  • Help needed with Dformers....

    "Based on the description, it sounds like the weight maps or skeleton got messed up somewhere along the way. Can you verify the bones are in the correct place? If they are, then it's likely some weight maps got unassigned."

    To be honest, I put the figure through so much experimentation, I may need to start again from scratch using what I have learnt thus far and see what happens then.

    It may also be why HD morphs are causing DS to crash; when someone with Richard's knowledge thinks it may be a bug and didn't expect it to happen, I may indeed have done something that is causing this.

    I may just do a very basic ZB morph and see what happens then; the HD morphs causing crashes is a major issue for this process as not every character is labelled as "HD" in the program, so DS has been crashing fairly often - so I think that is what I will attack first................

  • Post Your Renders - Happy New Year yall

    Yup... I think I'm overdoing the brightness of the iris glare and perhaps using too mu refraction on the cornea. I'll tweak that. I'm also not finished shaping the character or tweaking the shaders - I have very little time in the building of this character so far. But I really like it. V4 animates really nice (my opinion) and I have a LOT of expression morph dials (Morphs++, Facial Expressions for V4 pack, Girl 4 (lots of expressions!) Reby Sky and Aiko 4 - but I don't use those on Rosie or Dart) - which are super-convenient for animating expressions. Reby's are really quite natural and subtle, while Girl 4 is exaggerated. I really like the Facial Expressions for V4. I don't think I could live without Morphs++

  • how to use genx 2

    I just purchased the genx 2 tool for daz to transfer morphs between Genesis characters, now upon reading the pdf manual its saying go under transfer then select source. Well I dont have a source button, everything else is there but that. I've included a screenshot. Is there an updated manual or something.

  • Transferring Sam and Sadie face shapes to Genesis/Genesis 2/Genesis 3

    Is there like a easy way to transfer the Sam & Sadie face shapes to the G/G2/G3 lines of characters other than export to Poser and use the morph brush? I guess it would make good practice to do that.

  • Transfering morphs

    Is there any way that I can transfer genesis morphs to gen 2 or 3 or vise versa, I have all these good presets but cant use them on gen 2 or gen 3 and vise versa. They really need to make a figure that you can use all your old stuff on and the new stuff that will come out. Thats the only reason why I stopped getting stuff becuase I relized they are just going to come out with a new figure and everything I just bought wont work on the new figure.

  • Converting Dynamic Clothing To Conforming Figure

    I've done a few with transfer utility and sickles dress rig and never had a problem with it crashing other than one item it would take the knee length one but would crash when trying the wide dress rig of sickles no clue why, however there are some dynamic that can't be done without remodelling the skirt portion. just because of they way they are modelled like skirts that stick straight out from the hip or have such a large bell shape to the bottom there made to be draped they would look quite odd and little unrealistic as a conforming item

  • Problem exporting G3 Female animation to Unity3d

    I have played with Unity and Gen3 but usually used unity asset store animations or IK solver.

    I'm now trying to do c# script in unity that will transfer limb rotation to right place in Gen3 but I haven't got enough time.

    With Gen2 I have done some animations with DS but Gen3 I only used animations from my unity library.

  • Novica & Forum Members Tips & Product Reviews Pt 7

    I already have them and I like your idea so I'll try to see what happens with them tomorrow.  I've moved figures up from one generation to another before as I'm slowing moving most of my M4 guys up to  G2M.  I haven't tried moving up to G3 since the update yet.  But, as yet, I haven't GenX across gender lines, yet, other than a few RawArt characters where the M4 UV is used for both genders.  I may have accidentally converted the female panda to G2M when I didn't mean to while I was it.  :)  It will be interesting to see how the 200 morphs look on a male.  I'll post to my thread tomorrow to show the results after I convert them with GenX.  I'll try a sided by side comparison of some of the morphs, if anyone is interested.

    I think you are right, though, that they will transfer fine.  I like your idea and I hope you don't mind me rolling with it as I've really been wanting something like this for G3M and if this works, I don't have to wait for the vendor to decide to do a male version.  I think there was some discussion, but the vendor never said they would definitely do male version so it could be a long wait for male morphs in a similar package.

    I don't know if Novica would be interested in having any of them posted here or not.

