zane texture (I'm not sure if it's still available post-DAZ merger.)

  • Why does DAZ Studio customers like Conforming Cloths better then Dynamic Cloths ?
... Right, now that the world has stopped spinning, I have a couple of questions: 1.- Supposedly, VWD can convert any item into a dynamic one, but I've yet to see it being used for the classic couch-butt collision. Does it work well in such cases? 2.- Related question, how much work does it take to have more than one figure interacting with the same item? Say, a dynamic tug of war or someone pulling someone else's hair? 3.- Related 2: Relate Harder. Does it give nice results in a figure-to-figure collision? Say, Victoria slapping Michael or Millennium Dog biting Gianni? How about solving the classic boobs-of-steel walking problem?

    Answers to highlighted by line

    - see pic below

    - not much work, once you understand the "character" of VWD plugin (plugins have unique personalities too!)

    - theoretically doable for still renders with one figure being turned into a prop.

    - subject to artistry and skills; dog biting at human or furniture can surely be done with VWD "dynamic sculpting"

    - subject to modeling/sculpting skills; as far as I know cloth objects will be turned into non-figures. As I said earlier, "prop-pified". But so long boobs are bouncing under a layer of fabric, can theoretically be done. Some kind of special bra or "temporal jelly silicon" underwear lol

    Pic 1 no sim.

Pic 2 minimal pinning, 2-3 minutes dynamic sculpting. Very wobbly, result more like bean bag.

Pic 3 with pinning and rigidification by neighborhood, hard. Only 30 seconds of dynamic sculpting.

    image

Daz Studio finally has a kind of "morph brush". Yeepeeee

Not saying it's all roses, VWD still isn't 100% stable and integrated with DS, and I'm not saying it will be easy for 3D newbies. But I'm really liking this strange new ways of sculpting... ZBrushers and Mudboxers and Blender tribe will love it no doubt!
