  • Old School Hollow Book

    WendyLuvsCatz said:

I actually have one of those I hide my phone in

but the one wanted by jmucchiello is a real book with the actual pages hollowed out, probably with a Stanley knife in the shape of the thing it's hiding

Exactly, though I'd call it Exacto, which as an American, I am "unaware" is brand name like Kleenex (facial tissue) and Scotch (transparent tape). I noticed in the Google search aboce there are entire YouTube videos about hollowing out a book. And I hadn't realized how popular it was to hollow out bibles.

Do you know about this one?

No, but it isn't what I want either. Google (and switch to images tab): secret object inside a hollowed out book

I want to see cut up interior pages looking like a cubby hole. Apparently a lot of Etsy folks craft these kinds of things based on the search result.

    DS6 Toolbars?

My workflow for the last several years of almost daily use relies on window layout and multiple toolbar rows. I haven't tested the beta DS interim versions because I have actual work that needs to get done. Not only can't I have multiple toolbar rows now, but after I detach a toolbar, it never seems to want to redock. Anywhere. So trying to figure this out, I now have a ton of little floating toolbars that won't dock anywhere and have to float outside the window. If I fullscreen the window, the toolbars stay where they are and inevitably end up covering something important.

EDIT: It took a few minutes of targeted search, but I found that the bug is that all side panes of the main window need to be collapsed before docking a toolbar will work. And I seem to be able to get multiple rows again. Several online search engines said that Daz had purposely removed the ability.

Also, I don't see where large scenes load any faster than in 4.24. One particular scene I'm working with has tons of textures. If I try to do anything before it's "ready" the screen just goes white and I have to wait just as long as I would have previously.

EDIT: This still applies. Loads aren't any faster, or if they are, they're a second or two off a 20-second load. Certainly not enough to brag about.

  • Why does it take so much longer to delete cameras from a scene?

    Joe827 said:

    crosswind said:

Yes, starting from a certain version of DS 4.23 (IIRC...), adding / deleting cameras takes more time than previous 4.x versions. I ever sent a support ticket to ask the same question but got no solid response ~~

Interesting.  Would you be willing to share what they said?

Here's the screenshot of the ticket but it's not allowed to show the responses from the support team in this forum ~~

In general, they said they couldn't reproduce the issue with the versions they had... and finally they got no response from the development team for this issue... So, I could only let it go ~~

I’ve gone ahead and installed it now, and I’ve also adjusted the directories. However, there is still something located in `C:\dokuemte` that I don't want there—and don't recognize. As described in the forum, I was able to copy over the `user_styles` and `user_layouts` files and largely restore my screen layout. So far, no serious issues have arisen, aside from the fact that the scripts, bookmarks, and similar items are no longer present in DS6. Although all the plugins appear "green" in the list, none of them are actually present or functional. The same applies to the toolbar at the top. Furthermore—despite having imported the saved layouts—one still has to manually set the screen background to white. In principle, using the software for actual work is not yet advisable.
But will there be content that only works in DS6? Then i would need a new content-folder

     What is in `C:\dokuemte`?

they are using an non english version of windows I imagine it's just documents C:\Documents and Settings

Even then, that would be the Windows XP path - I think it was WIndows 7 that switched to /Users/Documents/ - and XP is not supported. But I think the question was what files/folders were being placed there?

Typo, but there was a space so doesn't affect the link.

If there's a space and no other text directly after a link the forum software considers the space as part of the link and adds code for the space to the URL. Often that means the link doesn't work when you click on it.

  • Maintaining character dimensions

I haven't heard of that before, and don't have an idea what can cause it.

If you open the scene file (it can be read in a texteditor like norepad or notepad ++, needs to be unzipped first if compressen) and then find (search) Nathan, what scale does he then have?

  • Daz Studio 6 Beta - version 6.25.2026.19821! (Updated July 23, 2026)

    jjb24 said:

When can we expect some explanation of the things that just showed up in DIM? I'm guessing it won't be in this forum but perhaps someone will be nice enough to post a link to wherever the explanation is posted.