  • Planning a starship build, scale questions

     No new pics yet, but I have been makingsome progress. I've made some cargo lifts that align with the side air locks, to get larger cargo up to the hold. I've also separated the air locks from the main shipo and made them separate parts that will be able to extend (though not nearly far enough yet, That'll require a morph to strech the "neck" of the air lock. I also need to open up a hole in each air lock for doors. I als need to fit escape pods somewhere in the interiror. My orignal floor plans have two escape pods in those pods on either side of the"wings", but, those aren't nearly enough for 22 people. So, any suggestions where to fit a couple more escape pods?

  • Morph WIP: Christopher Reeve for Genesis

    I have Wertz's old Christopher Reeve Morph for M4 if that might help you with perfecting the Genesis morph. I alaso recommend looking at Superman artwork done by Gary Frank since his Superman resembles Chris Reeve alot. It helped me when I tried to work on a Chris Reeve Morph years ago .

  • GoZ to daz studio keeps opening up empty scene, not bringing in mesh.

    So, I was having an issue with goz, attempting to send a mesh from zbrush to studio was just opening up an empty scene, not transferring the mesh. I decided to download and reinstall Goz plugin.

     

    I went to try again, and the plugin is not working at all due to being written for newer version of studio. So I decided to download the latest studio and install that. On the screen where I tell it where my library is installed, I try to click next and an error pops up. "The directory H: is not writable by current user"

    I am on win7 64 bit, H: is the hard drive I keep my library and various "runtimes" on. I ran the installer as admin. Why am I getting that message and not being able to install?

     

     

    OK, I rebooted computer, but goz still not working right. Still just opening new instance of studio with no mesh in the scene. This is a new mesh, not making a morph or anything.

    Looks like removing any bones prevents saving a pose (G3F went back to the T-pose) and changing morphs makes geometry fly all over the place during manipulation but settles down to the morph once slider movement has completed..............

    Based on the description, it sounds like the weight maps or skeleton got messed up somewhere along the way. Can you verify the bones are in the correct place? If they are, then it's likely some weight maps got unassigned.

    This is beautiful! :D Sadly I don't have A3.

    i dont know if it works only because i installed the Aiko3/Hiro3 bundle for Genesis 1, but i'm able to fit it on Genesis 1

    it didnt work with Genesis 2 and 3, the Aiko3 "donor" was not in the list displayed when i did the 'fit'

    maybe i'll make a version for Genesis 2 and 3 using the Genesis 1 fit

     

    the addon i bought to get Aiko3 bodies on Genesis 1 is

  • Will's Tips
    Don't use Displacement. Seriously, just... don't. It sucks enormous resources to make it work decently

     

    Sounds a bit unfair. It all depends on the polygon resolution of your base mesh (the higher the rez the lower your displacment subdvision needs to be) and how long you're willing to wait for the presampling. MCJ's push script just does what iray's displacement does as if you were displacing at base resolution with no subdivision at all, but gives you the luxury of a morph slider. I find pre-empting the need to do high subdivs in the displacement settings by increasing the SubDivision Level, under the figure/prop General tab, before the render kicks in reduces the need for high displacement subdivs, and bear in mind you don't have to use only Catmark SubDiv algorithm. I don't have a fancy setup, but I'm not coy about using displacement provided I go into it with my eyes wide open.

  • Will's Tips

    Will - I have an idea and don't know how to go about doing it.  Not sure if the geoshell will work.

    I want to create a sword that has a woman's face just above the pommel.  I don't want it static - I want G2F's expressions, and in fact, I want it to look like a face that I had made for G2F using morph dials.

    So, do I shove and squeeze G2F's face into the slot and make the rest of her invisible?  Or is there some way to copy that face and place it in the sword, and then create some of my own morphs for expressions?

    I'd love a 200 morph set for men. I suspect the morphs could be genxd over but I will wait until that product is on sale to purchase and try it.

    Now, that's a cool idea I hadn't thought of!  I may give that a try and see what happens as I would love to have those for G3M!

  • Bhv animation isn't imported correctly in Daz/Poser

    Is there a known/available reference for the mentioned MMD 'standard' bone naming? Does the BVH spec have a starting/recommended bone structure/mapping/naming scheme that folks use (and vary from)?

    I know Iclone has a 'nonstandard character' in their 3DX transfer process that would seem to suite this purpose, and obviously DAZ's de-facto Mil4 standard rigs are out there, as well as MAYA's bi-ped, and Motion-builder's ...

    If you were going to (re)map a huge collection of varied BVH files to a 'meta-bone' structure, what would be recommended? (kind of like what the obj format is to meshes, BVH is to mocap, but what bone/skeleton reference is a good starting point?)