At this point it feels more like a mistake. Like the various different "midnights"

What I find most unsettling is there's a blog on the home page. No updates since December. A cold release of Daz 6 seems like poor planning. There should have been an announcement a week ago. A month ago. Even a day ago. No announcement before it hits DIM is extremely weird. And that's why it feels like a mistake.

  • Content Catalog - Windows/macOS (Commercial) - Out now

How many products do you have in your DIM (or any other) download folder? 500? 1,000? 10,000? No matter how many you have, the chance is that you can't remember what they are, what they contain. Especially if you don't install everything.

Content Catalog was created to keep track of all your product downloads (DAZ and other stores). It scans the folder(s) and builds a searchable, browsable catalog with thumbnails — without extracting or installing anything. Find what you own, see what it looks like, and know who made it, all from one window.

It automatically identifies creators for your DAZ store purchases using a local Creator Database that's downloaded once and updated whenever you like. No internet connection needed for everyday browsing.

Search by name, creator, tags, or your own notes. Filter by format, content type, or creator. Sort by name, download date, or product SKU.

It includes a comprehensive PDF guide to help you get the most out of it. It is strongly recommended that you read it before scanning your library for the first time.

System requirements: Windows x64 and macOS 13 or later.

macOS users: it is a .dmg file, which will be found under General/DJB. The installation is a macOS standard: drag it to the link that points to your Application Folder (see last image).

  • Slow rendering time.

There have been other discussions on this topic here on the forum, but my problem is different from the others. What usually happens is that a standard render on my system (I’ll list the specifications below) takes 10–12 minutes, rendering images at a resolution of 1920x1080 in a standard scene containing objects, lighting and two Genesis 9 figures.

The problem occurs occasionally, where the scene takes between 40 and 60 minutes to render, using the same scene, lighting and figures.

I use Nvidia Iray as the engine, in photorealistic mode, with CPU fallback disabled and CPU unchecked in devices. The GPU is identified correctly.

Using the CPUID HWMonitor software, I identified differences in the GPU’s performance in both cases. CPU usage remains constant throughout both.

    | ITEM                                 |     NORMAL RENDER       |    SLOW RENDER    |

    | GPU Power Consumption |          140W to 150W         |              ~60W           |

    | Temperature                      |                   ~80°C             |              ~56°C           |

    | GPU usage                        |                 100%                |               100%           |

    | VRAM usage                     |            98% to 99%           |          96% to 99%      |

    | Frame Buffer                     |            69% to 74%            |            2% to 6%       |

    | Bus Interface                     |                 ~60%                 |              ~16%           |

    | 3D Usage                          |            94% to 100%           |         56% to 100%    |

There is a notable discrepancy in some itens, where even though the GPU reports that it is using 100% of its capacity during rendering, it does not utilise its full processing power to complete the task, resulting in a significant increase in the time between interactions during rendering. This problem occurs in both Daz Studio 4.24.0.4 and Daz Studio 6 – beta version 6.25.2026.14722.

The only solutions I have found for the problem so far have been to close the Daz Studio application, clear the RAM using RAMMap, and reset the graphics card driver using the shortcut Win+Shift+Ctrl+B. If that doesn’t work, try resetting the graphics card using the command (nvidia-smi --gpu-reset) in the system terminal, or, if that doesn’t work, perform a full reboot of the operating system.

I’d like to know if other users are experiencing this or if it’s just me. This problem persists even after reinstalling the software, the operating system, in both the Game Ready and Studio versions from NVIDIA driver.

    System information:

    Windows 11

    DAZ Studio 4.24.0.4 - Daz Studio 6 – beta version 6.25.2026.14722

    AMD Ryzen 7 5700X 8-core processor

    NVIDIA RTX 3060 12GB

NVIDIA GeForce Game Ready Driver 610.47

    64GB RAM

  • Rolling backdrop

It's not clear to me exactly what you want. The hits I get when I google rolling backdrop don't match what there is of your description.

If you want a backdrop that can be used out of the side window of a car, so its scrolling from one side to the other, you could use a plane to make a very long billboard, put your background image on it, and then move it. Or you could make a big cylinder primitive, put your image on the side, and rotate it. In both cases, I'd render, or find, or create with AI a short stretch of backdrop, use an image program to turn it into a seamless image in the horizontal axis, and then tile it on the primitive.
